| This request concerts these two parts:
* | | 3626bpx22 Minifigure, Head Standard Grin with Red Messy Hair, Moustache, and Vertical Lines Beard Pattern - Blocked Open Stud Parts: Minifigure, Head |
are very similar. So here are a few details, I'd like to change/discuss:
1) I belive that the first two pictures shown for part 3626bpb0025 are in fact
the red version, i.e. wrong. Please remove them. The third image has a darker
pattern and may be the correct one, but it's very small and with black background
which may make comparison with the other part harder (that part is photographed
on a white background).
2) I'll upload new images for both parts with consistent lighting, and I'll
upload a comparison image as well. In fact, I stronly urge you to delete all
previous images -- they're either wrong, tiny or with bad lighting.
3) I'll suggest a change of the title for 3626bpb0025 (Brown pattern) to
change the color of the pattern to "Dark Red". IMHO, it's clearly not brown,
but a darker shade of red. If this is not accepted, please consider writing a
note on the parts about the shades of red instead.
4) I'll add a "Same Items with Different Pattern Style" relationship between
the two parts.
Hopefully this will make the difference between these two parts clearer, because
I don't think it is now.

BTW - I may have totally misunderstood this, because my two parts don't show
that only the moustache has the changed color (the BL images also don't show
this). So I believe it's the whole pattern that has a different color. Otherwise,
all the points above are not valid and all my requests and new images should
be rejected. Please share thoughts on this.

Isn’t that the first decorated head (after the standard grin)?
Seems to me they just used one unique, unicolour pad on top of the grin.

| A few more notes:
has the "brown" face in the inventory but I belive the image shows
the red head.
has the "brown" face also, and one of the two heads in the image shows
this. The other head looks red to me.

Also, I find it hard to believe that the brown version comes in 12 minifigs but
the red only in 2. My spare parts that I have gotten from random assortment of
bricks have 5 red pattern variants with torsos that match the minifigures with
this head and only one brown pattern variant with no torsos that matches any
minifigs with that head. This might be a conincidence, but I dare to mention
it.

Jan,
I don't know if it has any bearing on what you're bringing up here, but
have a gander at my listing among the others here
...something to do with the red print on some older heads? Don't know
for sure, so I have them listed denoting misprint, for now.

Your head seems to show a true brown color for that part. I'm not convinced
that this is the case for the parts were discussing, but I would be very interested
in an image of showing a true brown color like yours.
I'm taking the liberty of posting your "misprint" image in this thread (as
a response to this) so people can compare the colors. If this is not okay with
you, I'll remove that message.

Is it possible that one or more of the 25 various minifigs produced, was printed
with brown accents rather than the red, as listed?
IOW, an error in BL listing for one or more of the 25?
gotta be asked, to be discounted...

My initial thought here from this picture in the post I'm replying to and
the comparison you posted up the thread is that none of these are the 'red'
version but just slightly different versions of the brown version.
I also think that the first image for
is over brightened so is not a true representation of the correct 'brown'
colour.
Similarly if you brighten the image for
* | | 3626bpx22 Minifigure, Head Standard Grin with Red Messy Hair, Moustache, and Vertical Lines Beard Pattern - Blocked Open Stud Parts: Minifigure, Head |
Then you end up with the attached which does look a lot redder than the images
you have submitted.
But just to add situation the images for the two minifigs the 'red' one
is supposed to have come in don't really help to clarify anything

The images I have provided are from my scanner which is the only way I can get
an image of multiple heads in consistent lighting and without flash highlights.
They may appear dark, but I'm convinced that the images I have provided (except
for the left image in the comparison) are in fact red, not brown. In daylight,
they look very red to me.
Here's a photo of one of the five heads taken by my mobile phone, original
and aa very brightened version.

BricksThatStick reached out to me since I uploaded the image for the red beard
version. I read through the thread and I'll give my two cents:
In my opinion, all the pics of bearded heads that normann1974 uploaded are brown
only. I agree there is some variation in the color between brown and red-brown
as can be seen with
and the other pic normann1974 posted, but the printing still isn't actually
red.
As an example of distinguishing the heads (and hopefully not make things more
difficult), I would say that, regarding the brown and red colors, these two heads
* | | 3626bpx22 Minifigure, Head Standard Grin with Red Messy Hair, Moustache, and Vertical Lines Beard Pattern - Blocked Open Stud Parts: Minifigure, Head |
differ much like these two differ
* | | 3626bpx123 Minifigure, Head Standard Grin with Dark Red Messy Hair, Moustache, and Vertical Lines Beard, Black Eye Patch Pattern - Blocked Open Stud Parts: Minifigure, Head |
* | | 3626bpx80 Minifigure, Head Standard Grin with Red Messy Hair, Moustache, and Vertical Lines Beard, Black Eye Patch Pattern - Blocked Open Stud Parts: Minifigure, Head |
which I think would be helpful since the 3626bpx80 is much more accessible to
people than 3626bpx22 and would serve as a good comparison.
I do still have the head that I took a pic of for 3626bpx22 and I might have
one more. I'll take some pictures tomorrow of the various heads to hopefully
demonstrate the differences in color.

So here's my comparison pic.
In my personal collection, all the lower left head printings are pretty indistinguishable
colorwise among pirate figures as well as the cavalry figures, most certainly
not red. So for those who think their brown pattern may be red, just compare
it with a Redbeard head. As you can see, the print pattern looks to be the same
between patched and non-patched heads. (I know the top left beard appears thicker
but I think that's just from the printing looking kind of smudged when it
was applied.)

@normann1974 I have added your additional images to part 3626bpb0025 as neither

Once again, Dark Red versus Red. I don't think Brown was ever an appropriate
color to describe the printing on these parts.

Thank you for the input. I've suggested the same change to part
now. It doesn't appear brown either.
Also, I see no reason to keep the two primary images for part .
I can't distinguish that part from the red pattern version by using those
images. The color difference is clearer when comparing against my two images
that were added. But it'll have to be an admin's decision.
