The handle can be pulled out

Thanks, you're absolutely right. Now that this part can be disassembled,
shouldn't it have an inventory consisting of three parts?

/Jan

It could have, not should have

But yes, it is possible. Though I have never found the separate parts of this
part and the separate parts are not used in any other part.

You could issue the parts and wait if it gets accepted.

Would you be willing to submit an inventory for this set if I delete the current
inventory?

Yes, of course.

Please note, both versions of the tiles DO exist. All tiles are valid.

Oh, I don't disagree with both versions existing. I have serious doubts
that both versions came in this set, though.

BTW, do you have the red storage tray which came with the set? Can you submit
it to the catalog?

Yes, I have. Submit it as new part?

We need to hold up on these changes for a moment. I have some observations.

Admin inventoried this set based on Set Box/Picture. The set box and picture
both show the larger tiles. Why are we adding the large tiles as alternates
instead of regular? Is there any evidence this set ever actually came with the
tiles now shown as regular?

Also, that's a large number of match IDs. If there really were two different
sets, then we should probably just make a new set entry.

Here's what I think happened: Dan got this inventory wrong. Here's what
I think we should do about it: delete the inventory and start over again.

It seems like this proposal is not to aid buyer(s) but to overcome a limitation
as seller.

Just thinking outloud:
Selling new items, and as seller you want availability of all items/colors in
your store all the time for all buyers? Correct? So I would say just add more
stock. But your own resources (to add more stock) are likely limited, as seller
you cannot add indefinitely. So, to overcome this limited resources issue, the
solution is to shove the limitation on to the buyer(s)... somehow...

I guess in a way this is always the case, either by limiting lots, or raising
prices, or other means

In Suggestions, Teup writes:
Funny you should say that, I logged on to BO just now and found that a Chinese
guy has bought out 2 lots Now my store offers round 1x1 plates in all colours
except trans clear

I don't have a proper workaround, because the remarks option makes my inventory
appear smaller than it is. That's not good for my administration and inventory
management. You could list separate lots, but I don't know, seems rather
tedious to me. There could be some alternatives I haven't thought of, if
you have any let me know

In Suggestions, patpendlego writes:

Also... technically, wouldn't there be many easy ways to simply go around
this 'restriction'? I don't know... just a thought... aren't
you just trying to influence something which is just an idea in your head but
has nothing to do with reality?

I think I would not use this option.

Enjoy,
Arnoud

I would really like to see a new parameter for lots that limits the amount a
buyer can buy of a certain part in any one order. The part would then turn up

It's something that many online stores use, notably also LEGO themselves.

So far the way to do this is to offer the desired max amount, put in remarks
how much is left, and put the item on retain. This has several drawbacks, most
of all:
- You have to manually reoffer and modify the remarks all the time
- You cannot see or accurately modify the price and other stats of your inventory
because part of the amount of what you have is hidden in remarks

This could all be solved by 1 simple extra field, that is left on 0 when unused.

Of course, the item should not appear updated for users that still have an order
that has not yet reached the packed status. Of course buyers can buy again after
that, but separate shipping and handling fees should be sufficient to bar the
effect of buyers blowing sudden holes in your inventory.

recognize it?

Never seen this brick with just 2 pins, or any other 1x6 with just 2 pins.

First idea is that the pins have broken off, but then I saw you are from Denmark.
How close to Billund are you? Over the years there have come a lot of parts from
Denmark, which look out of the ordinary but still are original Lego. Test bricks
from TLG. Or parts made for Legoland. Or for employees. Or... any number of reasons
might be valid.

E.g. 5 years ago I purchased this sign from a Danish seller. So far only 1 has
surfaced (on BrickLink). There are more examples, this is just one.

I’d say:
upper left = a mix of flat silver (shiny) and DBG (not shiny)
upper right = metallic silver
bottom middle = LBG

You're right, the upper left contained still 2 LBG. Thanks for pointing that
out!

The bottom middle is not LBG, I'm certain (well 99%) so could it be Pearl
Light Grey?

