| This post has been around for a while, but it's exactly the enhancement I'd
like to see implemented.
Example: If I have a particular torso on my wantlist, and I'm shopping for
parts, I'd also like to see any minifigs for sale that have that torso.
There's a good chance I might buy the fig instead.
Thanks.
In Suggestions, TomHop writes:
| After a brief search I could not find anything on the following, so there goes
my first post.
Sometimes I have parts like a hinge plate 1 x 2 with 1 finger (the old hinges)
on my wanted list.
This can be found
- as such , just this part
- in a parts assembly (together with the 2 finger hinge plate)
- in a set
If I search for any directly I can find them, no problem.
Nevertheless an option like "include part assembly in search" and/or "include
sets in search" would save me doing 3 different searches, besides possibly adding
all possible combinations to my wanted lists (risking missing out on a good purchase
or duplicating parts).
I would expect an option like this in the wanted list, (search and shop options),
shop search and catalog search for example.
To avoid massive search results ( if you have big wanted lists and/or very common
parts on the wanted list) a tickbox could be added at wanted list item level:
to indicate whether you want this to be eligable for the above options or not.
I am looking for feedback on the idea. Did I simply mis an option that I can
use? How can I propose it to the administrators?
Thanks for reading and feedback is really apreciated
Best regards,
Tom

Randy,
I am not sure what you mean by "symmetry" so I studies all the symmetries of
this car. See photo attached.
The reflection along the yellow line is one symmetry, but we can surely assume
that there is no preference between the front and back of this car so we get
a reflection along the red line. Overall, the group of symmetries of this car
has four elements and its group structure is
Z/2Z + Z/2Z
This group is not cyclic and depending on the symetry we choose, we can get four
different answers.
Sorry, I know my presentation is too simple and is not at the level of complexity
of your question but this is the best I could do.
Cheers,
Reza

Hi Reza!
Okay, look at the image below. The left side shows the car from the instructions
with the "TRANSPORT" sticker attached on one door. The right side shows the car
mirrored to simulate the opposite side of the car. Therefore, shouldn't the
"TRANSPORT" sticker on that side be on the

What I meant to say was that the part comes as one complete unit in the sets
directly from LEGO and is counted as one part by LEGO. There is no need to assemble
it, and it is not meant to be disassembled. I was rushing through messages before,
so I didn't explain it well enough.

That makes sense. I did have a strong suspicion that the parts came pre-assembled
in sets, since that chassis is a juniorized part (for young kids), and the precise
force that would be required to put the 2X2 modified plates on the underside
looked like something that would take adult level effort.

I can't say what camera, but for pictures like this a macro lens is required
to get close in shots with tiny objects like Lego. If Mark is using a DSLR of
some kind or comparable then shooting uncompressed photos will retain sharper
images.
I can't say what filters Mark used, but a polarizer filter can help greatly
with reducing reflective / semi-reflective surfaces like Lego.
And Mark is most likely using a light box of some sort or using white surfaces
of some kind to bounce the light for even lighting/softer shadowing.
Hopefully Mark will be back to elaborate but hopefully this information is helpful

My box was not sealed, but the bags were. The hoses were not inside bags, so I'm floating this out there and reasonable confidence. The hoses were meant to be cut to the lengths in the instructions (which match what the inventory currently says). My rigid hose was 1 stud short of what the inventory shows and was in a sealed bag. The gears were in a sealed bag too, which is strange because they aren't in the instructions anywhere. I am guessing that the bag of little parts is common to more than one set.

It always makes me feel weird when Bricklink is being all "shhhh don't mention

I was confused on this. I can see when I reread your post that you were presenting
a series of different possibilities, instead of one idea backed up by three facts
as I originally read your post. So ignore what I said here.
No, the contents of your set are not true and original. Your statements are
self-contradictory.
|
It took me significant efforts to buy these two sets from overseas, convince
the seller to ship them and buy for him a shipping label. It also took me few
hours to check the contents of the two sets and find the differences with the
inventory on BL. I did them for these two sets because it is very hard to find
them in new condition.
Overall I considered all possibilities and so I believe that the contents are
new and original.
I am not sure why you undermine my efforts by giving a one-line proposition that
the contents of my sets are not true and original. Have you seen any photos of
them? The majority of parts in one set are in sealed bags. Based on what facts
did you decide that the content is not true and original?

