Please make changes to the following inventory:

Set No: 8144 Name: Ferrari 248 F1 Team (Schumacher Edition)
*
8144-1 (Inv) Ferrari 248 F1 Team (Schumacher Edition)
692 Parts, 8 Minifigures, 2007
Sets: Racers: Ferrari

* Change 10 Part Light Bluish Gray {55982 Wheel 18mm D. x 14mm with Axle Hole, Fake Bolts and Shallow Spokes to 55981 Wheel 18mm D. x 14mm with Pin Hole, Fake Bolts and Shallow Spokes}
* Change 10 Part Light Bluish Gray {55982c02 Wheel 18mm D. x 14mm with Axle Hole, Fake Bolts and Shallow Spokes with Black Tire 24 x 14 Shallow Tread (55982 / 30648) to 55981c01 Wheel 18mm D. x 14mm with Pin Hole, Fake Bolts and Shallow Spokes with Black Tire 24 x 14 Shallow Tread (55981 / 30648)} (Counterpart)

Comments from Submitter:
These are the wrong wheels for the set, as can be seen by the PCC 4299119 in the parts list, their appearance on the box, instructions, and other images, and the fact they must attach using a pin connection, not an axle.

Please make changes to the following inventory:

Set No: 8144 Name: Ferrari 248 F1 Team (Raikkonen Edition)
*
8144-2 (Inv) Ferrari 248 F1 Team (Raikkonen Edition)
692 Parts, 8 Minifigures, 2007
Sets: Racers: Ferrari

* Add 1 Part 2446pb26 White Minifig, Headgear Helmet Standard with Ferrari K. Raikkonen Pattern
* Change 1 Part {Trans-Green to Trans-Light Blue} 4073 Plate, Round 1 x 1 Straight Side

Comments from Submitter:
In the instructions the light looks green, but the PCC in the parts list links to light blue. I am not convinced the submitter who changed this was working from an actual set. All the images I have seen of this set assembled (both official and unofficial) clearly show trans light blue. It doesn't make any sense, either, to have a green light on a road vehicle.

The second Raikkonen helmet is visible in the instructions - it sits in the far right corner of the shop in a special display area. See p. 51 (4514156 or 4524010).

I think with all the nice improvements we've been seeing around the site
it might be nice if the forum received some of that same attention to detail

And lose our macros? No thanks!

What are these macros you speak of? Are these the ones that were available years
ago but are no longer supported unless you already have them?

A link is much less convenient than the visual support that the macro offers.

I hate to point out the obvious but, these types of Macros can be added in with
a little code work. The vast amount of Open source and PAID forum modules still
work off a baseline brick and mortar setting. I'm do not consider myself
a professional coder but have taken time to do some reading and getting help
over the years with people who have some experience and adding this type of Macro
Modification to something else is NO where near as hard as people make it out
to be.

I can even give you an example using the wrong method to do it with the Emoji
DB that piggybacks on 99% of the Forums out there. You assign a Macro tag to
something and make it call on an image. you change the emoji image to the Part
or Set Db and WHAM instant Macro that you all know and love. That's the
Rough and dirty way to do it. There are better ways but this is using what is
already out there. Its not Freaking Brain Surgery like some people around here
make the site out to be.

I never said that these features are difficult. I just named two features that
I do not want to lose in an update.

I'm with you,I was just pointing out that your request and consideration
is 100% possible to ANY forum. I love the macro myself..

YES. This is a business killer for me. I started using Bricklink before the
feature was in place, ordering parts to complete sets to sell. And the feature
was really nice for that, but with the small part quantities I could find decent
prices without it- but I really wanted that feature and was glad when it came.

Then I pushed the business forward and began to make MOCs to sell. And they
are selling! With the ability to compare prices I could manage my parts supply
and started to put in much larger Bricklink orders in a fraction of the time.
Today I'm trying to place a 1000+ part order and don't have the time
or patience to wade through the stores with ridiculous prices to find parts at
a reasonable price. And if I do I'll end up with orders from 20 stores instead
of 5, and the only winner is the USPS.

I sell on eBay where the buyer is heavily favored, and now I'm supposed to
buy where the seller is heavily favored?!?! That's a losing proposition
on both sides.