The fact the parts are round makes it difficult to see which are shiny because
they are new and which are shiny because they are silver.

True. And used parts can be discolered... giving a multiple of shades...

Hey!!

There are many parts available in colors that never came in sets.
How and why these came on the market anyway I don't know.

Your DG items look like Lego to me.

Busy uploading bunches of parts when I came across 4x 4095, but they are in Dark

According to the catalog, this part has never been released in DG.

Where does this piece come from? Is it real Lego? I have not found any fake lego
in the bunch.

Thanks!

Why not give the user control about what they want to see?

This is a good idea. You could visit a set inventory and click buttons to see
the set as it appeared new or see it as it should appear used.

It is not a matter of new or used. But I like hte idea. Perhaps it should
toggle between set inventory WITH or WITHOUT assemblies. Like when parting out
a set the system has an option for parting out minfigs as well, or not.

The unfortunate problem is that it would likely take a significant amount of
programming. The BL programmers are working on their own projects and I doubt
this would be a priority for them. Could it be done? Yes. Would we see it
sometime within the next 10 years? Possibly.

The issue of part assemblies has been ongoing for over a decade. I see no reason
why we can't get it fixed right now.

Also, changing the options for viewing inventories doesn't really address
at all the issue of where we should stop with part assemblies.

As used-parts collector and seller I see it as follows:

Assemblies.

Assemblies, found as used, may have damage or discoloring on one part while the
other part is good; in general I prefer to disassemble assemblies as much as
possible (like wheel/tire, hinges, etc.) and list each part seperately, therefore
I would prefer to see each individual part available in the Catalog, and as such
listed in Set-inventories.

So in general from my perspective, as used-parts collector and seller, I have
little need for assemblies, except if dissassembly would unrepairably damage
some or all of the parts, like stickered parts, or most likely damage some of
the assembly, like the 3149- and 3324-series hinges, and maybe some wheel/tires,
in which case I do not take them apart, and list them as assembly if that is
available. Although listing them as one part (e.g. the wheel) and mentioning
in the description that it includes the other part (the tire) often works just
as well.

Counterparts.

I have no objection at all to counterparts, nor to assemblies as counterparts.
Counterparts are usefull imo, and with respect to assemblies like stickered over
parts very much desirable.

Like the mentioned hinges however, these could be listed as Superlot in the store,
but then they would not be visible in set-inventories, so I would prefer these
as assembly-counterparts.

Another example of parts that could be an assembly but not neccessarily are below,
it is almost similar to stickered over parts, but not entirely, because these
can be disassembled, however the upper- and lower-pattern on various bricks often
do NOT line-up and I am quite happy when I find two bricks with matching print.
Superlotting these works fine though, on the rare occasion I have these bricks
at all.

In LEGO, StormChaser writes:
There has been inconsistency for many years regarding when part assemblies should
or should not be included as counterparts in set inventories. I believe this
has been due to not having written standards regarding this issue. Therefore,
I'd like to create some.

As part of the discussion and decision-making process I'm seeking input from
the community on how you'd like to see part assemblies handled in inventories.
I have updated this page to include my idea of one way to handle assemblies
(see the section titled Additional Information About Counterparts: Part Assemblies
as Counterparts
):

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=1562

This rule is currently just my idea and no inventories are being changed right
now in regards to that section.

If that's the route we go, then it would mean the removal of certain parts
as counterparts from set inventories. These are some examples of parts which
would likely be removed from inventories because they don't comply with the
rule:

Part No: 40243c02 Name: Stairs Spiral Steps 8 with Support
*
40243c02 (Inv) Stairs Spiral Steps 8 with Support
Parts: Stairs

Part No: 91049c02 Name: Minifigure, Utensil Barbell Weights with White Bar
*
91049c02 (Inv) Minifigure, Utensil Barbell Weights with White Bar
Parts: Minifigure, Utensil

Part No: 37702pb01c01 Name: Minifigure, Utensil Suitcase with Gold Clasps Pattern
*
37702pb01c01 (Inv) Minifigure, Utensil Suitcase with Gold Clasps Pattern
Parts: Minifigure, Utensil, Decorated