Randy,
I am not sure what you mean by "symmetry" so I studies all the symmetries of
Cheers,
Reza

I am curious now. Is this allowed? Because the links were not directly shared
of BO but overall this seems like a conflict on interest with the TOS? Yeah,
no?
|
It depends on the distance and it depends on how you define the distance. I have
two definitions at hand:
Definition one: the distance between two websites is the minimum number of clicks
required to go from one website to the other.
In this case, this distance would be three: first click on the link that he
provided. The second click would be on "fup", and the third would be on one of
his images.
Definition two: 1+ "the minimum number of websites required to be visited"
Based on this definition, the distance would be 2 because one only need to visit
mfav's website to get from here to the other website.
Bricklink follows the first definition. The rule that they follow on Bricklink
depends on the other website:
For Ebay, the distance cannot be more than 25018 otherwise the thread will be
cancelled.
For BO, the distance cannot be more than 888102 otherwise the thread will be
cancelled.
For Lego.com, the distance could me more than 99999999 for threads posted before
December 2019. Since December 2019, the distance is allowed, sorry, it is encouraged
to be one.

Hopefully not for long. But perhaps I can shed some insight as I have a background
as a photographer/videographer.
Hopefully Mark will be back to elaborate but hopefully this information is helpful
in the meantime.

I could not locate the correct tire without the VR designation on the Bricklink site. I took a picture if you want it for verification.
I bought one complete set (372824) and it was correct, but the extra tire I bought included the VR. That's how I discovered the problem.

* Change 4 Part Pearl Dark Gray {78c13 Hose, Ribbed 7mm D. 13L to 78c12 Hose, Ribbed 7mm D. 12L}
* Change 4 Part Pearl Dark Gray {75c29 Hose, Rigid 3mm D. 29L / 23.2cm to 75c28 Hose, Rigid 3mm D. 28L / 22.4cm}
Comments from Submitter:
I am not sure how far I will go into this set tonight because I have another one on the way and will want to sort them together. But I was taking pictures of opening the set and these pieces were the only ones you can examine because the bags are opaque.
Ribbed hoses are always a little variable, but these are pretty close on 12L and only exist in this color in this set. I also compared to some purple 12L I have too and these are 1 rib longer.

The box art clearly shows that one light gray
and one light gray
are used on the roof. I believe this is an evidence that the inventory of this
set was changed before the first production run as the box art shows it.
By the way, my neat used copy also confirm this. I think this inventory request
should be accepted and it is correct. If one day, somebody finds a reliable evidence
that this set came with the light gray plates shown in the instructions, then
we can switch this back (but I doubt)
If you need a high quality photo of the box, let me know.

I have looked at photos of used sets and did not find any with the 6x14 plate.
At least none where the photo quality was good enough to recognize the individual
plates. Some photos where very low quality so I could not determine which plates
were used in those sets.
|
Could someone update the note on the inventory? It doesn't make sense any
more because there are no bricks with match ID 1.
Anyway, I remember clearly that two of my childhood sets came with other bricks
than the instructions showed. One was this set and it were indeed the light gray
roof plates in question.
BTW - the other set was 928, that also had a different LG plate, but I can't
find anyone that has been able to confirm this in other sets than mine.

No, I genuinely didn't realize that you made this error. You referred to

However, to move beyond confusion and typographical errors to address the primary

