I am looking for a brick inventory list for the 1962 Lego Samsonite set 704-3.
I know it should contain 165 pieces, but that is all I know. I looked everywhere....
Can anyone help?

  Please make changes to the following inventory:

Minifig No: twn378 Name: Male with Blue Jacket over Dark Red V-Neck Sweater and Reddish Brown Legs
*
twn378 (Inv) Male with Blue Jacket over Dark Red V-Neck Sweater and Reddish Brown Legs
Minifigures: Town

* Change 1 Part Yellow {3626cpb1314 Minifigure, Head Dual Sided Eyebrows, Crow's Feet, Open Mouth Smile / Queasy Expression with Sweat Drop Pattern - Hollow Stud (Undetermined Version) to 3626cpb2492 Minifigure, Head Dual Sided Eyebrows, Crow's Feet, Open Mouth Smile / Queasy Expression with Sweat Drop Pattern - Hollow Stud}

Comments from Submitter:
Photo of this minifig in our catalog clearly shows variant of this head with smaller smile than current 3626cpb1314.
Also it is visible in this review of the set from this minfig is https://youtu.be/6L_NXsksLu0?t=66

So you are just going around shrinking everyone's smiles?

Only one left with old big smile

Minifig No: twn203 Name: Queasy Man
*
twn203 (Inv) Queasy Man
Minifigures: Town

nobody noticed that all others are not so happy
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=3626cpb2492&in=M
and it was whole time visible on catalog photos of minifigs, just never was compared
(since 2017).

10022-1 (Inv) Santa Fe Cars - Set II (dining, observation, or sleeping car)
408 Parts, 2002
Sets: Train: 9V: My Own Creation

* Add 1 Part 6584a Dark Bluish Gray Train Base 6 x 24 with 3 Round Holes Each End

Comments from Submitter:
Basic plate 1st step

The build of this set requires a 6 x 28 train base which is already included
in the inventory:

Part No: 4093a Name: Train Base 6 x 28 with 3 Round Holes Each End and 1 x 2 Cutouts
*
4093a Train Base 6 x 28 with 3 Round Holes Each End and 1 x 2 Cutouts
Parts: Train {Dark Gray}

This is also proven by the instructions and multiple images of sealed set contents
that I found.

This request will not be accepted.

Cheers,
Randy

Baseplate in 1st step

Same as the other. I don’t think it would be in ‘dark bluish gray’ as this set
is from 2002. I believe they introduced the ‘bluish gray’ colors in 2004 and
after. It should just be the old dark gray color.

  If one of you wants to verify, I am posting a picture of my notes. I recommend taking your pain reliever of choice before you begin so that it will be kicking in at the time you'll need it.

Don't really need a pain reliever when the LEGO replacement parts site helps
with plenty of these changes.

  - The set has 9 10axles. You need 8 to build one model, but 9 for the other.

The LEGO replacement parts site has 9 included in the set. Request accepted.

  - The set has 9 3L Connectors and you need all 9 for either model.

The LEGO replacement parts site has 9 included in the set. Request accepted.

  - You need 31 of 43 technic pins, depending on what you want to build. The set has 46, so 3 are extra.

The LEGO replacement parts site has 43 included in the set. Request accepted.

  - My 7L Ribbed Hoses are EIGHT L.

Yours actually look closer to 7L in your image, but the LEGO replacement parts
site states they should be 64mm (which is 8L). Request accepted.

  - My 11L Soft Axles are TWELVE L.

Yours very much look 12L in your image, and the LEGO replacement parts site confirms
this. Request accepted.

  - You need 13 or 14 2Axle and the set has 21, so I call that 14 regular, 7 extra.

The LEGO replacement parts site has 21 included in the set. These requests will
not be accepted and the quantity for this part in the Regular Items section will
be adjusted to 21.

  - You need 5 3/4 pins and you get 6.

The LEGO replacement parts site has 5 included in the set. Request accepted.

  - The gray bush you need 11 or 14 and you get 19.

The LEGO replacement parts site has 15 included in the set. The request to change
the quantity of this part in the Regular Items section will not be accepted.
The request to add extras will be accepted, but the number of extras will be
adjusted down to 4 (one for each sealed bag in the set?).

