| Is it possible to part out sets to your stockroom and when you take the parts
out of stockroom have them combine to parts you already have listed without making
2 listings for parts you already have. I want to do the computer work first before
I do the physical work but not if is going to give me for example listings for
2 sets of black technic pins, blue technic axle pins, etc.

| Hi everyone,
This is my first post on here, so apologies if I get the format wrong.
I recently won a large lot of loose Lego at auction, (for too much money), and
have been working my way sorting through it all.
What hooked me was that it came with 30+ instruction sheets, all from the late
80's and early 90's, plus the box for 6542 Launch and Load and 6286 Pirate
Schooner.
Having now spent a couple of surprisingly enjoyable weeks cleaning and picking
out bits, I have 21 near complete sets (minus any Minifigures), but also normally
missing a couple of special pieces.
My question is - What should I do with it now?!
should I (A) looking to buy all of the missing parts (currently 215, inc. minifigs
across 21 sets) to complete the set and sell as 100% complete.
Overall it seems that I need to spend 25-35% of the set selling price to complete.
Or (B) part out and save myself the time of buying the parts to sell them on?
Part of me feels that it would be nice to complete them, but it will also take
a lot longer to get things up and running.
Note - given their age there are also a fair few discoloured parts which I would
want to de-yellow before selling.
All lot of the left over basic part will just join my son's collection.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks,
P.S. Not sure what happened to the photos flipping!

I'm currently putting together some sets which need a few parts to complete.
Going by the instructions, you have a few nice ones.
You've obviously already checked the prices and weighed up your profit margin
but are those percentages of your intial cost or the selling price?
It's also worth checking how often the sets sell. In my case, that's
just in the UK for now.
Consider whether you want to sell them quickly or if you're happy to sit
on them for longer to get a better price. If you check your sets that other sellers
have in their stores, you can see when they listed them. Ebay, Gumtree, Facebook,
etc. is better for a quick sale but normally at a lower price.
I know some sellers use Ebay for complete sets and their BL store for parts.
I do when the selling fees are £1.
For example, one of my sets has only sold once on here in the UK in the last
6 months but I've seen it go several times on Ebay for what I consider good
prices.
I've freshened-up some yellowed parts, but as many people will tell you,
they discolour again and sometimes quickly, so I won't sell them. Also, even
though older sets/parts would be expected to show signs of wear, everyone has
a different idea of what's acceptable.
That's just my way of thinking but I hope it's of some help.

25-35% seems a bit high to me. I don't have a good rule of thumb because
I hardly sell any sets, but it just seems high. Are there any sets where the
cost needed to complete is a bit lower than that? Maybe focus on completing those
together with the sets for which you have boxes.

This set was produced after LEGO had adjusted their color palette, it is not
exactly uncommon for a mixture of new and old greys to be found in the same set
in this era. LEGO never threw anything away, so they used their remaining inventory.
The inventory will probably need to be adjusted, or at the very least a footnote.
There are other sets from the same time that are missing the same clarification.

Some sets have numbered bags. Some have clear bags. When clear bags are used,
LEGO can fiddle with how parts are bagged at the factory, so the ability to predict
that is not available.

Unless someone has already done it, then you will have to follow the manual part
by part but it takes some time for even a 1000 piece set. For the UCS MF, it
will take a long time!

Hi Randy,
I do believe that the very first version had 10 Metallic Silver wheels.
That's what I remember from my own MISB set from my personal collection but
I didn't document it so not 100% sure. But user bricktrain in eurobricks
seems to agree:
https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/172938-questions-about-8285-tow-truck/
I do believe he's on BrickLink too, it would be awesome if he joined this
thread.
Cheers,
Renato
|
I did not find any evidence in my research that showed any set having 10 silver
wheels, and I looked at a lot of documented sealed sets. If there is definitive
proof somewhere in pictures that shows a sealed set with 10 silver wheels, then
I can adjust the inventory for that.
Cheers,
Randy
|
My original 4 sets had 10 silver wheels, as did one I recently purchased used
in a collection I bought. The last w/o new ones I bought had 6 silver and 4 grey
wheels, later buyers found 10 grey wheels. That is why the inventory showed
the 3 options.
|
Thank you Paul,
That's exactly my recollection and the photo depicting the Model B shows
at least 8 metallic silver wheels (although the photos are not always 100% accurate
too).
|
My original comment still stands. If there is definitive proof somewhere in pictures
that shows a sealed set with 10 silver wheels, then I can adjust the inventory
for that. I will not be making changes based on recollection or on prototype
set images.
|
Maybe there is a language barrier here, but I don't find this wording very
amicable?
I never suggested that you would make changes to the inventory, I only offered
my help if anyone had questions about the version I have at hand. That's
all.
I suggested that are 3 versions, you said there are 2, according to your investigations.
My "recollection" is corroborated by Bricktrain, who bought 4 (four) MISB sets
plus 1 (one) second handed with 10 metallic silver wheels, back in the day.
For *me* that is proof enough.
I don't need changes on the inventory, didn't ask for that, thank you.
|
Its funny that the set pictures all show ten metallic silver wheels

it says that if the buyer submitted the request and the seller agrees then they
will be added back.
I can't seem to find anything about adding them from the other way around.
It seems I now have to add each part and quantity by hand is that the case?
|
Yeah... For now only if the Buyer requests the cancelation is when you can add
them back if you want.
The systems thinks that if the sellers does the request is because they no longer
have the items.
It would be good to make a suggestion to change that and have the option always,
as most times the sellers do this is by buyer request.