| In Suggestions, waltzking writes:
| I think BrickLink has a broken order process now due to the ever changing online
buying experience. For me I have seen an influx of buyers since the LEGO takeover
of BL, most new, but many clearly aware of the site though having limited use
of it in the past.
These buyers are often of the mindset that they are the ones calling the shots
on cancellations, payment time frames, etc. all while having no regard for the
BL or my store terms regarding such. Anything from unilateral ability to
cancel, expectations of free shipping, allowance to pay 10-days after ordering,
etc. and just the general "buyer rules" attitude that other selling sites (need
I name them?) have allowed buyers to abuse sellers with. These other sites have
taken some steps to protect sellers and buyer alike, but BL has fallen behind
the times.
Granted, these buyers are often new to BL which has a major learning curve, but
when you sell the exact same item 3 times in one week, and all 3 buyers want
to cancel after accurate shipping is invoiced for, it gets annoying. Why not
ask for a quote? And why only ask to cancel after days of the invoice being
sent? This and the increase in NPB buyers tying up stock have left me convinced
payment time-frame allowances need to be changed. The following is my view of
the changes this site needs to consider to move forward in a all-parties friendly
way:
Suggested Changes
1a: NPB should be changed to allowable to be filed 3-days from invoice (not
the order date). This would be similar to other online selling sites. Not
auto-started, but optional so situations and agreements allowing additions, extended
payment, etc. can all still run as before.
1b: NPB should be allowed to complete after 7-days from the invoice date (4
days of being opened). 14 days (21 if buyer responds) is a ludicrous amount
of time to send payment or tie up a sellers stock. 7-days is actually really
long, but much better than 14-21.
Most all decent buyers pay well before 3-days, and a NPB started is simply a
reminder to pay as it cannot be completed unless the buyer fails to ever pay.
So I can only see this as a positive change making bad situations end sooner
than later and keeping stock available on the marketplace.
2: Additionally I would suggest that a feature be added to protect sellers
WHILE allowing unconditional buyer requested cancellations. However, if
a cancellation is buyer requested the buyer should not be allowed to leave a
review (or an auto-positive given by default), and they should by default be
given a feedback showing an "Order Was Canceled By Buyer" message with a neutral
rating by default. Like an NPB's three-times-and-you're-out policy,
the buyer cancel option should be limited to 2, maybe 3 in a 6-month period,
or something reasonable. This allows buyers a true out when needed, and protects
the seller who after a customer gets pushy or rude the ability to safely allow
cancellation (when the buyer initiates) without needing the NPB and now current
2-3 weeks to prevent an unwarranted negative feedback. As is the system turns
good sellers into captive sellers, needing a NPB to save them from nightmare
feedback, but at the extremely high cost of wasted time and tying up their items
for weeks. No buyer needs 7, 14 or 21 days to pay and should not be granted
an ability to push payment back this far.
The current system for cancellations and NPB simply needs reformed. Buyers need
to be able to cancel in select situations such as a pushy seller trying to gouge
them on handling/shipping or holding the order hostage refusing to cancel, a
threat of pay or get an NPB. Sellers likewise need protection from the long
tied up inventory, or negative despite granting buyer an unwarranted cancellation.
The above should reduce 90% of all problem orders to being resolved in days,
not weeks, and all parties moving on largely unaffected. Bad sellers and buyers
will still get weeded out, and good ones will thrive.
|
Well thought-out, Jonathan.
Voted yes. Not that I expect the needle to be moved in doing so, but as a show
of support. I think most are aware of the issue's persistence here, and the
need for adjustments.
Though I've never used any of these corrective options available on both
sides of a transaction, I've seen time and time again, the frustration the
current system generates for those that do use it, especially for the selling-side.

#1a and #1b have been suggested in the past, to no effect. The best way to stop
that problem is to lock your store down, so that no order can be created without
IC. That stops the problem cold. People wanting to cancel an order rarely happens
after they have completed payment.

Yeah this x 10000
I love my new buyers, I have not had issues with them, my last NPB was a 200
+ feedback person. Before that I can't recall, because it was year ago at
least. I get many many 1 and 0 buyers and I haven't had what you are talking
about happen at all.
Turn on IC for small orders and stop dealing with this. There is no need to.
|
Glad your experience has been mostly positive. I too love new buyers, always
helping them through the learning curve here when possible. Just because you
haven't had the experience we have had (and others I have talked to recently
as well) doesn't make me dislike new buyers as your above statement would
imply. We love any customer who is not a pin to deal with...which is still 99%
of the time.
You probably don't sell the same items I do so have a very different buyer
base ordering from you. 9 of 10 newer buyers are indeed quick to pay and everything
is super. But it only takes a few orders of hot items, and large quantities
to net a largely negative experience when having to go through the NPB process.
Happy you haven't had them, but I have had 5 the last month alone.
IC BTW won't fix the issue, I actually do have it, but as always allow buyers
to opt for manual invoice as it is ALWAYS cheaper, and smart buyers know that.
And large orders are the ones we cannot do IC on and are the problem orders
99/100 times. So again, won't solve the issue. Parts buyers are generally
very prompt to pay as they have projects they NEED them for so delaying only
hurts them too. Set buyers though can easily change their minds and want something
different.
A good buyer experience like you have never leads to NPB, so the length of allowed
payment time in your case makes no difference. The sellers dealing with NPB's
are the ones who have voice to call for action here, and really, 3-days or a
week is plenty time to pay for an item ordered. I've been buying and selling
for 15-years here now (to your 4) and times were very different back then. Modern
online shopping has changes much for the better, but BL is left in the dark ages
on timeliness for payment/cancellation/NPB. We used to get about 20% of orders
paid with money orders in the day, and that took a week minimum for turnaround
times. Now it is 1 in 1000 as money order with most all being PayPal. Speed
of the process has picked up, and payment terms need to reflect the same as a
general rule.
Again, good buyers pay fast, so 3-days isn't going to hurt them. Bad
or no-show buyers are the problem, and once you have them getting inventory back
in shop is of utmost importance. Because really, I have never had a buyer pay
after NPB except once when the buyer simply had an emergency that called him
away for an extended time. By 1-week it is obvious if payment will ever be sent
or not. So why make sellers wait 7-14 more days to relist items? I do hope
the powers that be do reconsider correcting this aspect of the sales process
here. We have seen progress with IC but not enough just yet for store like ours
who cannot create a IC system fitting to all aspects of our diversified sales.

