| The catalog states that part [P=3009f3] has "frosted vertical lines". It seems
to be just "inside supports", found in other bricks as well. Actually, these
inside supports also exist for vintage 1x6 bricks in other colors (I have found
them in red, black, blue, white, yellow) but for some reason, the catalog considers
those to be regular 3009's. What is the reason for this differentiation?
IMHO, 3009f3 should either be merged with 3009, or 3009f3 should include the
other colors. Or at least mention this confusion in a note on the parts involved.
This issue may also be relevant for other brick types (1x2, 1x3, 1x4, 1x8). I
haven't checked if the opaque colors exist with inside supports for these
yet.

It is about the stripes you see on the sides/outside of the brick. Not the supports
on the inside.
Unless I misunderstood your question that is what I believe the ‘frosted vertical
lines’ means.

But I believe it's the inside supports that make up the "frosted vertical
lines" that of course can be seen from the outside. I can't see any other
vertical lines than the inside supports on the parts in question.

These are more noticeable on 2x4 bricks, I don't know if old standard 3009
had them, currents ones seems not:

I always believed the lines on the outside of the brick are the frosted lines,
see the marks I put on the original picture. If I am wrong, let me know.

And the next original picture shows marks pointing at the horizontal frosted
lines.

I have never seen any standard bricks with lines on the outside of the brick.
All "frosted" versions I have seen are modifications to the inside of the brick
that can be seen from outside because they're transparent. Please see my
photo of opaque bricks elsewhere in this thread.

I think I rest my case.
Yes, maybe they are not on the outside but they are visible on the outside.
But due to the fact you see them and therefore look differently I guess they
thought it would be wise to mention it in the description.
In your others bricks it doesn’t change the appearance (on the outside that you
see when build), in the transparent bricks it does change the appearance and
therefore it should be noted.
So it is all about the looks.

If no one has a better image of [P=3002f1] (I don't see any "frosting" on
the current image), I believe this may also just be the same as with
inside supports which are currently found only in set .
Please consider updating the part's note.

I would need to see the inside of solid color versions of 3002 from that time
period before considering the addition of a note.
