NO tricks Just Bricks!

Did you put al of you shipping methods in the same group?
Only the cheapest option of a group is shown.

Select group ‘none’ and al the options meeting dimension and weight requirements
should show.

We prefer to use paypal but it isn't working for the onsite payment the EU
customer says when they push the button that error comes up. So after several
attempts he just sent payment to our paypal, when we contacted BL to get this
set to paid and find out how the VAT that was deducted is handled they didn't
address the issue that we tried for a week adjusting settings. So currently we
have a EU order that we cant mark paid, we can't mark shipped sitting in
our order list. They said to refund the customer but now they still can't
pay onsite. Paypal says all is okay on their end.

Ah, then that would be the major problem: you aren’t allowed to be paid offsite
when BL has to collect taxes (be it because you asked the buyer or because the
buyer took it upon themselves to pay that way).

You aren’t registered with the EU to collect EU VAT.  BL is the one that’s registered
and that has to collect the VAT, not you.

When you do that, you’re committing tax fraud: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1401495

The only way is to refund and go through Onsite.

That being said, it seems the Help Desk just focused on that first part (offsite
payment) and didn’t look into why there’s an error when the buyer tries to pay.

I’d try contacting them again _but only for that problem_.  Don’t talk about
offsite or finding another way to pay or making an exception focus on the error
message. Otherwise they may again be stuck on it.

Also, maybe there’s still a problem with PayPal: I think some have reported problems
here when a buyer was trying to use some PayPal options, like “PayPal credit”
or something like that (sorry, I’m not a PayPal specialist).

  Hi,

We are in South Africa and decided to open up to EU. We are having an issue with
EU customers paying onsite. They keep getting an error. We accepted Euro as payment,
our Paypal has been linked for two years.

Hi,

From what I can see in your terms, it seems to be properly set (I don’t think
there’s anything else to do than have Onsite and associate it to a shipping method).

We contacted BL customer service which they admonished us for trying to avoid
fees which we are absolutely not doing we appreciate the service BL provides
and have no problem paying our dues. What we needed was help, so our EU customers
could pay onsite, because of VAT being deducted for orders under 150 Euros. We
still have no assistance and no solution.

Maybe there was a misunderstanding… or are you asking your buyers to pay offsite?

Did you give Help Desk the error message & reference number?

Have you tried contacting PayPal?  (I guess they’ll say it’s BL’s problem… but
well, maybe not.)

Anyone familiar with settings as we have Euro enabled in PayPal and in Bricklink
and our current customers are unable to pay so we have had to close international
as an option.

Looks open to me.

  Regards Angelina

I just broke a piece off of a dark green 2x16 plate the other day when cleaning
and rebuilding my Sopwith Camel. Not fun since that's the only set with that
piece... Thankfully it was still usable and I was able to put it in a spot where
you can't see the damage.

Hi,

Unfortunately, you can’t substract, merge, or intersect Wanted Lists on BrickLink.

You’ll need to use third-party tools, like BrickStore (application) or Rebrickable
(website).

That'll be why I can't work it out. Thanks for letting me know.

I've had a ton of Dark Red and Reddish Brown parts break in my early Winter

indoors. I expect my LotR will behave the same way if I ever risk building them
again.

This happens sometimes when a seller has set up a shipping method that doesn't
show the estimated cost to the buyer cart, in this case the seller is probably
using a 10.000 USD value as a default that manually changes when invoicing after
placing the order.

(10,000 + 32.06) x 0,21 (VAT %) = 2106,73

Dark red breaks very very often. I had found a

when taken apart, 25% of the dark red pieces ended up either breaking or at least
cracking. Brown is even worse.

I lost numerous dark red parts taking this ship apart too. :'

In fact, I've lost more dark red parts than reddish brown (although there've
been a fair few of those too).

Earlier this year, I purchased a custom LEGO set from Heart Bricker's Ebay
store that used reddish brown pieces to create a custom car based on a 1969 Ford
Mustang. Included in the set was a bag with some extra 1x4 reddish brown tiles,
and it had a note on the bag that basically stated that these particular pieces
were notorious for being brittle, and the parts in the bag were extras just in
case they were needed. Well... they certainly WERE needed, as three of the 1x4
reddish brown tiles in the main set literally snapped in two while I was building
the car! It's a good thing those extra 1x4 tiles were included, or I would
have had to get on BrickLink and order replacements... and THOSE potentially
could have snapped apart too!

