93 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 2003
Sets: Star Wars: Star Wars Episode 4/5/6

When I pulled it from inventory, something about the sound coming from the box
bothered me. All 3 copies I have are sealed (i.e. glued shut). The weights I
found are ...

240.61 gms

206.09 gms

205.81 gms

That is a rather large discrepancy between the first one and the other two. The
one in the middle shows distinct signs that the factory injected too much adhesive.
No obvious signs of having been opened and resealed. Seems rather odd to me.

A catalogue / leaflet?

A second pair of instructions would be my guess

I don't think it is a real piece.

There are good reasons for a seller to leave feedback *after* the buyer does.

I understand. But in practice, you can always hit the small gray button within
30 days.

I love this. Instant feedback is the mark of an honest seller and/or the confidence
to handle accidents as they come up. It's saying we trust ourselves, or we
trust you. Both are reassuring to the buyer.

The cleverclog stores prefer to leave mass feedback at the end of the month.

store and changing jobs it's now evident that something has to give.

I've decided that my store will remain closed indefinitely, almost certainly
until 2022, anything outstanding will be shipped and one order on hold will be
invoiced and shipped when requested by buyer.

If I understand correctly, I have to be active in my store from time to time
to prevent my listings from being deleted, please advise if this is correct and/or
whatever else I need to do.

I've closed my store since July 2020 and none of my listings have disappeared.
But it was only open for short periods of time, for visits, since the max buy
was crazy high.

I'll still be active on the forum and may still purchase anything of interest
that may turn up.

Hope to add large number of items when I reopen.

Packing unlisted stock into moving boxes, can't believe how many I've
used and nowhere near finished.

Here's to a more settled 2022 and finally a less stressful job, cheers everyone.

We use part-ID system for Technic pieces. For everything else it is a different
address system, completely unrelated neither to colour nor to part ID. For one
- makes space management easier when your space is limited. Also makes it relatively
easy to track down inventory errors when they happen.

Hate to be a bother, but can you tell me more about your separate address system?

Do not waste time in parting out just one or two copies of a set. Not a perfect
example but imagine that you would go to shop 15 times back and forth buying
a single apple at a time instead of buying 1kg at once.

Might sound like a huge amount but in my eyes - anything less than 100kg of USED
parts is not worth the time either. 100kg is the absolute minimum - aim for much
more. Amass a larger quantity of parts before your sort / price / list. Same
1kg apple analogy but with used parts think that you need 1kg of pistachios instead
of apples.

Parting out huge sets may seem appealing but if you are working with a limited
budget - I would avoid it. Yes you will get some rarer in-demand parts to sell
but, generally speaking, it is not good enough of a payout. $1000 spent on three
large sets will take you an insanely larger amount of time spent per lot, compared
to parting out 20 copies of $50 set.

Thanks for sharing your insights!

Use brickstock/brickstore. I can not imagine doing anything bricklink without
it.

DO NOT auto-price *anything*. Price every single part according to supply / demand.

These are the basics of the basics. Many people are running their stores and
losing money without realizing. Assuming your acceptable hourly rate on working
on your store is not $0/hr...

Less popular and harder to sell parts - I would actually list them first. If
you list the easygoing parts first - that is the only thing your buyers will
take. List the best parts last - it will increase the chances of your customers
picking up some stuff that sells poorly in addition to buying the parts that
made them to visit your store in the first place.

D'oh!

I did a little digging and you could actually save a couple bucks by ordering
from Canada. Good luck with your color vignette and I hope somebody sees this
and gives you a better offer!

all things building bricks ( Ontario, Canada )
$18.92 USD + $11.50 (Could be CAD?) = $30.42

Doyle Replay Toys ( Virginia, USA )
$28.23 USD + USPS First Class Shipping = about $32

  hi,
I am a small fish, but no shame in my game, i dont have the $$ fancy floor to
ceiling shelf systems like you see on you tube. I have all my working stock in
the dining room.

I do use smaller plastic organizer boxes ( from harbor freight)and large plastic
drawers. I find at yard sales or walmart, and use zippy bags in the large drawers.the
large amounts of primary color brick i kee in shelves in the garage, it gets
to cold ot there so keep the "good stuff" inside in the dining room. heat...
yes!!!

I use a short shop stool on wheels so I can scoot around the room (hard wood
floor) and go to the drawers and cases I need to go to.

I store my inventory first by parts, all the same part gets put in the same container
no matter what color. When i get to overflowing on that container I take out
the color of that part that I have the most of and start a second container of
just that part and just that color that I have the most of, I keep both containers
next to each other..

for mailers, i use the 8.5 by 11 padded envelopes and cut them in halves
or quarters as I mostly have small orders that fit inside the cut quarter size
portion of the envelopes. I also reuse the mailers from the parts that I order,
to mail out other orders. i go through at least one container a day to recheck
my inventory numbers and make sure no stray other parts got in the container

That's a Pro to storing by color; the stray parts are easy to find.

, i stack the like parts together to conserve space in my storage containers.

I have an inbox for "to be pulled orders", and another box next to my ship station
( printer, tape and sizzors }for the outgoing orders. good luck with your business!

Thank you wendybrowne! A small fish, maybe, but you know your pond better than
most!

What is your BrickLink rule of thumb to organizing inventory and pulling orders?

Condition / Category / Size / Color

I pull orders alphabetically by Item Name since that mostly aligns with Categories.

Taking notes

I've heard that sorting by parts not color is a good one. Another is cutting/taping
your own boxes to save on shipping.

This takes a lot of time. If I sold a lot of sets, it might be worth it, but
I mostly sell parts and ship small orders.

Yeah. It's just something to keep in the toolbox. Will use bubble mailers
for most orders.

And a lot of pros and cons to setting a minimum price/lots.

You need a minimum unless you are just trying to raise your feedback. Otherwise,
you will be losing money on itty bitty orders. Buyers hate lot limits. Don't
use them unless you have to.

Noted! Sounds like good advice.

My sub-query would be; are there any slow sellers that you
leave in the odd parts bin, or push to the end of the queue (of listing parts)?

Wheels, Tires, Wedges, Windscreens. Hate 'em.

Lastly, is BrickStock worth it or is Rebrickable a nice alternative?

Never tried either one. Shrug.

Thanks,
cycbuild

Good luck!
Jen

I imagine I'm not the only one to be aware of this grammar mistake. When
searching a store's inventory, there's a drop-down menu that says "All
Filters." Once it's been expanded, it can be minimized by clicking "Less
Filters."

Properly, in English grammar, when there is a countable noun, we do not use the
quantitative adjective "less". That's flat-out wrong. We must say "fewer".

We can say "less milk," but not "less cookies." We must say "fewer cookies."

I wish that this site would use less cookies.

So here, English grammar demands that we say "Fewer Filters."

I do think that correcting this error will enhance the site's professionalism.

Perhaps they'll change it to say "Necessary Filters"

the same with new, works for me.

Only manually add used stock and odd new items, most new by auto part out, reuse
larger boxes for shipping but I buy new large letter boxes in two sizes.

Had to add minimum order value due to far too many low value orders that I was
losing money on.

I'm worried of that as well. But hey maybe it'll rope in repeat customers!

I add everything, who knows what might bring a buyer to my store.

plan for more or less bins.

Sure, I'll keep that in mind. Longterm sellers have mentioned they often
overhaul their process every time their shop expands significantly.

  - I reuse the shipping material that people send me through my orders, but I'm
receiving less order than I'm placing so it isn't reliable.
- I don't set a minimum cart total because my shop is tiny.
- BrickStock hasn't been updated lately, but BrickStore is a fork of it and
undergoing development.
- I use Rebrickable to inventory my personal collection, but not for the parts
I sell. I recommend BrickStore instead that has a better integration with BrickLink's
selling side.

Nostalgia!

BrickLink's the easiest bracket of upselling to fall into, as a buyer. To
the average tinkerer, it offers readily available off-production parts, newly
released parts, and/or specific parts. And minimal surplus parts.

Hey, so I was wondering why BrickLink lists the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's
Stone items under the "Sorcerer's Stone" name? Even brickset uses the original
title as the subtheme. Just seems kinda odd.

Other countries translated it to Filosofal, Sorciers, Wijzen, etc. But I don't
buy into the English/English language barrier in this case. Sorcerer sounds like
a darker version of Wizard, and not so academic as Philosopher.

Far as the web of sites go, Huw runs Brickset from England, while BrickLink is
quite Ameri-centric. So it's not so odd that Brickset would choose
the original.

(I'd like to think, after her breakout success, JK Rowling grew powerful
enough to overthrow Scholastic's bid at HP & the Toilet of Secrets. )

I have what I think is a clone pilot sw0609. However the helmet has a brighter
yellow marking then I see in the photo...and the other issue is the paint is
only on the center raised portion and above the black mask. It DOES NOT go to
the left and right of the raised center as shown in the picture. I hope I described
it so you can understand. The helmet is marked lego so I know it is authentic.
Did some helmets for this figure come this way?

Maybe this one?
