No it isn't
They've been letting spam accounts run rampant for the past year despite
announcing a "fix" coming "soon"
MrEvil from Ukraine was supposedly the culprit, he's been banned since August
2023, and the spam continues... somehow we're supposed to think they care
about keeping the site safe?
If they can't even deal with simple forum spam, how the hell are we to trust
them with our account security?
"Oh just report it so the forum mods can deal with it"
Yeah, rely on the volunteers instead of paying your security team to come up
with a premanent fix for it... makes total sense
What a goddamn joke
|
First, the site is built on technology from 2000. Until they upgrade the platform
completely, they do as much as possible to lock it down. Hence the Nov 3rd incident.
Two-factor authentication has been available for opt-in if you think you will
benefit from it:
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2615
I'm sure they are handling this as best they can, a rewrite is in progress.
We were told about 6 months ago that it will be a two year job. So hang in and
look for bigger things in the future.

| I was just uploading used parts with printing or stickers. I know people want
them for finishing a bricklinked set. But this category is one I loathe. I
was contemplating removing the stickers and selling the parts because they take
up a lot of space, require a lot of time to list and I don't get very many
orders for them. This gives me an alterative option that I might try with a few
themes.
Sometimes I get a badly placed or incorrect part sticker that needs to be re-applied.
I use a blow-dryer to heat and soften the sticker. Then it comes off with all
of it's stickiness and I can re-apply more accurately or to the correct part.
I have saved stickers to a zip bag exterior and they are in great shape to re-apply.
Thanks,
Donna

| Won't help you now....I switched to PirateShip.com They are free, they import
Paypal orders for addresses using multiple PP accounts, ship using UPS or FedX
without an account from those services, and you can Bulk create labels. They
also have data on your shipping costs, areas shipped to, and lots more.
The best thing they do is help you dispute USPS scanners that cause a large fee
because they said you did it wrong. I had one just last week. I submitted the
appeal and I got my money back on Monday! PayPal wasn't unable to do that
when I switched 2yrs ago.
No reason not to try it.

Bricklink only includes what stores charge overall. Paypal used to have this
until Ship Station took over, and they don't have this option. Any suggestions?

I took some time to develop an app to make picking orders easier. The first obvious
advantage is that the order workflow is designed for smartphones (Android only).
The app includes the familiar filtering options found on Bricklink and, at the
end of an order, offers automation features such as automatic feedback, sending
the Drive Thru, changing the order status, and archiving an order.
The app is completely free and open source!
You can download it here:
https://mybrickhub.com/
Additionally, the app is currently in alpha testing on the Play Store:

Feel free to test the app and let me know if you have any suggestions for improvements

The idea is if you can add the 2-step-autothenticator to the site , in a "security"
menu
https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/1066447?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid
to access any site after the login and password , the user has to enter the numbers
that generates the android autothentication on the smarthphone.
I think you have already thought about it !

like $40. Do I have to refund the shipment? I feel for the buyer for sure but
not sure I have to take the hit here. I do have in my shipping terms that if
you don't buy insurance then I am not responsible but maybe that is not true.
Any help would be appreciated.

Just a thought...Is only the legs damaged? Maybe it would be cheaper to offer
to send another pair of legs? Or to refund only for the legs? Maybe the buyer
would work with you on it. If you offer different solutions and apologize for
the problem most buyers can understand what happened and work to get it fixed.

There is a natural slow down in the springtime. We may be on the beginning of
that now. Caused by people going outside to play, instead of inside with LEGO,
Use the time to work on your store, both on the internet and the physical storage

Your original post and the ensuing thread were shared with the entire BrickLink

It is unusual to have that many good ideas shared in one thread and I'm going

| I'm sorry this is so late in coming, life gets in the way sometimes.
The meeting was held on Feb 1, 2023. The usuals were there. Tanja leads the
meeting and she introduced a new Product Manager for Marketplace, Sergio Reyes.
The usual discussion commenced. I found that my microphone was not working and
my attempt to fix it failed.
Tanja announced that I needed to present something important, still my mic was
dead. By the time I was able to call in, the meeting had progressed and I had
little time to add my agenda. I was able to present a few things as the discussion
allowed but not everything was included. I had made a word doc to organize the
input I received from all of you and I was asked to share that via email to everyone.
I did so.
This is my statement to Tanja after the meeting:
What started this was a thread I posted in the forum asking what do sellers
want. You can see the whole conversation here: https://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=333951
The attached text document is a summary of the things that were asked for. I
asked for things that can be changed now, so it would be easier to roll out until
the full new site is live. Obviously there are some things wanted that don't
conform to that ask. I left those things out of the summary.
There was a very important observation I wanted to tell you, but with the difficulty
of my laptop sound I was unable to do so. When we had the meeting in September,
the first one since Steve left, I was surprised to see a Site Technician at the
meeting. As the meeting evolved, I found myself becoming more and more disappointed.
I felt like the progress of the panel's history had gone back to the beginning.
Being told that the progress on the seller tools was scraped just deflated me
completely. I felt that the voice of the technician was all that mattered at
that time and no progress had been made. Then the old site behavior started
again. Live site updates that break things. I'm still trying to find a
way to get through this again.
That was why I made the post for the next meeting. When I heard you say that
I had important info to share at this last meeting, I knew you had seen my post
and I was excited to share. Then my connection was bad and I had no chance to
share it all.
So here is all of it. Some things may be an easy fix (hopefully) while others
need time and dedication to accomplish. I am hopeful this will help get back
on task.
Thanks,
Donna
When I share things with Tanja I know I am being heard. She has done a lot to
make sure our community is being heard. She is a true professional and I appreciate
the way our panel is treated and understood by her. Please give her some "love"
You can view the copy of the document here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/2aft0g0009fxu3y/Things%20sellers%20want.pdf?dl=0
Please note that I didn't share everything that everyone suggested. I asked
for and shared the suggestions that could be done reasonably within the structure
of the current site. Some things I just copied and pasted the exact words.
Thanks to everyone that participated! Let me know if the link doesn't work
Comments are welcome.
