The left and right side stickers are not the same. BA152pb01 goes on the left
side and BA151pb01 goes on the right side of the car. I have changed quantity
to 1 for both of these.

  In Colors, WoutR writes:
I don't know what the current status is of the planned catalog color project,
but in preparation here is a photo of some pink parts.

The parts on the left are LEGO Light Reddish Violet. The parts on the
right are LEGO Rose. Both are called pink on BrickLink.

Rose is commonly called "Paradisa Pink" and is often sold as "Light Pink" on
BrickLink.

I am not sure if BrickLink's Light Pink actually exist. I suspect many are
misidentified.

I recently found a rare 9290-1 for sale. I took the band off myself, so I'm
reasonably sure there was no UV damage, but I can't speak for say temperature
or humidity or anything else. The set is 24 years old.

I didn't notice any problem as I prepared the inventory and sorted the set
out in my kitchen and living room. But when I got it ready to sell the pieces,
in my stockroom with bright white light, I found the white pieces all off-white.
They aren't terrible, you know? I've seen way worse. But they were
not factory white. So I have given them all to my daughters. But none of the
other colors seemed bad until I was consolidating pieces that I already had in
my inventory. This pic shows what I found. Maybe the pink is damaged, but I
just wondered if maybe it wasn't. If 5890 and 9290 come with different old
pinks, then I want to keep one of each for reference. And I have enough to prepare
3 more reference sets for other people. I take some hope from the fact that
the ones in 9290 seem lighter. I'm not sure what a yellowed old pink piece
would look like, but I would expect it to get darker rather than lighter.

Set 5980 was made from 1994 to 1995.

Set 9290 was issued in 1996. It is not included in the LEGO Collector's guide,
so I am not sure how long those were released.

Ryan uses 1994 as the year of the color change. In my earlier message
(PM), I thought it was 1997.

Both of these are the newer Light Reddish Violet.

This list shows the color change in 1994.
http://ryanhowerter.net/colors.php
His Flickr images mention 1997. I think that the list is correct...

Is there a flag you can set so that this relation type also shows up at catalog
item pages like other relations?

No. Frankly, I'm not sure why we need one. Every item on the list should
have, at a minimum, an additional note and preferably also a comparison image.
So specifying on an individual catalog entry itself that a part is flagged as
a part variant is unnecessary.

Or is this up to admin Russell to get a developer onto this?

If there were a developer on it, we would not have needed to use the relationship
match in this way.

More criticism for the catalog admin team, I see.

In this case, I think the criticism was justified.
I am happy to see that the Additional notes were updated.

Do they qualify to be added as a SOA part, and also as a brick decorated part

in multiple configurations in this set?

You do not want to know what SOA means in the Netherlands.
I understand this is the best way to make the description short but the association
is grose.

An admin appears to agree that the additional notes are "fairly snarky" out of
"frustration over sellers just not getting the difference."

In my opinion, since users aiming their frustration at admins is discouraged,
admins using the catalog to aim their frustrations at sellers should also be
discouraged.

So now we've added this:

Definitions updated:

Now when you discover a new mold or print variant, all you have to do is:

1. Submit a comparison image showing the differences.

2. Submit a relationship match.

That's it! Enjoy.

Nice way to see them in one list

Great idea to do it this way.

Is there a flag you can set so that this relation type also shows up at catalog
item pages like other relations? Or is this up to admin Russell to get a developer
onto this?

The one on the right looks like Paradisa Pink (LEGO=Rose) to me. I don't
have access to our physical color chart at the moment to create a comparison
photo, but the old pink has a grayness / dullness that is unmistakable. See image
below.

I found the winners' list from the competition, btw.

Wary means feeling or showing caution about possible dangers or problems.
Aware means knowing that something exists, or having knowledge or experience
of a particular thing.
