Literally brittle or not, that item in Blue can definitely fade darker (brittle,
sunburned, whatever)... and that particular part was produced post-2000, regardless
of color (though I have never really experienced the "brittle" issue others seem
to find in parts, so I am somewhat ignorant to that issue)... essentially, I
was just attempting to use familiar vernacular that had been mentioned prior...

That’s understood
That’s why I “precised” that “Brittle” really means brittle: just use the parts
and they break.
Otherwise, faded parts are like the non-faded ones, it’s just discolouration
(or rather, re-colouration, as it’s yellowing: more yellow not less “original
colour”).

Note that there’s another Brittle colour: Reddish Brown, but this one affected
NEW parts and, IIRC what I read on the forum, it was produced during the LOTR
sets.

sorted a bunch of curved slopes from a sorted lot I'd purchased this year,
and there were tons of this particular item in Blue that had faded to Brittle
Blue (the lot contained a large ziplock bag sorted by color with just this part
in Blue, and the fading was really noticeable when they were all together)...

What do you mean by member not VAT-registered. VAT-registered EU buyers also

Answer 3 on https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2518 :
“BrickLink will not collect VAT if the buyer is VAT registered and provides their
valid VAT number (in these cases, the VAT registered buyer will be responsible
to account for VAT).”

They only offer PayPal Onsite.

Yes, but they say the buyer paid “directly” because they can’t make Onsite work.
So either the buyer did it themself, or the seller asked them to.  Either way,
it’s wrong.

I think this is a technical issue, like I had the other way around.

  Hi,

Can anyone tell me what meaning have those numbers and color on set parts list?

Thanks!

I believe this means that this parts has an alternate item. Depending on when
it was packaged, if there was a different model for that given part, it could
come with variant A or B. Has no impact on the build.

On the contrary, this particular number, 99, is used when there have been a (minor)
modification of the set, so there’s an impact on the build.

When the MID is 99 = remodel, all the parts in the Regular section with MID 99
have been replaced in the second version of the set with all the parts in the
Alternate section with MID 99 (thus, you can find the same part in both sections
but with different quantities).

When the MID is not 99 = just a variant, you can get all your parts as the Regular
variant, or all as the Alternate one, or any combination (some of one variant,
some of the other).  It’s how LEGO handles their stocks / introduce new variants:
they don’t care when they are mixed.

Was that really a case when BL should have collected VAT?  (Amount below €150

Because, if not, there’s nothing to do, just proceed with the order.

If yes, then you need to refund and ask them to pay with PayPal Onsite.
And if they can’t pay this way because Onsite doesn’t work, I fear you’ll have
to cancell the order.

On this page, you can upload images to be used on your about me page and store
splash page. Images for your items for sale and discussion forum posts are uploaded
and stored elsewhere

The operative words are “to be used”: it’s a place to store images FOR your About

appear on those pages.

Once you have images in this place, you can link them “easily” in those pages…

I agree but it also hurts everyone else too because all these exagerated sale
claims overshadow worthwhile sales meaning decent buying/selling opportunities
get lost in all the noise to the point that nobody actually beleives the word
'SALE' anymore!

Well, in France, we have laws to differentiate “soldes” (sale) and “promotions”:
— limited in time (two 6 weeks periods in January and July, or when you go out
of business or
change owner…),
— items must have been at the original price for a month (and sold, not hidden
in the stocks),
— only way to sell at a loss.

We also have recent laws to limit “promotions” on some products (food…), e.g.
no more than 34% (or 3rd for free…).

And my feeling is that nobody acually believes in the word “SALE” anymore.

Oui Sylvain, the O/U clips were exactly what I was thinking. I got also confused
because on Rebrickable, they have two part relationships "same mold" and "alternate".
The recent 68888 part had been marked as a "same mold" and they changed it to
"alternate" after I mentioned this. This is why I initially didn't question
the seller on that point, thinking it was the same here.
Merci!

