So i have few parts missing from my set. I created a wanted list and made so

But the problem is i get notifications whenever ANY store in the world has them.

What i want is to get notifications only from stores in specific country (my

How do i do that please?

Thanks!

I think you can't get them from only your country, it is all or none.

But to see which store has all or most of your items use the button Buy All on
top of your wanted list, there you can select to show stores of your country
only.

It should be possible

But we have 2-5% extra than listed quantity, so I can't be 100% sure.

Are you using any kind of software outside of Bricklink that interacts with the

If so, maybe that deducted one (or more) orders twice.

No, we didn't update that lot. In fact, we can't make any lot negative.
Bricklink won't allow it.

Through the inventory pages it is indeed not possible, but via the API you can
(or at least it was possible in the past).
That's why I asked if you are using software outside of Bricklink

In Suggestions, mbryson1 writes:
From the perspective of a very new buyer, there are too many status options available
to sellers.

In my situation, I instantly paid for an order. After a week, the seller updated
the order status from "paid" to "processing." As a result, I am unable to submit
a NSS complaint until 1 week after the seller updated the order status, even
though there has been no material change and the only action to date is my payment.
(And yes, I did reach out to the seller, but never received a response).

There is still 1 more day before the 2nd week expires, and the seller will have
the opportunity to use another of the many status options available to delay
the NSS complaint another week. I imagine this could continue and prohibit me
from ever initiating the NSS process.

My suggestion is that BrickLink change this functionality so that once an order
is "paid" a seller cannot update the status to earlier in the timeline. The
only options available after "paid" should be "packed" and "shipped." There
should be no reason for an order to be "processing," which indicates the seller
is creating an invoice, after the order has been paid.

Are you sure about this?
Help page says "At least 7 days have passed from the order submission date (since
the order was last submitted or updated)."
And altering a status is not the same as updating an order.
So I think you should still be able to file the NSS at this moment.

There should be some kind of address besides the poste restante.
Postal service needs to know in which post office the mailbox is.
So only a name and poste restante is not enough

I never finished the KPB but anyway this is wrong. But what should I do with

I had it with an order from end 2019.
Was set from purged to pending. Answer I received:

The status has been reset for our own records. As the NSS/ NRS alert hasn't
been completed on the buyer's side within the 10 days as per BrickLink policy,
this order is going to remain in Pending status form now on to show there used
to be an alert in place.
No action is needed on your side.

But I couldn't see the order.
If I remember correctly, this only is an internal BL thing, where you should
not have been able to see the change.

Maybe after daily maintenance they will be gone again

You may have missed out on the whole US TAX thing and have a custom invoice template
that doesn't account for it.
If you don't have anything special in it, reset it to default and try again,
otherwise put the TAX lines in to your template.

I think you need to add a manual method. If I put something from your store in
my cart it shows no shipping methods available.

So now I've changed the methods to all be "estimation only" methods, rather
than "instant checkout"...we'll see how that goes.

Be aware that the estimations are way off, if this is all you corrected.
You really should look into the shipping options to see if they are correct.
If you did not change them since you opened then they will likely be (very) wrong.

have a printer, transparent sleeves, and don't want the hassle if something
goes wrong.

Every shipment going outside the EU requires the paperwork.
Filled CN22 or CN23 and there has to be a paper invoice on the outside in a plastic
sleeve (or envelope). And the invoice maybe not the greatest issue and the CN
you can fill out at the postal office, but that is not the easiest way to do
it.

I didn't know that invoices are now required, I haven't done that so
far and at least didn't have problems yet. Hopefully it doesn't lead
to people paying sales tax twice, or I might also stop shipping outside the EU.
The CN22 is part of the online registration, I agree that is a pain if you'd
have to do it manually. But it's not exactly because of the tax topic, that
part was always there.

An invoice has always been required for commercial transactions (B2C and B2B).
That is not new
I haven't done it either (only on very large orders) and aren't planning
to do so.
Heck most orders are shipped in a small bubble mailer, the A6 label from PostNL
just fits on it, so attaching an invoice is a no go.

a few customers contacting me to let me know the options aren't available.
The orders are also very small and should fit easily in a large letter. I also
haven't changed any settings or added any custom weights or sizes. Since
starting trading last year.

My question is, is there anything being done about it and is there anything temporary
I could do to drive orders to my store? Maybe unchecking instant checkout for
example.

Would it be possible to set up the shipping method by yourself rather than using
the template? That way you're in control. I made a deliberate choice not
to use any BL defined templates (my "never leave it to Bricklink" philosophy
) and I have noticed no changes with letter shipments.

It is Bricklink that is at fault, but in another way.
There is something wrong with custom dimensions while they are converted from
mm to cm (or not).
Just search the forum, I think there is a post in the technical issues topic,
Russel responded there.

"a check-out session has expired".

I receive payments for my own webshop through the same channel, and while I have
more orders, I have maybe one unsuccesful payment per month there.