  - The gray half bush you need 10 or 11 and you get 17.

The LEGO replacement parts site has 13 included in the set. The request to change
the quantity of this part in the Regular Items section will not be accepted.
The request to add extras will be accepted, but the number of extras will be
adjusted down to 4 (one for each sealed bag in the set?).

Since there is not data available on the other requests here, I will need to
take a little more time to go through those with any other information that I
can find.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On a personal level, thanks once again for going through another rare inventory!

By the way, since you go through a lot of older sealed sets, you should document
the whole unboxing process for them. That kind of information is not easy to
find for a lot of the sets. Let me know if you would like me to send you example
images of how I do it for older sets that I go through.

Cheers,
Randy

Comments from Submitter:
After checking the box it seems above mentioned minifigs (47394pb013 and 47394pb004) are the ones depicted on the box. So, I assume these should be mentioned as the "regular" minifigs. Unless there are also different versions of the box. They are quite similar to the ones inventoried in the set right now, but not the same.

Comments from Submitter:
I looked through the instructions until they gave me a headache. It's a choose your own adventure set. Depending on what you want to build, you use different parts. There are 2 main builds and a third mini build and I will ignore the 3rd because you can't build it if you build either of the others and it requires less of everything that matters here.

- The rubber bands are definitely extras.
- The set has 9 10axles. You need 8 to build one model, but 9 for the other.
- The set has 9 3L Connectors and you need all 9 for either model.
- You need 31 of 43 technic pins, depending on what you want to build. The set has 46, so 3 are extra.
- You need 2 or 4 blue bush and the set has 6.
- My 7L Ribbed Hoses are EIGHT L.
- My 11L Soft Axles are TWELVE L.
- You need 13 or 14 2Axle and the set has 21, so I call that 14 regular, 7 extra.
- You need 5 3/4 pins and you get 6.
- The gray bush you need 11 or 14 and you get 19.
- The gray half bush you need 10 or 11 and you get 17.

If one of you wants to verify, I am posting a picture of my notes. I recommend taking your pain reliever of choice before you begin so that it will be kicking in at the time you'll need it.

If I am right, then someone may perhaps see that the inventory is corrected!

Hi niklasgustaf,

you need to submit an inventory set request. See the bottom of the inventory
of 148. You also need to click on "Show Inv Item IDs" and find-out the Inv. Item
IDs for the existing parts in the inventory of 148 you want to remove/change:
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=148-1

But this inventory will be rejected. If you click on "log of completed changes",
you can see all the changes made in the part on this set.
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogInvChangeItem.asp?itemType=S&itemNo=148-1&viewDate=Y&viewStatus=1

First see this change in 2017
https://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=213058

Then this from me which is recent:

Hello,

Has anyone put together 75255 Yoda and able to tell me how many tan 1x1 plates
you have left over? I feel like I am the person putting together a gas grill
with too many leftover parts..... . Thank you,

Jared

Set No: 1496 Name: Rally Car

48 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 1987
Sets: Town: Classic Town: Race

* Add 1 Part 193b2 Black Minifigure, Headgear Helmet Old with Thick Chin Strap - with Visor Dimples (Counterpart)

Comments from Submitter:
I am wondering or the black 193au (193a1 and 193a2) are the right one. Pictures
on the web are not conclusive. Black helmet 193a1 does not excist and black helmet
193a2 is from 1978 till 1986, as set 1496 is from 1987.

Maybe black 193au is not right. Maybe it is 193bu (193b1 and 193b2). It can not be 193b1, because this helmet is from 1984. So maybe it is the black 193b2? It fits the timeline (1978-1987) with the set 1496 from 1987.

Did you personally open one of these Wii U sets and find the alternate poster?

The same question goes for the PS4 requests.

Thanks,

Yes, that's why I only added the alternate to these 2 sets, I found both
posters on both versions.

I have a source where occasionally I have just a giant tub of bags (no boxes
no instructions). The price per pound is only worth it if they are decent so
I want to hunt out the good ones.

The best I have come up with identifying a set by looking at some unique parts.
Then on brothersbrick.com find their review. They usually will lay out all
the bags and take a photo. I can usually identify what I have pretty easily.

