Most supermarkets in the U.S. will accept plastic bags for recycling—including
resealable baggies (someone correct me if I am wrong).

You also could try to find someone local who will take them, as it's generally
cheaper to buy new ones than to ship them somewhere.

I personally use the plastic bags people send me parts in to put in the parts
I'm sending people, it doesn't completely evens out but it keeps the
invasion in check.

Hi Skullfyre!

1. Yes, especially because I buy a lot of used lots off Offer Up, eBay, etc.
I would recommend anyone selling used to wash and sanitize their items before
selling. Or even if you are buying used and keeping it for a personal collection,
which I also do.

2. No, that is very inconvenient. I wouldn't want my own order to come that
way. Like you said, it makes it more difficult to count and verify.

Best of luck to you and take care!

1 - Do you feel/think sellers should thoroughly clean and sanitize their used
bricks before selling?

Yes, I expect the brick I buy to be clean, and I hand clean all the parts I set,
including from Used sets. It isn't enough for me to switch from Positive
to Neutral feedback on its own, but I do mention it in the message.

Still, dirty parts aren't frequent. It stings every time, but compared to
the volume I bought, it's a minor issue.

2 - Would you ever send a shipment of pieces to a buyer built into a large
flat brick?

I do not because it represents a lot of extra work for me for a negligible shipping
volume gain. I have received a few orders out of the 80 I've placed where
some parts were stacked together with a convenient way to separate them (same
length plates are stacked a stud apart) but I do understand your frustration
with separating 400+ parts.

On the other hand I don't remember an order with stacked parts that was incomplete
on reception, so maybe it's a good way to ensure order completeness?

Could you please let us know what your source is for making these change requests?
(I see you have this set for sale in your store, but it is still sealed. Do you
have a second copy with open box?)

Sorry for omitting that. Yes, this is from a second set bought new around the
same time, and never disassembled until yesterday. I only noticed it when struggling
to remove the blue grille from the bow piece and thought it was strange that
a 1997 set would have this part variation.

Many thanks. There are already a few sets from 1997 in the catalog which still
had 2412a. Looks like 1997 was the last year of the transition period.

Could you also check the string lengh in your set and replace the undetermined
entry with the correct lengh?

1 - Do you feel/think sellers should thoroughly clean and sanitize their used

We sell hundreds of thousands of used pieces. We don't necessarily wash every
single piece but do check for dirt. If we spot any, we try to remove it. If we
can't, it doesn't get listed. The exception being if it's just dusty
(such as large plates) but then we make note of that in the description.

2 - Would you ever send a shipment of pieces to a buyer built into a large
flat brick?

Never. We bag everything that can fit in bags. If someone buys a bunch of 8x16
plates, for example, we stack them, but flip every other piece so they don't
attach to each other.

I agree the sticker sheet part itself can't be sold as New - Incomplete because
there is no Complete/Incomplete distinction for parts and so would have to be
sold as Used, but the set the sticker sheet comes from could be sold as New -
Incomplete with the incomplete sticker sheet.

I do agree that it is a very marginal case because incomplete sticker sheets
are unlikely to come out of new boxes, but in this case the problem wasn't
the distinction between New and Used but between Complete and Incomplete.

In Selling, brasletty writes:
  In Selling, MrPetovan writes:
This is incorrect, you can list an item as New - Incomplete, even and especially
in your case. Take the sticker sheet out of the box, take one sticker, leave
the rest on, put it in a ziploc bag, it's New - Incomplete.

Now if you found this sticker sheet (even complete) anywhere but in the original
box/bag, it should be listed as Used.

In Selling, brasletty writes:
the original item is missing stickers , if a set have 10 stickers and 9 sticker
are applied and 1 sticker is missing the set is incomplete , if you list a sticker
sheet with 10 stickers and one sticker is missing the sticker sheet is no longer
new but used .even though the 9 remaining stickers have not been touched .

you are wrong , (Take the sticker sheet out of the box, take one sticker, leave
the rest on, put it in a ziploc bag) THAT one STICKER or the STICKER SHEET IS USED . if you look to the tos and when an other mamber report your sticker sheet it will be removed from your inventory .

I only clean bricks that are not clean, but I would not sell anything dirty,
and if I could not get an item reasonably clean, I would not list it.

2 - Would you ever send a shipment of pieces to a buyer built into a large

I've stacked used pieces on occasion but I would not build a large flat brick
out of the entire order.

I have had so many problems with USPS this year.

It seems that every few days I get packages that will be scanned once and then
never scanned again and have a Perma banner "Arriving late"

I also have the classic, only scan is the delivery scan. This one is fun because
it looks like I never shipped it.

I normally have them come pick it up because they scan it on acceptance. Oh,
wait not anymore they just toss it into their truck, no scan.

It makes me look bad when packages are in "shipped" mode for weeks on end.

USPS needs to get better or just suspend PES altogether.

Sincerely,

A very annoyed and disgruntled customer of the United States Postal Service

I've seen some delays in letter mail heading north from Florida. One order
by mail to MN, took 25 days before the recipient acknowledged receipt. I am also
having some delays with inbound parcels to Florida, but mostly with FedEx Ground
(who seems to always estimate delivery one day before actual delivery).

If my BL order volume is any indicator, people are (yet again) pressing the Buy
button like an elevator that they have been awaiting for 20 minutes.

WTF Bricklink? I'm getting more and more motivated to start selling on the
owl.

Figured it out, it was missing stickers and thus needed to be listed as incomplete.
Angry, spiteful, and poor feedback seller reported it improperly instead of reporting
the listing for the actual offending reason. Relisted as incomplete.

Now, for another question. How can I report a user abusing the reporting system?

you don`t have to send me prived emails ,you can post it in the forum if you
have something to say.
you listed your item wrong .

but have sold online for a very long time, other products, other sites.

Here are my questions:

1 - Do you feel/think sellers should thoroughly clean and sanitize their used
bricks before selling?

I ask this because I haven't bought a ton here yet but I have now received
three shipments that I would consider filthy and I needed to clean. Quite disgusting
when they stink or have visible grime on them.

2 - Would you ever send a shipment of pieces to a buyer built into a large

I ask this because I had just received a shipment and all 400+ pieces were attached
into large bricks. This then took me around two hours to disassemble to see if
everything I ordered was actually there. In my opinion, this method of shipping
isn't acceptable.

Thanks for the feedback and opinions in advance.

1. We have also received dirty unwashed parts, and had to wash them ourselves
before using them. Personally, we wash pretty much all of our used parts before
adding them to the store. The only exception is if we are parting out a used
set that looks to have been built and put in a bag, to not be played with since,
and not show any signs of dust or wear.

2. No, we bag all of our parts Not put together.

How can I report a user abusing the reporting system?

send a personal email to admin ! admin wil help you further .

So I have questions for all of the sellers here. Firstly I am not a seller here
but have sold online for a very long time, other products, other sites.

2 - Would you ever send a shipment of pieces to a buyer built into a large
flat brick?

I ask this because I had just received a shipment and all 400+ pieces were attached
into large bricks. This then took me around two hours to disassemble to see if
everything I ordered was actually there. In my opinion, this method of shipping
isn't acceptable.

Thanks for the feedback and opinions in advance.

you are wrong , (Take the sticker sheet out of the box, take one sticker, leave

in your store : Lot ID: 224098350 .

question for you and other sellers : how can you open a box remove the inventory
and list the box new when you have used the box for parting out ?

I don't sell just boxes, but I don't see why it wouldn't be new if
all you did was cut the tape and dump the contents out.

if you list the box condition is 7/10 , what is it new or used ? sold today a
used 10211 box in perfect 10/10 condition , i used the box only for parting out
and flated for storage .

It is a new box. I dinged a point for each sides tape being cut and a point
for a very minor crease that was in the box when I received it. I am very conservative
on my estimations. Better to rate it too low and have my customer be pleased
with the results, than to rate it too high and have them disappointed.

I still don't see why this thread has been hijacked to talk about boxes,
when I need to know why a user reported (or maybe it was a competitor since I
was the lowest price in NA) my set to the admin and the admin took zero time
to see that it was not infringing on any IP. AFAIK, the listing complied with
all of the rules for selling. I've not had a problem to date with any of
my listings.

you recieved 313 order , in the link that i post below the seller who recieved
only 4 orders he know how to list his set correctly . https://store.bricklink.com/emzys?p=emzys&itemID=246717746#/shop?o={%22invID%22:%22246717746%22}

OMG, so you did report this, why did you say it was AN IP VIOLATION?

I don`t report your set , all mambers can report you in the link below and admin
wil do the rest , if your set whas listed correctly admin will not remove it.
https://www.bricklink.com/problemInventory.asp .
admin removed last month all my smoking items that lego used to give to the toy
stores years ago .should I be angry with other mambers now?
whay you don`t post the picture and/or discription you used in your listing .

if you sell on brickowl and list your set complete when the set is not complete
they will remove it to .

From the original notice

I have this set with building instruction, but nowhere are the 2 part 3003 blue

the set? I would say only a sealed set could confirm their presence in this set.

Well not in mine. Does this mean they are considered as alternate parts? Note
that they are not mentioned in the instruction text in yours.

Wow this is cool - we just discovered another redesigned set!

Many thanks for noticing that! I will update the inventory accordingly.

I do not. Like I said, until today I had the wanted list search page on the left
screen, and the order I was verifying/sorting on the right. As I went through
the inventory of the package, checking with the order on the right, I would fill
the Have quantity on the left.

Out of my 19 recent orders, there were 4 with missing/broken/wrong mold/wrong
color parts, so I do have to go through that manual process. However, wading
through 20+ wanted lists to find the correct item to fill wasn't fun, and
this feature will filter my wanted list to only the items that could be filled
with the order I'm verifying are shown, cutting the scrolling/paging time.

These 19 orders were generated by the Auto-Select feature in the Wanted List
Buy page, so I had no idea exactly which wanted lists were satisfied by which
orders.

Maybe it's a niche improvement, but it still is an improvement!

Hello lego fans.

New to the forum and would appreciate some advice please.
I have over the years accumulated lots of 12v classic track for a layout I will
soon start building.

Wasn't apparent unit I just cleaned all the track the various degrees of
colour discolouration.
Sleepers are ok, just the rails.

Any recommendations on how I can clean all the track and preserver the original
colour.

Picture of two of the trains and some wagons.

Cheers,
Ed.

or the box per https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=102 and why reported
as an "IP infringement?" Just kills me how lazy the admins are if they can't
even look and see that it is not an infringing item.

I couldn't say why it was done this way - but I do know that the admins will
delete if it falls into some other category.

Just pulled my backup, it has the instructions! I put "instructions included"
in the description. So good guess, but that was not it.

I had that question too, but it seems to be accepted that if the box is not beat

I agree it isn’t 100% convenient but:
- Not all orders are 100% complete
- The “Apply Order Items ro Wanted List” doesn’t remember the items that were
assigned on another wanted list

Both of these factors make any automatic process error-prone, and the feature
I discovered will help with my manual process. On my 16:9 screen, I can have
the order list on one half to check the package contents, and the wanted lists
on the other half.

In Buying, tec writes:

even look and see that it is not an infringing item.

I couldn't say why it was done this way - but I do know that the admins will
delete if it falls into some other category.

That’s why you need to make a “bought” WL for each order: when you search for
the order, each lot has at least one result in the WLs, and that result shows
you how many you bought.

WTF Bricklink? I'm getting more and more motivated to start selling on the
owl.

in your store : Lot ID: 224098350 .

question for you and other sellers : how can you open a box remove the inventory
and list the box new when you have used the box for parting out ?

I don't sell just boxes, but I don't see why it wouldn't be new if
all you did was cut the tape and dump the contents out.

if you list the box condition is 7/10 , what is it new or used ? sold today a
used 10211 box in perfect 10/10 condition , i used the box only for parting out
and flated for storage .

I had that question too, but it seems to be accepted that if the box is not beat
up and just used for parting out, that it is okay to list as new. But the original
item was listed as used/complete.

  Dear BrickLink members,

We are launching a new initiative on BrickLink called the Marketplace Panel,
the initiative aims to achieve an outside-in driven approach to decision making.

In 4 annual Panel sessions, the purpose is to:

- Ensure and improved prioritization of tasks (development, bug fixes, etc.)
within the Marketplace team, in order to reflect the needs in the Seller and
Buyer community as much as possible.

- To investigate opportunities for improvements to the current setup of the Marketplace.

- To pressure test new opportunities, concepts, legislative requirements, etc.

- Build future strategic plans for the Marketplace

To start out with, we have invited 8 Sellers and Buyers, going forward it will
be possible for all to sign up for Panel participation (we will have a limit
of 10 members per year though).

We have great expectations for this initiative and hopefully this is something
that more people will want to take part in going forward.

The first Panel meeting will take place on May 20th. We will be sharing minutes
with all of you after each of the 4 annual meetings.

The BrickLink Team

Dear all,

Thank you for your comments and questions!

To start the Panel and test the concept, we have invited eight people that we
trust to be able to represent the greater Bricklink Seller and Buyer community
in a proactive and constructive manner.
Once the concept is tested and working smoothly, we will be able to bring other
community members on board.