Why would Lego double-package it like that? Did they used to do this for all

This has nothing to do with the size of the set. All or at least most town
sets from 1997-2000 had individual printed bags. It is just a special case here
that all parts are included in one bag so it looks like it could also be a polybag
set.

Had similar bags. Also approaching the Lego time of near bankruptcy. The only
waste I see is the printing though, as the parts would have been in a bag anyway.

Thanks for posting a nice photo of the outer box Popsicle! Yeah, it looks to

Yes. This has been mentioned many times over the years here. When putting the
mold together to manufacture some 32064 parts, someone must have accidentally
put half of the mold of the '+' version of the axle hole into the same
mold cavity as half of the mold of the 'x' version of the axle hole.
It is a nice oddity to collect.
| and how do you go about selling it?
|
List it under either entry with a descriptive note stating that it is a manufacturing
defect that has been molded with a different shaped axle hole on each side.
It will not be added to the catalog as it is technically a manufacturing defect.
Cheers,
Randy

|
Not on BL, you have to use xml files to mass edit dimensions. And do not do this
at least until BL has fixed the new improved inventory page which still does
not work. If you make your own dimensions and change anything (quantities, prices,
settings, tiers whatever) the z dimension become the same as the x dimension
and you have to redo everything you did for the dimension change in the first
case.
If you decide to continue, change all your minifigs to volume by downloading
your inventory, keeping the lot numbers and making the condition of INVTREATAS
equal to S.
Then set your dimensions with INVDIMX, INVDIMY and INVDIMZ for each individual
minifig or pick a standard dimension and copy that in. Upload the new xml file
as a mass update.
Make sure you keep backups of the files and edit them manually every time you
add, remove of sell a lot. See the below threads as well.

|
Yes.
Alternates generally are about variants (type of clip…), but they also cover
change in colour (mostly for Great Colour Shift of 2003 when the old greys were
replaced by the bluish greys (among other colour changes)).
Note that you can also find a mix of the Alternate and Regular in a new sealed
set: LEGO just put whatever they have, they don’t care about variants like BL
does.
So if the BL inventory says N parts of variant a in Regular and N parts of variant
b in Alternate, you may find any combination of variants a and b in your N parts.
There’s a special use for the Alternate section: when a set has been revised
(different versions but still the same set for LEGO). In that case, admins use
the MID (match ID) 99 (rightmost column). And there’s a note at the end of the
inventory.

(L’autocorrection est très drôle )
Sur la page the 57029c01, just sous l’image, il y a « Related Items ». Clique

Most mistakes like this are almost human made.
But if you sync with the other marketplace, then there you have a log of remarks

Under the heading "selling" you will see your lots for sale. Next to that are
the reserved lots and next to that all lots in stockrooms. Click on that for
details.
Alternatively, if you only sue Stockroom A, go to:
https://www.bricklink.com/inventory.asp
Under "Search My Inventory" Select stockroom A and click on Go

Thank you for your answer but, as you can see in the pictures attached, all the
sets I have listed have the "LEGO House" logo except for:
4000010 the writing "House" is different
21037 is defined as Architecture
40199 and 4000026 are exclusive to Billund Airport
Set 6232682 is not listed everywhere because it is a gift for Kladno employees
made in 100 or 200 pieces.
P.s. i insert also the "personalized minifigures" because i made it last week
inside LEGO House in Billund
If you are aware of other sets with the logo let me know
Thanks

| I've had same issue with Ninjago figs.
Njo008, Njo020, Njo023 for example.
Inventory lists as a blocked open stud, hollow stud variant is not linked to
any minifig, but listed as an alternative in the set each minifig comes in. I've
just listed as hollow stud variant in comments on listing.

of the sets is an opened but complete
The inventory says the minifigs should have type C blocked open stud heads but
3 of them have type B hollow stud heads.
There aren't any which is supposedly the only one with a type

I've seen some inventories with a note to say that both stud types have been

Substitutions, as well as incomplete minifigs, are a pet peeve, and I don't
want to list them if they break the rules. Should I request that the alternate
head be noted in the inventory or should the catalog be updated so that the type
B head is associated with both minifigs?

I list such minifigs with the description "latter production, hollow stud mold

Some collectors don't care to know, a good percentage do though.