I know the system wasn't perfect but it helped a LOT. If this gets read
by the Bricklink staff, please consider the fact that buyers like me will simply
go away if we can't turn a profit.

Thank you for an AWESOME site. Please help make it easier for the buyers to
buy. That will ensure that buyers like myself will continue to buy, grow our
businesses, and grow your business.

Please see following message.

There are 108 black pins in the early version of the set, but four of them are
"lost" when the staircase axles are replaced by ski poles. See images below.

Two 10232's parted out today and both had 92409 tires rather than the older version 51011u.

This should be a direct change as the 51011u are undetermined parts marked for
deletion. Jennifer, please make sure to update the counterparts for this set
to 42610c03 instead of 42610c01, also. Thanks!

Cheers,

Don't these two links get you what you are asking for? Sorry if I have misunderstood.

Jen

The links can indeed get me what I'm after but the point was that I would
find it helpful if I didn't have to use the links and could just go to the
main thread and read the full chain of replies without having to leave the page.
This can be done even now but as I pointed out earlier the replies get clipped
off after they get too long and thus you cannot stay on the main thread to read
everything. Instead, you end up having to go chase down the replies one at a
time to read the whole thing.

In a typical forum, you would click a topic/post to see the original post and
all of its replies. You can then read the entire reply and all that follow it
till the end of the thread. Everything is available on that one page unless paginated

In this forum, you click a topic/post, get to read the original post, and then
get what amounts to a preview of each reply with links that can take you to the
reply so you can read it. Here only part of the thread is available on the main
page and the rest gets secreted away into "reply" pages that you have to go dig
through individually to get the whole picture.

I would just like to see all of the replies made viewable and readable by way
of the primary post/thread similar to how a normal forum would as outlined above

There could still be "reply" pages as they have them now. I just want to see
the character count restriction lifted for the replies on the main thread so
that the full reply is visible instead of the current partial reply with a link.

Hopefully, this makes sense

Have you tried the speech bubbles in front of each message on the main forum
page?

Thanks for pointing this out. I hadn't noticed that before or the button
at the bottom of the threads aptly titled "entire thread on one page"

I think those 2 give me pretty much what I was looking for. That works I guess.

I still say the forum could be spruced up a bit and polished some but at least
I can read through it the way I wanted to now. Thanks

By the way, I think it's an inefficient and frustrating thing to read the
forum with a whole thread on a page. Take it from someone who has read the BL

of an overhaul for me

What about the links at the bottom of each thread:

Entire thread on one page
This message and all its replies on one page

I agree with the suggestions above. Definitely put something in there to at least
let folks know a baseline.

If you don't have the quote option available, perhaps enable it.

If the buyer buys only a few light items, we'll invoice them, but we'll
also sometimes send them a follow up message to let them know the shipping charged
is the actual shipping cost, no fees were added. It's just expensive to
ship internationally. We'll also let them know how much their package weighs
at this time and let them know how much more they could add to the order for
the same shipping. That way, if they happen to need any other parts that we have,
it might make the high cost of shipping more worthwhile.

Sometimes they still cancel. Somewhat understandable if the cost of shipping
is more than the items. However, still a bit frustrating when you have quotes
enabled and at least some informtaion on shipping on your terms page.

Comments from Submitter:
There are too many changes between set versions to try to include both in a single inventory (37 different lots the last time I checked). However, for the few changes that do happen to be reflected, they should at least be correct. There are three suitcases in each version, 2 red and 1 yellow in the first, and 3 black in the second.

This is the problem, this is very slow and inefficient. I have currently sold
over 3000 orders on Bricklink over the past couple of years and those 2 clicks
per order turn out to be 6000 clicks when that could be reduced considerably.
That is a little bit of extra time that can be allocated to more important tasks.

I don't see how a different method would save a lot of clicks, you
would still need to select which orders you are changing the status on. Now maybe
if there were hundreds of orders a day needing to be changed I can see how this
would be a benefit, but I'm guessing its not that many.

I change the status of some orders that I receive payment, one by one. No way
around that with BLs current system, though Paypal Onsite/Stripe cut down on
that considerably, nothing to be done about money orders and checks. But once
I have all my orders that have their status already set to Paid and since I ship
them all at once it would be nice to change the status of all the orders from
paid to shipped. The other websites I sell Lego on, allow for this. Bricklink
does not.

