Correct.

Here is a good lookup table, should you need to look up any other colors: http://ryanhowerter.net/colors.html

I came across of two different shades of Trans-Dark Pink Duplo flowers.
The right one seem to be a bit more purplish with a more matt surface?
I've some of the right ones and some of the left one too...

Unfortunately I can't help with the Duplo parts but your photos look amazing!
What camera and lighting are you using? :o

Thanks, but only a quite simple Canon PowerShot (daylight) - it`s great for detailed
pics...

Trans-Black is a current Q color used in model shops, I wouldn't be surprised
if more leak out soon. Maybe visit a LegoLand and ask very very nicely, that's
what I did for a couple of my bricks

As for flat silver, that one is extremely rare for some reason. I got maybe 20
of them back when the Schaumburg Discovery Centers allowed you to buy whatever
you build from the play brick, but I've sold them all and never seen them
since. At all. Everyone I know who has one got theirs from me or that Discovery
Center.

What I sometimes do is to create two separate lots if I have a few of noticeably
different shades and list one batch as 'lighter pearl gold' and the other
as 'darker pearl gold' in case someone buys the whole lot. Is extra
work though but helps the buyer as they will know in advance they will get two
distinctly different shades. Pearl Gold is a bit of a nightmare colour.

In Catalog, odurt writes:
  Hi,

Can you help me the color of the different gold parts shown in the picture below.

The two on the left are from

Set No: 75183 Name: Darth Vader Transformation
*
75183-1 (Inv) Darth Vader Transformation
224 Parts, 6 Minifigures, 2017
Sets: Star Wars: Star Wars Episode 3

The three in the middle are from

Set No: 70612 Name: Green Ninja Mech Dragon
*
70612-1 (Inv) Green Ninja Mech Dragon
523 Parts, 4 Minifigures, 2017
Sets: The LEGO NINJAGO Movie

In both sets, the parts are listed as Pearl Gold. However, the three in the middle
look more metallic as per the silver part on the right. Should I proceed with
an inventory change request to add the three in the middle as alternate Metallic
Gold parts?

Thanks,

Sebastien

No, definitely not. These are all pearl gold parts and they vary noticeably
in color. I've seen significant color variances in the same parts pulled
out of the same sealed set (half one shade and half the other shade).

It's just poor quality control from TLG.

Thanks!

I'd be interested to know what it is as I have the same parts as you and
can't work it out from the known colours. It looks too uniform to have faded
and I'm assuming it's not a Bayer brick.

Thanks but my bus has arrived time to head to work so I will look it up by number

If it is part (4532a), it can be Medium Orange.

LEGO stopped producing Brown in 2006 as you will see in the color chart via the
link provided in the first answer. Both Green and Bright Green are still in
production and are considered distinct colors. Bright Green is not a replacement
to Green like Reddish Brown was to Brown.

I just opened a sealed set 9470, released in 2012. There seem to be two shades
of gray. There is Light Bluish Gray and I cannot determine the other. It is not
the same as the Old Light Gray(not shown in picture). Bricklink catalog stated
Light Bluish Gray but the parts look more like Pearl Light Gray. Any idea? Thanks.

Set No: 9470 Name: Shelob Attacks
*
9470-1 (Inv) Shelob Attacks
214 Parts, 3 Minifigures, 2012
Sets: The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings: The Lord of the Rings

Being from a sealed set, this suggests that the parts are Light Bluish Gray.
Just not very colour consistent ones. Although it is strange that a number of
different parts all have the same off-colour. Maybe it has been stored in a strange
way and those parts have all bleached slightly but consistently.

No, it’s not Very Light Gray, nor Very LBG, because very few parts were made
with these colours:
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&colorPart=49
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&colorPart=99

IMHO, it’s just a light batch of LBG: not enough dye in the plastic.
TLG’s quality control doesn’t care much about colours

Light Bluish Gray but the parts look more like Pearl Light Gray. Any idea? Thanks.

there is a very light gray, in limited pieces, looks like that might be what
you have.

I put "Old Yellow" in description field. But "Early color Yellow" or something
like that would do too I guess. There is no general standard.

No idea?

The catalogue doesn’t differentiate the yellows.
It also doesn’t differentiate the hands variants ( https://www.leggodt.nl/items/lego/themes-minifigs.php?language=en
), unless you’re talking about the maxifig hands:

Part No: 3614a Name: Plate, Round 1 x 1 with Tow Ball with Round Hole (Homemaker Figure / Maxifigure Hand)
*
3614a Plate, Round 1 x 1 with Tow Ball with Round Hole (Homemaker Figure / Maxifigure Hand)
Parts: Plate, Round

Part No: 3614b Name: Plate, Round 1 x 1 with Tow Ball with Hexagon Shaped Hole (Homemaker Figure / Maxifigure Hand)
*
3614b Plate, Round 1 x 1 with Tow Ball with Hexagon Shaped Hole (Homemaker Figure / Maxifigure Hand)
Parts: Plate, Round

As for your inventory, you might add a note on the items.

The ones with glitter, yes. There are also plain milky ones used in LLCA’s star
wars dio, and it’s hard to know which you’re buying without asking the seller.

There's a part number called 3001special where you'll see all sorts of
odd test / Bayer bricks for sale. Highly collectable, I collect them myself but
it can get a bit obsessive if not careful.

I’ll include pics. Does anyone have this same color?

I don’t think it’s due to age, or light. The inside of the brick is the same
color, with no discoloration anywhere.

That would explain away light, but I think the bricks are the same age on the
inside as the outside.

These are regular blue. Some blue bricks when they age turn this color.

Yes, you are right, I now see what parts it is and this is probably a lot of
discoloration due to the sunlight.

This discoloration is not due to sunlight, just the age of the bricks. They uniformly
turn this color, exposed to light or not. Just something in the dye that is causing
this. It mainly impacts a specific set of parts, over a specific set of years
that this was used.

It is a freaky cool phenomenon. I like to call it murky blue.

If they are uniform they are what some of us call 'brittle blue'. I've
got loads that I collect and there are other's out there who collect brittle
blue too.

I was sorting some of my legos into colors and found a few pieces in a color
I’ve never seen before. It’s like a dark blueish green/ dark teal. I checked
the colors on Bricklink, and couldn’t find it listed. These are Lego brand.
I’ll include pics. Does anyone have this same color?

Hi,

Thank you all for your feedback. The set was brand new and sealed from a trusted
seller on ebay. I agree that they are most likely from separate batches which
is annoying and not very fair as close up you can tell they are different. I
have contacted Lego and they are willing to replace the two slightly darker plates
for free. However, I hope they don't just send me another two darker plates
though on accident.

I also noticed the same problem with a few of the other pieces in the set. Oh
well, I got two free plates out of it! Lol.

BINGO, I like this explanation. If I look indirectly at them, I see the same
colours. When I look more directly at them, it's the shadow effects that
are different..

That's a huge difference. The one on the left looks like Dark Azure. Is this
a MISB set?

2-35 and 4-35 are just numbers indicating from which mould and from where in
the mould the piece came.

Either the parts come from two different colour batches, or there was a dye error
(one wrong batch), or it’s a different colour that was wrongly stored.

Anyway, fine example of LEGO quality control

You can always try and call LEGO, they have a good customer service and might
offer free replacement.

Hi there

We just finished parting out 2 of these and there was not the difference you
have had. Could be they came from a different batch of plates;.

Everything we had was the right hand side of your photo. The left acutally looks
like dark azure or ish.

There are currently two different shades of pearl gold that you will find interchangeably
within sets and between different boxes of the same set. And there is a third
more pearly color that used to run under that name. You are showing the current
shades there.

Metallic gold is painted. It is shiny, but not reflective. Chrome gold is mirror
shiny. The other colors you named as practically irrelevent as far as I am concerned.

I am looking for some clear examples of the Gold lego colour and was hoping someone
might be able to provide some examples to help me distinguish between them.

Chrome Gold
Flat Dark Gold
Pearl Gold
Pearl Light Gold
Metallic Gold
Speckle Black-Gold

Many thanks in advance for your time and efforts to photograph and post your
examples so I might be able ti better distinguish between then and correctly
inventory them.

Have you thought about using 1 x 1 tiles instead? They're plentiful in both
sand blue and sand green.

I've not thought about that, because I'm not sure if they would stand
out noticeably....

It's a thought....

I'll look into this.

Hi Guys,

I'm really cheesed off right now, as I decided to dip my toe into the frustrating
world of BL's Mosaik designer, to re-create a picture of my recently passed
away dog.

The reason I'm cheesed off?