I scored the last time and spent $70 and got $890 worth of parted out pieces.
This is not normal but it just worked out. On the other hand, I have just grabbed
$50 by weight and parted them out for $75.

When you have a full set it is much easier to part out than one bag of an unidentified
set. Plus multiple bags will usually lead to higher lot counts.

The procedure to add a stickered Counterpart to BrickLink and a set inventory
is as follows:

(1) Add the stickered part to the BrickLink catalog:
https://www.bricklink.com/wantedCatalog.asp?catType=P

Help on adding an item to the BrickLink catalog:
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=71

(2) Add an image to the BrickLink catalog for the stickered part:
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogImageAdd.page?itemType=P

Help on adding an image to the BrickLink catalog:
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=87

(3) Fill out an Inventory Change Request to add the stickered part to the set
inventory after it is approved by the Catalog Associate.

----------

The following thread may also be of help:
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1085264

----------

This request will be rejected.

Cheers,
Randy

My apologies for not following correct protocol. My inexperience is on full
display here. Thank you for providing a detailed explanation of the correct
process, which I will begin.

Sets: Harry Potter: Goblet of Fire

* Delete 1 Part 87994 White Bar 3L (Bar Arrow) (Extra)

Comments from Submitter:
Part-out of 10 sets. None had these extra parts.

Extras aren't going to get deleted under normal circumstances. I parted
out two of them yesterday and I DID get the 3L bar arrow. But I am very curious.
Did you get the extra white jumper? I did not and it is an unusual extra.

Oh I am sorry I made a mistake when submitting the change request. The extra
parts which were missing are the bar 4L and the white jumper, but not the bar
3L!

When filling in the the request form I created entries for the jumper and the
bar 3L and then I replaced the entry for the jumper with the bar 4L instead of
replacing the entry for the bar 3L with the bar 4L...

Thanks for the information. I have decided that I am going to remove the extra
4L bar and the extra jumper. We have two different people from two sides of the
pond saying that these extras are not there. Add to that the fact that these
extras were not questioned initially when the inventory was approved and that
the original submitter of the inventory can no longer prove the extras. If someone
finds these later, we can always add them back, but these are definitely strange
extras in the modern era.

Cheers,
Randy

Trying to determine what pieces are missing from the set is quite a challenge!

Look in the instructions. When you come to a page for which you don't have
the bag, then you know which bag is missing. The following pages will be the
parts you are missing.

Unfortunately, the instructions for that set do not do that.

It would be nice not only to have a "new" and "used" condition but also a "damaged"
for parts. E.g. the 2490px2 often has broken clips and is still sold. But searching
for intact parts is a bit time consuming.

I didn't find out if someone else already asked for this feature.

Comments from Submitter:
I just finished parting this set out and I had these extras.

There is an inventory note on the set that states "There are significant variances
in part counts reported for this set. The current inventory needs corrections
to account for the differences."

I think this set needs a bit more looking into before we just add these extras.
These are the kinds of parts that look like something in a redesign.

Cheers,
Randy

You will have the books soon enough. But the way that it looks from my side
is that a lot of them are caused by the set having doubles of part bags. A lot
of the small to medium parts comes in bags that there are two of and I think
it was just easier for Lego to do that and let a few extras move through. I
compared against the parts list in the back of Book 3, but I didn't step
by step through the instructions.

  I'm not sure how many folks would be interested in that information, but
in the last year I've probably had questions on the contents for close to
10 different sets.

What are you doing with the sets? If you are parting them out, then it is not
really needed. If you are building them, again it is not needed. I can only see
it will be useful if you want to sell the set as a new but opened set although
then you will either have to try to buy a complete sealed bag or buy the new
parts that were in that bag. For the latter case, one bag will still be open
so the value of that set is not really going to be any different to a set in
which all the bags were opened to check the inventory.

It seems a lot of work to do this for every set for under 10 sets per year, when
there are other ways of selling / using those sets.

It also doesn't fit in with the idea that the base inventories for new sets
could be extracted from LEGO's main server, with extras added when inventories
are checked (which I think was planned at some stage) as LEGO doesn't give
this information by bag.