I've tried to reach out to the buyers but most have not responded. Two told
me it was indeed intentional, but I still worry about the ones that didn't
respond, as there are quite many of these attempts. This could be a real problem,
right..?! Is it because of that last page that Bricklink has where you have to
(redundantly) confirm your payment? Often when I pay onsite I forget this step
exists and find it an hour later somewhere in my browser tabs.. but as it is
mostly American users, it could be because of sales tax changing the buyer's
mind, too.. I really have no idea. And even in the best case that all were somehow
intentional, it was still a lot of time wasted for the buyers.

I am surprised this thread is not getting more replies than it does. I think
that must mean that this affects only certain stores? Why mine, what could be
different about mine? I have these failed payments daily now..

I just checked my stripe but got no cancelled payment, but I have to say that
I only have 4 payments through stripe for BL since 27 okt

  Hi.

I'm not sure if this is indeed a Human error, or not, but I have NOTHING
in my store that is allowed to be sold due to no 'sizes' showing in the
dimensions format.

nothing is showing the weight, size (either in studs or mm sizes)

Have I done something or is it BL?

Paul

Hello?

all these views and no suggestions?

This is very worrying, as I cannot find ANY dimensions for ANY of tyhe items
in my store.

Even some of the items are within the catalogue, and they have no dimensions
( like a friends mini-doll for example)

I'll have to close my store in the meantime, to avoid getting queries from
potential customers.

Paul

I see no issues in my inventory, everything looks normal. Yes most dimensions
boxes are empty, but the catalog dimensions are shown, just as normal.

Looking at your store. I put some items in my cart and see no sign of issues,
with some minidolls there is no warning that IC is unavailable.
I put in 5436 and then there is an non-IC symbol shown, so the system is working.

"due to no 'sizes' showing in the dimensions format."
This is not an error that BL has, so either it is your summary or a buyers. Maybe
you can state the full error tekst or screenshot.
Maybe a screenshot of what you see is also helpful.

And maybe BL fixed the issue in the meantime, without anyone else noticing the
same issue

Goed gespot.
hun site.... lekker handig..
https://www.postnl.nl/klantenservice/coronavirus/tijdelijke-toeslag-bestemmingen-buiten-europa/

toeslag is.

As to err is only human, I would suggest to contact the seller once more, politely,
and ask for a cancellation.

Threathening with a NPB, especially to new users, is a red flag for me for this
store.
Are these sellers foolproof themselves? One can sure doubt that.
As UK-stores are unfortunately already on my no-go-list due to the tax/postal
issues since Brexit, I am not interested in the store's identity. Others
might though.

And whatever the 'bottomline' is regarding the legally binding contract
(read GrayBricks reply), it's still mostly a privately run marketplace here.....
Let's try to behave like that.

And maybe point out that there are consumer laws that give you the right to cancel
an order within a certain amount of time. Whatever the sellers terms are, or
what is stated on Bricklink when you are going through checkout.
Bricklink also states that everyone has to abide by local laws.

In the worst case (for the seller) he has to pay back all the money you gave
him and pay for the return shipping if he/she goes ahead with this (in my opinion)
nonsense and you do pay and later return the order.

Anybody can make a mistake and I think everyone should be reasonable about it.
I really can't see why a seller would push it like this.
Chances on a negative to the seller would be none.

All of the three shared this general pattern:

We had X parts for sale.
Buyer purchased X parts.
Stock remaining was listed as -2X. (And put in stockroom).

I then checked another lot.

We previously had 82 parts for sale.
Buyer purchased 22 parts.
Lot showed 16 parts remaining.

It subtracted the triple the number of parts actually sold on all of these lots.
There are 6 more lots in the order that I have yet to check, but some of them
have remaining quantities in the thousands, so I am loathe to count them all
up.

Has anyone else had this problem?

What factors contribute if anything is known?

Thanks for any input.

Maybe some syncing software going of rails?
Try and see if it has some kind of logging and look at it around the order time
to see if that gives some clue.

ik op postnl moet invoeren, zoals:
- postcode
- straatnaam
- huisnummer
- plaatsnaam
- provincie of regio

Iets erbij plakken

Lol, Bricklink still didn't fix this... that plan to make order statuses
more streamlined really worked out very well

How is there a fix for this?
Paying with offsite method, there is no way for BL to know that an order has
been paid, hence the status won't change.
So as far as I can tell, this is working as intended (whether sellers like it
is another thing)

charging. This particular set is available (New) from my store, and one UK store.

My US competitor is showing a block in the upper left that reads ...
Seller does not support orders shipping to Florida.

OK, that sounds like they are being state limited because they do no support
onsite. Sure enough, when I switch to Terms I see they do not accept PayPal or
Stripe (either onsite or offsite). So that suggests that BL will not allow orders
to them for 40-45 of the US states. Last 6 month sales at that store show 2.
Presumably the state limitation is restricting their availability to accept US
orders via BrickLink.

Their store header line reads ...
We happily ship to all 50 states! Please contact us if there is any issue
completing an order.

