*NEW* US Sales Tax Handling

The sales tax setting is optional.

-US Sellers now have a sales tax option in their store setting. Tax rates can
be entered for multiple states, zip codes, and zip code ranges (e.g. 92602-92603).

-Zip code rate will be used if one has been entered for the buyer's shipping
destination. The state tax rate will be used if there is no zip code rate entered
for the shipping destination.

-The tax field will be automatically displayed on the order summary. This field
is mandatory for buyers and sellers and cannot be turned off.

-The tax column will be displayed on the Orders Placed and Orders Received page.
This field is mandatory for buyers and sellers and cannot be turned off.

-For automated methods, logged-in buyers will see the order total--including
tax--in their shopping cart and when they are checking out.

-For manual methods, buyers will only see the order total & estimated fees (including
tax) at checkout if you have enabled the option to show estimated fees.

As a long-time LEGO-only marketplace, this is a huge change for us. BrickLink
has survived by selling LEGO products alone for nearly 17 years. You may be thinking

Will this change the current listing policy?

We will be updating the listing policy to provide clarification but it will remain
relatively unchanged.

How will BrickArms fit in the current catalog structure/taxonomy?

-Brands-

BrickArms items are now positioned in parallel with LEGO as a 'brand’–a whole
new concept for BrickLink. On the Catalog Browse page, users can toggle
between All Brands, LEGO, and BrickArms items.

We’ve added all of the BrickArms items to our catalog and attached the BrickArms
logo above the item number to differentiate them from LEGO products.

-Catalog Tree-

Several new categories will be added to the existing catalog tree. There will
also be options to view the entire tree, just LEGO categories, or just BrickArms
categories.

-Color Guide-

Similar to Modulex colors, which are prefixed with Mx, BrickArms colors will
be prefixed with BA and will be at the bottom of the color guide. To prevent
data inaccuracies, sellers will not be allowed to apply LEGO colors to BrickArms
items (and vice versa) when adding items to their inventory.

Who will maintain the BrickArms catalog?

We assigned a BrickLink staff member to maintain the BrickArms catalog, process
any incoming BrickArms change requests, and add newly released BrickArms items
to the catalog. Our community volunteer admins will not be subject to any
additional workload with these changes.


How do I find BrickArms items on BrickLink?

You can now search by “brand” on the Catalog main page and on the Advanced
Catalog Search
page. You will also be able to filter by “brand” in the left
panel of storefront pages and in search results.

How do I add BrickArms items to my BrickLink store inventory?

Sellers can add individual BrickArms items to their inventory by using
the Sell Item page or add multiple BrickArms items at once by using
the Mass Inventory Upload page. At this time, users will not be able to
part out BrickArms sets to their inventory.

How can I report missing or incorrect data for BrickArms items in the
catalog?


Users will be able to fill out a Catalog Change Request if they spot incorrect
information on a BrickArms catalog item page. All incoming BrickArms catalog
change requests will be processed by a BrickLink staff member.

I’m only interested in selling LEGO items. Can I hide BrickArms colors
from the Add Inventory Item page?


Of course! BrickArms colors are included in the color list on the Add Inventory
Item
page by default, but these colors can be hidden by visiting your Default
Sell Item
options.

We invite all of our sellers to get on board with BrickArms. These items will
be made available on the public site in one week barring any technical issues.
By the time some initial inventories are filled in around early January, we'll
begin a site-wide launch promotion and marketing campaign to boost sales and
attract BrickArms fans to the site. We hope this addition will not only increase
incoming orders but will also provide creative building inspiration for all members
to explore.

Please note: There is currently a bug that is preventing sellers from being able
to edit any of their unnamed splash pages. Thank you for your patience while
we get this sorted out!


Bug Fixes in Today's Deployment:


-Sellers with two splash pages cannot reorder them
-New buyers cannot confirm their email address when using the "Resend email confirmation"
link @ checkout
-Seller's insurance/tracking settings are not applied to the checkout page
for USPS API Method
-Store global minimum buy can be higher than shipping method min. buy
-Missing error message in shipping settings when user tries to delete a weight
band
-Parts package type option can't change from manual back to no status

Site Improvements:

-Added a "Default" indicator next to the default splash page in Store Settings.
-Updated the currency selection style @ checkout = if a seller has more than
5 accepted currencies and no currency notes, there will be a drop-down menu instead
of a long list of currencies to select.
-Changed the daily maintenance text from EDT to EST

We applied quick fixes for the following urgent issues in the past week:

-"By Request" insurance is being automatically added to the order cost
-Instant Checkout batch orders are getting separated on the Orders Received page
-USPS Shipping Rate Charts were outdated
-Cart error "ORDER_ITEM_TOTAL_MISMATCHED" caused by rounding
-Instant Invoices are not respecting conditional macro tags
-No line breaks shown when previewing an invoice
-Invoice icon is not updating after an instant invoice is sent.

Site Enhancements:

-Added an option to include My Cost in the order history downloads.
-Wildcard is now supported for the package dimension item number search.
-Improved visibility of "You can't buy more than is available" flag in storefront.

-Shipping method window is not large enough on the Edit Order page.
-Instant Checkout is not working when one of the package restriction dimensions
is below 19mm (0.75 inches).
-The weight band minimum weight value is missing in the Courier API rate chart.


General Bug Fixes:

-Super lots not linking correctly through Price Guide.
-Sorting options not applied to wanted list items.


Site Enhancements:

-Added an inventory filter to show instant checkout unavailable items.
-Updated the error handling method when a buyer's email has not been confirmed
during checkout.
-Sellers now have the ability to file quotes.
-Removed the ability for users to see a list of members who have stoplisted them.
**FYI- removing this was my request as it caused way too many unnecessary arguments
and stress for community members.

If you have recently received any duplicate orders (same buyer but one order
has items and the other is blank), please send me a direct message with the order
number and we will remove it from the system. There was a bug caused by PayPal
payment status handling which has now been fixed.

-Changing currency while VAT is enabled causes the page to freeze.

-UI adjustments for Edit Zone modal.
-Nothing happens when a user clicks on down caret in Shipping Locations.

General Bug Fixes:

-No error detail message is displayed when color info is missing from Add Part
Inventory page.
-Incorrect help link for "Disallow members with neg. feedback score to buy in
my store".
-System error on cart page due to null avg lot value.

Site Improvement:

Staff admins can now block profanity and certain words from being used in usernames.

through the help desk! First of all, I wanted to apologize to those who are frustrated
over a lack of response from the team during this critical time. I will continue
to keep the community updated as much as possible but since my posts can be easily

We are still working on the final QA for this project but wanted to allow sellers
to play around with the new settings before its official launch.

-Item packaging dimensions are now visible in the catalog.
-New API for USPS courier (and the potential to add more in the future).
-The ability to set specific discounts or fees for payment types.
-An option in Store Settings to force Instant Checkout for new* buyers (turned
on by default).
*New buyer = less than 100 days of account history and less than 5 positive feedback
from different legitimate sellers.
-An option in Store Settings to use invoice when an order cannot be placed with
an instant checkout shipping method due to missing data.


Reminders:

- You will see two tabs for shipping methods on the preview site: “Shipping Methods”
(the classic version) and “New Shipping Methods.” We kept both tabs for now so
that you can compare the two. Keep in mind that new shipping methods added on
the preview site will look differently on either tab since the new version has
many different fields -- this is not a bug.

- Emails are turned off on the preview site.

How to Place Test Orders in Your Own Store

We've created several test accounts so that sellers can preview Instant Checkout
as a buyer in their own store. Based on your Ship-To locations, you can use one
of the following accounts for testing purposes on the preview site:
