To satisfy the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (known
as the 'GDPR' ), BrickLink will be making a few small changes to our
system in the next few weeks.

BrickLink’s commitment to safeguarding your data hasn't changed--your
privacy is of the utmost importance to us. Our current privacy policy outlines
how we collect, use, share and protect your personal data. You can view our privacy

In addition, we are in the process of developing tools to give users more control
over their personal data.

Requesting the removal of personal data

-For now, BrickLink members can request that their personal data is removed from
BrickLink during the unregister process by contacting the Helpdesk--our admins
will manually remove personal account data on a case-by-case basis. We’re working
on a tool that will automate this process and hope to have it ready within the
next few weeks.

-Even though security questions/answers were removed from the registration process
several years ago, there are many users who still have this information internally
tied to their account. We’ll develop a tool to be able to view/edit your security
question (if one is present) on the Account Information page.

New Seller Verification page update

To combat scammers, we require new users to submit personal information (i.e.
proof of identity, proof of address, etc.) to verify their account before they
can open their store and sell on BrickLink. To comply with GDPR, we will outline
exactly how this information is used, how long it’s stored, and the method by
which it is destroyed/removed from our system on the New Seller Verification
page.

Personal information vs order data

-Under this new legislation, personal data that is necessary to fulfil
a contract--such as personal information tied to a BrickLink order--does
not fall within the new rights of the customer. Users have the right to request
that their account information (name, address, email, and security question)
is removed from our system but they cannot request to have any order information
removed from our system. We must retain order data for tax/financial reporting
and in the event that it should be turned over to law enforcement.


Additional Details / FAQ

-We do not store any kind of payment information on BrickLink.
-Catalog contributions and order feedback do not qualify to be removed under
GDPR.
-In regards to appointing a dedicated Data Protection Officer (DPO), we do not
think that it's necessary since we are not handling a significant amount
of sensitive data.

Dear BrickLink members,

Each and every savvy BrickLink shopper knows that, at some point, it’s inevitable
to have multiple store carts open for different Wanted Lists or projects. As
your number of active store carts increases, keeping track of which items go
with which list becomes a bit of a struggle. To make matters worse, when you
eventually locate the carts you created to complete a particular Wanted List,
one of the stores may have closed or sold out of nearly everything you needed.
Nooooo!

To make it easier to manage multiple store carts, BrickLink has upgraded the
Global Shopping Cart. The upgrade will help prevent the “opposite of happy” emotion
you may feel when there’s an issue preventing you from checking out.

Features of Global Shopping Cart:

Import/export: You can now share store carts with other BrickLink users
by using the import and export functions on the Global Shopping Cart page.

Sources: An item’s source is the method by which it was added to your
cart; it can be added via Wanted List, Easy Buy, Imported, or manually through
the storefront. You can filter store carts by source to easily locate cart items
for specific projects.

Cart changes: When something about a cart has changed (e.g. an item price
has changed or the store changed its VAT rate), it will be flagged with a yellow
icon. The View cart button will take you inside of the cart where you can either
accept changes, update quantities, add items to Wanted List, or delete items.

Carts that require attention: Any cart that has an issue preventing checkout
(e.g. an item’s available quantity has changed or minimum buy not met) will be
flagged with a red icon. Carts with issues are grouped together in a collapsible
table below non-issue carts.

Delete carts: Individual carts that are in closed stores will be flagged
and allow you to delete them if needed.

New Conditional Block Macro Tag for Micropayments

We created a new conditional block macro tag when we heard that instant invoices
were not using the correct payment account when the order was within the micropayment
threshold.

ISMICROPAYMENT-EQ:{value}

"Value" can be:
Y - Payment method is either onsite or offsite PayPal and order grand total is
less than the micropayment threshold
N - Payment method is either onsite or offsite PayPal but order grand total is
equal or greater than the micropayment threshold

If the payment method is not PayPal or if the seller does not link their micropayment
account, the whole content inside the tag will be ignored.

*NEW* US Sales Tax Handling

The sales tax setting is optional.

-US Sellers now have a sales tax option in their store setting. Tax rates can
be entered for multiple states, zip codes, and zip code ranges (e.g. 92602-92603).

-Zip code rate will be used if one has been entered for the buyer's shipping
destination. The state tax rate will be used if there is no zip code rate entered
for the shipping destination.

-The tax field will be automatically displayed on the order summary. This field
is mandatory for buyers and sellers and cannot be turned off.

-The tax column will be displayed on the Orders Placed and Orders Received page.
This field is mandatory for buyers and sellers and cannot be turned off.

-For automated methods, logged-in buyers will see the order total--including
tax--in their shopping cart and when they are checking out.

-For manual methods, buyers will only see the order total & estimated fees (including
tax) at checkout if you have enabled the option to show estimated fees.

Please note: There is currently a bug that is preventing sellers from being able
to edit any of their unnamed splash pages. Thank you for your patience while
we get this sorted out!


Bug Fixes in Today's Deployment:


-Sellers with two splash pages cannot reorder them
-New buyers cannot confirm their email address when using the "Resend email confirmation"
link @ checkout
-Seller's insurance/tracking settings are not applied to the checkout page

-USPS Shipping Rate Charts were outdated
-Cart error "ORDER_ITEM_TOTAL_MISMATCHED" caused by rounding
-Instant Invoices are not respecting conditional macro tags
-No line breaks shown when previewing an invoice
-Invoice icon is not updating after an instant invoice is sent.