The Mosaik programme calculated that I need to have 559 1x1 plates in Sand Blue...

We used to fight over the 1x1 plates in Sand Green to complete the Statue of
Liberty and Yoda sets which in turn really pushed the prices of them up, and
then Lo and Behold, LEGO comes out with the Brickheadz Owen and Blue set, which
is now going to lower the prices... (need 288 of them as well... )

But with the 'unofficial' policy of old colours getting re-made (Dark
Turquoise comes to mind), I wonder if LEGO will actually re-release the 1x1 plate
in Sand Blue?

Ah well, rant/grumble over, I'm seriously debating of whether I could get
away by cutting a 1x2 plate in half?

Regards,

Paul

  Hello,

Does anyone know what colour is the sword in the middle? I was sold to me as
metallic gold but looks different from my own mg which is the left one (right
one is copper). Or is it just a color variation?

Thanks,
Alexandre

Metallic Gold is a BrickLink color referring to a plain part (usually made in
Tan) that has had a coating applied to it. The coating is only applied to ABS
parts, and these swords were not made with ABS. My guess is that they were made
from polyethylene. Therefore, the first thing to realize is that none of them
are Metallic Gold.

The center one is definitely LEGO color Warm Gold, which is Pearl Gold on BrickLink.
The left one looks too light to me to be BrickLink's Flat Dark Gold (LEGO's
Metallic Sand Yellow), so it is probably just a Pearl Gold variation.

Cheers,
Randy

Thank you for your reply.

However it makes me even more confused. The sword on the left is exactly (and
I mean, exactly) the same color as the viking helmet which is said to be metallic
gold. How can it be another color then? That sword in mg appears in several sets
according to the BL catalog and very different from the one in the middle (the
texture is different, more "solid", don't know how to say it).
Also, I compared all these swords with pearl gold parts and if I remember well,
the colors did not match.

Thanks,
Alexandre

Here is an image of parts in BrickLink Metallic Gold:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/126975831@N07/15218053575/

Notice that none of them are molded from gold-colored plastic. They have a gold
paint applied to them through a drum lacquering process. On a flexible part like
the swords in question, the painted coating would flake off upon bending the
part. That is why this process (and in effect BrickLink color) is not used on
flexible parts.

Now, here is an image of parts in BrickLink Pearl Gold:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/126975831@N07/15211982695/

Notice that all of these parts are molded from gold-colored plastic.

It is very easy to tell which is which due to the texture of the part and how
they reflect light. However, the easiest way to tell is usually looking underneath
the painted parts to see that their undersides do not get completely covered
in paint.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

According to official LEGO sources, this particular sword was made in the following
colors:

(1) LEGO METALLIC SAND BLUE (BrickLink Metal Blue)

https://www.flickr.com/photos/126975831@N07/14908529407/

(2) LEGO REDDISH GOLD / GOLD METALLIC (Lumped into BrickLink Copper but *not*
BrickLink Copper)

https://www.flickr.com/photos/126975831@N07/14948075737/

https://www.flickr.com/photos/126975831@N07/15056373636/

Notice the huge difference between these two colors that are both listed as Copper
on BrickLink.

(3) LEGO BRIGHT YELLOW = BrickLink Yellow

(4) LEGO METALLIC SAND YELLOW = BrickLink Flat Dark Gold

https://www.flickr.com/photos/126975831@N07/14908616158/

(5) LEGO BRIGHT RED = BrickLink Red

(6) LEGO SILVER = split between BrickLink Pearl Light Gray *and* BrickLink Flat
Silver

https://www.flickr.com/photos/126975831@N07/15076958255/

(7) LEGO BLACK = BrickLink Black

(8) LEGO WARM GOLD = BrickLink Pearl Gold

https://www.flickr.com/photos/126975831@N07/15211982695/

(9) LEGO NEW DARK RED = BrickLink Dark Red

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, LEGO only used nine colors to make the part. However, BrickLink inventories
list 11 colors. Why the difference? Because the Flat Silver ones and Pearl Light
Gray ones are considered the same color according to LEGO, and the Metallic Gold
ones are not really Metallic Gold but some varitaion of Pearl Gold. In other
words, there is a lot of work that needs to be done on BrickLink to fix up some
of the colors and inventories.

In any case, browse through the pictures above and see which one closest matches
your swords.

HTH,
Randy