Maybe I'm just having a bad day and not understanding things.

Thanks for the response.

When I come home after shipping all my orders, I go to Orders Received page
and make sure to only see "Paid" orders or "Not Yet Shipped" being they are
all the orders I just shipped. The current system only allows for changing
one order at a time from "Paid" to "Shipped" when I would like to change all
order statuses at the same time.

(refer to picture)
For example, in Gmail, you can select a toggle on the left side of the screen
to select all emails. Then you may change the status to "unread", "read" etc.
I would like to have some similar functionality to eliminate the tedium.

Cheers,
Captain Q

I just named two features that
I do not want to lose in an update.

the BrickLink forum is nicer because I don't have to click into and out of

In the end, though, I have no doubt that conformity will rule the day and BrickLink

time. Just be patient.

Maybe we can get a combination of both styles and get the features we both like

Personally I still really like this one https://www.discourse.org/

I've used it before, it was easy to work with, and had loads of nice features
and options. You can see a functional example of it here https://try.discourse.org/
if you care to see it.

In lieu of a full overhaul, it would at least be nice if the current forum was
a bit more dynamic for larger screens/resolutions, and if it were made so that
the full replies could all be read from the primary thread.

Right now you can go to a primary thread and see all the replies in sequence
at the bottom, but you can't read the full reply if it exceeds a certain
character count, and it doesn't seem to show any of the nested sub-replies
except at the very bottom in the reply "tree".

Example: (https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1010950)

If it could be changed so that we could read the whole reply for all the replies
and sub-replies on the thread from the main thread page that would be enough
of an overhaul for me

The one in the stores should be added to all pages.

It *was* added to all pages just a little while ago, and the majority of users
hated it and complained, leading to its quick removal. I don't think it will
be making a return.

I was one of those that didn't like it, but only because it hovered and then
moved around if I resized the page, covering up what I was trying to look at.
If it was embedded at the bottom of the page, maybe grouped with the "previous"
and "next" buttons I wouldn't mind.

Maybe it was just too invasive in its implementation last time. Done correctly
it would be helpful to have. If it dynamically scaled with the page to stay out
of the way, appeared and disappeared at reasonable times, and only showed on
pages that made sense it should be fine I would think.

Yes, it was too invasive in its implementation last time. I didn't hate it
as it was helpful at times, but I didn't really like it either when it would
cover up other content that needed to be clicked. It definitely could be brought
back if done correctly.

Cheers,
Randy

I just feel as though this forum is lacking too greatly visually. If it were
improved it would become a more valuable assett to have, and a more useful resource
for everyone. This becomes especially apparent if you have a large monitor like
I do (30in. widescreen w/2k resolution). A massive portion of my screen is just
gray background with everything else crushed into a little box in the middle.

It just all feels outdated where the rest of the site no longer really does except
maybe some of the catalog pages that still do too.

What might be considered an asset to you could be a detriment to others. Certainly
our Forum appears outdated, but I am not at all anxious for the designs to be
updated to fit a wide screen only. Many of the newly updated pages are doing
just that. The content needs to be dynamic to adjust to a smaller browser window
for those of us working on an older device or with 2 windows open at once. Large
fixed-width pages are a hassle for many of us and having to use a horizontal
scroll bar to try and read a line of text more then 120 characters wide would
not be an improvement over what we have.

I do hope improvements are made and that the improvements reflect the needs of
all our members.

Jen

I would certainly hope it were done in a dynamic way to accomodate both wide
and standard screen formats, and ideally a wealth of resolutions to boot

Just noticed the Stud.io Forum today. It's totally different from this one
and much nicer I think. I'd be fine with the rest of the forums being overhauled
to match that. Provided everyone gets their macros and whatnot I suppose

The first thing you should do is to put a shipping cost table in your store terms.

Then at least buyers has a theoretical chance to see shipping cost before placing
an order. This of course only works for those buyers who actually read store
terms

I have shipped 900+ orders and never had a buyer ask for order cancellation because
of shipping cost.

Kind regards

A shipping table in your store terms might help. I wouldn't expect people
to go to USPS and enter details to figure out rough prices.