More confusing: “Alternate” is also used on BL: look on

Part No: 6060 Name: Arch 1 x 6 x 3 1/3 Curved Top
*
6060 Arch 1 x 6 x 3 1/3 Curved Top
Parts: Arch
for instance,
it’s written
“Item No: 6060 Alternate Item No: 15967, 30935”

So LEGO made the same¹ part with different IDs, and BL says they are the same
part/entry in the catalogue.

BL vocabulary: alternate ID vs. similar mould,
RB vocabulary: same mould vs. alternate part….

———
¹ Generally, the differences between alternate IDs are hard to tell, and you
need to look at the number embossed on the parts.
Also, TLG uses different moulds for transparent parts because different plastics
need different moulds (slightly different size to accomodate for different dilation),
so their IDs are different.

But if i sell more then 10000€ anual to europe what did i have to do?

Then you have the choice to either:
— register for VAT in each EU country you sell to,
— or only register to the Portuguese One-Stop Shop (balcão único?) for VAT.

The OSS is obviously the simplest.

To register, you’ll need an EU VAT number.  Your Chamber of Commerce should be
able to give you one.

Once you’re registered to the OSS, you’ll need to collect VAT from your EU buyers,
you’ll need to report your EU sales on the OSS website and remit the VAT you
collected (= give the VAT money) every quarter (3 months).

Now, as far I understand it, having a VAT number and having to collect in other
EU countries shouldn’t force you to collect VAT in your own country too (if you’re
still under your country’s VAT threshold)… but in order to collect VAT from your
EU buyers, BL wants you to activate VAT in your shop, so you’ll have to collect
VAT in Portugal too.
That may mean more than asking for a VAT number, it may mean changing your business
status.

In short: You should ask your Chamber of Commerce.

how can i see how much i sell to europe?

Download your sales and calculate?

  Good afternoon

Could you let me know which billing program you use that is compatible with bricklink?

I don’t think there is one: you need to do everything yourself (either manually
or with programs using the BL API…).

Another question is: if I sell €100 to another European country, will I pay the
vat of the country of destination and will I still have to pay the VAT in my
country or not?

First, technically, it’s not the seller who pays VAT, it’s their buyers.  The
sellers may collect VAT….

But if you sell below 10,000€ per year to other EU country (so, not counting
your sales in Portugal, you’ll need a hundred buyers at €100), you don’t have
to register to anything.

   Thanks in advance

How would like that to happen to you if you had bought one for you & one for

Also, once again, it’s illegal to cancel a sale to sell the item to someone else.

  Hi,
How can we restore Lego to its original colour? We have bought some used parts
and some of the white and light aqua in particular have yellowed. We tried soaking
1 part with a small amount of diluted bleach then with Coca-Cola but neither
seemed to make any difference.

If by “bleach,” you mean chlorine (kitchen bleach), then it was a very bad idea.
Chlorine damages most plastics and LEGO parts are not immune.  At the minimum,
it makes them brittle.

(Coca-Cola is not a very good idea either, I guess now the parts are all sticky
)

If you mean “hair bleach,” then it’s oxygen peroxide, and it’s the solution.
A 3% concentration, leave the parts a couple hours in the sun or a UV light.
Some add a tiny drop of “oxyclean” or such whitening agent as catalyser.

The problem is that it doesn’t work well on some colours (e.g. light gray may
become very light in spots) and the yellowing often comes back after a few months.

You may also want to search about RetrObright & LEGO.

Or you can buy new bricks on BrickLink

Very nice that have the option to change all dimensions on a single page: https://www.bricklink.com/catalogReq.asp?itemType=S

In my opinion, following the logic for instructions entries were we have width
x height x thicknes
s the dimensions for flat boxes should also follow the
same logic and I would therefore suggest to make this: width x height x thickness
(of the flattened box).

Depth?

Well, if you consider the box flat on a table, ready to be packed, then the longest
side is length, the second longest side is width and the last side is thickness
because the box is not deep enough to have depth.

So you should ask for all the three names to be changed

I’d say it has because I remember Russell saying so.