Depending on the era, and what type of climate/conditions/storage it was subjected
to, Dark Red can be extremely brittle! I have broken a large amount of Dark
Red and Reddish Brown parts during disassembly using a brick separator. Once
I have a suspect batch, I start grabbing the parts and give them a slight bend-
and they snap like crackers in my hands. Then into the circular file (trash)
they go.

I have had 1x8 tiles, 4x6 plates, 2x8 plates, the curved slope 2 x 1 x 1 1/3
with Recessed Stud, to name a few, break even when being super careful in taking
them apart all in dark red, there was a few years when dark red as well as reddish
brown were very brittle.

That headline is very uncool ... and quite political to boot

Either it's a (BL?) glitch or a seller manipulating

It's _NOT_ the "government" (whatever that might be) robbing you

Hi,

Unfortunately, you can’t substract, merge, or intersect Wanted Lists on BrickLink.

You’ll need to use third-party tools, like BrickStore (application) or Rebrickable
(website).

You may be asking for deeper information than this, but I would say they developed
a set and then decided not to release it, so a number got assigned and they don't
want to complicate their stuff, so they didn't reassign the number.

Hi,

What are you calling “the lot number”?  The quantity?  Which one, in the store
or in your WL?

Could you be a bit more precise on what you do?  (Give an example.  Are you using
auto-fill feature?)

This’s exactly how I do my laundry: I put all my clothes in a hermetic bag before

But I don’t get why people grimace when I’m upwind to them

IOW: if the peroxide is not in contact with the plastic, how can they react together?

My experience on (older) discolored items...

Although peroxide works on discolored white parts, it does not (properly) work
on discolored blue or grey parts.

However putting the items behind glass (e.g. HR+, HR++) in sunlight does work
on discolored white, blue and grey items. Maybe not all, maybe not perfectly
but I have had good results over the past years. Other colors I don't know.

Discoloring however may return after some time.

LOL. By the way, to reply your answer: I just thouth that maybe it's
not about the contact, but about the way the rays hit the plastic after passing
through the hydrogen peroxide!

Er, no that’s not how it works.

Last I looked, it would be the “bleaching”/“whitening” effect of the peroxide:
it transforms some molecules so they don’t absorb/reflect the light the same
way, thus changing (back) the apparent colour.

But that doesn’t repair the degraded plastic: it degrades the molecules that
were created by the degradation of the plastic (and may help degrade the plastic
further too).

yellowing:
    ABS + (light and/or heat + oxygen) → degraded-ABS + yellow-stuff

whitening:
    degraded-ABS + yellow-stuff + UVs + oxygen → degraded-ABS + whitened-yellow-stuff

Whatever you choose to do:
1. Avoid direct sunlight: it has UVc that are very bad for the plastic (and you).
(Put everything behing some glass.)
2. Tell your buyers.

Thanks for your detailed explanation, and for your time. My buyers are fully
briefed, that's my primary mission! and I needed this informations for my
personal development, not for my inventory.

Have a nice evening!

The correct URL is either
https://www.bricklink.com/orderExcel.asp?orderType=placed (you’re the buyer)
or
https://www.bricklink.com/orderExcel.asp?orderType=received (you’re the seller)
otherwise the page returns a server error (which is not the error you’re having,
so something else is wrong here).

(And would you mind not cancelling/reposting your messages before anyone has
time to answer? )

Thansk to all

I’m not sure I 100% understand your question, so forgive me if this reply doesn’t
answer it. Hydrogen Peroxide does not need a “catalyst” to to whiten, but UV
rays seem to help it with the oxidation process. Hydrogen peroxide is the main
active ingredient in most teeth whitening products, and they do not require UV
rays. As far as whitening LEGO, putting white parts in a clear container in direct
sunlight for at least 6 hours definitely helps remove discoloration. This happens
bc it targets electrons and sort of breaks down the atoms that cause staining.
I have no evidence that this harms the parts, but I would not use this process
on bricks I would sell because it seems like anything that causes molecules to
fall apart can’t be good for the integrity of LEGO. Again, I have no evidence,
and humans use it on their these without damaging the enamel, so maybe do a google
search.
As far as using that method on a part with a sticker, I definitely would not
try that, even with plastic wrap over the sticker (not sure how that would even
work). Hydrogen peroxide can and will get under the edges of stickers and loosen
them - you know how you pour it on a little paper cut and it starts to bubble?
That, but under a sticker. If you’re hell bent on it, don’t try to just cover
the sticker with plastic wrap.