Look in the instructions. When you come to a page for which you don't have

like today no boxes), but sealed bags of parts. Today I scored 14/17 numbered
backs for set 10237 Tower of Orthanc. I almost missed out on getting the second
bag #3 because it didn't obviously go with the other bags. Thankfully I
was able to find an old unboxing video on YouTube and figured out I'm missing
3 numbered bags (#1, #4, and one of the two #5s), plus the unnumbered eagle bag.
But usually when I'm in this situation, I haven't been so lucky. It's
especially tricky with sets that have unnumbered bags. I usually end up opening
them to do the inventory if I'm uncertain, but it would be nice to keep them
sealed and be able to know what was missing.

I'd be willing to provide the list for any new sets I open, if it might help
someone else out down the line. It seems like a fairly easy thing and I'm
surprised that, at least as far as I'm aware, there isn't somewhere to
find this information easily (at least for modern sets). Bricklink seems like
a natural place for this information to exist.

I'm not sure how many folks would be interested in that information, but

I would "love" a function like this. I buy a lot of older collectible sets many
times with unopened bags. Figuring out what is in specific "bags" (numbered or
un-numbered) let alone figuring out what pieces are missing knowing that a specific
numbered bag is missing presents a real challenge!

in the last year I've probably had questions on the contents for close to
10 different sets.

Anyway, I'm not even sure if this is the appropriate place to mention it,
but I thought I'd give it a shot.

I would "love" a function like this. I buy a lot of older collectible sets many
times with unopened bags. Figuring out what is in specific "bags" (numbered or
un-numbered) let alone figuring out what pieces are missing knowing that a specific
numbered bag is missing presents a real challenge!

* Add 1 Part 6538c Light Bluish Gray Technic, Axle Connector 2L (Smooth with x Hole + Orientation) (Extra)

Cheers,
Randy

Here below I attach the photos of a MISB set: you can clearly recognize the white
brick 3001 with cross supports; the red brick 3001 with cross supports is a bit
more hardly recognizable, but it is there.

Please make changes to the following inventory:

Set No: 5072  Name: Wagonplate, 6 x 28 Studs
*
5072-1 (Inv) Wagonplate, 6 x 28 Studs
1 Part, 1987
Sets: Service Packs: Train

* Change 1 Part Black 4093b Train Base 6 x 28 with 10 Round Holes Each End {match ID 0 to 1}

Comments from Submitter:
The train baseplate 4093c (6 round holes) was included in the later releases of this Service Pack in place of the baseplate 4093b (10 round holes). I'm going to add a photo of a MISB bag that can confirm this fact.

  I was wondering if there'd be a possibility of adding box contents to LEGO
sets on here. Something like listing the number of each bag, unmarked bags/unbagged
parts, etc.

I deal with a lot of secondhand sets and come across sets with open boxes (or
like today no boxes), but sealed bags of parts.

I'm not sure how many folks would be interested in that information, but
in the last year I've probably had questions on the contents for close to
10 different sets.

Anyway, I'm not even sure if this is the appropriate place to mention it,
but I thought I'd give it a shot.

I see why you need it, but I wouldn't count on this happening. Changing from
set inventories to bag inventories would mean multiplying the entire inventory
database by, what, a factor 5? Moreover, all set inventories will need to be
compiled manually without the help of the inventory list in instructions or on
boxes. It would be a heck of a lot of continuous work (are you going to do it?),
and per set it will only ever be consulted a handful of times (if ever).

You're not the only one who ran into this, and I'm not saying it's
necessarily a bad idea, but my advice would be.. I wouldn't wait for this

Besides, I think you can figure out what you're missing from the instructions?
As far as I know most sets are built a bag at a time, so if you follow through
the episode for the bags you're missing you should be able to get yourself
a list of parts you're missing. Haven't done this but could work?

If you're new to this, then I would not suggest parting out sets like that.
I did that when I first started, and it was a bad mistake because there were
so many variations I didn't know even existed. Such as the brackets and panels
with and without rounded corners. Or the three kinds of jumper plates. Or antennas
with rounded or flat tops. If you part out sets using the "part out" function
on bricklink, I would still take a very close look at what you're listing.

Just a friendly suggestion so you don't make the same mistake I did.