But first we need to get to the first meeting This is something we look very
much forward to!

We will keep you posted in the forum as well as in an upcoming Marketplace newsletter.

Did you try to sell it with a copy of the instructions (rather than the original
instructions)?

No, it was without box or instructions.

Did you mention in the comments that it didn't have instructions? My guess
is that someone chose "IP violation" by mistake and apparently the admins can't
change that (or can't change it easily), so sometimes user complaints are
miscategorized.

Yes, but why would that be reported. We can sell sets as complete without instructions
or the box per https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=102 and why reported
as an "IP infringement?" Just kills me how lazy the admins are if they can't

As long as the order has not been paid for, I think you can simply send a new
invoice including shipping. Make sure to let the customer know to disregard the
old invoice. If the order has already been paid for, then unfortunately I think
you are out of luck.

I used to have to wade through 20+ wanted lists to sort the parts from each received

inadequate beyond a few active wanted lists.

Well not in mine. Does this mean they are considered as alternate parts? Note

Adventurers!

Join the epic quest searching for treasures in the (Fat) Dragon's lair!
Find one of the three hidden magic dragon eggs, and get 50% off your order.

The rules are simple:
I have marked 3 lots in the store with a white dragon egg.
Buying any of them gets you 50% off the whole order placed (and a dragon egg
with flames and such).
I can offer only 1 discount/order. If someone finds more than one egg, the extras
will be assigned to new lots.
The egg hunt will last until midnight this Sunday.

Good luck!

WTF Bricklink? I'm getting more and more motivated to start selling on the
owl.

Did you try to sell it with a copy of the instructions (rather than the original
instructions)?

No, it was without box or instructions.

After nearly 100 orders placed on BrickLink, I finally found a feature I was
missing.

In the My Order Settings :: Orders Placed Column page¹, there is an option
disabled by default named "Items in Order on My Wanted List Icon". This icon
is a shortcut to fill the "Found in Order ID" field of the wanted list search
and allows to manually fill the relevant wanted lists from items found in a specific
order.

I used to have to wade through 20+ wanted lists to sort the parts from each received
order, now it's going to be much easier, especially since the "Add Order
Items to My Wanted List" button on the order page was either broken for me or
inadequate beyond a few active wanted lists.

Hurray!

I assume you meant $6-$6.3 for shipping, which is still abnormally high for domestic
shipping via First Class package up to 13 ounces which you would probably never
reach with a 3 lots limit.

How are you paying for shipping? Paypal offers attractive shipping prices accessible
directly from the transaction itself. From there you could potentially lower
both your shipping fees and some raised eyebrows regarding your business model.

I think that this could be a great program, but considering the diversity of
stores (countries, markets and size) I hope that the people on the panel take
all of that into consideration.

Come on, BrickLink, surely you can compose a more professional-sounding message
than this. I'm a little shocked that this is what my buyers have seen when
I send a manual invoice. I resent this type of message being inserted into MY
invoices without my knowledge especially since it looks like I am the one sending
it. If you're going to insert such an off-putting message into your sellers'
invoices at least own it and let OUR buyers know that we sellers have nothing
to do with it.

e.g.:

****MESSAGE FROM BRICKLINK****
For BrickLink Order #XXXXXXXX, you must pay on site using the PAY NOW button
on the order details page. Any payments made using other methods will result
in an improper transaction because tax is not paid to the state. This message
overrules any other payment instructions mentioned below if any."

I got one auto invoice today and the message is gone, compared to one I received
on the 7th that had it.

Same old, Same old. Give us something without saying anything, Take stuff away
without telling us. The horse is dead and I am tired of it. Maybe this panel
thing will help us get new managers that know how to be professional.

Hi,

Apologies if I have missed something, but really is it my state of mind or is
cancelling an order now difficult? I have had to shut due to Julie having emergency
surgery, but had outstanding orders. One customer has asked us to cancel the
order as they can't wait. I have worked out how to cancel, not straight forward
now, but no idea if it has used the onsite refund as I intended.

I am stressed and not thinking clearly, but in the unfortunate situation that
a cancellation is needed in an emergency, especially with the upcoming issue
with VAT and Brexit this system should be easier to navigate or have obvious
links to follow if you have to shut?

I have just gone onto Paypal and refunded as I do not have time to look into
it any more and have cancelled order, if it is me I will not comment to admin
and make note just in case it is needed in the future, but if it is really difficult
when in a stressful situation to cancel orders made in good faith by understanding
buyers I would like to raise this issue again with admins

OP is definitely making money pretty much exclusively off of fees and shipping.