Comments from Submitter:
I found it strange that there were so few extras in the set when I noticed that one wasn't done. When I went to change the number of white 32013 (I only got 7 and the instructions agree with that) I looked to the part count to see if I was fixing it and realized there ARE extras in the set. They just aren't broken out. So I am going through the instructions now. Tedious.

These things happen...
But I still don't know what to use as the item no and item name. Even after
reading the instructions the numbering conventions go over my head
|
Stickered parts are (usually) just the part number plus "pb" plus a unique numerical
suffix.
If you go to the "Market" tab, then select "Catalog", it should drop you at a
search page. Search the part number which has the sticker and add a wildcard
character (*) to the end. When the results are returned you'll need to refine
them further: sort on "Item Number" and order "Down". This will return the newest/highest
suffix currently in use.
For your new part just submit an ID with next highest number. If that number
is rejected it means there is currently a part with that number pending approval
but not yet in the catalog. If that happens just go up another number until
the submission is accepted.
The attached image should hopefully makes things clearer--it is not an easy
process to understand at first. Ask back if you have any problems.

All the parts were checked by the owner.
What I learnt about this set:
Since September 1980, this set together with other 12v trains were introduced
in few countries: Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, and Scandinavian
countries.
They only produced this set and 7750 in 1980 and then the production stopped.
This is why I only found in the market of the Netherlands 7730 with yellow cones
without holes. Mistery resolved
TLG later decided to expand the market and started to sell 12v trains in UK,
France. Indeed, sets like 7730, 7720, were only sold in UK, France and Italy
for a short period of 6 months (September 1982-December 1982) this is why they
are so rare in these countries. It was for this reason that TLG went through
another production run in 1982 for 7730 which never happened for 7750 since they
decided to not sell it in those countries and only continued to sell (in Germany,
Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, and Scandinavian countries)few copies there
were left in warehouses. But they needed more copies of 7730 in Germany too so
this is why we have seen later productions of 7730 in Germany as well but never
needed to send more copies to the Netherlands or Belgium.
So the later productions of 7730 appeared in: UK, Italy, France, Germany, Scandinavian
countries (and Switzerland?)
In 1982, TLG still had red motors produced in 1980 and yellow cones without holes
so they were used first but they came mostly with yellow cones with holes and
red motors dated 1982.
Since I bought about 10 copies, I can confirm that the black slopes
appeared in those copies from 1982. Also the neat sold in France comes with 3040
slopes (with bottom tubes).
I still do not know the transition time for
(with bottom tubes). It is either 1981 or 1982.

The source of these changes and those here are a used copy (sold on Ebay )in
neat condition
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1168996
The set was sold few years ago. It was in very neat condition. Stickers were
not applied and sprues (except one) were still intact. The original bags were
still in the box and those of tracks were not yet opened.
Recently a buyer and collector in Asia sent me an inquiery about a 12v train.
After few messages back and forth, I asked him
"I remember a 7730 on Ebay on France about 20 months ago. It missed the instructions
and the train was built but some tracks or only the interference free track was
still in sealed bag. Maybe you bought that one?"
He answered:
"I believe the 7730 you mentioned is what I bought, the completeness of that
set is really awesome. Months after I made the purchase, the seller send me the
original instruction and sticker sheet which he founded. That set was found in
his father's closet. and only build once by online instruction before listed
on ebay. "
I even asked him if the seller charged him for shipping the instructions and
sticker sheets:
"In my memory, I did message him about fees when I received the instructions,
but never got his feedback. he left a message enjoy your train."
Since I had saved the photos of the listing, I sent him and got confirmation
that we were talking about the same copy. So I asked him about the extra parts
and he listed them as given here. I found all the extra parts used in an alternate
model except the extra 1*1 black plate.