It looks like it's requested a lot and indeed would be very useful for people
completing sets. But it would require a lot of work from the community to painstakingly
create such information for every set. It would also need additional funcionality
from the site so I don't see it happening in this millenium.

wrong color

Wow! You are correct. I can't believe this minifigure has, in fact, been
wrong in the catalog for all of these years! The instructions for both sets it
appears in clearly show

Part No: 4073  Name: Plate, Round 1 x 1
*
4073 Plate, Round 1 x 1
Parts: Plate, Round {Trans-Neon Green}
instead of

Part No: 4073  Name: Plate, Round 1 x 1
*
4073 Plate, Round 1 x 1
Parts: Plate, Round {Trans-Yellow}
and evidence that I found from sealed sets also clearly show this.

Since this minifigure has been in the catalog so long, I do not think the proper
course of action is to change its inventory. What should be done is the correct
minifigure be added to the catalog as "sp010a", the incorrect minifigure in the
inventories of the two sets be switched out for the correct minifigure, and the
incorrect minifigure marked for deletion.

Cheers,
Randy

Hi, I am aware of the statement about early figures.
But seems to me and I tried to verify it heavily that ALL figures before 1992
have version "A" of a head, after 1992 all have "B" (and sometimes rarely "C
later).
Seems to me that:
All Classic Space has "A" head (not the Lego Movie reeditions).
All Futurons have "A" head.
All Space Police (Futuron-like first generation) has "A" head.
All Blacktron1 have "A" head.
All M:Tron have "A" head.
BlacktronsII. with airtanks ARE mixed "A" and "B". Other BlacktronII with jetpack
seem to have "A" in all appearances.

Comments from Submitter:
All sp016 were produced before 1992 therefore all have the older head.

This is currently project #6 under the "Projects Under Consideration" section
of the Catalog Roadmap: https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2476

At this time, no changes will be made to these inventories until the official
project is started.

Tha Catalog should be used as guide.
Always verify the parts when uploading stock.

I'm not sure how many folks would be interested in that information, but
in the last year I've probably had questions on the contents for close to
10 different sets.

Anyway, I'm not even sure if this is the appropriate place to mention it,
but I thought I'd give it a shot.

  Please make changes to the following inventory:

Minifig No: sp010 Name: Explorien Droid
*
sp010 Explorien Droid
Minifigures: Space: Exploriens
Marked for Deletion

* Delete 1 Part 4073 Trans-Yellow Plate, Round 1 x 1
* Add 1 Part 4073 Trans-Neon Green Plate, Round 1 x 1

Comments from Submitter:
wrong color

Wow! You are correct. I can't believe this minifigure has, in fact, been
wrong in the catalog for all of these years! The instructions for both sets it
appears in clearly show

Part No: 4073  Name: Plate, Round 1 x 1
*
4073 Plate, Round 1 x 1
Parts: Plate, Round {Trans-Neon Green}
instead of

Part No: 4073  Name: Plate, Round 1 x 1
*
4073 Plate, Round 1 x 1
Parts: Plate, Round {Trans-Yellow}
and evidence that I found from sealed sets also clearly show this.

Cheers,
Randy

The correct minifigure has been added to the catalog as

Minifig No: sp010a Name: Exploriens Droid - Trans-Neon Green Light
*
sp010a (Inv) Exploriens Droid - Trans-Neon Green Light
Minifigures: Space: Exploriens
and has been substituted for the incorrect minifigure in the two set inventories.

This request will not be accepted as the incorrect minifigure will just be marked
for deletion from the catalog.

Cheers,
Randy

Set No: 6370 Name: Weekend Home
*
6370-1 (Inv) Weekend Home
167 Parts, 2 Minifigures, 1985
Sets: Town: Classic Town: Building

* Delete 2 Part 4073 Trans-Yellow Plate, Round 1 x 1
* Delete 1 Part 4073 Trans-Yellow Plate, Round 1 x 1 (Extra)
* Add 1 Part 4073c01 Trans-Yellow Plate, Round 1 x 1, 2 on Sprue

The owner of this set confirmed that his set comes with only one sprue but we
can see on one of the alternate models three 1*1 round bricks. See photos attached.

Interestingly, in the main model photo on the front of the box it appears only
one plate is used - the one on the bicycle seems to be missing.

It almost looks like one of those two 1x1 plates on the light is a trans-clear
instead of trans-yellow. It's too hard to tell though.