Oh, I agree! I wasn't saying that it was okay to do this. I was saying that
it is entirely the seller's issue and is not the fault of our catalog. The
OP was seeming to say that because these items had a similar relationship, that
they got the wrong part from their seller. That is very, very not true.
Jen

Oh, okay, so, yes, it’s the seller that’s at fault, but I don’t totally agree
the catalogue isn’t: there’s variants some buyers don’t care about, or sometimes.
It should be easier to know which ones are okay and which are not, a better way
than the presence of an undetermined entry.

Agree with Turz here. Similar does not mean same. If Bricklink considered them
the same, then there would only be one listing.

To play the Devil’s advocate, I’d say the problem is all variance relationships
are not equal:

Part No: 4085 Name: Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with Clip Vertical (Undetermined Type)
*
4085 Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with Clip Vertical (Undetermined Type)
Parts: Plate, Modified
Marked for Deletion
and its a, b, c, d variants.
They all have the same ID but with a different letter, and the functional difference
isn’t obvious (I’m not sure but some may fit where others don’t, e.g. in rotation).

But 4085 is undetermined and can be used in WLs & store inventories (it’s not
“marked for deletion” to prevent it), and many people don’t care which version
they sell/buy.  Does BL really care when a seller doesn’t use the 4085 entry
when they don’t differentiate?  Is it enforced?

Or

Part No: 3794a Name: Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with 1 Stud without Groove (Jumper)
*
3794a Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with 1 Stud without Groove (Jumper)
Parts: Plate, Modified

Part No: 3794b Name: Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with 1 Stud with Groove (Jumper)
*
3794b Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with 1 Stud with Groove (Jumper)
Parts: Plate, Modified

Part No: 15573 Name: Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with 1 Stud with Groove and Bottom Stud Holder (Jumper)
*
15573 Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with 1 Stud with Groove and Bottom Stud Holder (Jumper)
Parts: Plate, Modified
the first two are grooved or not, that’s
more aesthetics than function, only the last brings a difference in function.

I’m guessing more people care about the functionnality added by 15573 than for
4085.  But there’s also an entry for the undetermined version, and it covers
the three versions, so is it allowed to not differentiate?

And then, there’s

Part No: 55982 Name: Wheel 18mm D. x 14mm with Axle Hole, Fake Bolts and Shallow Spokes
*
55982 Wheel 18mm D. x 14mm with Axle Hole, Fake Bolts and Shallow Spokes
Parts: Wheel

Part No: 55981 Name: Wheel 18mm D. x 14mm with Pin Hole, Fake Bolts and Shallow Spokes
*
55981 Wheel 18mm D. x 14mm with Pin Hole, Fake Bolts and Shallow Spokes
Parts: Wheel
They have the same “similar mold” relationship
in the catalogue but are really not the same.  There’s no undetermined entry.
So, it’s not allowed to not separate them, is it?

Now, where does the “mold similarity” between 48723 & 68888 fall?

Shouldn’t there be two “mold similarity” relations to prevent this confusion,
or is the presence/absence of an undetermined entry sufficient?  It doesn’t seem
to be sufficient for this seller.

I would not suggest buying from that seller again.

Yes.  There’s sellers who say “we don’t differentiate,” but they rarely go into
detail about where they draw their line.  I’d rather they all use the undetermined
entry (as I guess they should) but looking if they have the other variants sometime
helps: after all, they wouldn’t use one entry for, say, the Red parts, and another
for the Blue ones, or would they?
Right.  So the only way to be sure is to avoid them

If this is the case then why the original email? If BL have already registered
for an IOSS number and they are taking the vat and allowing sellers to add the
IOSS number to the parcel address I fail to understand why the need for requesting
we register for an OSS number.

The IOSS VAT, Import One Stop Shop VAT, is for Imports, so for non-EU sellers
and marketplaces.  When a non-EU sellers goes through a marketplace, it’s the
marketplace that’s responsible, the seller has nothing to do (but give BL’s IOSS
when necessary).

BL is registered to the IOSS, has an IOSS VAT ID, has implemented the mechanism
on time for July 1st, has already messaged about it (both e-mail and on the forum:
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1277484
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1278461 ), and has written two FAQs
about it:
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2518
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2517 .

The OSS VAT, One Stop Shop VAT, is for sellers in EU and Northern Ireland.  It’s
the one which has a threshold of 10,000€ of sales in other EU countries.