But that (more of less) confused me for a moment ... then it dawned on me that
they may be getting requests via the Contact mechanism, and running the orders
off the BrickLink system. The 2 orders I did see, were likely to those states
that have no US sales tax (and BL is not restricting them), or they came in
just before BL activated those states.

So my question is, if they are using BL to run sales (by using the Contact mechanism)
are they actively avoiding PayPal fees and BL fees, and (by definition) avoiding
the BL feedback system on the orders they are running.

For disclosure, they do have on offer about 1/3 the new sets that I have on offer,
so they are a competitor in many SKUs. I really don't want to see them get
shut down, but they do seem to be using BL for free advertising.

Where is the line ?

Nita Rae

A way to see if they are actually selling sets is to load all there items in
a cart and check once in a while if items are gone.
And see if they are selling through another site, if that's the case then
there is no telling if they sell via (but without) Bricklink.
If all items remain they are surely not selling anything, or just don't keep
an accurate inventory

She has them on.  You can see a bigger picture on Brickset (there’s the picture
of the box and the “raw” picture that was used on the box).
(Click on a picture to see it in a popup and then click on the arrows at the

Indeed, on Brickset one skate is visibele on her, one can assume the other one
is on as well

  Hi,
I would like to see if anyone can confirm how many of the 93555 Flat Silver Ice
Skates are in set 40107-1.

The constructed image with the set shows that there should be 4x (2x on minifig
hol052, 2x loose to the side of the rink), yet the image on the instructions
and on the box only shows 2x in total (to the side of the rink, not on hol052.)

The set inventory shows 2x 93555 included, while the minifigure inventory for
hol052 also has the 2x 93555 listed.

I bought this set locally, used, on the weekend from a reputable adult collector,
and it only has 2x skates included.

Thank you!
Dennis

The last page on the instruction booklet shows 4:

• Buspakje: 4,4%
• Pakjes zonder track & trace: 1,7%
• Pakjes met track & trace: 2,7%
• Pakjes extra: 5,7%

Oh?

https://www.postnl.nl/tarieven/tarieven2022/

Het volledige tarievenboekje:

https://www.postnl.nl/Images/tarievenboekje-2022_tcm10-212709.pdf?version=1
(Pagina 8)

- postcode
- straatnaam
- huisnummer
- plaatsnaam
- provincie of regio

As far as I can see you rely solely on IC and have no backup manual option.
So as soon as an item is missing weight and/or packaging dimensions the options
fail.
Depending on the items in the cart I get:
No shipping methods available (This comes with an item in the cart that misses
both values)
or
Order restrictions not met (this comes when only one of the values is missing,
and for this a bypass password can be given).

You have to options for a solution.
Make sure you have a manual invoice backup option. Maybe it is best to make sure
you have this, this way, what ever happens you always have an option for buyers.
or
Make sure all items for sale have weight and packaging dimensions.
For new sets you can add it to the catalog, for used sets you can set them for
that lot only in your inventory. For parts you can add them to the catalog (if
you have the means to measure them accurately).

To find the items in your inventory that are a problem, go to your inventory,
look for the 'Instant Checkout Unavailable' option on the right side,
activate it and click go. And fill in the missing values.

You're going to have to be a bit more specific.
Are there certain countries where people are able to submit orders, and countries
where people are not?

I just checked your store out and experimented. There is a chance that the issue
has something to do with your shipping options.

For example, if I add three minifigures which satisfy the 10 euro minimum for
your courier, I am able to checkout.
However, if I attempt to purchase the Expedition Balloon item (which is unavailable
for instant invoice / checkout), then I am unable to go forward with my purchase.

Perhaps look around in shipping? I'll continue testing out stuff to help
you.

The only way to bypass this temporarily until you figure out the issue is to
provide your customers with a bypass password, or I may just be completely wrong.

There is no password bypass for shipping options that aren't there
As you tested you could have seen that there is no input field dor a password.
The only things you can do are 'contact seller' and 'add to wanted
list'.
And I think most buyers will stop there, empty the cart and leave

aanmaken.

https://www.postnl.nl/klantenservice/zakelijk/zending-aanmaken-versturen/zendingen-importeren/productcode/

Vreemd/jammer.

on the site yet?

Thanks for helping

You can divide the stores between those who offer Instant Checkout and those
who do not.

The stores who offer IC, should allow you to place the item into a shopping cart,
and see the total due (without the manual process of a quote request). Merely
limit you visibility to those who offer IC (the little lightning bolt) next to
the listing.

The stores who are on manual invoice, and likely requiring positive FB, because
they are trying to avoid new buyers who cause Non-Paying Buyer situations. There
are some buyers that think placing an order is like a Wish List, and they do
not have the ability to complete payment. Implementing IC filters out those buyers.

