BrickLink Ceases Operations in Mainland China

When is this change happening?

All BrickLink member accounts based in mainland China will be deleted on September 30th, 2024.

Why is this happening?

This change is happening to comply with the Personal Information Protection Law of the People's Republic of China (PIPL). According to this law, a ll personal information generated in mainland China must be held within mainland Chinese borders. Since BrickLink doesn’t have a separate platform based in China, we cannot comply with this data privacy requirement.  

How does this affect buyers?

Buying privileges will be revoked for all mainland Chinese buyers on August 1st, 2024. Orders must be set to ‘Completed’ status by September 30th, 2024.

How does this affect sellers?

Selling privileges will be revoked for all mainland Chinese sellers on August 1st, 2024. Orders must be set to ‘Completed’ status by September 30th., 2024, at which point the stores will be permanently closed.

BrickLink is owned by the LEGO Group, which operates in mainland China. Why are BrickLink member accounts being deleted but LEGO accounts are not? 

The LEGO Group has servers in mainland China dedicated to storing data for online accounts. However, BrickLink operates independently of the online LEGO Shop infrastructure. Our servers are located in the United States. 

If I am no longer able to have a BrickLink account, will I still be able to use Studio?

Yes. BrickLink accounts are not required to download and build with Studio. However, without a BrickLink account, you will no longer be able to upload creations to the Studio Gallery.