No, we don’t know why the message was sent to everyone.
Yes, it’s not very specific about whom is concerned.  (Though “other EU countries”
is a hint you have to be in a EU country, and the rule was already mentionned
in the first message about VAT, it would have been nice if it had been clearer…
even as a precision in a second message.)

Seriously if this is just a storm in a teacup then I apologise,

No real need for apologies, the message was not clear.

   I`ve just not
been able to confirm what you have stated myself due to zero EU sales since end
of April.

Well, there’s the other messages and the FAQs that say how it works.
There’s also a bunch of threads for sellers, generally because they didn’t get
the invoice or the IOSS, either because the sale didn’t need it (above €150 or
VAT-registered buyer) or because the buyer bypassed the Onsite payment to pay
off-site (so BL didn’t get the VAT but the seller did).
So there’s both theory and practice to confirm what Stellar said

If and when you sell to EU again although you may be limitied by the 10k limit
for Europe

There’s no “may,” the “10k limit” if for EU (and Northern Ireland) sellers only.

BL’s last message was sent to everyone and wasn’t specific enough and even if
the official EU websites are full of blah and not always clear either, there’s
a lot of web pages out there that explain particular cases if you look for them.

So, in short, again:
— OSS = for EU and NI sellers only, if they sell in EU (but not home country)
for more than 10,000€ per year, or if they want to.
— IOSS = for marketplaces, or non-EU sellers that don’t use a marketplace.

Non-EU, non-NI sellers: you sell through BL, BL takes care of the VAT when necessary,
there’s no thresholds nor other reasons for you to register anywhere.

Even if you sold to EU, you shouldn’t have to register:

1. To the “OSS” (One-Stop-Shop) VAT platform, with the 10,000€ threshold: It’s
for EU and Northern Ireland sellers.  You’re not in EU and you’re not in Northern
Ireland.

2. To the “IOSS” (Import OSS) VAT platform: You are selling through a marketplace
(BrickLink), it’s the marketplace that’s responsible, and BL has implemented
that.

That contradicts the help page that I linked to.

Help pages are not necessarily up-to-date.
You can check the date at the bottom (2010 & 2017 respectively).
There was no onsite payment methods in 2010.

As a seller and a buyer, I know that a buyer can check off that an order is paid
as per my linked help file.

1. Yes, a buyer can check the box… when the box is here to be checked.  But it’s
not here if the chosen payment method is “on-site,” in this case, it’s replaced
with a “Pay” button (that leads you to the payment site).

2. AFAI’ve been told, checking the box doesn’t change the status to Paid, it
just indicates that the buyer has said they have paid.  The seller still needs
to change the payment status (generally after having checked the payment was
received).

There are also dozens of forum questions about it.

As for your issue, I don’t have any other answers or suggestions.

that it's bad service and bad business from BrickLink to not offer people
options just because it's not easy. The only penalty I got was that I cannot
mark the order Shipped because of BL's infantile new payment status rules.
So, the order will be in my notifications for 6 months or so I guess! I am happy

I’m not a lawyer, I’m not an accountant, but I believe you just committed tax
fraud: you collected money that you say is taxes but it can’t be taxes because
you don’t have the right to collect taxes.
At the minimum, the money should be consigned with an indenpendant entity, it
should not stay on your own accounts.

Probably the best thing to do would be to refund it to the customer, who can
then pay the sales tax.

Probably.

While true, I thought there was some proviso for sellers with older accounts,
and this seller certainly meets those cutoffs.

The subject has come up in the past vis-a-vis US sellers who may want to accept

That’s not exactly how it works.

There’s indeed cutoffs to allow a seller to use other payment methods than PayPal
Online, which is the default and unique method for (very) new sellers: https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=18

But for buyers (and transactions) on which BL needs to collect taxes, BL only
presents the buyers with shipping methods that use on-site methods.
Thus the confusing “seller does not ship to you” message when there’s no shipping
method left for the buyer to use while the seller has put the buyer’s country
in their ship-to list.

So, the seller can be allowed to set-up (or grandfatheredly keep) off-line payment
methods… but the buyers can’t use them.

It’s like when a parent authorizes their kid to have a basket ball… but the kid
is not to play with it the house, or in the basement, or in the drive, or….

Ok, still I wonder, is it OK to register, file a 0-report as you say, and report
the EU VAT the way you always did it, since you're staying under the €10000?
Or does registering mean "OK, I am now obligated to use the new system"?

My understanding is that when you’re registered, you’re obligated to collect.

It’s the same thing with domestic VAT registration: there’s a threshold above
which you’re obligated to register, but you can choose to register below, and
if you choose to, then you need to follow the rules, even if you stay under the
threshold.
VAT registration is a status: by registering, you declare you need to or want
to have that status.  Once you have it, you have to act it… or you need to de-register
/ change your status.

Correct. And then there is the Small business registration (Kleine ondernemings
regeling, Kleinunternehmung). If registered as Small business you are not allowed
to charge or declare VAT.

Indeed, there’s other business statuses than VAT-registered. When I said “de-register,”
I meant “de-VAT-register” / get out of the VAT status you’re in.

Can anyone give me the directions to send him to check out so that he can place

Thank you in advance.

Where’s your buyer?

If they are in:
— UK,
— EU,
— most of the US states,
then BL may¹ need to collect taxes (Sales tax or VAT) on them and can only do
that with on-site payments (PP Onsite or Stripe).

The system automatically removes all your shipping methods that don’t use an
on-site payment for these buyers.

And, no, there’s no way to bypass that, the taxes are due and BL has to collect
them….

(¹ UK: only if below £135, EU: only if below €150, that is, for both, below $180.)

As far as I know, and I have seen the form to submit the sales here in Spain,
no, the is no such thing as OSS ID, it is just your VAT ID.

“What’s in a name…”

The OSS ID is indeed your VAT ID, the name is “OSS VAT ID.”
Same thing with IOSS ID (ImportOSS, for marketplaces), the complete name is “IOSS
VAT ID.”

It’s a bit like your “Intra-EU VAT ID” which is just your domestic VAT ID….

  […]
It's optional before the 10.000€, but I don't know if you register to
be able to report it then you need to charge Buyer VAT rate to all transactions.
Just in case I already updated my accounting software to handle all sales with
the buyer country VAT.

I think you need, see my answer to Teup: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1295180

Sorry for adding to the confusion, but...

You are in the USA, you’re not concerned.

10 000 ??? Does this mean 10,000 Euros? Or is the limit lower? Is it a single
shipment, or all shipments combined?

10,000€, per fiscal year, for all intra-EU sales.
It only concerns EU sellers and their sales in other EU countries (not their
own).

Registration ??? Is there a way to register through Bricklink, or is it at another
site and Bricklink will need to be identified?

Thanks for all clarifications.

You’re in the USA, you sell through BL (or other marketplaces).
BL is a registered marketplace in EU.
So you have nothing to do, just be sure to have an “on-site” payment method (PayPal
Onsite or Stripe) for your shipping methods to EU (and UK and the USA for states
with Sales tax) and BL will take care of the taxes when it’s needed.

I just noticed the difference with previous UK Orders.
This order from yesterday shows: Est. VAT
Figure this stands for Estimated and that this is the reason I don't get
a VAT Invoice.

But why don't I get a VAT Invoice, the VAT is 100% correct and 100% paid
by the buyer.
And why is called Estimated VAT all of a sudden.
Like all the other UK orders, it has been paid during instant checkout with PayPal
Onsite. I don't offer any other option.

Is it marked paid on BL?
Maybe it’s a return buyer who knows your PP address?

Hi Sander,

this is not a link to nowhere but to the dedicated forum for Studio and PartDesigner:
https://forum.bricklink.com/ (hover over the red Studio icon on every page, then
click “Studio Forum”).

Generally, if you’re using Studio, you would need to post here: https://forum.bricklink.com/viewforum.php?f=4
and if you’re using Studio Early Access, you would need to post here: https://forum.bricklink.com/viewforum.php?f=12

You may also want to read this post: https://forum.bricklink.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=6637
for a more direct way to reach the devs.
You’ll need to join the Prev_Player.log file, which can be found:

On Mac: Users YOUR USERNAME .local share Stud.io and the file name is
“Prev_Player.log”.
(Note: to see the hidden folders in your user folder (.local), press Shift+Cmd+.)

On Windows: find it under \Users\{UserName}\AppData\Local\Stud.io\Prev_Player.log
(As AppData is hidden, the easiest way to reach AppData is to enter %appdata%
(with the % signs) and navigate from there.)

selling over Euro 10k need to have an IOSS number or be registered in an OSS
scheme. (this is my understanding so far) so the only thing I pay VAT on with
bricklink is my fees.
There is also no exception for low value sales anymore Euro 22 or less. […]

This “EU threshold” applies only to EU sellers, for their intra-EU sales (excl.
domestic).

Non-EU sellers are in the other scheme, the marketplace scheme (already implemented
by BL):
— for sales under €150 to final buyers, VAT is collected by the markeplace (BL),
— for sales above €150 or to EU VAT-registered businesses, VAT is collected at
delivery (as before).

(Big sellers could register for IOSS on their own but then they are not in the
marketplace scheme anymore.)

To be honest you'd be better off incorporating the 5% into the sale price

no one likes a hidden surprise at checkout!

Also check your country's Paypal rules, it's against PP's rules in

It may also be against the law in you country (it is in France: no surcharge

Yes, that’s surprising.  Or is there (again) some complicated scheme with Northern
Ireland and either it affects all UK sellers or BL decided to send to all UK

Yes, excluding domestic sales.

If you sell only to your own country (under the 10000 EUR), you have to register
but won't be taxed?

No, you don’t have to register.

Also, it’s not the seller who is taxed, it’s their buyers.  What the seller may
be is liable to collect and remit taxes.
Au contraire, VAT-registered businnesses are less taxed because, in the end,
they don’t pay VAT (if they paid some VAT, they deduct it from the VAT they collected
before declaring and remitting it to the tax authorities).

I'm confused about the domestic part.

In their first communication they said:

' EU sellers that sell more than €10,000 of goods within the EU (but excluding
domestic transactions) per year will be required to be VAT registered in each
EU Member State it sells to or will need to register for the One Stop Shop (OSS)
scheme. '

Today they are speaking of 'Distance Sales'

If your sales in the preceding 12 months are above the new EUR 10 000 distance
sales of goods threshold, you will need to register for the OSS or in each individual
EU Member State where you sell on BrickLink.

My problem is, that the term distance sales and domestic sales are not equal.

What is missing in today’s statement is that the threshold is for non domestic
distance sales in EU (so, your sales to EU countries that are not your own EU
country).
That should be clear from the previous messages and from the EU texts but it
sure could have been repeated here too.

Cancel all the orders and restart the process to give everyone a fair chance.

There's no reason why you couldn't do that since nothing was shipped

What does fair chance mean? They already told people when they would go live
and let them order according to the published rules. How can they make it fairer
than that?

Hmm, I think I’ll try that with the lottery: “Hey! It’s not fair!  I didn’t
win!  Cancel and redraw!”  …until I win.

Some were deleted in that period, while some were newly introduced, but most
of the "perennial" colors (blue, yellow, red, green, white, black) were unchanged.

It wasn't until... I want to say 2006—2008?... that Lego started mixing their
own colors instead of receiving precolored granulate from their suppliers.

Yes, I think 2006 is the year most-often advanced for the start… for the end,
well, it’s TLG’s usual stock management.

I mixed up my dates (points in time; no rendez-vous nor fruits were harmed during
this brain fart).
Thanks for the correction

When you were talking about the limits of five per customer and how you're
going to limit it to one per customer now, you said :

Unfortunately, we saw a very small number of opportunistic customers hoarding sets and re-selling them for inflated prices.

I'm curious how people are re-selling them when they haven't even been
shipped yet? Have others had theirs ship? Because mine haven't.

First, nothing will ship before January.  The sets are not produced yet, they
barely made it to be okayed for this round (one didn’t and was postponed to a
future round).

  Am I missing something?

Some people are putting for sale items they don’t have.  Sometimes, they call
it “pre-order,” sometimes they don’t even bother.

Of course, most of the marketplaces have terms that forbid or regulate that.
E.g. it’s totally forbidden on BL, eBay has a 30 days limit to ship or something
like that.

Some may not even have a valid pre-order from LEGO.  A rank up (or is it down?)
on the scammers scale….

In this instance, it’s rather easy to spot them, that’s what BL/TLG is saying…
but that’s a whack-a-mole game with many moles.

If people would stop buying from such sellers….

You need to upgrade your account to seller and complete the new seller verification
process, but you can keep your store closed.
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2440

Are you sure the verification is mandatory?  Does the non-verification also blocks
using the inventory?  I thought it only prevented the store to be opened.

Yeah, I know about the previous run, but yes since now it's part of TLG,
putting this in Bricklink seems like not the most efficient way to do it, given
that there are resources and expertise over at Lego.com.

Well, apparently, not that much expertise: it’s not Ideas, and it’s not the previous
ADP either, and they got burnt.

And as far as I can
see there isn't really a Bricklink-specific ingredient to it. For example
if the parts were sourced from Bricklink's sellers it would make a whole
lot more sense to me... […]

BL is where AFOLs are, and they want it to be more than just a marketplace and
a catalogue (proofs with Studio on BL’s side and the failed LDD-make-your-own-set
on TLG’s).

Still don't
completely see why Bricklink should be tasked with it rather than Lego.com, but
at least that difference makes sense.

It’s because of the ADP (the 2018 version).  It was for any design, not Ideas
(and it was a test-run of collaboration between BL and TLG and ended with TLG
buying BL).

This BDP (the 2021 version) is some kind of test-run too, now that BL is in TLG.
But they wanted to go faster on the first stage, the choice of designs, and they
already had many designs that were supported by the target buyers, so they made
it an “Invitation” version: there was no months-long submission stage and pre-voting
like for ADP.

They don’t yet know (or at least not told us) if the next one (if there’s one
and TLG doesn’t scrap the all thing because grown-ups acting like toddlers deserve
to be treated as such) will also be by invitation or by submission, or both,
or neither….

(Another question is whether the next one will stay BDP or become CDP, then DDP,
EDP….)

So my answer isn't very good unless there some kind of double standard.

You need to go back to how the sets were selected:

Who will be invited?
Select designers whose project(s) acquired 10,000 votes on LEGO Ideas, but were
not approved for production, will be invited to participate in this Designer
Program. Unfortunately, IP-based designs will not be eligible for the Designer
Program, in addition to a few other projects that we know we unfortunately can’t
realize. The LEGO Ideas team will first contact the designers from January, and
then the BrickLink team will proceed with the onboarding process for participating
designers.”
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/community/newsview.page?msgid=1239834

So, there’s several possible reasons:
1. IP,
2. can’t be realized,
3. the designer didn’t agree,
4. the designer couldn’t agree (as belatedly happened with one designer).

To which we can add:
5. they couldn’t invite 40 or 50 designs,
6. and, obviously, the Anti-pirate Faction OverLords.

That’s a question that could have been asked as soon as the project were revealed
in March.  It might have been too.  But I think the answer was / would be the
same vague answer TLG makes for Ideas.
(They don’t want to give specific reasons when they can because there are times
when they can’t and it would be unfair, and the reasons aren’t always very nice
to the designers.)

If someone pays by bank transfer Hoe do I set the status to paid? How does BrickLink

For now, BL can only collect taxes with Onsite payment methods (PayPal Onsite
& Stripe).

BL doesn’t propose other payment methods to your buyers if there’s taxes to be
collected.

That means:
— most US buyers: always,
— UK buyers: if the amount is under £135,
— EU buyers: if the amount is under €150 and they are not VAT-registered on BL.

So your buyers shouldn’t be able to choose any other way.

If they still want to pay you, or do pay you, another way, then you should refuse
/ refund and ask them to use the onsite method, or cancel.

those.

It’s more than probable: for starters, there’s the thousands happy people who
could preorder what they wanted.

(And before anyone start personal attacks: I didn’t order any.)

Where did it come from? Not in the catalog.

Could be a LEGOland part, made for the LEGO builders.

A picture might help.

Or, instead of the usual yellowed Trans-Clear, an extremely rare cleared Trans-Yellow

Hmm, are you sure it’s not because BrickLink ditched insecure TLS 1.0 on its
servers and BrickStock has not been updated in a while and is thus unable to
use TLS 1.2 or 1.3?

I do not feel the need to prove much.

Sorry, my tone was harsher than intended.
But the purpose wasn’t for you to actually prove anything but to make you realize
that it’s neither obvious nor their task for a buyer to check whether your shop
is a business that is registered, incorporated, or what not, or an individual
who’s dumping a dozen of sets and will be gone, or anything in between (a side-business
that doesn’t need to be registered but whose profits need to be declared as such,
or a side-business that’s below all registration and declaration thresholds,
etc.).
A lot of small stores hide behind the term “hobby-seller” while clearly being
professionals (e.g. buying with the sole purpose of reselling).
There might also be sellers that are on multiple platforms and sell different
products and LEGO & BL is just a small part of what they do, so they appear small
here but are not.
BL doesn’t make a difference.
A buyer simply can’t know.

Sorry I didn’t think about the conditions before: I should have told about them

They are from Denmark, so I guess not Part of the eu? I don't have an ioss
link, and there is no VAT on on the order summary page. But I am still unable

don't worry about offending me, I am ignorant on international shipping.
😀

No, Denmark is in EU.

So there’s two possibilities for them not having to pay VAT and you not having
an IOSS:

1. The amount is above €150 (ca. $180).  That means the buyer will pay on delivery
(and there will be a fee and duty to pay too).

2. They are a VAT-registered business and BL knows that.

(Well, there’s a third possibility: a glitch in BL… but that never happens, right?)

If it’s one of those, then you don’t need the IOSS, the VAT is the responsibility
of the buyer.

Yes, and there should be a link in the order’s details page too:
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2517#ioss

Er, no offence but, are you sure they are in EU?  (E.g. Switzerland & Norway
are not in EU.)
I’m asking because they shouldn’t have been able to choose PayPal offsite.

Also check that there’s a VAT line in the details and a VAT column in the summary:

The latter is indeed not to do but the former is what BL says here: https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2517#ioss

(And yes, that seems contradictory as the CN-22 is sticked to the package….)

  […]
So does this mean it is acceptable for UK sellers to add

IOSS BRICKLINK

It would if BrickLink was in the short list of known marketplaces with eBay et
al.

I would say that it really depends on why the buyer is returning .

That’s not a factor in EU consumer law: the buyer has up to 14 full days¹ after
reception to return “with no questions asked.”

This is not fully correct, 1st I am not a retailer,

Prove it.

I believe you are.
You even say it yourself: “whose hobby outgrown the hobby phase.”
You’ve a store on a marketplace that doesn’t differentiate pro and less pro sellers.
A casual buyer can’t have to make calculations to know whether you are above
some turnover or profit threshold or if you filled some form they don’t even
know about because they are from another country.

  second I would think all
orders on bricklink could fall under "bespoke items" but this is debatable but
third, EU laws states that "Retailers are allowed though to ask for a return
fee." See: https://ecommercenews.eu/online-returns-in-europe/ (not a real source
but I am no lawyer).

Nice of you to cut the part where I told exactly that plus the important provision
that you can’t ask anything that isn’t in your terms BEFORE the sale.

You can still try to reach an agreement with your buyer but, legally: if you
didn’t say anything, you pay everything, period.

But you do make a valid point.

Can you post another angle?

Unfortunately i don't have a better angle : i'm trying to retro-engineer

Here's a couple more but we don't see much

With only the first picture, I’d have thought maybe a tyre… but not with the
other pics.

The teeth don’t look like standard LEGO gear teeth to me: smaller.

How does it connect with the rest?  Does it engage with another gear?