Nita Rae

Please stop saying to buyers that they should only use IC stores merely for the
sake of seeing the shipping cost.
I don't have IC, but almost every buyer with almost any order can see what
the total cost will be. Although BL does not show that very well.
On the other hand, I see IC stores that only offer IC for a very small range
of orders and that isn't helpful either.
So IC isn't a holy grale that will fix every kind of issue with orders, buyers
and/or sellers.

And why is a buyer with zero feedback not welcome in some stores? Does it really
say anything when that buyer has 1 positive?
I really don't get those sellers at all.

But that's just my view of things.

https://www.brexitloket.nl/actueel/nieuws/2020/12/22/nieuwe-regels-webwinkels

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/changes-to-vat-treatment-of-overseas-goods-sold-to-customers-from-1-january-2021/changes-to-vat-treatment-of-overseas-goods-sold-to-customers-from-1-january-2021#goods-located-outside-the-uk-at-the-point-of-sale
This means that the following types of businesses will have to register for
UK VAT (if not already registered) and account for VAT to HMRC:

any business that operates an OMP that facilitates sales of goods to UK customers
any business that sells goods directly (without OMP involvement) to UK customers
where the goods are (a) outside UK at the point of sale (b) imported to the UK
in consignments not exceeding £135 in value

Only it is in Dutch.
Can anyone confirm that it could be that leaflet?

It is general information about creating a model with sets as 750, 751 and 752

And another question, what price to set it at?
There is no price guide info for the leaflet or any of the instruction of the
mentioned sets.

https://shop.postnl.nl/webshop/zakelijke-hulpmiddelen/logistieke-hulpmiddelen/postzak-binnenland-10-st
https://shop.postnl.nl/webshop/zakelijke-hulpmiddelen/buitenland/label-pak-buitenland-25-st
https://shop.postnl.nl/webshop/zakelijke-hulpmiddelen/sluittouw-voor-postzakken

in 1 zak.

namelijk.....

https://shop.postnl.nl/webshop/zakelijke-hulpmiddelen/labels/zaklabel-priority-ongesorteerd-geel

Zakelijke producten daarvoor

Is it possible that the software you are using to sync inventory is playing up?
As far as I can see it is, your inventory on Bricklink is different from the
other place.

It seems that seller made a mistake with the postal code, only one digit difference
and did not bother to check the label against the shipping address.
Otherwise the difference in streetname would have been seen.
The address that is stated on the order can't be changed once the order is
done.

So al in al, it is the seller's mistake and he (or she) should correct that.

You could go to the shipping address and ask them if they have received the package
and ask it be given to you.
Or if they are nice people and they have refused the parcel, it could be on it's
way back to the seller. Maybe he could contact PostNL to get it delivered to
the correct (your) address.

Has anyone ever downloaded an part inventory xml file, deleted part inventory

this. If the system can't handle a large upload of 100,000 parts, there's
no way I'd open for parts trying to put them back in manually.

Looking for advice and "how to" - I've never uploaded a file to BL.

thanks in advance

Go and use Brickstore (the new version) for this.
You can download your complete inventory and reload it to BL after you have deleted
it.
I use it to upload new inventory.
As with large partouts you have to remind that you only upload (about) 500 lots
at a time.

Indeed, probably that's it. Thank you for the insight.

I would like to make the effort to update the catalog with the correct dimensions,

and very cumbersome (low approval rate), I don't think I will bother...

Please do fill in the correct dimensions, helps us (EU) buyers
Just look up the instruction and click on the ?, the 'Change Instructions

submit.

I'm not sure what you mean with 'low approval rate', but this morning
I did a few and they are already approved.

The IC issue is because all of my shipping methods are by weight.

I do put in quite a few packing dimensions even though my store doesn't use
them. But I think packing dimensions on minifigs are nonsense because no one
packs a box tight full of assembled minifigs.

I know you do a lot of dimensions, I have seen your name in that list many times
.
Maybe in the US it is common to only go by weight (I have seen other sellers
state something the same), but in Europe it is not.
Shipping something as letter is way cheaper than a parcel, but is strict in size.
So 100 figs weigh about 600 grams and for that could be shipped as letter, but
there is no way that will fit within the letter dimensions.

For me, this is one of the things why I haven't turned on IC

I will no go and fill in some dimensions for torso's, only 1083 lots to go
in my inventory that have no dimensions
(and thank you for the work you have done so far, hope you keep doing it)

I'm not sure if the BL ToS has to be accepted when creating an account, but
I assume so.

And when placing an order, you don't only get a preview of the terms of the
seller, but you have to click a button called 'Agree and Continue'.
I don't think that replacing that with a checkbox (or adding one as extra)
will have any effect on the non-reading of buyers.

Ok, so I just tried and all it's copying over to the clipboard is

Tried with just one item and got the same result.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Check this: https://github.com/rgriebl/brickstore/issues/98

Are you sure you imported your inventory correctly through Ctrl+I, Ctrl+S? And
then edited the remarks, selected all the items and clicked Export Mass Update

Are you sure you are using the new BrickStore (and not BrickStock or an older

What you see is what you would get from those older ones.

Looks like you only just started selling, so I think you have no fees to pay
yet.
The fees have to be paid (when a certain minimum is met) once a month (or once
a year if you don't reach the monthly limit).
Only when you are invoice for the fess the buttons will be become available.
And at that time you have the choice how to pay, either via PayPal or CC (via
Stripe)

There is no automatic BL fee payment on every order.
Maybe you are seeing a partner fee (or something like that) on the PP statement,
but that is for TAX payments, not BL seller fee.

I contacted Bricklink when it was first happening about a month ago, but no one

are you sure that they are getting the stated error?
And from what countries do they come?

I do see a notice:
Seller does not support orders shipping to Netherlands when item total is equal

But once above that total I see no other errors.

You don't offer PayPal onsite, so that would be the reason for the note.
And it makes that US buyers cannot buy from you. I'm not sue what error they
would get, I guess something like no shipping to their state/country

This is VERY weird. I did have pay-pal Onsite set up and somehow the box for
it in my settings has been "unchecked"? Anyway, I have now fixed that.

BUT...

I get this issue from people in my home country (Australia) and I have had it
with UK buyers, a guy from India yesterday and also new Zealand.

Now that I have fixed (I hope) the issue, would you mind checking again for me?
THANKS!!

The notice does not appear anymore
So that's fixed.

But doesn't explain the other issues.
You will have try and get more info from the potential buyers.

I had this issue previously, and support helped me change the custom message
so that it didn't run into this issue. It was a matter of adding some additional

Turns out that reverting to the default DID address the problem, so it looks
like another iteration of the same basic issue. I had sort of skipped this idea
in my own troubleshooting, because I trusted the solution support gave the first

Much appreciation for your help.

Hello Pete,
It might be that you were helped for the TAX things in the US and now are getting
the error because of the VAT things.
But that should imply that you are selling to an EU buyer, and that is just guessing
from my side

Glad it helped you out.

Even without specifying anything, somewhere every buyer would have to state that
the 3 options are all the same, maybe on every order they make.
I don't think it will help anything if the 3 options are standard filled
in with the same.

I wasn't trying to specify implementation, only the need to have three possible
addresses on an order. In theory, for the vast majority where all three are identical,
I can see one address being entered, and then ticking the checkbox for same as
above. I see no need to enter the same information three times, but I do see
the need to enter the information when it isn't identical.

And with TAX/VAT there is no issue. You ship to the given address, if there is
no TAX to be paid, just great. The forwarder will do the TAX/VAT thing if needed
for the shipping to the final destination. That is not something you or BL is
involved in.

So, without digging too deeply, one of the recent orders I had to refuse, had
an IP address that was not outside the USA. Freight forwarders are typically
being used for moving freight out of the USA. Due to software such as CG-NAT,
many IP addresses can be far away from where the user actually is located. My
own connections variably return FL or TX. While I am reasonably certain that
the IP address was with a large US provider, I am less certain about the location
it implied. There was a suggestion, but no certainty, that the IP address was
part of a block allocated to an area in my own state ... FL. If we take that
at face value, it makes me wonder about why someone in my own state would be
sending a package thru a freight forwarder all the way over in zone 8.

I do not believe the freight forwarders are assuming any responsibility for sales
tax collection within the USA, and may well have no responsibility for putting
a value on customs forms other than what their customer tells them to put on
it. New style freight forwarders (e.g. ShipStation) may well have access to data
concerning VAT value, whereas old style freight forwarders do not.

Nita Rae

Maybe the receiving country does not calculate VAT or TAX on incoming shipments.
And if they do, customs would not believe that a very large box containing a
variety of toys would be free of charge.
And even then, that is something between the forwarder, the buyer and the government
of the country it is all shipped to. So still not something you would have to
concern yourself with. As long as TAX is paid in case it is needed by US law,
BL and you are doing a legitimate sale.

So in the end. The problem you have yourself with the forwarder is that you probably
loose PP protection because there will, almost never, be proof of delivery in
these cases.
Looking at the forum, not every seller thinks that's a risk an are happy
to sell via a forwarder (if they will notice this anyway)
Hence my suggestion to have an option to cancel an order (without any penalty)
in such cases.
Or try to take it to PP to have them lift buyer protection in such cases.

In Suggestions, cosmicray writes:
Most of the problems I have had with BrickLink over the past couple of years,
are directly related to the lack of proper address reporting. This is a suggestion
to hopefully address the problem.

BrickLink only presents one address with each order. Customers apparently have
some ability to flex that address to whatever they want it to say. That has caused
problems with certain customers.

Every order should have three addresses, but they will likely be the same address
for the vast majority of orders.

The first address should be the address of the customer placing the order (i.e.
the entity making payment).

The second address should be the address the order is to be shipped to.

The third address is the final destination address for the order shipment (i.e.
the end customer).

If a customer is ordering for their own consumption, it is likely that all three
will be the same.

If someone is ordering for their own consumption, from another country and using
a freight forwarder, the first and third will be the same, but the second will
be the address of the freight forwarder.