Good feedback rating so customers don’t seem to mind. Seems unorthodox to me,
but if it works, it works. So good for the OP imo. But if it is used to bypass
BL fees, then this may be problematic in the future for OP.

Thank you for your research. So the profit would be at most a couple dollars
per order given the prices. This hardly covers the time spent since this business
model heavily depends on the order volume rather than selling a few expensive
parts, I personally don't have a problem with that.

And how would this circumvent BL fees? Are they only calculated on part price?

Considering that these orders are only three lots max, you could probably pack
upwards of 15 to 25 of these orders an hour depending how efficient your setup
is. And if the orders are all the same weight bracket then it would be easy
to apply a preset in the PayPal shipping manager and streamline the packing process.
Since there are only 3 lots allowed that probably is guaranteed to have all orders
be less than 4 ounces, which means shipping can cost anywhere from ~$3 to ~$3.50
with the current regional USPS cost setup. Add the $1.25 fee and that is a potential
~$4.25 gross profit on each order, minus the cost of goods, listing fees and
the time spent listing them.

I am not sure if this does or does not circumvent BL fees. I was basing that
assumption from what randyipp stated.

"Guess you just have to deal with it, like Bricklink deals with you making a profit

and bypassing almost all fee collections from your business. "

Sellers use to do this on ebay, selling items for dirt cheap to beat out other
sellers, but then charge absurd shipping fees because ebay only charged a listing
fee for the items. That was ages ago, now ebay charges fees for both and penalizes
absurd shipping prices.

So if what the OP does indeed bypass BL fees then this could end up being problematic
for them. I don't really know if BL does charge their nominal fee on shipping
as well. I should probably know as a seller, but since BL's fees are so
low I don't really care. lol

After Paypal fees, I normally get about $6-$3.3shipping, and everything else
I end up making around $2.5 an order before inventory costs. Inventory costs
do bring that number down a bit though since it is getting harder and harder
to source inventory.

I would be happy to pay BL fees on the additional charges, I am not quite sure
why they don't right now. I run a second store in my partner's name that
does bulk selling so I pay an arm and a leg over there which, in my opinion,
helps balance it out.

To start out with, we have invited 8 Sellers and Buyers, going forward it will
be possible for all to sign up for Panel participation (we will have a limit
of 10 members per year though).

This sounds like a fine way to start including the community. However, if you
don't have at least one Contributor or Admin(Expert), then you are going
to have a glaring hole in your representation. Our Catalog is complicated and
most sellers and buyers are not aware of how it operates and how it affects the
Marketplace.

You will be wanting someone from one of these pages if you intend to have any
kind of detailed discussion of the site.

Bringing this back, since the issue is coming up frequently for me again.

Dear BrickLink admin folks,

It would be greatly appreciated if a different system for listing Kraata (and/or
other dual color molded parts) could be implemented. BIOSector has detailed descriptions
of each Kraata color pairing, which in theory should make it easy to create a
drop down menu based on the head and tail colors.

As an example:
Say I have a stage 1 Kraata that has a metallic green head. I select “Stage 1”,
then “Head Color: Metallic Green/Lemon Metallic.” (Listing the most common name
for the color and then the official LEGO name for that color). Then I click “Tail
Color:” and am presented with a short drop-down list of possible tail colors,
which in this instance are “Lime/Bright Yellowish-Green”, “Dark Green”, “Metallic
Blue/Sand Blue Metallic”, “Red/Bright Red”, and “Dark Grey Metallic”. (These
are the only 5 tail colors that are paired with a metallic green head.)
The final listing title would look like this:
“Stage 1 Kraata: Lemon Metallic Head, Bright Yellowish Green Tail”

Implementing a system like this would ensure that sellers clearly disclose both
colors of the item before posting, rather than being able to list only the stage
and head color and ignore the instruction to “describe the rest.” Many Kraata
listings do not describe the rest of the item; in fact, many of them leave the
description blank, making their listing functionally worthless. Unless I contact
each and every one of those sellers to ask about their one specific item, there
is no way for me to know if it is an item I am interested in.

As a result, a great many items that people have listed in hopes of selling get
passed over and ignored, due primarily to seller error, but it would be really
helpful to us collectors and customers to be able to get a clear and standardized
system in place to help us make informed purchases.

Thank you for reading!

I have 18 stage 1 Kraata with different tail colors pending. If the admins accept
them I will do the other stages.