^As he said. Also add weight limits so that they know that they may be able to
add more items to the order without increasing shipping cost. I have a chart
that you may look at as an guideline, however I have not updated the prices since
the last time they went up. For me it's not much of an issue, I mostly sell
electronic instructions anyway.

Also it may be helpful to put the minimum international shipping price (~$13)
in the international shipping option name.

Unfortunately USPS has decided to do away with tiered shipping prices and instead
make everyone pay at an 8 oz price even if the package weighs far less than that
threshold.

Its currently 2 clicks per order - one to select the dropdown, one to select
status. I don't see how a different method would save a lot of clicks, you
would still need to select which orders you are changing the status on. Now maybe
if there were hundreds of orders a day needing to be changed I can see how this
would be a benefit, but I'm guessing its not that many.

Maybe I'm just having a bad day and not understanding things.

Right now, compared to the rest of the site, the Stud.io Gallery page doesn't
seem to be as flexible with its searching considerations. For instance, if you
search for "Headz" it brings up 2 results, but if you search for "BrickHeadz"
it brings up like 16 results.

It just seems like it should operate like the rest of the site would and bring
up all 18 results from searching for "Headz" alone

Just select shipped from the dropdown next to each order you want to change then
press submit, no need to press submit after each order.

The A version of the part is by all accounts an outlier, and when looking at the change log for Oct 1 2012, we can see this line has been subject to one of those "double changes" where the log does not accurately reflect the intentions of the submitters.

In any regard, there have been that many changes to the original inventory that we should not hold on to any original variants too tightly.

Totally agree. There is no way the 'a' version of that slope was being
used in 2012.

I agree completely. This Macro thingy should be easy enough to implement into
whatever new forum they may or may not put in effect. That shouldn't bee
too big a deal, and has the side benefit of being the appropriate time to fully
implement it if it's currently lacking any features, or catalog sections,
etc.

I just feel as though this forum is lacking too greatly visually. If it were
improved it would become a more valuable assett to have, and a more useful resource
for everyone. This becomes especially apparent if you have a large monitor like

Please see following post.

Notes in the listings for this set confirm the color is indeed Black. Also, see
Peeron inventory.

Also, I have retrieved a copy of the parts list which may have been used to generate
the inventory. See how easy it is to confuse Dark Gray and Black (images attached).

And another image, different 9794 parts list.

Hi Dave,

Being that your suggestion was regarding manners, I find it embarrassing that
it was so quickly discarded without an explanation! Sorry about that. We appreciate
your suggestion and users may now vote as they please.

Thanks so much!

p.s. I changed the title of the suggestion in my reply because I wouldn't
be able to live with myself otherwise

In Suggestions, BRWA writes:
I see bill time has come around again from BL.

I note that there is now "please" in the pay now demand.

How do we teach the next generation of people respect when major organisations
refuse to be polite?

Is it so hard to respect people? Is our manners now so obsolete that a little
respect is too much? I am sorry but I come from an age where please and thank
you is standard, hello and good bye is an acknowledgement of another person,
and saying excuse me and sorry when injecting or creating various interferences
to another depending on the case, whether a little harm like crossing in front
of a person, or making a mistake and providing acknowledgement and sympathy to
the person I may have caused harm to!!!

Further this is a family site, can we not just leave the big nasty company behaviour
outside the website? And so BL ADMIN - It is so really so hard to add the words
like?:

PLEASE pay now - THANK YOU and maybe the following something like this:

for trading/using/selling through our service....

After all I give a lot of my time to making the store work, I am happy to pay
for the service/ use the website mostly, but the ride is not free and easy, anyone
who works a busy store will tell you that. So I really believe a drop of kindness
is a slight acknowledgement that BL is not shouldering the load of the site and
that it takes a community, as a whole to give and take for the site to work and
I think that others are also slightly disappointed that BL Admin is not always
acknowledging the effort store owners and buyers put in to make it work!

Please consider!

Thank you for your time,
Kind regards
Dave

I agree that one you link too is a bit ott but a new one would be great this
one is hard to use, maybe something akin to the forums on Eurobricks as most
of us are used to those I imagine

A visual update in line with the rest of the website maybe. I'll hate it
for a few days but I'll get used to it. But I love the message tree and those
macros. Losing those would be bad.