Part No: 33172c01 Name: Carrot with Bright Green Top (33172 / 33183)
*
33172c01 (Inv) Carrot with Bright Green Top (33172 / 33183)
Parts: Food & Drink

Those parts would join other existing parts in the catalog which are not connected
to any set inventories:

Part No: 30163c01pb01 Name: Container, Coffin with Tan Mummy Relief Colorful Pattern Lid (Sarcophagus)
*
30163c01pb01 (Inv) Container, Coffin with Tan Mummy Relief Colorful Pattern Lid (Sarcophagus)
Parts: Container, Decorated

Part No: 3937c01 Name: Hinge Brick 1 x 2 with (Same Color) Top Plate (3937 / 3938)
*
3937c01 (Inv) Hinge Brick 1 x 2 with (Same Color) Top Plate (3937 / 3938)
Parts: Hinge

Part No: 3830c01 Name: Hinge Brick 1 x 4 Swivel
*
3830c01 Hinge Brick 1 x 4 Swivel
Parts: Hinge
Marked for Deletion

Part No: 3640c01 Name: Hinge Plate 2 x 4 with Articulated Joint (3640 / 3639)
*
3640c01 (Inv) Hinge Plate 2 x 4 with Articulated Joint (3640 / 3639)
Parts: Hinge

Part No: 60592c01 Name: Window 1 x 2 x 2 Flat Front with Trans-Clear Glass (60592 / 60601)
*
60592c01 (Inv) Window 1 x 2 x 2 Flat Front with Trans-Clear Glass (60592 / 60601)
Parts: Window

The catalog entries would likely remain for any parts removed from inventories
and could still be used for buying and selling just as they are now.

The second route we could go is to include all of the existing part assemblies
in the catalog in inventories. That opens the door to many more part assemblies
being added to the catalog and to inventories. My concern with that approach
is that eventually you fill up inventories (and the catalog) with part assemblies
- especially when you consider stickered/printed assemblies, assembly color variations,
and part variant assemblies.

As an example of all the assemblies which could be added to the catalog for just
a couple of parts, see this list:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogRelList.asp?relID=13&catID=642

If going the route of inclusion in inventories doesn't open the door to new
assemblies, then we must live with inconsistencies in which parts are added as
assemblies and which are not. As an example of that inconsistency, why is the
first of these two assemblies included in inventories and there is not even a
catalog entry for the second assembly?

Part No: hngpltc01 Name: Hinge Plate 1 x 2 with Single / Double Finger (hngpltS / hngpltD)
*
hngpltc01 (Inv) Hinge Plate 1 x 2 with Single / Double Finger (hngpltS / hngpltD)
Parts: Hinge

Part No: 4275 Name: Hinge Plate 1 x 2 with 3 Fingers on End (Undetermined Type)
*
4275 Hinge Plate 1 x 2 with 3 Fingers on End (Undetermined Type)
Parts: Hinge

Part No: 4276 Name: Hinge Plate 1 x 2 with 2 Fingers on End (Undetermined Type)
*
4276 Hinge Plate 1 x 2 with 2 Fingers on End (Undetermined Type)
Parts: Hinge

LEGO parts can be assembled in a myriad of ways and there are many parts which
naturally fit together. At some point a line absolutely has to be drawn on what
is included in inventories. Where do you feel the line should be drawn?

Yes, yes, yes! I have always hated that, and it seems like a very easy fix.

Selecting the Price Guide Info column, does show the CORRECT color image,
so I agree it seems very easy to fix.

is obvious when you compare them vs the palette. Put the colors that are similar
right next to each other so it is even easier to distinguish them apart from

With the right lighting (led, or halogene) I learned Blue vs Blue-Violet, Light
Bluish Grey vs Light Grey, etc. But Brown and Reddish Brown....

The light color is much more important than the light source. Many of our light
have light in the 2800-3000 Kelvin range. That light is yellow and makes it difficult
to see the difference. Make sure you use daylight color or a more blueish color
light.