If a drop shipper is ordering for drop shipment to their customer, the first
would reflect the drop shipper, and the third is the final end customer. The
second might be a freight forwader (for international) or the final end customer
(for domestic). In this case, the seller would see two or three different addresses,
but would have full clarity about who is performing what part of the transaction.

Part of the reason for this need, is that freight forwarders may be interfering
with BrickLink's legal need to collect sales tax and VAT. It is also needed
when a dispute arises, and someone is making a false claim against the seller.
It is important to know who all the parties in the transaction are, when sorting
out the dispute.

Anyone entering false information in any of the three addresses, should be subject
to BrickLink member sanctions.

So with every sale the buyer should fill in 3 addresses?
Or do it once and then on every order should the buyer confirm those addresses?
And make adjustments when needed.

Isn't that overkill for most of the BL orders?
I don't know how much of these kind of orders there are, but can't imagine
there are a lot.
So for only a tiny amount of orders, a lot of buyers will get nagged (with every
order).
I don't think that is wise to do.
And as far as PP protection goes, I don't think this will help.

Given your posts lately I think I understand why you want this, but am really
unsure on how many occasions there will be need for such drastic meassures.

And with TAX/VAT there is no issue. You ship to the given address, if there is
no TAX to be paid, just great. The forwarder will do the TAX/VAT thing if needed
for the shipping to the final destination. That is not something you or BL is
involved in.

However, what I think would be good, is that if a buyer is going against a sellers
terms, there should be an option to cancel the order where no feedback (either
seller nor buyer) can be given.
This should not be automated, but always be checked by BL.

But please don't bother all buyers, when there are only a few that would
'need' this to do.

Maybe the dimensions of the items exceed your shipping methods limits.
Add a manual invoice only shipping method and then the buyer can checkout.

methods available. Therefor not allowing me to continue onto the payment process
to make a purchase. I can see the items in my cart, but that is as far as it
will let me go. Is there a way around that, so I can continue?

I cannot figure out why certain buyers are getting this message from Bricklink
and certain buyers are not. In this case, the buyer was interested in a superlot
I have:

https://store.bricklink.com/tmxbricks?p=tmxbricks&itemID=257464084#/shop?o={%22invID%22:%22257464084%22}

Superlot #65303

Is it because these items are in a superlot that the buyer is getting this message?

I currently have USPS Retail Ground set up as a shipping method that should work
for this lot:

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/mystore/shipping_edit.page?id=117814

But I might be missing something. Since this is not the first time that potential
buyers have reported this issue to me, I thought I would ask in this forum to
see if anyone knew of a reason for the error.

-T

We can't see your shipping method, so no idea what the restrictions are.
But the superlot contains 11 sets, and although you flattened the boxes, Bricklink
will calculate shipping with the normal boxes.
So imagine all boxes stacked together (would come to 48x38x80 cm), does your
shipping method allow for such a size?

Removing one of the items in the quote from your inventory would cancel the quote

As far as I recall as a seller you can cancel a request if you want, no need
to give very high shipping cost, remove an item from inventory or wait 3 days.
If I remember correct I accidentally cancelled a request once.

Thanks for the awesome update Russell! I'm looking forward to all the announcements
and especially more emails in the future. Keep up the great work!

I was wondering if the development team had thought about the differences between
European/Asian shipping requirements vs. USA and how that effects the order?
We depend a lot less on the dimensions of an element and primarily on the weight
in part-based selling. The problem arises when the element/part in the catalog
gets listed as volume based (not set, that makes sense) and automatic checkout
no longer works for that element, discouraging people from buying.

Since the team is just really starting to dig into the seller tools and seem
to be taking requests, please consider using different zones based on shippers
location when BL forces an element to the volume based shipping. It causes more
issues stateside (your primary market) by limiting sale of that element via auto-checkout
until dimensions are entered or the seller manually changes it back to weight
based.

We're all just trying to sling our brick as quickly and accurately as possible,
things like changing elements to volume without having dimensions makes that
more difficult. Thank you for your time.

- Big B

Maybe it should be enforced that when setting an item to volume based, dimensions
are required.
On the other hand, sellers have been able (since 2017) to spot those items quite
simple and put in a request to add dimensions (they supply)
But I don't see an announcement that BL will turn all items to volume bases,
so I don't think that will have to worry you.

For me as, European seller, size does matter
And for me the wide range of items missing dimensions was/is holding me back
to turn on Instant Checkout. Sending an order as letter to the US is way cheaper
then sending it as parcel (1.55 vs 25.50), so that is not something you just
'eat' as seller.

Russel,
Thanks for the info and congrats to the team for implementing this.
It would be nice if you could easily filter the results.
I took a look and have 1566 lots that have no (or complete) dimensions.
What I also see is that there are many the same kind of items without dimensions.
So a lot of torsos (without arms, 973*), but I also see a lot of stickered items,
for example I have 73 1x4 tiles (2431*) with stickers that have no dimensions,
why don't those stickered items inherent there dimensions from the unstickered
'parent'.
A sticker (or print) will not make the peace larger, yes the sticker will ad
a very small dimension increase, but I don't think anyone is able to measure
that (with normal equipment).