| I have bought these two sets. Both boxes are opened but
The content of set
is certainly new. All parts are loose in the box and there is no instruciotns
or paper work.
The content of set
is new and almost all parts are in sealed bag but few parts are loose in the
box. I believe this copy was produced around the time TLG decided to put parts
in sealed bags. There were no instructions or paper work inside the box. I checked
the parts in 1050-2 and found some differences with its inventory on Bricklink.
There are few theories and what I think about them:
1) Few parts are taken out of the box: Most parts in set 1050-2 are in sealed
bag and only few parts are loose. Most these parts are big but there are fewer
smaller parts that are in general packed in bags. The boxes were full, so full
that I don't think any part was taken out or was added. In theory, it
is possible that one or two parts were taken out or in, but this is not likely
at all.
2) Some parts between the two boxes were mingled: based on the differences of
my copy 1050-2 with its current inventory and the parts that are loose in box
1045-2, this is impossible.
3) The contents of set 1050-2 is original, true and original.
I believe the content of my copy 1050-2 is original for the following reasons:
1) there are many consistency in how the differences appear. See below for more
details.
2) Some parts in the inventory of 1050-2 on BL does not match the box art but
the parts in my copy have them in colors that appear on the box art.
Here are the differences:
The following parts are entirely missing in my copy:

The quantity of the following parts are different. See the quantities in my copy:

So the quantities of wheels, wheel-holders and tires match in my copy. The color
of doors and door-frames match with those appearing on the box art.
I have no idea what the purpose of these sets were and how kids were supposed
to play with the parts if they were no instructions. Were the quantity and colors
of some parts different depending on the production run.
Please let me know if I can submit these changes (if so, as regular or alternate?)
May I do the inventory of
[p=1045-2]
? For this one, we can be more confident since most parts are in sealed bags.

I totaly agree...these are very good suggestions!
lately i have an explosion of 0 feedbackers myself
ordering/not reading store terms
never reply on messages/reminders and most of them end up in NPB status, holding
my goods ''hostage'' for 8 + 7 = 15 days.
and one of them for 21 days because he replied [demanded cheap or free shipping]
[do not know if these newbies are children without permission or adults]
since the new shipping rules about shipping goods in enveloppes in Europe,
I have to cancel a lot of orders [which I offer buyers if the order value is
less then the shipping cost ..as service]
because almost nobody reads terms or shipping cost list anymore
they just order away
so I hope bricklink will considder your ideas
especialy the 3 day payment term,
because in europe we have IBAN/bank transfer also and auto checkout is not always
an option for us

Thanks for considering,
Jonathan

* Add 1 Part 95347 Yellow Support 2 x 2 x 10 Girder Triangular Vertical - Type 4 - 3 Posts, 3 Sections
Comments from Submitter:
I just parted out 4 of these and they include the yellow pillar instead of the white one, even though in the official LEGO picture it shows with the white one. I am unsure whether to delete it or label it as a CP. The lego B&P page also shows the yellow pillar and not the white one.

The original set did contain the white pillar as can be seen in the attached
photo of the sealed set contents of one. Also, the original inventory was completed
from a sealed set. Since this set was produced over a number of years, it is
very likely that they ran out of the white pillar and substituted it with the
yellow girder.
The request to delete the white pillar will not be accepted, but the request
to add the yellow girder will be accepted. I will update the inventory manually
to show the substituion.

Randy

The three extra 4073 in red were confirmed from another sealed set almost two
years ago:

From the Inventory Sections: Regular, Extra, Counterpart, and Alternate
help page under the Additional Information About Extra Items section:
Removing or Changing Extra Items - Extra parts can vary depending on when
and where a set was manufactured, meaning that some new sets may include them
and others may not. The quantity of these extra parts can also vary. Extra parts
are typically not removed or reduced in quantity unless it can be determined
that they were originally added or increased in error.

Since the increase was not an error, this request will not be accepted.
