Sure. But it is a "behind-the-scenes" thing. So if you want to contribute, contact

From my own collection that was bought new and never mixed with any other sets. 3794 was added as an alternate to 3794b originally, which would have been the jumper without groove. Therefore, I am changing that undetermined entry to 3794a even though I have 3794b. Then, I am fixing the Match IDs.

Thanks!
I've been wondering, and please don't take this as any kind of criticism
of how our catalog is being run, but why aren't sets inventoried here faster?
Are we still depending on users to inventory the sets? With Lego owning Bricklink,
I thought the inventory lists would be updated almost at release, either by
Lego supplying a part list, or supplying actual sets for verification.
-jed
|
Hi Jed!
No offense taken. These are just some of the reasons why inventories here have
to be done by individuals:
- LEGO does not include sticker sheets in their data.
- LEGO does not include defined minifigure assemblies in their data.
- LEGO does not include information about extra parts in their data.
- LEGO does not care about what part variants are really in the set.
- LEGO does not name or categorize new parts how BrickLink does.
- LEGO does not name new patterned parts in any way.
And there are more.
BrickLink prides itself on having the most accurate inventories possible, and
that will always include actual users doing inventories. There are some things
we are trying to do behind the scenes to speed up the process, but those are
in the works.
Cheers,
Randy

In that listing, the cone definitely looks orange and the fence looks yellow.
|
This set may have been updated from earlier colors (medium orange cone and bright
light orange fence) to later colors (orange and yellow) if it was produced for
a couple of years.
|
That is highly unlikely. Bright Light Orange replaced Medium Orange and there’s
no evidence that this cone ever appeared in the older color. The mold was first
used in 2004, which is after the color change. These parts are definitely just
current colors.
|
If current colors, then I would highly expect a yellow fence and nothing else.
|
Also if that fence is the same material as this part:
Then indeed could be yellow but a bit darker that seems Bright Light Orange,
the tone happens in a few other similar material parts.
|
That's exactly what I was thinking, Sergio. That's why I just ordered
a sealed one of these to be here in a week or so. Then we'll see for sure.

So yes, there are two colours and two PCC, but in BrickLink they are both Pearl

If we keep making exceptions when two silver colours are known in the catalog,
then we will never be able to untangle this mess. If we do move the part, the

Comments from Submitter:
The minifigure in this set should have a clip on the back. The correct minifigure was added to the catalog, and this will correct the set inventory.

I just built this set, and there is only one extra pin. Three would be a bit much for this small-sized set. I think the original submitter missed a pair of them in the build somewhere.

This and 4345 are incredibly difficult to come by. I hope that the latter contains
parts in TLG 137 Medium Orange, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they were just
Orange. However, the fact that four of these sets have parts in ‘Medium’ colors
is a good sign. Are these cards softer than typical ABS parts?

As far as I can tell, the cards are ABS.

I'm curious if TLG switched colors when using the same printing.

It seems to be, but I want to be sure before switching the color. I need to see

I didn't ask for an image, but both sellers I asked confirm that the back
is white.
Seller who has both:

If its only the underside of the top plate with any differences I think its sufficient
to add a note to the catalog entry and your image for reference. Neither set
these are used in relies on the different design during the build.
Thanks,

Sorry for letting you wait so long. I had to find this item again - and now I

The support beam has the same size and shape, also the cross supports inside

Andrew (Broxy's Bricks)
|
The reason it was updated was because all sprued parts were updated.
All sprued parts were rid of their assembly constants for a few reasons: (1)
to actually make the part connections between LEGO data and BrickLink data more
in sync; (2) to make them easier to find when searching from other sources; (3)
they are not true assemblies (they are actually one molded part and not an assembly
of parts which are *built* from other base parts); and (4) to sync up with how
multipacks and plastic sheets are handled and/or will be handled in the catalog
(which is by just the design number and no assembly constants).
For example,
etc.
All of these had assembly constants, but now they don't. However, all of
the subparts of these sprued parts have for a very long time gone by subpart
numbers ending in 'a', and 4073 was a lone holdout for a very long time
because it was the most forward facing part. Now it has finally been standardized
with all of the other sprued parts.
Also, if you look at a larger sprue or a multipack, you will see the subparts
of those entries use letter suffixes:
or
I know that the change to this one part is the most obvious, but there is a lot
to be gained by standardizing all sprued parts with each other and with how other
things are handled in the catalog. It will take a little time to get used to,
but it will not take long before it is part of everyone's knowledge.
I hope that this message goes a ways towards explaining the rationale. Please
let me know if you have any other questions.
Cheers,
Randy

Use a soft bristled toothbrush that has _all_ bristles in a slightly warm, soapy

off quickly. Then leave the parts to air dry. That should easily do the trick.

Thank you! I will submit the change requests... I wish we know who BLUSER_65485

For what it's worth, that was my assumption as well concerning the yellow
sword in that set.

I can't take better pics until tomorrow but here's what I got:

I will open tomorrow to confirm, but both the king and the purple knight are
holding a sword that matches this one here in the middle. Copper and Pearl Gold
scimitar included for comparison. There is obviously no Yellow sword in my set.
Jen

Hi Jen,
Great you found it. Are you sure you want to open it?
If both the king and purple knight have indeed the same color sword (hard to
tell by the set image), looking at the comparison image I would say it's
reddish gold.
Imo you have
- 1 black
- 1 flat dark gold
- 1 metal blue
- 2 reddish gold
- 1 pearl light gray (pre 2010 silver)
But let's see what our color experts have to say.

Sounds right to me, Diana.

That exact number was not on any of the boxes.
There was an interesting find through, 3 of the 10 did not have this 118789 number

'4291790' is the set's ID. The 4563665 on the box flap suggests that
these are all the 2011 edition of this '2006' set. That is, if that 4563665
number means anything. I find it highly unlikely that a number reminiscent of
an item ID would be on a box flap for no reason. These may be from 2011.
|
That is the item number for the set box.
|
Why would they be so far apart though? Could it be that later versions had a
box ID added?
|
Something else on the box changed over the time period. The set still had the
same item number, but something about the box was different. It could have had
a small change to the graphics, different material supplier, different cardboard
weight, etc. Whatever the reason, it was considered significant enough to have
a unique SAP number assigned to it.

like the new Hippo Baby. Did you copy this image from Brickset and is there a

Or do/did you have the Hippo Baby yourself? In that case: do you know if the

Hi Diana!
I do not have this hippo baby. When I added that image, I was probably a newbie
around here. I am sure I didn't even know about variants or anything like
that. The image would have been directly from LEGO or Brickset. I can tell it
is a very old image of mine because it is at 80 x 60 pixel resolution. I have
not submitted images in that size for many, many, many years.

here.
Most silver IDs from 4275XXX-4299XXX belong to Cool Silver pieces, but because
this color doesn’t have its own BL color, there isn’t anything to separate them
in inventories. The solution appears to be putting Cool Silver IDs under Flat
Silver, but the color is much lighter than both Pearl Light Gray and Flat Silver.
Some sellers tend to approach this issue by selling Cool Silver parts under ‘Pearl
Very Light Gray’, but that’s a whole separate color in its own right. The issue
is that putting Cool Silver parts under ‘Flat Silver’ when it is far lighter
than that, then creates a problem between Pearl Light Gray and Flat Silver.
“I have 2 sets with different Silver parts. Set A has lighter silver pieces (296
Cool Silver) so they must be Pearl Light Gray. Set B has darker Silver (131 Silver)
parts, so they should be Flat Silver.”
|
Do you mean you have 2 sets 8701?
|
I’m not really sure how to approach this, but the reasoning above may be how
these sets were inventoried.
|
Thanks for this very clear info.
It is a big problem though.
1. Sets are inventoried
2. Sellers Part out
3. Sellers list Flat Silver Swords that are actually even lighter then Pearl
Light Gray
4. Buyer has a Cool Silver, but wants a Flat Silver, because that is what the
inventory says
5. Buyer blames Seller, because he received the color he already had, nót Flat
Silver
etc. etc.
Strange though that the Axe Head WAS changed to Pearl Light Gray.
|
The most likely eventual plan is that the only color that will be Flat Silver
on BrickLink will be LEGO Silver Metallic (the "new" Flat Silver post 2010).
Everything before that will be assigned to Pearl Light Gray, whether it is LEGO
Silver or LEGO Cool Silver. So any changes of silvers in sets pre-2010 that get
rid of Flat Silver are okay in my mind.

parts are organized by category. When I get to the engine part I have to go all
the way back to Aircraft bin to go find that part.
Am I crazy or would it make sense to change this to make it consistent?
|
Category descriptions used in titles are used the way they are for ease of use.
In some categories where there is only one item type, it makes sense to have
them for findability and sorting purposes (such as Bricks, Plates, and Wedges).
However, we don't need to say "Animal, Land" in front of every land animal
because it is not necessary and the category contains many types of items. In
other words, a cat is a cat, and a dog is a dog. That is what people are going
to search for and adding "Animal, Land" to the description is considered clutter.
In the case of the engines in the "Aircraft" category, there are many different
types of items in that category, so the category descriptor is not used. Many
of the engines are also used for other things besides aircraft engines, so having
them in "Aircraft" may not be the best place for them. But for now, they are
fine where they are.

That is a manufacturing code. The first two numbers '52' means it was
made in the 52nd week of a certain year. The last number '6' gives us
the year (2006). This makes sense because the set it comes in is a late 2006
set (4895-1). The fourth digit is a code used for place of manufacture. Another
way to know that this isn't a part number is because it is not molded into
the part like the copyright text. It is heat melted into the part. The real part
number for that gray section is probably inside the part.
Cheers,
Randy
|
Sorry Randy but you are wrong here.
5226 is the part number for the bottom part.
Have a nice day.
|
Since I didn't have one of these, I went ahead and bought one that wasn't
working to tear it apart. You may be interested in the results.
Design Numbers ("Part Numbers") identified:
47151 - milky white front side of gear train housing
47152 - milky white back side of gear train housing
47153 - black top conducting plate
47154 - trans-clear motor housing top
47156 - dark gray motor housing bottom
All other parts in the motor do not have anything on them, but I suspect that
the small dark gray part between the gear train housing and motor housing is
47155.
The Design Number for the motor housing bottom was inside the part as I had originally
stated. On the outside of this motor housing bottom is melted the number 1323.
Once again, this is a manufacturing code. It was made in the 13th week of 2003
which makes perfect sense for the dark gray motor housing copyrighted in 2002
and released in sets in 2003. The '2' in the manufacturing code on this
motor is the same '2' as in the manufacturing code from the OP, so the
motors were most likely all manufactured in the same location.

Randy

And of course there are plenty of other head base parts that are used for other

The first one is also a named character.

I feel that the Minifigure head part, no matter what is printed or not printed
on it, should remain in the minifig head category for ease of locating it. I
also feel that the square modified Minecraft head should remain in head modified
for the same reason. It is almost impossible in some cases to tell whether the
printing is for a “person” or an animal or just a decorative pattern.
|
I agree and therefore parts should be categorized by their design otherwise you
create wider issues where parts like this printed brick also may end up needing
to be moved being its a cat animal character?
However to me its still just essentially a 1x3 decorated brick! just like those
heads with pineapple and fish are still just heads and so if you really still
felt the need to separate them all the heads would need to have sub categories
something like this...
MINIFIGURE HEAD:-
Plain
Decorated
For Minifigure
But if tags are coming it may not even matter too much whether all these heads
remain bundled in the same category and therefore on the same token those minecraft
heads would be better left together with the other minecraft heads rather than
creating confusion by moving them

A good question, and I will lay out the rationale below.
This is a part:
These are minifigures:
etc.
Just because a base item is in one area of the catalog (in this case, "Part")
does not mean that all other items that use that base item should be in the same
section of the catalog (in this case, "Minifigure").
In the above two cases that are to be moved, the items are Minecraft mobs, and
all Minecraft mobs that are animals/creatures are located in the Animal categories.
They are not used as heads for minifigures, so it does not reason to have them
located there. They will still be related to their base part through their item
numbers just as the microfigures above are.
Cheers,
Randy
|
I can see the reasoning behind the decorated microfigures being minifigures,
and I semi-see your point, but to me sometimes convenience should overrule technicality.
If I find one of these, my first look is most likely going to be straight in
the head, modified category since I will identify that shape right away as being
the minecraft head. However, unless I am very familiar with Minecraft (which
neither I nor our sorters are), I will never think to look over in animal at
all.
This is where tags or the ability to have the same piece in multiple categories
would be really nice, and until one of these features might exist, I think we
should keep the catalog as simple as possible to avoid unnecessary confusion;
with one of the ways keeping similar pieces together and not spread out. This
is also why I'm against the statuettes being split between parts and figures;
makes sorting very confusing (does this particular one go in our utensil bin
or complete minifigure bin?)
These two items are found in a minority of sets, while the steve/alex/skeleton
versions can be found in basically any minecraft set. Because of this, most users
are going to identify this particular piece as a head and find it very confusing
that two of them are seemingly randomly put into animal.
But this is my simple opinion, and if no one else feels the same, then who am
I to stand in the way of progress.
|
Thanks for your thoughts. At this time, these are just proposals. We had some
users that wanted them moved, but if more come out against them, they will not
be moved. I can see both sides of the argument, and I have to balance the pros
and cons. You obviously bring up some of the biggest cons.
And, yes, this is where tags would be wonderful. The good news is that a tag
system is to finally begin development this year.
| And finally, regardless of what happens in this case, I would like to thank you
Randy, and the other hard-working catalog administrators, for all the work you
guys do. There have been many changes that I do appreciate and I'd rather
have continued progress on the catalog with the odd changes that I disagree with
than no changes at all.
|
Thank you very much for the kind words. We really do try our hardest with what
tools we have available to compromise with as many users as possible. Sometimes
it works in a user's favor, sometimes it doesn't. And we know we won't
ever please everyone. But the idea is to please as many as we can as much as
we can.

This is actually quite surprising. Its element ID suggests that it was available
after TLG 50 Phosphorescent White had been retired, but it looks as if it’s another
case of the 1x1 round plate, in that the part in TLG 294 Phosphorescent Green
has an element ID, but was never released. This may be the only error in this
series of changes and the difference between TLG 50 parts here doesn’t look to
be attributed to the type of plastic used to make the part. 2005 was a transition
year from 50-294, so it appears that this year used parts in both colors.
The Seaweed, Dinosaur Tail, and Marbled GiTD pieces are definitely TLG 294. Many
of those parts appear in sets years after TLG 50 had been retired. The seaweed
piece, at least, looks more opaque than other TLG 294 parts, but most of the
color community agrees that it is due to the plastic used to make the parts.
I do not own dinosaur tails, but my seaweed pieces from 8075 and 853111 definitely
glow greener than my TLG 50 pieces.

|
hm. just finished checking all images on the internet (contents and all box sides)
and the whole instruction
Question:
How reliable is the piece count on the box?
It says 542 interlocking pieces.
Bricklink inventory now shows:
530 pieces, plus 20 for minifigs, makes 550 pcs
8 extra for wheel assemblies?
2 minus for sticker sheets?
Just wondering, if it's reliable and if minifigs were counted as 1 piece
a fig and wheel assemblies as they came in the set, or 3 pieces per assembly.
|
Minifigure torsos and heads were counted as one piece because they came together.
Wheels were counted as they came. Sticker sheets weren't counted.
So there is
530 + 15 for figures = 545
545 - 2 for sticker sheets = 543
And in my experience with some of these older sets,
and
were counted as one part even though they came separate.
543 - 1 = 542
| I experienced a few times, that it matched, but in this case, my count would
be 556/558 pcs.

Looking better we can also see that new piece has on the side the sprue of the

Another difference, being picky, is the shape of the hole. Both has a sort of
squared circle underside (for the clutch power) but in the new mold this "squared"
part continue to the top.
So, I can say that there aren't evident functional difference (maybe more
clutch power in the new one).

I am curious how this process hasn't been almost automated at this time.
I have contributed a couple inventories to the catalog in the past (the largest
of which was the UCS Slave I) and I can definitely attest to the amount of work
that goes into manually doing that. I haven't done one in years just due
to the shear amount of time it takes and I greatly greatly appreciate all the
people that do take the time to inventory these sets.
However, Lego puts the whole inventory list in the form of color part codes in
the back of the instruction books (with the notable exception of the extra parts).
Is it not possible to just enter all those part codes and generate the inventory
list easily? Then all you would need to do it approve new parts/minifigures,
check for alternate parts and variations, and add the extra part info.
Obviously, that's still time consuming but I would think you could do a
set in about an hour or less using that method.
I guess I'm just not sure what people's process is for inventorying anymore.
I would be super happy to help in designing some form of automated inventory
maker if anyone wants/needs it.

The stickers are getting a redesign.
LEGO made the set using the 2022 car, but with the 2021 sponsors. So there are

I would assume it would get a -2 entry only if there were major changes to the

The new stickers would be added as a counterpart.
That being said, the original would be rare and drive up the price affecting