Site Enhancements:

-Added an option to include My Cost in the order history downloads.
-Wildcard is now supported for the package dimension item number search.
-Improved visibility of "You can't buy more than is available" flag in storefront.

-Shipping method window is not large enough on the Edit Order page.
-Instant Checkout is not working when one of the package restriction dimensions
is below 19mm (0.75 inches).
-The weight band minimum weight value is missing in the Courier API rate chart.


General Bug Fixes:

-Super lots not linking correctly through Price Guide.
-Sorting options not applied to wanted list items.


Site Enhancements:

-Added an inventory filter to show instant checkout unavailable items.
-Updated the error handling method when a buyer's email has not been confirmed
during checkout.
-Sellers now have the ability to file quotes.
-Removed the ability for users to see a list of members who have stoplisted them.
**FYI- removing this was my request as it caused way too many unnecessary arguments
and stress for community members.

If you have recently received any duplicate orders (same buyer but one order
has items and the other is blank), please send me a direct message with the order
number and we will remove it from the system. There was a bug caused by PayPal
payment status handling which has now been fixed.

Instant Checkout Bug fixes:

-Duplicate/blank order generated due to PayPal payment status.
-Changing currency while VAT is enabled causes the page to freeze.
-"Import shared method" button should be disabled when no shared methods are
available.
-UI adjustments for Edit Zone modal.
-Nothing happens when a user clicks on down caret in Shipping Locations.

General Bug Fixes:

-No error detail message is displayed when color info is missing from Add Part
Inventory page.
-Incorrect help link for "Disallow members with neg. feedback score to buy in
my store".
-System error on cart page due to null avg lot value.

Site Improvement:

Staff admins can now block profanity and certain words from being used in usernames.

Hello everyone,

Thank you again for reporting problems with Instant Checkout on the forum and
through the help desk! First of all, I wanted to apologize to those who are frustrated
over a lack of response from the team during this critical time. I will continue
to keep the community updated as much as possible but since my posts can be easily
overlooked, please use this link to filter posts from my account:

Bug Fixes Released to Production:

-Incorrect info displayed for item dimensions.
-Creating a shipping method fails when the system can’t get a proper currency
ID.
-Insurance price row can't be deleted inside shipping method settings.
-System error on cart page due to null average lot value.
-Creating a shipping method fails sometimes if the system can't get a proper
currency id.

Pending Bug Fixes:


-Outdated USPS rate charts.
-Unexplained price jump caused by Seller updating shipping methods while Buyer
is checking out.
-Instant Checkout Store Filter not working on Buy Wanted List page.
-Insurance field disappears after selecting all and then deleting the option.
-Browser freezes after opening new zones multiple times.
-Changing currency while VAT is enabled causes the page to freeze.
-Weight band minimum weight value is missing in the Courier API rate chart.
-[New] Shipping suggestion pop-up missing from Orders Received page

Wishes Added to Development Queue:

-Allow Seller to add tracking fee when an order is over a certain amount.
-Add handling fee option when item price is under a certain amount.
-Work on US sales tax issue / add new tax field to Orders Received page.
-[New] No indicators to show which lines in store cart have errors.
-[New] Add option to search inventory for items missing dimension info.

The highly anticipated feature, Instant Checkout, is now available for use! Instant
Checkout brings a new and convenient way to buy on BrickLink instantly without
waiting for an invoice. Stores that enable Instant Checkout will benefit from
a reduction in order cancellation requests and non-paying buyers. In addition,
those stores will be more frequently exposed to buyers due to a new filtering
option to show stores that support Instant Checkout throughout BrickLink.

to filter stores by Instant Checkout support on the Wanted List Buy, Catalog
Item, and Find Stores page.

Hello Sellers,

An updated preview release of Instant Checkout is now available on https://preview.bricklink.com.
We are still working on the final QA for this project but wanted to allow sellers
to play around with the new settings before its official launch.

Please make sure to close all open BrickLink browser tabs before entering the
sandbox environment. You will also need to clear your cache when switching between
BrickLink and the preview site.

NOTE: A warning will only be displayed the first time you enter the preview site,
unless you have deleted your cookies or switched browsers. Please pay careful
attention to the URL to make sure you are in the intended area of BrickLink.
All preview areas will have “preview” in the URL.

Updates:

-Item packaging dimensions are now visible in the catalog.
-New API for USPS courier (and the potential to add more in the future).
-The ability to set specific discounts or fees for payment types.
-An option in Store Settings to force Instant Checkout for new* buyers (turned
on by default).
*New buyer = less than 100 days of account history and less than 5 positive feedback
from different legitimate sellers.
-An option in Store Settings to use invoice when an order cannot be placed with
an instant checkout shipping method due to missing data.


Reminders:

- You will see two tabs for shipping methods on the preview site: “Shipping Methods”
(the classic version) and “New Shipping Methods.” We kept both tabs for now so
that you can compare the two. Keep in mind that new shipping methods added on
the preview site will look differently on either tab since the new version has
many different fields -- this is not a bug.

- Emails are turned off on the preview site.

We've created several test accounts so that sellers can preview Instant Checkout
as a buyer in their own store. Based on your Ship-To locations, you can use one
of the following accounts for testing purposes on the preview site:
