Most of you know that I am on the BrickLink Marketplace Panel group of which
Admin Tanja. We will be meeting next Wed, Feb 1, and I need some seller feedback
to share with the group.

During the last meeting we were told that the plan for seller tools was scraped
because what was being developed did not fit in with the plan for the new site.
(Yes there is a plan to write a new site). Yes, I am MORE than disappointed that
we, once again, are not getting anything new to help us.

So I am wanting your seller input that can get us a few things now, to work with
this site, to hold us over until the new site is done. My recollection is the
next two years.

I have a few pet peeves that I will be sharing, but I want to hear your annoyances.
I know they are many, hit me. I'll do what I can.

Post here or PM me, either way is fine.

Thanks

If sellers received a small credit for approved catalog additions (photos, inventories.
etc.) that would be nice. The credit could be used towards their seller fees,
and the catalog additions would help everyone overall.

I will certainly ask for this, I agree.
Thanks

I'd like to optimize shipping by making it easy for buyers to know and to
encourage them to fill up more product without crossing over into the next price
class. For example, someone orders 1 oz of product, but I can ship for nearly
the same up to 1 pound. Tell the buyer automatically upon order completion how
much they have left, or maybe give them a % off incentive to add more to the
order. Win-win for buyer and seller.

Nice one, but I have this automatically in my invoice, I only need to fill in
the weight left.

But your system would be even better 👍

Thanks for reaching out. While I understand why a new site is necessary, just
the thought of how much we may lose in the process makes me depressed.

Anyway, here are my suggestions:

Fix wording on Onsite payment required 'Seller does not support shipping...'
so people can actually figure out what is going wrong.

Move Request a Quote to the beginning of the transaction, and clean up the misleading
wording on every step of the checkout process.

Clean out the 'Shared Shipping Methods' and stop giving new sellers the
impression that they can just pick one of those outdated methods and have their
shop magically charge the right price for postage.

Fix the permanent 'Completed' Order Status if a seller mistakenly sets
it.

Fix the phantom order/payment issue that's been reported. (I just had one
this week: payment but no order.)

Find a way for us to submit sales tax payments when a buyer can't or won't
use the Onsite payments.

Requested Quotes should trigger the same yellow number notification icon that
messages do so we don't miss them.

Only make site changes during BrickLink office work hours to reduce overnight
and weekend downtime that adversely affects European sellers.

Respond more to issues in the Forum or create a place where members can track
known issues.

Yep! There's more but you only have so much time I would guess.

Thanks,
Jen

These are wonderful suggestions. I haven't been a seller for very long and
have already had to deal with more than half of the issues you have mentioned,
and would have found many of the suggestions you offered almost immediately helpful
if they were implemented.

Thanks for making them easy to understand why they are currently a problem.

- Add a Median price (in addition to the Average) in the Pricing guide, so sellers
who sells at outrageous price don't ^%$*& the price guide.

- Different store's minimum buy prices depending on location.

- Fix the neutral FBs so they don't bring down a store's praise %.

Thanks

I would suggest the opposite of this because neutrals themselves are more often
than not a good indication that the transaction was not perfect besides do we
really want every seller to have the same percentage ratings as to me its already
too easy for everyone to achieve the 99-100% feedback rating?

However I would instead suggest we try to find a way to make it very clear to
buyers that leaving a Neutral indicates that the transaction was okay/acceptable
but could have been better!

Maybe when someones is about to leave a Neutral feedback, a warning confirmation
message could pop up stating something like:-

"You are about to leave the seller a Neutral feedback rating which within
the Bricklink community indicates the transaction was okay but had minor issues
and could have been better. If this reflects how the transaction went please
proceed otherwise consider leaving positive feedback instead?"

I would also suggest a pop up confirmation warning just before someone attempts
to leave a negative too along the lines of:-

"You are about to leave the seller a Negative feedback. Have you tried contacting
the seller to see if they can resolve the issue for you?

It would need to be renamed too. Neutral is not praise.

"Percentage not negative" doesn't have quite the same feeling though.

Here's a few ideas, in order of importance:
1. USA Shipping zones for Instant checkout (connected to the USPS API). This
one is stupidly simple, and should have been implemented 5 years ago now when
Instant Checkout was rolled out (5 years already! Wow!)
2. Part/set sales analytics. If I know what's most popular for me, it helps
me better serve my buyers.
3. Instructions/Boxes check boxes when listing sets. Check a box if the set has
instructions, and that is automatically part of the listing.
This one has two benefits:
Buyers can easily sort for used sets that have the instructions/box (similar
to how we can filter on New/Used condition.
And secondly, instant checkout can factor this in when calculating shipping.
How, you ask?
If the checkbox for if the set includes the Box is not checked, that Instant
Checkout can remove the weight of the LEGO Box (we have that in the set inventory,
after all!) from the total order weight. This helps out both buyers and sellers,
by creating more accurate Instant Checkout invoices.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me!

Thank you! The shipping API is one I had brought up in previous meeting, but
I had planned to bring it up again.

A lot. I want a lot of stuff. I do agree with items others have mentioned to
reduce confusion within the website, but am going to take a different angle here.

I'll try to keep the list short and focus mostly on increasing what Buyers
want cause it falls in line with what sellers want, which is increased sales,
increased traffic, and increased daily excitement putting together Lego orders
for other lovers of Lego. I can't tell you the joy I receive every time someone
visits my store and then the additional joy of seeing an order that I can go
pack up and fulfill.

1) I want buyers to know that BrickLink exists so more of them come here vs going
to Amazon. I don't have the answers on how you advertise but I can't
say I've ever seen any either. Put it this way, there is not 1 person in
my life that I have discussed Lego with that has ever heard of BL prior to me
introducing them to it. We are not talking about a few people, this is hundreds
of friends and family. They all have children, nearly all those children love
building Lego, nearly all those children receive at least 1 Lego set for Xmas/birthdays...
yet none know where to purchase Lego beyond Amazon, Walmart, or Target. What
really hurts though is many of them really dislike the invoice system, see #2
below as they want to shop, checkout and then see their purchase in their mailbox.
They don't want delays in-between.

2) For Domestic Orders as I think this should be possible for every country but
I am not sure entirely - I want every store to be required to have Instant Checkout
for every order cause I am growing tired of seeing the posts about X seller is
now charging this, or personally when I see X seller charging Retail shipping
vs Commercial... every store can keep their terms on costs but each store should
be fully capable of figuring out what works for them to provide instant checkout
with shipping costs built in too at various levels. It isn't difficult to
know our own inventory and know how much shipping would approximately cost for
domestic orders and if a seller gets burned a little, like many of us have, we
learn from it and move on.

3) along with #2 as I don't see that happening, then stores that are 100%
instant checkout from a buyers perspective, should be highlighted for them so
a buyer knows that they can fully checkout and bypass having to wait for invoices
etc... we should be adapting to what buyers want vs buyers having to adapt to
what each seller wants. I want to buy things from other sellers too, but as
an example, am SOOOO tired of being quoted Retail shipping when I know they are
paying commercial. I decline every single quote or request for shipping cost
when I know it is much higher than what I know they would actually be paying
especially when I ship orders every day and have the capacity to look up what
actual shipping would be from Point A to Point B. Some terms specifically say
"retail" which is fine, I just avoid them, but many are not clear enough.

Maybe this list is too strong and maybe too difficult and some sellers would
be turned off by these ideas. I have no doubt that many sellers would dislike
having to implement the above, however, for the betterment of the site, I think
it would do wonders to really help streamline Bricklink to be more what buyers
want to retain them and gain new customers for everyone, and add in a little
advertising and this could really become the 1st place customers go to get their
Lego.

Thanks

(Yes there is a plan to write a new site). Yes, I am MORE than disappointed that
we, once again, are not getting anything new to help us.

So I am wanting your seller input that can get us a few things now, to work with
this site, to hold us over until the new site is done. My recollection is the

I have a few pet peeves that I will be sharing, but I want to hear your annoyances.

I am all for either requiring Instant Checkout or highlighting sellers that do.
Even as a seller, I hate the guesswork when buying, and sometimes the sellers
come back with an out-of their... out of this world shipping price!

I just went to one store and have a classic example of how frustrating using
Non-Instant Checkout would be if I were a buyer.

I have loaded up a cart with 470oz of sets, which is nearly 30 lbs. Yet the
"estimated shipping" charge shows up as $8!

How upset would you be as a buyer when the actual shipping charge of $50+ pops
up when the estimate was $8. You would be upset if it was off more than a $1
and the seller shouldn't even charge anything more than the estimated $8
either.

This is why every store, at least in USA, should be 100% instant check-out.

domestic orders and if a seller gets burned a little, like many of us have, we
learn from it and move on.

I have no doubt that many sellers would dislike
having to implement the above, however, for the betterment of the site, I think
it would do wonders to really help streamline Bricklink to be more what buyers
want to retain them and gain new customers for everyone, and add in a little
advertising and this could really become the 1st place customers go to get their
Lego.

Thanks

I am all for either requiring Instant Checkout or highlighting sellers that do.
Even as a seller, I hate the guesswork when buying, and sometimes the sellers
come back with an out-of their... out of this world shipping price!

except many cant in Canada yet

Why not... no reason.

Tax makes it’s not worth the trouble right now unfortunately

I prefer the manual invoice for my store. Sometimes I have to package orders
that have fragile parts and need the extra ounces for proper packaging or with
a shipping box. If the buyer does not agree with the shipping cost then they
can cancel the order or don't order in the first place. As long as what is
stated in your terms it seems pretty simple. Looking at other websites for their
shipping costs BL seems fair to me.

You can change what each item weighs or change the size or have Instant Checkout
use weight or size and modify all that yourself for each item.

If we all had to abide by the same rules, then buyers wouldn't have to cancel
their orders so all parties would be satisfied.

I know it is possible cause I am 100% Instant Checkout and have yet to come across
an order that floored me with how much it cost to ship. If an item would put
shipping parameters out of whack, as in cost too much to ship for how much I
could sell it for, I just don't add it to my shop, or if I do, put it at
a price that I'm satisfied at if it is purchased knowing it will cost more
to ship it.

I understand that but I'm telling you that all those parameters can be modified.
Many sellers do not know the control they may actually have in setting up their
shops. I know I'm still learning and I've been doing this for years.

Also, It is AWESOME not having to do the following:

1) send an invoice
2) figure out shipping cost
3) waiting for payment

It allows orders to be placed one minute, packed the next, and shipped immediately.
All that time saved not having to do multiple steps in between is worth the
nickels or dimes I might be paying extra to ship something and then there are
always orders that are large and only have to go to Zone 1 or 2, so the shipping
savings there offets the shipping costs across the country.

I can't emphasize it enough on how wonderful Instant Checkout is.

This may work in USA with the way shipping costs are determined by USPS.
It is impossible for Canadian sellers to enable instant check-out, except for
simple cases: mailers up to 400gr.
But mailers work for low value orders shipping inside Canada. Shipping costs
outside Canada are calculated in a very complicated way.
On top of that, there is fuel surcharge that adds up to shipping a parcel (in
Canada or internation) and this changes frequently.

I also ship with ChitChats. I DO NOT HAVE access to hipping tables of ChitChats.
I can just get quotes if I have an address, size and weight of order. So it is
impossible to set up shipping costs with ChitChats.

There is a reason only few Canadian sellers enabled instant check-out and those
who did, have set it up in a very limited way.

Does Canada Post or Chit Chats have an API? If so, one could write a program
that, given an address, size, and weight of an order, generates a shipping quote.

Its called Price Quote. Enable it and it makes life much easier.

if Admin would allow Sellers to make Price Quote compulsory (as an option) it
would save Sellers a lot of Buyers who won't pay having committed to an Order.

There are many reason why sellers prefer to manual invoice (Something I've
gone over here many times before) and it goes far beyond any concern I might
have about charging the correct shipping!

All the points you have made about why you don't like manual invoice are
fixable without the need to completely remove the option and force everyone to
use instant checkout!

For starters if Bricklink made it so that instant checkout was the only way to
place an actual order with all manual orders becoming a quote instead that would
mean the buyer is not committed to ordering anything and after being invoiced
with shipping the buyer can freely choose to accept or decline the quote!

Also to ensure buyers are not kept waiting for a manual invoice bricklink could
make it so that the stock that the buyer is requesting is held for as long as
it takes for the seller to reply/invoice the quote. Since most sellers won't
like their stock being held up like this it will ensure quotes are responded
to promptly but if they are still not dealt with in good time BL could allow
buyers to submit NRS (Non Responsive Seller) complaints after a certain amount
of time without a response to their quote!

I have no doubt that many sellers would dislike
having to implement the above, however, for the betterment of the site, I think
it would do wonders to really help streamline Bricklink to be more what buyers
want to retain them and gain new customers for everyone, and add in a little
advertising and this could really become the 1st place customers go to get their
Lego.

Also to ensure buyers are not kept waiting for a manual invoice bricklink could

of time without a response to their quote!

If instant checkout was required, "manual orders and Quotes" wouldn't
be necessary and every buyer would be committed upon paying at checkout just
like I'm committed when I purchase something from Amazon, Walmart or Target.

Should this not be the intended future and goal of an online business; to operate
like other online businesses that sell similar items?

All I'm getting at is that as a buyer too, it would be wonderful to know
which stores I can shop at, order, and pay all at one time no matter what I purchase
(small vs large, light vs heavy) just like shopping online anywhere else.

I do like your idea that the sellers stock would be tied up until they respond
because seller should be responding at a high rate, however, what occurs when
payment doesn't happen; are we not just back to where we are now when non-paying
buyers don't pay their invoice?

like I'm committed when I purchase something from Amazon, Walmart or Target.

Should this not be the intended future and goal of an online business; to operate
like other online businesses that sell similar items?

But selling thousand of intricate Lego parts is not the same as other businesses
as it requires a lot more attention to detail. Lego can be very easily misplaced
and stock oversights are always possible when you sell across multiple platforms
and I don't think its a good idea to be taking a buyers money unless you
are 100% sure you can supply everything they've paid for. That doesn't
mean stock oversights are common but even once is too many!

All I'm getting at is that as a buyer too, it would be wonderful to know
which stores I can shop at, order, and pay all at one time no matter what I purchase
(small vs large, light vs heavy) just like shopping online anywhere else.

I do like your idea that the sellers stock would be tied up until they respond
because seller should be responding at a high rate,

Exactly if the seller doesn't respond to quotes or takes too long to respond
to quotes that is just a waste of peoples time and Bricklink could penalize accordingly

however, what occurs when payment doesn't happen; are we not just back to where we are now when non-paying buyers don't pay their invoice?

Well if non instant checkout orders are deemed as quotes as I'm suggesting
this will mean
there is no commitment for the buyer to pay for anything therefore from your
perspective I would think this makes it a win, win situation because a seller
would no longer have a hold over you when it comes to charging what they like
in shipping and fees and if those sellers don't like the idea of these quotes
not being a guaranteed order then for them that will be the drawback of not opting
in to instant checkout and perhaps more will switch to instant checkout because
of this which is what you want anyway right?

Myself and I'm sure many other sellers are quite happy to quote buyers even
though it may not result in an actual order and if other sellers don't like
that, that would be their own fault for not opting in to Instant checkout!

I would love to switch on instant checkout, but there are currently almost 10k
parts without packing dimensions in the catalog. So Bricklink need to fix that
?x?x? dimensions are counted as zero, and there for always fit into a mailbox
shipment.
For example:

Part No: 67244 Name: Aircraft Fuselage Aft Section Curved Bottom 8 x 16 with 2 Holes
*
67244 Aircraft Fuselage Aft Section Curved Bottom 8 x 16 with 2 Holes
Parts: Aircraft {Blue}

Or they need to put something in place that parts/sets/boxes/gear without packing
dimensions can be set (globaly) by the user as no auto checkout.

Also I would be great to collect packing dimensions via the API. I that order
we can share our own packing dimensions with BrickLink. We do share our packing
dimensions with BrickLink, but for now it has to count on luck, that we go looking
in Bricklink for a part and finding out it has no packing dimensions in the catalog.

Share with them from me, that they're doing a fine job. To keep it up and
thank you. (I'll be under anesthesia Feb 1st, but will try and send good
thoughts towards you and the group while out)

During the last meeting we were told that the plan for seller tools was scraped
because what was being developed did not fit in with the plan for the new site.
(Yes there is a plan to write a new site). Yes, I am MORE than disappointed that
we, once again, are not getting anything new to help us.

Kinda feel out of touch in reading "MORE than disappointed?" as I'm
not disappointed in the least with BL, nor have I been in some time. But I'm
sure there are as you say, things new that would be helpful, which I look forward
to reading here, when I get the chance.

"I know they are many?" I actually haven't any annoyances, not with
how BL currently operates. Could things be yet better? Of course, as is it with
all things including ourselves. There's always room for improvement.

-Have some fun and thanks.

Amen, I have far too many orphaned lots of parts that should be Zero according

100% plus, but this is considered a "seller tool" and they won't
add it.

They won't add it now and they will not add it in the future. I really don't
know why this is the policy from the LEGO Group and I would like to forward this
question to TLG.

This is really the main thing why BL sucks for sellers. Along with the limited
6 months limit on all data. Really out-of-this-world. No other market place site
has this limitations (ebay, etsy, amazon resellers).

I think we're too kind for Bricklink/TLG in this regard.
As sellers we should demand basic sellers tools and get it ASAP!!! Without
us BL would be nothing.

I don't want to take over the discussion, but I'm just amazed at all
the comments about the promised sellers tool that are ignored beforehand.

By the way: in this thread there was one reply from BL official Russell who reacted
on someone who gave a compliment and thanked him. This says all about the current
policy:
- if you agree with the official BL policy we don't harm you and give you
a like
- if you question the BL policy, prepare for trouble!

I'm amazed at all the comments that agree with these tools being postponed.

What were the seller tools that were scrapped?

I would like to have as many stockrooms as I have wanted lists and I don't
understand why I don't.

I would like to be able to perform operations based on search terms in my remarks.
If I am ready to release for sale everything with the remark "80111",
I'd like to be able to do that. If I had infinite stockrooms, all the things
with that remark would still be in a dedicated stockroom and I could do it, but
I can't have a stockroom for every set that I've parted out, but not
released. I have to go uncheck the stockroom on every single lot and I don't
enjoy it.

Having only three stockrooms is like being limited to three boxes that I have
to put parts into in an orderly fashion that they don't get mixed up.

If there are stockrooms "A", "B" and "C", there is no
reason why stockrooms "D" to "Z" cannot be introduced with relatively
low coding effort.

With more stockrooms, sellers may use
- one for retained lots ("0" quantity)
- one for items that were ordered but have not yet arrived
- one for items that need to be handled (e.g. counted)
- one for items that have disappeared in their storage location, but will hopefully
reappear at some point
- some for items they don't want to or are not allowed to offer yet
- some for sets that are in the process of part-out
etc.

Yes, all of this. I would part every set out to a different stockroom and when
it was sorted I would release it in a couple clicks. Or if it never came and
I eventually had to get a refund, I could delete it with a couple clicks. Sometimes
I really believe I am going to buy something and I need to part out another set,
so I go ahead and move the first partout to stockroom C, because I part out to
stockroom B. Then I lose the auction and have to delete every single lot. Not
so if it stayed in its own stockroom until ready to release.

One thing that I’d love to see is how many views that items get on my store,
and how many are bought for all time. That way I know what my most popular items
are, and if I need to lower the price or not

Also, I think everyone would agree with me, I’d love to see the way that feedback
is measured to change… it’s ridiculous that the first thing buyers see is a 86%
feedback because 2 years ago the seller was in the hospital for a few weeks
or
something like that…

And one more thing, I’d like to see more benefits for the really big sellers.
All we get is a digital brick beside our name and a bill at the beginning of
the month… the sellers are what make Bricklink possible in the first place. They
deserve some sort of appreciation. Catalog contributors deserve appreciation
as well!

That’s all I have to say! 😊 I hope I’m back to selling when the new site gets
launched!
thanks to everyone that makes BL possible! 😊

I'm out of the loop. Could you point me toward this announcement?

I don't mind the idea of merging them so much, but I want all of my Bricklink
data to be preserved. I want to keep the ability to see, for instance, how old
an account is.

Simple -- just fix the 404 error screen at login.

It makes the entire site seem unprofessional and untrustworthy, especially to
new and potential buyers.

I would like to be able to see the remarks (storage location) of parts I already
have in my inventory on the part out screen. That way I don't have to click
through to the inventory page to see where to put it. It makes my wrist hurt
doing all that clicking when I could just be scrolling down the page.

Thanks for reaching out to the community. Some of us have to manually determine
the sales tax we need to collect and it would be great if the "credit"
column on the orders received page could be a different colour/have a border
to better distinguish it from the "add. charge 2" column to its left.
This will help prevent accidental entries of the sales tax amount in the credit
column and should (it seems) be a simple change.

Nobody wants to commit to an 18 year capital investment that will not yield any

It's probably already been said, but here is my 2 cents. I would like 3 things
- first , that neutral feedback over a year old be purged from the system '
2nd. that remarks I put on a part show up when it is sold - I use remarks to
mark a location and it's a huge pain when the part sells and I have to go
hunt for it. 3rd - I would like NPB cases to close after 5 days - it's not
fair you can open 1 in 5 days but have to wait 7 days for it to close. Non paying
buyers on Ebay don't get 12 days to pay for an order and it ties up my inventory
. Seems like it punishes the seller .

thanks for considering.

You can already add remarks to your order settings. Go here https://www.bricklink.com/orderSettings.asp?viewFrom=P
and check the box "Show My Remarks". When you then look at your orders,
the remarks will be there. It's very handy.

we, once again, are not getting anything new to help us.

So I am wanting your seller input that can get us a few things now, to work with
this site, to hold us over until the new site is done. My recollection is the
next two years.

ANALYTICS, ANALYTICS, analytics

Tell us what products customers are looking at, most landed on pages, clicks,
views, all that stuff that would actually help sellers understand what potential
customers are interested in. Basically a full suit of analytics, please.

What were the seller tools that were scrapped?

No point in rehashing them here if there's no chance of them being implemented.

As I'm still a newbie on site and manage all my inventory in BrickStore,
sometimes I'm too confused about the options in the Inventory: just yesterday
I occasionally deleted all the inventory with one remark and one click.

So what I need to have is one of two options:
- First - search (by remarks, set no or anything else), then list of performed
operations, right now it's only available via checkboxes in the main inventory
(or somehow else, I don't know where!)
- Or when I click on any button what to do with it, I first wanna know the list
of items that will be modified

It would be great to revert at least one step before, but I doubtful it's
possible.

Another issue I've got while I'm browsing/searching is that Catalog is
not related to the inventory, and I can ONLY check in the list of prices whether
I have this lot to sell. I just want to know already just under the button Add
to Inventory see the number of items that I already have in my inventory (or,
easier, lots to sell).

Ah, one more thing: under my lot to sell in the catalog page, it would be GREAT
to have a link to edit this lot directly - now the link goes directly to buy
the item, and for me it doesn't help much.

Um, a year or two ago I placed an order that had a missing part and the wrong
part. But that's about it

While that did happen, I really didn't care, it was just some extra stuff

Make the creation & management of shipping methods modular. (In order of importance
to me)
1. Shipping packaging. If I use model a size zero (#0) mailer, I should be
able to enter the packaging limitations (e.g. interior volume) once. Then let
me re-use that package for multiple shipping methods.
2. Pricing by weight. There are 20 USPS First Class International Package zones,
each with 4 tiers of pricing. 80 prices to key in/change if using all zones.
Multiply by the number of different packages I might use for shipping international...
(this is why I only have two at this time).
3. Insurance

USPS API (allowing for commercial rates), UPS API, Fedex, others? -- I
find UPS via endicia/stamps.com is often a better option vs. USPS now days.
Not just for domestic orders.

If the APIs are NOT feasible then pls. provide some sort of feature that will
allow me to approximate domestic shipping zones. e.g. pick a bunch of states
per zone, Beginning digits of zip codes, etc.
expand my use of IC for larger and larger orders.

Show only the one entry per Ship Group on the shipping methods section of the
store terms page.

I would like

1. Any changes are fully tested by a representative group of users in a non live
environment before going live.

2. If any changes or upgrades are made live that should be done when there are
qualified staff online to roll back or fix any resulting problems (i.e not on
an overnight maintenance when staff then vanish for the weekend).

3. I would like a 24/7 follow the sun help desk where issues can be resolved
when the occur not put in someone's in tray.

The above would apply to the introduction of any proposed new site (currently
I have little confidence that would not kill BL). IMO 1-3 would have 10x the
value of a new site.

Might be small, but I'd appreciate the ability to part out just the extra
parts from a set instead of having to add them all individually. Could just be
a little checkbox under Include Original Instructions/ Include Original Box/
Include Extra Parts. Maybe "Include Only Extra Parts"?

Thanks Donna for reaching out to the community.

If orders are payed via Paypal onsite (or another onsite payment methode with
or without taxation) make sure the address from the buyer used in BrickLink matches
the address used with PayPal.

Also start using some kind of standard for addressing. I know there is nothing
official, but for example ISO 19160 for every address in BrickLink/Paypal could
help avoiding mistakes or confusions.

I would like basic step by step instructions on how to implement things like
instantaneous checkout, and make changes to various forms and features in the
store. Also HELP often does not find what is looked for.

I have a small store and do not use ic because when I have looked into it by
making test orders at various stores, the shipping cost is often excessive (or
sometimes too low) as the system does not accurately account for size and weight,
especially with a parted out set with no box. I find weighing and packaging to
be effective and efficient for me. The ic set up system is hard to understand.
Better step by step instructions would help, as would the ability to do a "dry
run" through the steps without being committed. Keeping the invoice option
as a choice would be useful.

There appears to be no way to select countries to ship to while using the old
invoice system. This should be restored as an option. Given covid and the serious
unrest in much of the world being able to avoid certain counties is important.
The confusing regulations in the EU regarding vat and other shipping and cost
matters causes concern. There should at least be an understandable explanation
of these ruled for those of us used to the U.S. rules.

A basic consideration would be to remember that there are small stores on BL
as well as those that support several persons. Their capabilities and resources
vary as does the familiarity with technology.

Thank you, Donna.

We'd like to add a Note field in inventory similar to Remarks not visible
to buyers. You may call it Note, Remark2 or Marker like in BrickStore, or
whatever.

Most of us using Remark for item locations, it would be great to have a place
for other item notes.

As a long time seller, it frustrates me to see the same items selling for 30
to 40% more on Amazon or Ebay. The fact that that Amazon sellers brazenly
profit by using Bricklink sellers to fulfill their orders is indicative of the
poor promotion of the Bricklink site by TLG. Therefore I would like to see two
efforts by Bricklink and TLG.

1. Greater promotion of Bricklink via the massive marketing resources of TLG
to level the playing field with other Lego resellers.

2. Greater promotion of the affiliation with TLG on the web site to improve customer
trust when buying at Bricklink.

Lego probably dosnt want to publicly back a market that they don’t have direct
control over the “employees” as if someone had a bad experience on bricklink
it could make them not trust lego and cause lego to loose money

So maybe this exists in some sort of fashion, but I have posted questions about
this with no answers...
- I love that we have a separate entity for our personal collection, but what
about a way to then add it to our store without having to do each item individually?
Like me, I build something then once I'm over looking at it I'll put
everything in my store to sell, but the one time I djd the collection to store
I was dying a bit on then inside.
If this exists already just reply with "you be dumb."

As far as I am aware, it is not possible to move items directly from your personal
collection to your store inventory. However, you can export your collection as
an XML file, open it in BrickStore, set the prices, and export it from BrickStore
as a BrickLink Mass Upload XML to Clipboard.

You're not dumb, per se; it's just not super obvious.

Most of you know that I am on the BrickLink Marketplace Panel group of which
Admin Tanja. We will be meeting next Wed, Feb 1, and I need some seller feedback
to share with the group.

Here some thoughts, in no specific order of importance.

1) A way to download/upload/update Shipping Methods.
The site makes it a pain to manage them. We've to update them at least once
a year

2) Provide a simple log (one timestamped line per item) of any change
in the site.
By any change, I mean any change which is either on the client side (appearance,
URLs) or a changed, new or removed functionality.

3) Do not allow a Seller to change order status to Received or Completed.
Only the buyer can say if it's actually received or completed.

4) Make a search that's a bit smarter:
Uh oh! We couldn't match "3001 Red" with any items listed
That's stupid
Please also remove the current Search "auto completion" (top center of
BL page) as the results are stupid and misleading.
Ex: type "brick" and it shows "Brick Decorated", "Black"
and "Drink".
But: no "Brick" neither "Brick Modified", "Brick Round",
etc.

5) If possible, make a Catalog with either Tags:
Ex: "Brick" "Modified" "Round"
... or multiple Categories:
Ex: this part could be both in "Brick, Modified" or "Brick, Round".

6) As other said, an history of Lots changes
Even the last 6 or 10 changes would be fine if database space is a problem.

7) Show VAT in all Orders download pages
https://www.bricklink.com/orderExcelFinal.asp
Right now, ONLY the downloaded XML version contains the VAT amount.
The other ones, like the HTML one shows a Tax column with doesn't show the
VAT.

8) Make sure the (PayPal, Stripe) Refund from the Order page WORKS.
As of right now, I have some refunds that weren't actually refunded, or partially,
but with no warning and BL showing the full amount refunded

9) Neutral feedbacks to really count as 0 (or as no feedback).
Even better, a 5 Stars system:

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1328064

10) Discussions, previews, statuses or announcements (at the very least) on what
will be the next BrickLink (in current development, who knows?)
Please make possible Forum or a panel of users to participate, criticize (constructively)
the next version and discuss BEFORE it's publicly on line.

11) Make Orders be available for at least 1 year instead of 6 months as
of right now.
AT LEAST 1 year, but 2 years would be far better, for those late on accounting

In 2023, database/disk space shouldn't be a problem.

12) BrickLink is managing half a million members and should show a 7/24 help
desk.
Yes, even by night or during weekends.
Even using some canned replies for generic questions.
But every ticket should be confirmed and replied quickly.

Have one buyer conglomerate multiple orders at domestic shipping prices, and
then charge me one moderate fee to re-ship those multiple orders to me in one
go instead of paying infinite international ships?

The seller could then write-off all of the multiple ships in their taxes + then
would garnish the fee - which they would then have to charge a tax on. Lol

On a serious note, one thing I would like to see is Bricklink cracking down on
these sellers with hundreds (or thousands) of minifigures from expensive sets,
I've mentioned it a few times here and there, but it still continues on -
especially when these sellers don't have any parts from the sets these minifigs
come in listed in their store inventories, doesn't make sense to buy a $200+
set 60 times just to sell 60 exclusive-to-the-set minifigs for $20 each, if that
makes sense

If there's some sort of thing implemented to verify these minifigures were
acquired legitimately, then that would probably put an end to it, but I really
don't know *how* it would be possible to go about it

I've seen a recent rise of posts on places like Instagram where these accounts
are offering licensed minifigs (mainly Star Wars) in bulk amounts, and these
accounts also sell these transparent/"prototype" minifigs that were recently
banned from being sold on Bricklink due to the illegitimacy of them (not authorized
to be produced by Lego, but still being produced in Lego factories,) so I am
inclined to believe these accounts are the middlemen between Lego factories &
3rd party sellers (like Bricklink, for example)

Bricklink admins most likely have a direct line to the right people within Lego
to get this investigated into, because it 100% stems from within Lego factories/warehouses
themselves - why it still continues despite these sellers being "loud and
proud" with it, I don't know, but it's a serious issue that affects
the marketplace & it should be taken far more seriously than it has been up until
now

only if it could be proven that they were from the Mexico factory.

Sales tax exemptions. This costs me thousands a year.
A significant percent of Bricklink transactions are business to business.

Thanks for posting this Donna.

The one thing I would like to have as a seller is more retained sales data, 13
month is the minimum, 2 years would be ideal, and 7 years would be heaven.

Disk space is cheap.

Good luck tomorrow,