Good idea, I will try that!

Is there any chance that paired items such as wedges (left and right) would receive
their own entry in the catalog, much like the pair of minifig arms entry?

Example:

Part No: 981982 Name: Arm, (Matching Left and Right) Pair
*
981982 (Inv) Arm, (Matching Left and Right) Pair
Parts: Minifigure, Body Part

Super-lots are a pain to work with and BL buyers don't seem to read listing
notes that items must be purchased with matching side (maybe due to generating
carts from wanted lists).

Paired parts are usefull if they match a pattern of some kind, like below. The
pattern on different upper/lower bricks isn't always on the same place (by
the mm) so a matching pair is of interest to the buyer. I would support a pair-entry
for this kind of items. (Although using a superlot is doing the trick too.)

Part No: 3008p01 Name: Brick 1 x 8 with Red Cross Upper Half Pattern
*
3008p01 Brick 1 x 8 with Red Cross Upper Half Pattern
Parts: Brick, Decorated

Part No: 3008p02 Name: Brick 1 x 8 with Red Cross Lower Half Pattern
*
3008p02 Brick 1 x 8 with Red Cross Lower Half Pattern
Parts: Brick, Decorated

However, for wedges or other kinds of 'paires' which do not share a pattern
or something else I don't see the added value. They are just two items in
a set, it does not matter which ones are used they always fit.

IMO the catalog entry for paired arms is redundant, an exception. If it was deleted
I would not miss it.

Maybe an improved interface for superlots would help.

Today I have issued an add item request for this hinge without hole, as 3149ac01.
If it is accepted I will add an inventory too, with black pivot. The later version,
3149c01, has a hole in the plates to accommodate a string for crane sets. The
first being 337-2 from 1969.

In Catalog Inventories, SezaR writes:
I have three variations of these hinges. They all a hole, but the first two variations
have a smaller hole between the two studs on the first row. See my photo attached.

Do you have another variation coming with a black pivot but without that hole?

I would like to add a Black Pivot to the inventory of 3149c01 as alternate for
the Red one.

Looks as if it is not possible to add Alternates?

Part No: 3149c01 Name: Hinge Plate 2 x 4
*
3149c01 (Inv) Hinge Plate 2 x 4
Parts: Hinge
Alternates are not possible for parts and minifigures.

To do this correctly we need a new part entry, one that has a black pin. I rejected
an entry for one last year because the change to black pin seemed to be very
late and didn't look significant so I just added a note. But if it is important
to you to have black shown as a known color, then submit an entry and I'll
get it approved.

It seems not that important, only because of the Pivot. There aren't much
of these hinges with Black Pivot and I have no knowledge in which sets they occured
so it wouldn't add significant information.

The first of these hinges however had no hole in the plates, and black pivot.
Two differences thus. This might be interesting enough for a new entry. I'll
issue a request for this hinge.

Also. Changing the Note on 3149c01 would be appreciated though. It is wrong.

Maybe all trans clear 2 x 4 bricks in official sets are of the 3001old variety?
Would certainly match the release dates of those sets. Current trans 3003s are
of the 3003old variety but are listed under 3003 as per BL policy, so any 3001
trans that surfaced now would probably still be of the 3001old variety.

Hi,

A note on the following part:

Part No: 3149c01 Name: Hinge Plate 2 x 4
*
3149c01 (Inv) Hinge Plate 2 x 4
Parts: Hinge

The inventory has the following Note:
Later versions of this part had a black pivot.

However IMO this is incorrect, it's the earlier (!) versions of this part
that had a black pivot.

I have seen many of these hinges, and only the early versions of this hinge had
black pivots, all later versions have red pivot.

I don't know how to change the Note on this item, so maybe one of the Cat
Admins wants to change it? Thank you! Or tell me how to do it

Best regards,
Arnoud van den Bos

The photo makes it look like regular Orange, but I am sure you checked that.
So if it isn't regular Orange, that leaves Earth Orange and Medium Orange.
Earth Orange is the darker of the two, so I would assume it is that one:

However, I would check against Medium Orange, also, just to be sure:

Too complicated if you ask me.