The info is at the bottom (be sure the main model is selected in the dropdomn

I think, at the very least, the light-up Jedi minifigures should have their hear/headgear

Looks like you may be in luck

Brettj666, as a buyer with a lost package, you can chosse not to file a complaint.
You will give your word and (I’m sure) stand by it.  And there’s a good probability
no authorities will come after you¹.

But it’s not so simple.
As Sylvain said:
— There’s buyers who won’t stand by their word.
— And it shouldn’t be your choice, because the laws (and PayPal’s terms) make
it the seller’s problem.

The laws are this way because there’s sellers who will accept » advertise » incite
» force a no-refund policy.
The seller is considered in a “dominant position” (not sure of the translation
) while the buyer is considered not having a clue.  And that’s not untrue.

Any seller who accepts to send without guarantee (out of the cases where it’s
authorized) is both taking a bet and promoting that policy.  It’s also unfair
to the sellers who don’t bet.

It’s a bit like Friends & Familly or lying on custom forms: “oh, I just accepted
to do this to help my customers.”  Maybe, maybe not.  It still is illegal, something
the seller shouldn’t do, and it’s making the store more attractive to buyers
(even if it’s only to those buyers who asked first).
“A bit like” but actually worse: no-refund actually isn’t helping the buyer.

Yes, I know, there’s the argument “if the seller has to always send insured,
it’ll cost more for everybody!”  But experienced sellers tell us it’s not true:
they know² when to pay for insurance and when to auto-insure and many still propose
low-cost shipping.

–––
¹ Maybe if the seller is a investigated for scamming practices, someone will
call you to know if you’re also a victim
² Some know even better now. *cough* 70% *cough*

No.  That’s a false choice and that not fair at all.

Insurance is for the seller (they are the one who has a contract with the postal
services).
If the seller sends untracked and uninsured, it’s on them.

A few months ago, a placed an order from a highly rated Danish seller. The order

included on the order), and the seller and I both agree that the item was likely
lost or stolen. The seller sent photographic proof that he wrote my mailing address

We're considering a 50% refund as the fairest option, but I'm curious

I don't, I never: I won't play a 1€ discount against a chance to lose

If the seller doesn't insure or doesn't care, then it's his problem,

Sticker gives you tracking (here at least), not insurance.

And I don't see, above, it's my problem, not the buyer's one.

See my recent post about a 250€ order refunded 70% only by FULL insurance because
it's their terms because we're professionals.

Again, it's not the buyer's problem, it's mine.

While he has paid or not insurance is neither the buyer problem or PayPal, or
the Government one.

"excuse me, we have a warrant out for your arrest, apparently, you asked
for cheap shipping and got it, it was lost and you refused to exercise your rights...
You're coming with us"

Sorry, but this is a very obsolete point of view.

Also - you forget:
* people who can't understand fine printed terms,
* terms not written in the buyer language,
* people who could but clicked too fast by error, or because it would've
been TL;DR

Again, and for the last 10 years at the minimum, this "I have the right to
take my chance to save $1 but lose $15" is completely wrong in many Countries.

The seller can decide:
* to take the risk (fine in 99.9999% of cases),
* to protect him paying for insurance,
* or to require this to be paid.

This is a strawman, you keep putting this on the seller. I can still choose
not to say "you have to reimburse me", it's almost like being responsible
(as a buyer) for my own choices is somehow criminal.

So, say you have a 30 cent sticker that you can mail to me, because it's
paper, for a euro. No tracking.
I say thanks, here's 1,30

Now, it doesn't come, lost in the mail.

It's only 1,30, so I'm not even going to mention it.

OMG, I just exercised a right not to exercise a right. wow.

This isn't about the seller tricking me, this isn't about fine print.

the seller probably would refund me, but I, as the buyer, don't have to ask
them to make that choice because I'm a big boy.

It's not the buyer concern.