All in all, expect a lot of dimension catalog requests from me in the coming
days

I'm confused about the business model. Obviously, your fees for BL would
be pretty small since you have just removed 99.9% of buyers. Are you using BL
for your inventory system? Cause if so, aren't there better software systems
out there?

Just curious.

Or is it as simple that the store doesn't have onsite payment, hence no shipping

I think the reason I was getting CORS errors was bc I was using HTTP and not
HTTPS. I need to know how to consume the API with PHP though and I'm not
having much luck finding out how. I'm new to OAuth too btw.

Oauth has an official php library: https://oauth.net/code/php/

There used to be an example in a couple languages how to consume the api, but
I can't seem to locate them now since the documentation moved. Basically,
it returns JSON, so a good php JSON library will help with consumption. Just
have to get the Oauth right first. Also, be sure you are using TLS 1.2, since
1.0 and 1.1 have been deprecated by bricklink.

Take a look at https://github.com/blockpartybricks/Bricklink-API-Helper

many missing PDs to be added.

Ehm, on what screen is that?
I think I see that page less than I look at the forum.
So allthough I think it is good to have it there, there also should be a banner
on top the page until you have read the message.

Good progress. The big splash will be when we can search our inventory for pieces

In Catalog, Admin_Russell writes:
We are pleased to announce that a major new feature was deployed to the catalog
today - Packing Dimensions!

We started a Packaging Dimensions Topic in the Forum in the Fall of 2017 so that
members could input dimensions to help Instant Checkout work properly. It was
only supposed to be a temporary solution, and it took a lot of time and dedication
for both contributors and admins to handle each request manually.

Now there is much better way - just input the data like you would any other catalog
data. Notice the upgrade to the Change Item form:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogReq.asp?itemType=P

The first thing, though, that we want to tell you about this new feature is that
it's only a start. This is actually just phase 1 out of 3 phases. We did
it this way so we could get the basic functionality opened up as soon as possible.

This means that the Add Item form does not have Packing Dimensions input fields,
and we haven't touched the seller interface either which still shows millimeters
and only allows the upload of custom dimensions.

We are also a bit behind on the new Help Page:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2510

There are 4 areas we still need to tackle with the Help Page: Minifigures, Gear,
Books, and Catalogs. Those sections will be filled out over the next few days.
If you could please hold off on uploading dimensions for those Item Types until
the Help Pages are finished, it would be appreciated.

As you may have noticed, we changed the name from Packaging Dimensions to Packing
Dimensions. Let us know what you think and of course report any bugs. And there
is no need to post in the Packaging Dimensions Topic any more. We'll keep
it there for a while in case something happens to our new system, but when we
wrap up with phase 3, we will officially decommission that part of the Forum.

All, please note that the dimensions you fill in are CM (not MM), I now see very
large items coming up.
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=87079pb912#T=C&C=110
for example. It is a 2x4 tile, but now has dimensions "Pack. Dim.: 16 x 32 x
3 cm"

2 things I forgot to ask:
1) do I need to provide info for counterparts - which parts are stickered?

No, since you will not be adding those to the catalog you don't have to mention
them.

  2) if I encounter parts in previously unused colors (2x4 tile in coral) do I
submit them prior to submitting the full set inventory?

No, the part is already in the catalog, this new color will be added to the known
color chart after your inventory has been approved.

Thanks,

you won't allow me to buy items from so many sellers I need to because they
aren't paying my taxes. They "don't support orders that ship to Massachusetts".
You are literally screwing up my access to rare parts that are only available
on this site. You are hurting part of this hobby for me. STOP IT! I am only
a buyer and not a seller. I understand you must be going through some growing
pains trying to get all the sellers to pay taxes, but don't take it out on
the buyers. Seriously stop blocking my access to the parts I need. Not allowing
me to ship items to my home from sellers who are willing to ship them to me is
a legitimate reason for me to be pissed. You are forcing me to go buy clone
parts off site when I don't really want to as an immediate direct result
of this action.

If you don't want to pay your sales taxes to the great state of Massachusetts
then I suggest you use your democratic rights to elect legislators who will change
the law.
Or, you could move to a different jurisdiction that doesn't charge sales
tax.

I WANT to pay my taxes. I have no problem with paying my taxes.

The problem is that we (BrickLink) cannot pay those taxes unless the seller chooses
to use an onsite payment method. We cannot force sellers to make this choice,
so it is up to these sellers to open themselves up to the larger market.

This is why some other members in this thread are advising you to contact sellers
you wish to buy from and kindly ask if they would adopt an onsite method. It
is not a lengthy process - it takes just a few minutes for those who already
have an account.

What Bricklink could do is inform all sellers that since mid last year they need
an onsite payment option to sell to (almost all) US buyers.
And inform them that in case of an error when trying to send an invoice they
have to check there template.
The Brexit mail was good although nothing was really said in it, but for the
US tax changes nothing has been communicated, while given all kinds of forum
posts a lot of sellers don't know about it.

Thank You!

I think that what you are looking for is already there, but somewhat hidden.
After selecting the list open the 'All Filters', the last option in there

Also this is Bricklink's help page for understanding studs and brick dimensions.
It makes my head spin: https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=261

You can stop spinning.
First you have to understand that you are mixing up two sets of dimensions.
There are stud dimensions, which are shown on the catalog page, and that won't
change, shipping also has nothing to do with that (although I think somewhere
along they were used to set initial shipping dimensions).

The dimensions you want to see in a 'normal' manner are the actual shipping
dimensions that are used to calculate shipping options. And they are already
in 'normal' standards, namely, as Wildchicken pointed out, in mm and
grams.
You can change those dimensions in your own inventory, that way they count only
for you. You could also make a post in the Packaging Dimension topic to let an
admin set the dimensions for the whole of Bricklink.

You can't however set them through the change item form (yet?).

when shipping is outlandish

It allready exist.

You can filter stores which has instant checkout (lightning bolt).

Some stores don't want it.

You don't need IC to show the potential buyer what the total cost likely
will be.
In my store (currently closed) buyers get to see the total price when in checkout,
just the same as with IC.
I don't have IC because there are a lot of variables that can screw the IC.

As for the OPS request, this isn't going to happen as it is now.

When you are in a store and filter by items on your wanted list the auto-fill
[min | max] option appears. However, it seems as both of these options are useless
in their current state and a different option would be useful.

auto-fill max automatically adds all pieces a seller has available to your cart.
If you want 1 and the seller has 14,000 you get 14,000 added. I'm not sure
how that is useful. You have to manually adjust every lot to the correct qty.

The max is good when you have a wanted list of items you want to get in high
qtys, so whenever you find a store with good prices, you can open that WL and
click max.

auto-fill min automatically selects the number you have set in your wanted list
but ignores price, so if a seller has a $.01 piece listed for $400 you get that
in your cart. You again have to manually adjust every lot.

Yeah, it would be great if the max price would do something when auto-filling
min

A much more useful feature would be an autofill like the autofill min that fills
in the correct qty, but one that also accounts for the max price that you have
set in your wanted list and does not add pieces to your cart that are more than
you want to pay.

Maybe an extra filter option would do the trick
"Hide Items if Price is ≥ Max price"
That way you you could see only the items you want from the store and use the
min/max options as they are.

cool if the you didn't press save on the shipping costs . . . . or you forgot
if you are a seller that the system would have a nag page to say: "Are you sure
that you want to proceed with an order with zero shipping, and all you have to
do is say yes to proceed instead of either eating shipping costs on quotes, or
having to look unprofessional in front of customers asking for shipping fees.

Why is it unprofessional to send an invoice and demand payment for the financial
liability the buyer agreed to? I might be misunderstanding your suggestion. You
do know obviously that there are three different final buttons, depending on
your store setup? In your case as a non-IC store, the final button specifically
says the seller will send an invoice. I cannot see as you do not ship to me (and
I will not change my address), but do you have the quote function actually enabled
as well?

And last but not least - have someone in Canada check for you which shipping
option BL automatically picks for a buyer. It might very well be that one of
your pickup options are chosen for buyers and they just click through. There
are very experienced return buyers in my store who still click through with the
incorrect default shipping method BL chooses for them.

I think he means that a seller should get a warning when sending an invoice when
the shiping cost is set at 0.
Maybe a few to many have gone out without entering the correct shipping cost

list in a wanted list and want to start buying the parts for them.
Now clicking on buy all I can scroll down and find my shop so I can see what
parts I have in stock, I can't buy from myself for obvious reasons.
Is there anyway we can pick parts from a wanted list and click on remove from
inventory or something like that so we can pick the parts we have in stock
and get them removed from the inventory.
It's very long winded pulling up the wanted list, pulling up the inventory
and manually deleting the parts that you need. It helps to have a twin screen
setup on a desktop but trying to do it on one screen would be a pain.

You can search your inventory for parts on your wanted lists, but I don't
think you can search for parts on one specific list. If you got to your store
inventory, on the right, make sure you have expanded the "search my inventory"
options and select the check box for "Items on My wanted List".

The other down side is that it doesn't tell you what list it is on, so if
you have multiples, it's a pain.

Hopefully there is something better, but this is all I'm aware of at this
point.

There is no easy build-in solution.
What we do in such a case is that I give the wanted list to my wife (download
it and upload it in her account) and then she buys the items from our store
That way we can pull the items as normal and the inventory stays op to date.
We don't mind paying the BL fee on this transaction, small price to pay for
something that otherwise would be very time consuming.
Although we still would like to a BL function to do it from your own store with
you store account.

For instance setting all shipped orders to shipped in one go would be very nice.
