Hi

In set

Set No: 8051 Name: Motorbike
*
8051-1 (Inv) Motorbike
467 Parts, 2010
Sets: Technic: Model: Riding Cycle

the hoses are 11L in sealed sets. But the instructions require the builder to
cut 1L off them (see page 39), so that they are 10L. So when selling a used set,
including 10L hoses should be okay. Also, two 1L hoses could be added to make
the set 100% complete. But at this point, the inventory only states 11L hoses
are valid contents of this set.

How should this situation be handled? Should 10L hoses be added as alternates
or counterparts? And should the 1L hoses be added as extras?

/Jan

That would not be necessary as the 1L hoses could be considered waste like the
leftover plastic from plastic sheets, the sprues left over from parts on a sprue,
etc. The 10L hoses would make the used set complete.

But at this point, the inventory only states 11L hoses are valid contents of this

Right now, I only see 10L hoses in the set. Was that a typo?

I would at first suggest to change the hoses in the Regular Items section to
be the 11L hoses and then add the 10L hoses and 1L hoses as Counterparts. This
would be identical to how shorter lengths of string are handled in inventories
when they are cut from an original larger length of string. However, since the
1L hoses are technically not needed, we technically don't need to list them
as Counterparts either. In either case, the 11L hoses need to be in the Regular
Items section and the 10L hoses in the Counterparts section. I could go either
way on whether to also keep the 1L hoses as Counterparts or just not have them
listed at all.

Marek, do you have any thoughts on this?

Cheers,
Randy

Sorry, I made a mistake. Because the set came with 11L hoses, I expected the
inventory to reflect this, and obviously I didn't see this inconsistence.

I agree but await Marek's comments before making any inventory request.

There is no doubt that 11l should be in regular section and 10l in counterparts
because it is permanently changed during the building. In my opinion I think
I would treat 1l as "waste" similary to sprues and not add it to the counterpart
section.

Thanks, Marek. I am glad that we agree.

Jan, please go ahead and submit the proper change requests to have the 11L hoses
as Regular Items and the 10L hoses as Counterparts. Also, very nice catch!

Randy