I am trying to find a piece I have on My Collections. It is a technic wheel.
Can I find it from the number printed on it (2895)? I believe Lego calls it a
'design id'. I don't know what set its from because I bought it at
Goodwill.

Here's a photo: (It looks white in the photo but it is actually light bluish
gray)

sorry it didn't upload:

Part No: 2695 Name: Wheel 30mm D. x 13mm (13 x 24 Model Team)

2695 Wheel 30mm D. x 13mm (13 x 24 Model Team)
Parts: Wheel

Thanks! That's it!

I know it's printed small, but please when giving an ID or a clue, try not
to make a whole forum search for a wrong one 2695/2895

Also, a picture would have given you an instant reply, though.

I ship too without tracking on small orders and if I, as a seller, got a message
from a buyer, I'd would be responsible.

But my reply would be as a buyer. If "I" asked for cheaper shipping
knowing it couldn't be tracked and it didn't show up, I acknowledge that
they did me a favour and it would be on me.

Now, would I love for my buyers to feel the same way, sure, but the idea that
I can have a right (to get my product) that I have no choice but to enforce is
silly..

So, you can't be sure buyer has even seen or thought at the risk he's
taking.

No, distant selling isn't a game anymore; just talk about this with PayPal,
you'll see

So, you think paypal will tell me I "have to get my money back"?

you think any government would say "that's not a right you can choose
to use or not"

Seriously?

If I want someone to ship without insurance, I'm going to benefit from that
and if it doesn't work out, I'm going to hold THEM responsible for my
choice?

All this would do is dry up the sellers willing to ship to save me money

... Ssssooooo... If it's seller responsibility should the seller foot the
bill for mandatory insurance?

Depends on your risk management strategy. I charge insurance on orders over
$50, I will replace or refund all orders lost, and we have decided that we can
handle the occasional $50 or less "loss."

We have an order out right now that appears to be lost that has 10 rare items.
So, I just took another 10 out of my inventory as insurance for the buyer in
case it is indeed lost, it will be a minor hit, but the customer service, in
my mind, is worth it.

I believe that Bricklink should null and void all of the "I am not responsible
for your order once I hand it off to the shipper" nonsense. IMO, this only
encourages bad selling practices and unhappy customers.

If you are a seller, you are bound by the same contract that your buyer is agreeing
to upon submission of their order.

Hi,

You should be able to find a part by its LEGO Design ID here because BrickLink
uses it as a base for its IDs.

The differences are:
1. Some parts have multiple Design IDs for LEGO but are “bunched” together on
BL.  In that case, the BL parts has the other Design IDs as “Alternate IDs” and
they are searchable too.
2. Some parts have one Design ID for LEGO but are deemed different on BL.  In
that case, the BL parts IDs have a letter or another suffix.  For instance,
3001 = brick 2x4, 3001old = the older version(s), without inner supports.
3. On BrickLink, decorated parts (print or sticker) use the plain part’s ID,
with a “p…” suffix.  For instance 3005p04.
4. Some parts are a composite, an assembly of subparts (either sold that way
by LEGO or assembled afterward but difficult to disassemble).  Those parts have
a “c…” suffix.

For 2, 3, 4, you can find the part by adding an asterisk (*) to the ID: searching
“3005*” will give you all the decorated 1x1 bricks (3005).

You should also be able to find a part by its LEGO Element ID (called PCC, Part
Colour Code here) too.

That being said, 3895 doesn’t seem to be a LEGO design ID.
Does it have a LEGO logo somewhere?  (Not all LEGO parts do but when they have,
we are sure they aren’t clones )

Could you post a pic?
That’s the ultimate solution when you can’t find part: use the community

We're considering a 50% refund as the fairest option, but I'm curious

Regardless of the rights of the buyer in the sellers country, you can 'have'
a right and not exercise it.

if I'm holding the seller responsible when I'm trying to save money,
the seller may simply choose not to give me a choice in the matter the next time.
And I will always want the right to choose.

I would reply, thank you for the offer of the 50%, but I took my chances in sending
it uninsured. That's just me though

If the seller paid insurance, which they should have on an order over $10 usd.
They should be reimbursed the full cost. You should too. We've had 2 orders
lost by usps, one was delivered 3 months later. Refund was issued prior, all
good. Cost of doing business.

And only 1/1000 have actually been lost or stolen.

Agree on approx this number; in short, it's very small.

