* Delete 1 Part 2146c00 Blue Fabuland Skateboard - Complete Assembly
* Add 2 Part fabwheel3 White Wheel Pair Small with Center Stud fixed on Axle (Fabuland Stroller)
* Add 1 Part 2146 Blue Fabuland Skateboard
Comments from Submitter:
The two 2146c00's have different colored wheels and are not consistent with current catalog conventions.

Yep. Bit of a mess, actually. The current image in blue shows an item which
should be included in the inventory, though - it is the stickered complete assembly
counterpart. Provided, that is, that the stickers are correctly applied - perhaps
you can check that with the instructions?
It would, of course, need a new catalog entry.
|
This has all been taken care of by someone else, but in case there is curiosity,
the instructions do not concern themselves with the skateboard, but there are
candid pictures of it completed and the stickers in the catalog pic are correct.

| I found this in my inventory last week. The first is these new brackets. The
brick with clip is normal Dark Bluish Gray, the bracket on the bottom is normal
Light Bluish Gray. The two in the middle, well, ???. I know this happens when
they change colors in the molding machine, I just never saw two with that much
difference before
The second is a slope I found and I can't really explain the speckle. It
is a LEGO part, seems to be mostly Light Bluish Gray. When I looked at it through
a loop, as you can see here, it has small shafts of black. I would expect round
beads, but not shafts.
Does anyone know how the slope got speckled?
Anyone interested in owning them?

Thanks for all of your input. I will double check that is or isn't LEGO.

If you want to mess with it, this part also needs to be corrected in the same
way:
* | | fabad3c01 (Inv) Fabuland Stroller Chassis with Red Wheel Pair Small with Center Stud Fixed on (Same Color) Axle (fabad3 / fabwheel3) Parts: Fabuland |

You may have noticed by now that I am not reliable at coming back to see if there
are replies.

|
Trans-green is how Maggie originally inventoried the set from MISB contents.
Someone came along in 2008 and changed the door colors to trans-bright green.
Considering that the purple/silver box edition of this set also includes trans-green
doors, I have approved your requests and then changed the trans-green to regular.
As to whether the trans-bright green doors should be in the inventory at all:
I rather strongly doubt it, but will leave them there as alternates.
|
Thanks for changing Trans-Green back to the regular color.

I will say one thing, that these pieces are a touch lighter than the 1x2 bricks
in the set. But:
1) I believe it is because the plastic is a little thinner.
2) They are MUCH closer to trans-green than they are to trans-bright green.
If you look at them alone, they read as trans-green. But if you look at them
with just the trans-green bricks in the set and there is no trans-bright green
around, it would be fairly easy to be fooled because they look a little different.

I measured palm leaf size and it is definitely 5x10 not 3x8

Both sets have been changed to show they were redesigns.
I guess I never thought about it, BTW, but apparently an axle will fit into the
end of this part (as seen in your additional image of the supplemental instructions):

Proof is a correction sheet which I've uploaded as extra instruction image. Will also post it as reponse to this request in forum. At least some of these sets come with this change. If this is considered a redesign, feel free to change match ID to 99.

You bring up an interesting point: BrickLink has no standards for what is considered
a redesigned set (as opposed to alternate parts or other changes over time).
This lack of standards leaves the decision, as in many other areas of BrickLink,
to the whim of whomever is looking at the matter.
In the case of this set, I'm not sure if I would consider it redesigned or
not since there is no obvious rationale for the redesign (no improved stability
or playability, for example).
I will try to put something together and add it to the Help section so that we
can all be clear on what is considered a redesign and what is not. Your requests
were approved.
|
I would consider this a redesign since alternate instructions were involved.
There are a number of cases like this where a larger part is replaced by two
smaller ones:
Of course, the exact reasons for a redesign are not divulged by TLG, so we do
our best instead to come up with a plausible rationale for each case. I would
suppose in most of these cases that it was done to make construction easier.
Here, it seems to make disassembly easier. Perhaps there were a few cases of
kids twisting the boat and breaking the 4 x 6 plate.