I think the Catalog will be, or needs to be, generic when it comes
to variants simply because it is sometimes unknown exactly or too much detailed
to add all variants. Much like it is now.

However, the seller has a specific item in hand. Now what does s/he wants
to do?

a) List the generic item as compliant with the Catalog? No problem.

b) List the item as specific? With this specific listing of this item
the seller needs to be able to select specific alternatives from those available
in the Catalog for this item.

The buyer then can check the inventory for this specific listing, and
s/he sees either the generic inventory from the Catalog, or the alternatives
selected by the seller.

This way the Catalog does not need to be changed. It is the listing of the seller
that needs additional functionality.

Call the tax office and ask how to handle this: they might just tell you to use

to you.

You might pay a bit more VAT, but it also saves you a lot of administration &
therefore a lot of time.

Hth,
Arnoud

Bit more VAT? If I paid VAT on used items by the normal rules (paying 27% on
sale price) I'd lose huge amounts of money as I can't reclaim VAT on purchases
from private sellers. (As they obviously can't provide one with legit receipts
showing VAT.)

If in a quarter year I bought used Lego for 1000 EUR and sold used Lego for 1200
EUR I'd have to pay the following VAT:
- 200 EUR *0.27 by the margin rule
- or 1200 EUR *0.27 by the normal rules with showing VAT in prices with no possibility
to reclaim any VAT on my purchase costs.

Seems to me you are making much more than 200 euro on 1000?
Like 500 or 600?
The difference is much smaller then.

But indeed with 27% VAT ... that is quite high

You might pay a bit more VAT, but it also saves you a lot of administration &
therefore a lot of time.

Because of the different VAT rules a business has to apply, it is a little difficult
to use the VAT settingsmthat are build in in BL.
If a seller only sells new items, or only used there is no problem, but if you
do both it is a,problem.
I had some contact over this problem with admin Eric and provided him with some
information on this problem, but I guess this is not his main problem at this
moment.

But there must be more people running into this problem, so please let us hear
from you.
If more people are, experiencing this problem, there is a better change that changes
in the VAT system are made.

In Suggestions, Nagyzee writes:
Would it be possible to expand the VAT system into something more intricate?
The current one can only handle one fixed VAT percentage as far as I know which
is problematic because there can be varying VAT rates and rules resulting in
a seller not having to pay the same amount of VAT on all of his/her goods.

Books are a good example for this, they have a reduced VAT rate in many countries.
And there are Lego books sold here so I imagine it's an actual problem for some.

Used goods are another good example causing probably even more problems. There
are special rules for the resale of used goods in many countries. For example
I don't have to pay VAT item by item on stuff I buy from private sellers (which
are thus legally used whether they are technically new or used) so there's no
VAT to be charged on EU buyers and no VAT to be deducted for non-EU ones.

I'd like to use the built in VAT feature for most of my stuff yet keep selling
used Lego, too. Will that be ever possible without some very cumbersome workarounds?

In essence what I'm asking for is the ability to specify more than 1 VAT rate
per store and then to have the ability to select the applicable VAT rate on an
item by item basis.

True, I sell books for the same rate as parts. Pay a bit more VAT but saves a
lot of hassle.

VAT for used items is quite complicated. We have had this discussion a year or
two before. There are just not enough sellers that use this, cost of implementation
is most likely not justified.

Imo it is possible already, cause I do it. But indeed with workarounds in my
own financial administration. The BL system for VAT can't handle it so I don't
use it.

The Catalog itself is hierachical including the items, which is the main cause
of items being put into one place/category only. It is plain top-down.

There should be a division between Items and the Catalog. Items are just put
in a big list/file, each with their own ID. The Catalog is to catagorize, a hierarchical
or network-like structure. Items should be linkable to one or more catagories,
depending on the items specific function or usage. The function or usage should
be a feature of the link, not the item itself.

(In short)

It is just a matter of thourough data analysis, e.g. using UML. Which is probably
not (or just some) done building the current system, but not all through.

In Suggestions, mrjensmeister writes:
I couldn't find any other suggestion in the forum but I apologize if I missed
it.

My suggestion is that the catalog be setup in a Tag system rather than a hierarchy
system.

In our current system, items are put into a file, and though those files may
continue to get more and more specific, they are still filed. For that reason
we create duplicates for such things that have distinct uses. EG http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4908
and http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4908dup. I understand that us
collectors have to use such a system since we cant have all our parts in multiple
locations, but for the sake of buying and selling the tag system seems more appropriate.

The tag system would allow us to select key words that link it to specific folders.
Things like "hinge" or "windscreen" would allow half of our windscreens to be
placed in two places rather than forcing us to choose just one. In this way we
could look at every use of the "hinge brick" which at the moment is near impossible.
In this way instead of mirroring a buyers organizational structure, it becomes
an aid to their structure when it fails. This system would allow us to look for
all modified bricks and pick up hinge bricks and technic bricks as well.

I don't know exactly what was done previously to confidently declare there were
no inventory gremlins in BrickLink. But the user experience is sufficient to
indicate it is worth bringing back those features.

The above threads link to numerous inventory issues (missing or additional) from
multiple users. Based on the feedback ratings, the problems are affecting multiple
users with extensive experience. So I have difficulty blaming them all on operator
error.

I know the feature was a significant computational and storage burden. Furthermore
the previous effort found no conclusive problems or issues. But it's worth it
the investment to either identify the problems or confidently declare there is
no problem.

But it's not something you generally look for if you don't know such an item

Maybe a search in the catalog named HTF or Hard to Find, rare or whatever term
Catmin chooses?

It would be nice for me/us as seller(s) but also for the buyer that looks for
something different he/she otherwise would not find.

I think it's a nice idea, but I have one question; what would be the definition
of rare?

I think if left to individual sellers it could be open to abuse by some.

Maybe it could be automatically applied to items that are not in any set?
Or are there large quantities of these, maybe from PAB?

Try this type of search, there are 'tons' of parts not in any set

Dealing with stores with unreasonable terms
- that only become clear after being invoiced.

I would like to propose an extra simple step to the process of forming the contract:
-

step 1: - buyer clicks "complete order" (was submit order) - usually without
foreknowledge of invoice total (some stores, including mine make it clear but
a vast number do not)

step 2: - seller sends buyer invoice with demand for payment which now reveals
all the "extra's" that may have been hidden.

and the new step:- (ADD new "button" accept/decline)
step 3: - buyer either accepts invoice and makes payment, or declines - this
would give the buyer the option to not accept unreasonable fees.

Leggodt.nl does not have unreasonable fees, heck we have no fees at ALL.

However, after pulling e.g. a 400+ lot order I would not like at all the buyer
having the option to decline the invoice despite the fact that it is very reasonable:
no fees, just packaging and actual shipping cost.

Unreasonable fees should be a legitimate reason to cancel the order by the buyer
without having to face a penalty of -fb. The unreasonability should be well defined
and provable (easy: it is fact in the invoice).

The additional step of a new button is redundant imo.

Please consider this solution as I believe the only ones who would vote against,
would be stores that HAVE hidden fees.

"Extra work"? do bare in mind a buyer has spent some time forming the order,
very few fall thru (not one for me yet), they are only likely to pull out due
to unreasonable fees in the first place!
Having low prices and high added fees isn't the best business model for anybody.

I am aware of the demands from Germany - perhaps that would form the Global model?

Thank you Graham

Hmm, good point! Maybe the system should "auto logoff" after X hours of inactivity

Thanks Arnoud, that is reassuring to know.

Well, this is only if the browser program has ended without "logoff". I'm not
sure what happens with the session if the browser stays running BL but there
is no activity. It depends on how BL has implemented the timeout...

Currently, the seller can do so for OIRR started by buyers only - along with
his approval of the request.
While I see the logical background (a buyer should start the request if he doesn't
want an item anymore even though it's available - sellers only should start those
requests in case an item cannot be found) the real life is a little bit different:
In order to speed up the process, I usually start OIRRs upon buyer's request
and just let them approve the request.

