Thanks for reaching out. While I understand why a new site is necessary, just
the thought of how much we may lose in the process makes me depressed.
Anyway, here are my suggestions:
Fix wording on Onsite payment required 'Seller does not support shipping...'
so people can actually figure out what is going wrong.
Move Request a Quote to the beginning of the transaction, and clean up the misleading
wording on every step of the checkout process.
Clean out the 'Shared Shipping Methods' and stop giving new sellers the
impression that they can just pick one of those outdated methods and have their
shop magically charge the right price for postage.
Fix the permanent 'Completed' Order Status if a seller mistakenly sets
it.
Fix the phantom order/payment issue that's been reported. (I just had one
this week: payment but no order.)
Find a way for us to submit sales tax payments when a buyer can't or won't
use the Onsite payments.
Requested Quotes should trigger the same yellow number notification icon that
messages do so we don't miss them.
Only make site changes during BrickLink office work hours to reduce overnight
and weekend downtime that adversely affects European sellers.
Respond more to issues in the Forum or create a place where members can track
known issues.
Yep! There's more but you only have so much time I would guess.
Thanks,
Jen

Do not change your address!
If you do change your address, your store will get closed and you have to go
through the process of becoming seller again. That may take few weeks.
You can open another account, just for purpose of buying. Then you can change
that address.

I am fairly sure this is against TOS.

I don't recommend buying from Germany this way. Shipping charges from Germany
are, for most German stores, very affordable. Some only charges 9 Euro to ship
worldwide, while they charge maybe 4 euro to ship within Germany. On top of that,
they charge VAT for orders that remain in Germany.
I would just directly order from Germany to your address in the USA.

My advice on patterned parts is to show them at less of an angle than this. It's
good to show a bit of the side so we can see what part this is, but the pattern
side should take up the majority of the image. This makes it much easier to identify
when scanning through the thumbnail images.

Take a look at the dimensions of the manuals.
Most have the dimensions of the original set box and those are way larger then
the instructions
|
Yes, it's unfortunate that they were all originally entered with the wrong
measurements. In hindsight, it would have been better to leave the missing measurements
blank so sellers would have more incentive to submit the correct data.
Sellers, if you see instruction packing dimensions with a height of 1 cm, it's
a clue that these were the default data. Please submit the corrections by using
the Add or Change tab, Change Item: Set which is where the instructions
dimensions are hiding.

Yes, you can cancel the order if you think the shipping is too high:

You can request to cancel if the shipping was higher than described in the seller's

Manual invoicing was the standard here until fairly recently. It is very normal
on this site for a seller to have to check your order and then add the appropriate
shipping charges.
You are still obligated to make your purchase as you agreed to at checkout unless
the seller did not explain the charges in their terms.
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=79
So, check the terms, do your homework as to what shipping costs generally run,
use the Request a Quote feature if you still aren't sure.
You can still make a polite request to the seller to cancel after an order is
placed. Some sellers will and some won't. Many sellers here are wary of cancelling
an order because then a buyer may leave them unwarranted negative feedback. It's
a bit of a problem we've had here for too long.

That usually only happens if the buyer didn’t pay onsite. If the buyer hasn’t
paid onsite then you have to manually change the status to paid but onsite payment
is required if bricklink has to collect tax so if there is tax on the order and
it wasn’t paid onsite it might be best to cancel the order. The simplest workaround
tho (there are several) is simply mark it as packed then mark it as shipped
|
I believe we recently closed that loophole. Orders that aren't taxed properly
are a real problem for us.
|
Since we, as sellers, can't control buyer behavior, and refunding payments
like this costs us money and hassle and possibly a lost sale, there should be
a way we can manually submit the tax payment to BrickLink.
I know, very complicated... but an obvious solution.

If an order came through Instant Checkout and was paid, you should have packed

Not all buyers see or respond to messages from BrickLink. If you really need

A refund does not cancel the order. You have to go through that process separately.
A buyer placed and paid for an order in your shop. There is no reason at all

It simply means that the stores do not have an Onsite payment method that allows
BrickLink to collect the necessary sales taxes. Sales taxes were implemented
a long time ago, and if these stores aren't messaging back, it's likely
that they just aren't active stores. You can tell them about the Onsite issue,
or more effectively, shop at stores with more and active feedback.

There will be additional information on the Order Detail page and BL will also

* Change 8 Part {Green to Bright Green} 44728 Bracket 1 x 2 - 2 x 2
* Change 4 Part {Dark Green to Bright Green} 3001 Brick 2 x 4
* Change 2 Part {Green to Bright Green} 2456 Brick 2 x 6
Comments from Submitter:
The green 44728 brackets, 3001 2x4 and 2456 2x6 bricks of the tree are actually bright green, matching the 3031 and 87580; Likewise, the 4 'dark green' 2x4 bricks are actually just 'green'
|
Bizarre-- Reviewing the manual and instructions, it 'appears' the
tree is bright green matching everything else. But reviewing the item codes in
the inventory 4106356 4181135, and some youtube review videos, they seem to be
regular green. Retracting my change request.

