If you hold them next to each other, you can clearly see the old one is trans-brown.

I really like both.
I would also like to buy more of them.
Just waiting for Lego to do more of the tricky, moc-heavy parts in these colors.
But there's also the issue of old parts, ceased production, which won't
ever be remade and this hurts a lot of ideas.

I have never liked orange. I much prefer lime or any other color.

Just my opinion,

Lime
Dark Purple
Medium Lavender
Bright Pink
Medium Azure
Magenta

colors typically associated with Friends sets

I sell a lot of Medium Azure, though not as much as Medium Blue, which is extremely
popular over the past year. I also sell a lot of Dark Purple, though far more
specialty parts than regular bricks, plates, or tiles. And I sell a TON of Lime.
Out of all of those, Magenta is easily the worst seller for me, and Medium Lavender
and Bright Pink are also low, about the same level as Dark Pink, Medium Nougat,
and Trans-Orange. As to the OP, Lime sells far better than Orange. But IMO, Magenta
is the lowest seller.

By all means keep my store in mind when you're looking for Dark Purple; I
have quite a bit of it at the moment.

I think I will keep your store in mind. It may be a couple of months, though
- I have two further projects to complete, but at least I already have vehicle
mudguards in Dark Purple, so it shouldn't be too difficult to find the right
parts to build a Dark Purple and Black Ford Mustang convertible.

There used to be an all times most/least sold list. Does anyone know if this

I've used Medium Azure in a couple of my projects, and I plan to order parts
in Lime and maybe Dark Purple later this year. As for Medium Lavender and Magenta,
the only parts that I've ever used in those colors were the hair bows that
can be used with mini-doll and some minifigure hair pieces. I have absolutely
no use for Bright Pink in my projects, so I would say Bright Pink would be even
less popular than Orange or Lime... but that's just my opinion.

Oh, I'm not saying that no one buys these colors, just that in my experience
they don't sell well. I just got rid of some parts in the colors listed above
that had been languishing in my store for *checks notes* three years.

(Maybe part of the issue is that the parts that come in these colors are themselves
unpopular anyway!)

By all means keep my store in mind when you're looking for Dark Purple; I

Of those two? I sell lime at a 20:1 ratio to Orange. Typically the very small
stuff like 1x1 round tiles.

that calls for trans-black shows that nobody has it. I deal with several people
each week that will not buy a MOC if the seller does not have 100% of the parts.
If they have a new color or shade coming out why not call it "new trans-black"
or anything but to remove hundreds of parts from inventory makes no sense.
Who wants to buy a part with "old" in the name or brown when they are
looking for black.

The LEGO Group released a new color which they call "Trans-Black"

Unfortunately, BrickLink already has a color called "Trans-Black"

TLG refers to this color as "Trans-Brown"

To avoid confusion, the catalog people decided to adopt TLG's naming conventions

For the time being, Trans-Black has been renamed to "Trans-Brown (Old Trans-Black)"

The new color, when it is introduced, will be called "Trans-Black (2023)"

Eventually, the stuff in parentheses will be removed

It appears that TLG intends to eventually phase out Trans-Brown in favor of Trans-Black

More on that here: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1402419

It sounds like Rebrickable needs to respond to a change at Bricklink.

Rebrickable will just have to adjust it on their end as well?

They’re still looking for the same color. Send buyers a link to the discussion.
People need to familiarize themselves with the forum.

Since Trans-Black is already taken on BrickLink, we could call it Trans-White.
Trans-White is still available.

Docent look Black to me more like some sick medium blue color.
We really need a image where the both the new color and the old are side by side.

And i agree with other people in here.
You don't change a name that been in the database for over 20 years, you
make a new one.

I disagree. There’s no reason to create more confusion for the next 20 years.
LEGO isn’t going to change their color names, so we should try our best to match
their names going forward. Calling the current smoky color Trans-Black was a
terrible choice from the start.

Agreed. I don’t think it’s a good idea to change the old name. A new name for
the new colour would seem best since other colour names arnt based off how lego
has them so why do we need this one to if it will be at the cost of a very well
known name

Are we sure that this is not just Trans-Satin Black?

It looks great!!

I guess this is the first goodbye to 111 Transparent Brown? LEGO’s recent transparent
purge is pretty strange. Still very sad to see Trans-Neon Green following suit.

hold up, trans-neon green is going away? is there an article on this?

Yup. No more Trans-Neon Green after this year. I don’t think there’s an article
on this, which is surprising given that it is a beloved color.

Source? I thought that just Trans-Neon Orange retired (possibly due to formula
issues with the new plastic).

No pic, but when the colour changed happened in 2003-4, it also applied to ink
used on figs. Could that be it?

Thanks for your reply! I already did that but I'm looking for an even faster
way to check it, like an already prepared list like the one at the bottom of
the inventory page of each set.

My favorite colors:
Metallic Green (as used on the 8466 4x4 off-roader)
Trans-Neon Orange (Ice Planet all the way)
Neon Yellow (best new color of recent times IMO)
Dark Purple (such a great color)

Least favorite colors:
Trans-Neon green
Dark Orange
Olive Green
Bright Light Orange

Has anyone noticed a color variation for the part 970c120pb01? The part is used
for Eomer and King Theoden's legs in The Lord of the Rings sets.
I purchased four parts recently, and three of them have a light brown belt and
dark red fabric flowing from it. The picture on Bricklink shows exactly this.
However, the fourth one I purchased has a brighter red fabric and the belt is
the same red color.
I know that printed colors can vary a decent bit, but was surprised that the
belt is actually a different color. Just curious if anyone else has noticed
this or had anything to weigh in on.
In the images attached, the redder one is on the right.

I gotta tell ya; Sand Green is definitely climbing the ranks. It's a great
color to use for patinated copper and it reminds me of a diner my grandpa used
to take me to when I was a kid.

It is happening in at least 2 of the trans colors with the new plastic formula.
I have seen a yellowing in both the trans light blue as well as the trans clear.
Enough so that the clear looks used and aged. Massive quality control issue.

The texture is a characteristic of the metal mold that the plastic parts are
injection molded in. It has nothing to do with the colors. These parts were unfortunately
just not colored properly. I am noticing this more and more in the transparent
parts since they switched to the new transparent plastic material.

I think MABS tends to give a bluish hue — maybe these slopes mark a return to
the previous trans-light blue color (as in, they finally got the mix dialed in)?
I'm curious how they compare to old PC trans-light blue.

Yea it's... not good. This was one of the first sets I bought specifically
to part out so I was really struggling with how to handle it. It's much
more noticeable when you have them on a light table or in brighter light,
and it's enough that I actually split them in to two lots with a note in
one. Kind of like with the Dark Red (?) tiles.

They could be really handy if you're making a waterfall/creek to give the
water some definition.

Yup. I've been saying this for a while now. I did two City Gardens part

That’s the problem, someone at sometime is going to cry foul, wrong colour, fake

Thank You so much! I didn't even think of dropping to "pb05" and
just looking at 54821. But I knew the "pb05" was a variant identifier.

When in doubt, remove the variant identifier and replace with a wildcard *

I have a quantity of 3 of the above mentioned part in Dark Azure. They are identical
to the picture of the Trans-Bright Green. There is a hole at the top, it's
hard to see on this picture. I do not have a Trans-Bright Green in hand to compare.

Can anyone tell me if Dark Azure does exist?

Thank You so much! I didn't even think of dropping to "pb05" and
just looking at 54821. But I knew the "pb05" was a variant identifier.