How many deaths could have been avoided over the lifespan of Bricklink? We should
hold Bricklink accountable for any suicides that have happened during the time
they have been thoughtlessly not saying please and thank you for people paying
them for providing a service...Wait, that sounds kinda ridiculous...

Dave

Hi.

I appreciate your points as I too come from the era where thank you and please
were much more common then they are now.

But I have to say, the gist of your message goes completely contrary to the idea
of showing respect. I don't say this because I am trying to be a jerk or
incite anybody in a negative way but just looking at your message I see allot
of disrespect being shown towards BrickLink.

Here is what I mean....

By saying this:

"Is it so hard to respect people? Is our manners now so obsolete that a little
respect is too much? I am sorry but I come from an age where please and thank
you is standard, hello and good bye is an acknowledgement of another person,
and saying excuse me and sorry when injecting or creating various interferences
to another depending on the case, whether a little harm like crossing in front
of a person, or making a mistake and providing acknowledgement and sympathy to
the person I may have caused harm to!!!"

And then following up with this:

"Further this is a family site, can we not just leave the big nasty company behaviour
outside the website? And so BL ADMIN - It is so really so hard to add the words
like?:

PLEASE pay now - THANK YOU and maybe the following something like this:

for trading/using/selling through our service...."

You are implying that because BL dose not use the words PLEASE or THANK YOU in
their request for money that all the bad things you mentioned in the previous
paragraphs apply to them.

You are even referring to them as a company with "big nasty company behavior"
problems.

To say all this just because they don't use the words PLEASE or THANK YOU
is quite a stretch.

Again, I am not trying to be a jerk and start something. If nobody else here
reads what you said in the same way as I do then I apologize for taking it wrong.

Jim

Hi Jim,
Your acceptance of the behaviour of people/companies/businesses and your lack
of understanding of my message is unfortunately why we have so many problems
today. The constant bullying and failure to accept that people are fragile and
lack of empathy is creating a world where people are giving up.

Many people, despite the access to communications are killing themselves because
they have lost touch with other people. It has been constantly proven that the
average human is a pack animal that can not live with others. In our current
society we alien each other by ignoring the simple things that make us warm and
fuzzy. By Acknowledging that a person is there or contributes then this person
feels self worth, and that what manners were invented for. It gave people a way
of addressing the support of others in way that was not demeaning or debase.
And so when companies and businesses ignore simple things like, hello good- bye,
please, thank you and the all important: we are sorry we got it wrong, it teaches
the new generation that they can be ignored too.
So often now store employees refuse to say thank you for taking your money, we
give them a job when we buy merchandise and they in turn can buy stuff they want
and need. A thank you is not debasing, it is simply acknowledging that the person
handing the money over for goods has obtained the money they have earned and
chosen to spend the money at this location - when they could have chosen another.
If you think it is acceptable for any company, (and BL is NOT small - just look
at the order numbers and how quickly they turn over), can ignore their manners
then young kids learn to ignore them, or fail to practise them.
So as a society we fail to acknowledge the person we deal with and in doing so
begin to crush their self worth. Look at the story of Pink Floyd's wall and
learn this story, there is so many like it now, each step that a person takes
can be forward, side ways or backward. A step in any direction is determined
by input or decisions internally. A person takes steps bit by bit to destruction
as they feel options and resolutions fade. Thelma and Louise was a story to watch,
here two woman decide suicide is their only option, when you watch how it happens
bit by bit it makes sense. If you watch only the beginning and the end you shake
your head and wonder why they did it.

So in the end manners have their place, you never know whether that polite hello,
good-bye, please or thank you could mean the difference between someone committing
suicide or stepping forward and having a productive life.
If you value people and care then please rethink your message above and learn
how important a simple word can be!!!

Kind regards,
Dave

We do not have manners now, we have cell phones.

John P

I blame those things too although we don't all have to buy in to poor standards
just because others think it's trendy. Hopefully phones will soon have AI
and they'll be able to communicate with each other in their own rude language
without our involvement leaving us humans to go back to human interaction.

I agree with the OP's sentiment though, we always try to put basic niceties
in our messages even if they are problem related like NPB's

Dave

This suggestion got discarded before I had a chance to vote for it, but I did
want to let you know in the meantime I placed an order in someone's store
and said "please" and "thanks" in the order notes.