The part renders used in instruction books and the photos used for box art and
promotional images are not very reliable sources.

| Ah, sorry I meant size in pixels. Most things here have a limit. Looks like this

| BrickLink can be pretty confusing for new buyers or non-English speakers. Many
don't realize that they haven't checked out and paid once they
press the Place Order button.
BrickLink messages sometimes end up in junk or spam folders.
NPB's are just a normal part of the manual invoice system. People can't
figure out the system, don't care to figure out the system, or develop buyer's
remorse and are not finding a good way out of a transaction. The nice price they
thought they were getting at checkout now looks not-so-nice with shipping and
taxes applied.
Be patient, explain when you can, cancel if you aren't worried about negative
feedback, file an NPB if you are. Oh, and set up Instant Checkout for your First
Class mail at least. It'll save you the majority of these hassles.
Good luck,
Jen
In Problem Order, MecaOne writes:
| Hello, I'm a fairly new seller and I've never posted to the forum before.
I've had to cancel two orders before for buyers not paying after several
weeks. Recently I had a buyer who made an order and then afterwards sent a message
asking for a shipping quote (they did not use the request a quote feature). I
was happy to return a message with the shipping price which was only a few dollars
so I figured it wouldn't be an issue and once they gave the okay I'd
send the invoice.
The buyer read the message almost immediately, but no response for several days,
until today when they sent a request to cancel the order with the reason of "mutual
agreement". I sent a follow-up message asking for clarification which was
again almost immediately read but no reply.
I will probably end up agreeing to the cancellation, it isn't a big deal
as it was a relatively small order to begin with, but it's definitely a frustrating
and somewhat confusing situation and I was wondering if any more experienced
sellers had any advice or similar scenarios they'd encountered.
Thanks!

| I agree with you that your seller is way out of line.
I would just mention that, human nature being what it is, you should always expect
a defensive or negative reply when you tell anyone: 'You should...!"
Good luck,

In Buying, Nicolasamico37 writes:
| Hi,
I placed an order yesterday on a French store.
The seller wrote to me to tell me that he is in Portugal until the end of March
and that he will therefore not be able to take care of the order before. He therefore
proposes to me either to cancel it, or to keep it despite the wait.
I tell him that I would have preferred to know before placing my order but that
nevertheless I will keep it since I need a few pieces. I also advised him to
indicate it on his shop.
Here is my message:
"Hello,
Indeed, I would have preferred to know before ordering. You should put it big
on your homepage!
I will keep my order since I need some parts.
Nicholas"
I don't think I was rude, I advised him to make an announcement about his
absence to avoid possible problems with buyers.
Here is his response:
"Good evening, the fact of having ordered does not oblige me to be at your
disposal...
Also, the exclamation mark on your answer, I don't like either.
Sorry, I'm away because my father is sick, I have to be there for him.
Frankly, no one who has purchased from my store has ever sent me a response like
yours."
I find his answer quite rude.
On the one hand, concerning his family, I cannot know. I do not blame him.
On the other hand, I advised him to at least indicate his absence on his shop
and he took the exclamation point at the end of my sentence very badly...
Then, as a seller, even if indeed he is not at my disposal, if he cannot manage
his shop during his absence, therefore if he is not currently able to satisfy
the needs of his "customers", he shouldn't keep it open.
I don't really know what to do...

Just another FYI, the feedback you are leaving is out of the norm. It's fine
to compliment a buyer for a fast payment, but detailing the exact time is well...
a bit creepy.

Slope with sticker 9 from Set 70922

Hello. I haven't tried to add any parts to the catalog yet and am trying
to part out a used 70922. So I go to those/that link(s) and follow the instructions
to add all the stickered pieces?

Yes, it's a bit complicated the first time through. There are a few more
hints here:

I am also happy to help and answer any questions you might have about the process.

Are the centers interchangeable with the housings? It doesn't look like it
from the image, but I need to make sure.

77258 will not fit into 18588. 18587 would fit into 77257 but I don't want
to try it because these pins never come loose.

Please submit new entries for both of the parts.

Thanks!

If the seller can deliver the sold quantity at the agreed price, no matter when
or where the seller stocks up, I can't really see any problem.

That's nice, but the terms for selling on BrickLink require you to have any
listed stock on hand.

No, but you can see that you sold a part in a particular color within the last
6 months in the Price Guide. It's indicated by the gold squares. The gold
square is a link to the order. (Refresh your screen if the squares and flags
don't appear at first.)

| Hi
I just had a new buyer say that the 3651 parts I sent are not original lego,
I believe its becausethey don't have the 'lego' logo on the side
studs. I checked the rest of my stock which have come from several sets I bought
and they are exactly the same and match the stock calatog images on BrickLink
(i.e. the side studs are smooth).
Can anyone please let me know if this item is normally smooth or if perhaps there
are 2 versions (some with the Lego logo on the side studs).
Thanks
Regards
Steve

Perhaps point out to them the ridiculously good large image we have of this part
which clearly shows no logo on the sides.