Much more, if a seller pays for insurance, imagine what's the cost on 1000
order... Refund from time to time may be cheaper.

But of course it's a bit more complex, there's tracking which may not
be provided without insurance (depending Country/postal), and other legal concerns...

I've never had anything stolen, just a few hiccups on the road. About 4%
of my mail is not delivered. They're almost always waiting for pick up at
the post office. A tiny percentage are sent back. And only 1/1000 have actually
been lost or stolen. I completely gave up on an order once, and it was delivered
7 months later.

You're justified for a full refund, but I'd err on the side of optimism
and eat the costs.

Absolutely not, 100% refund is.

A couple months ago we've a 250+ € order lost, and discovered even with the
proper insurance rate, French Post Colissimo only refund private customers to
100% - but 70% to professionals

In short, we lost the order, time to pick/prepare it, ship it, and 30% of the
value.

But still of course we've refund 100%.

Also, sellers: read *well* your insurance terms especially for pros

It's completely the seller's responsibility. If he chose not to do tracking,
that's on him to accept the risk.

Unfortunately, my purchase settings won't change after repeated attempts.

Which settings are you talking about?

1. Icon My BL »» Settings »» My Wanted List Settings
  »» https://www.bricklink.com/wantedSettings.asp?viewFrom=P
There’s a “Save Settings” button at the bottom of the options.

2. On the Buy Page (icon Want »» Buy), you have Store Filters (see pic).
Those should be memorized, by preference cookies.
So maybe check that you accept those cookies: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/cookies.page
But even if you don’t accept cookies you should be able to change them (and
you would have to, each time, because without preference cookies, they revert
to the defaults… but that doesn’t prevent you from changing them, just from keeping
them).

Or other settings I forgot about?

IOW, more info please

  Hello!
A few months ago, a placed an order from a highly rated Danish seller. The order
amounted to 434.69 DKK (roughly $62.82 USD), and was shipped February 20th. It's
been over three months and the order is nowhere to be seen (tracking was not
included on the order), and the seller and I both agree that the item was likely
lost or stolen. The seller sent photographic proof that he wrote my mailing address
correctly, so none of this is his fault.
We're considering a 50% refund as the fairest option, but I'm curious
about what you all think.
Thanks!

Was the shipping a priority service, for example, air, or was it sent by some
economical shipping service, for example, surface or economy air?

Definitely ensure both you and the seller check the shipping agencies responsible
for handling the parcel in both countries. Both you and the seller should also
check with the Customs agency in the respective country, perhaps it was delayed
there?

Sometimes packages show up late because they went to an unexpected destination.
You might still get your package, although as you state, there is a large possibility
it was lost or stolen.

The package should have had a Customs form, sometimes they can track it via that
number, if you or the seller have it. In some cases they use a declaration sticker
but if it's for goods nowadays, it needs to be a properly filled out Customs
form for the relevant country.

Cheers ...

legally the seller is fully responsible for the delivery and should refund fully
but if you are fine with 50% that 100% is up to you and the seller would likely
be happy

Hello all. This may be my first post here.

In the listing information of a set, there are two sections at the bottom that
I don’t understand. What are “alternate parts” and “counter parts?”

Thanks,
- Rob

See https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=1562

Alternate is for instance when some copies of the set contain a brick with solid
studs and other copies of the same set have been found with this brick with open
studs.

Counter parts is for instance a wheel and a tire listed each separate in a set,
with the combination of both in the counterpart section. Similarly for unstickered
parts + sticker sheets in the main section, and the stickered parts in the counter
parts section.

counterparts are for things like stickered parts or part assemblies like a
turntable where the base an top are connected. alternate items is for when 1
part is found in 2 different versions or moulds in a set it gets added to alternates
or if a set is redesigned during production but stays as the same set then then
new parts get added there

I swear there was a set that had 1x1 round brick chrome but for the life of me
I can’t find it. Would someone please help before I pull my hair out. Thanks

Which colour of chrome? There is chrome gold, silver, antique brass, black, blue,
green, and pink.

Chrome silver like an old bumper I want to use them as exhaust pipes

Is this the piece? https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=71075&colorID=22&in=A

Thanks for the help, yes I came across that one too but I'm thinking it might
be to long but if I order some and they don't work they just go into inventory
so win win. Thanks again.