Therefore, returning items back to inventory can actually be required for seller
initiated requests as well and should be enabled.

In your case I read it as 1 location has new items and the other has used items?
IMO this is quite logical, I keep used and new items separate too for simple

So, with this in mind, a solution with 2 stores seems obvious to me.

(but then again I don't read the Forum all the time).

I would like to have a 2nd Splash Page; shown if the store is closed.

with one exception: if a buyer has a password to open the store then the original
(1st) Splash Page is shown again.

this way the Splash Page shown depends on whether a store is closed or open (depending
on the store settings and usage of password).

Thx,
Arnoud

Voted NO. We're selling 99% used items, but do not need any subjective qualification
system in addition.

In Suggestions, melbourne_josh writes:
The nice thing about the current condition grading system is that it's clear-cut
what you're getting. New's never been used. Used is everything else. Bricklink's
terms specify what you can expect from used parts, but there are subjective grey
areas as to when condition defects need disclosure.

I think we could add another, simple grade: ex-AFOL. Ex-AFOL LEGO would have
only ever been used by a responsible party, and as such hasn't received much
playwear - it certainly wouldn't have formed a spaceship that crashed into a
wall, been dragged along a hard floor or been exposed to a hungry dog or child.
One encounters a lot of LEGO in ex-AFOL condition on BrickLink; I'm happy to
buy and use pieces in this condition. This, of course, assumes AFOLs just build
models, and don't play with their models... at least, not in the way children
do.

Used elements that have an unknown or non-AFOL provenance (ex-child, ex-yard
sale, ex-auction site) would get graded "other"; I'd prefer to steer away from
these pieces. I'd imagine all existing Used parts would be shifted to this condition,
with the sellers upgrading as needed.

The existing New condition would continue to be traded as is.

Hint:
Always pick the items from physical inventory with the EXACT same number as on
your order.

It can't go wrong that way.

Your problem seems to be that you have parts 'b' and 'c' not explicitly marked
in your physical inventory thus prone to errors. This should not need to be solved
by BL, you could already solve it yourself right now.

Hth,

  Good morning.

I would like to see parts that have a 'b' or 'c' marked on all of the elements!

That may make the job of pulling like elements easier.

I am not sure if this has been suggested before, but it would be nice to have
some kind of marker on the order that there is a very similar if not identical
item with a 'b' or 'c' that exists.

I am sure this is not a problem for the more experienced sellers!

But it would be VERY nice for people who do not know about those slight differences!

LEGO on!

No, not as required. If anything, it could be voluntarily like an additional
status for 'verified seller' or something.

In Suggestions, locutis writes:
BrickLink should setup a system where a seller would need to have a credit card
to sell on BL, and BL charges the seller a small amount (say $5) to setup the
store, and activate it, and verify the seller's information that is on BL against
the credit card.

The $5 would offset any costs associated with checking names/addresses. Once
BL has a card # and a charge on it, they can verify the name and address to the
card, and they know that they are dealing with a real person, at a real address.
Or, maybe make this an option, and have a store icon that shows that the seller
is verified.

Or, perhaps make this a requirement only if the seller wishes to sell high value
products, or lots of items valued at a high value.

I would gladly do this for my store, to show that I'm legit and serious about
selling.

Locutis
Resistance is futile.

Voted YES. Comments must be the same, I like to emphasize that since Leggodt.nl
has many items (bricks, plates, etc.) listed multiple times with the comments
different only. Describing characteristics like 'pat pend', 'pat pend obscured',
'part id', etc.

In Suggestions, bsohn writes:
I suggest that the admin create a system for forced consolidation of multiple
identical lots.

This system would under maintenance and uploading of new items to a store front
ONLY (Stockrooms exempt until an item is moved to your storefront) force the
consolidation of items if...

1. The Part basics are the same (part, color, condition, ect)..
2. For Sale Price is the same..
3. Comments are the same.. (remarks since they are seller comments maybe should
be combined)
4. My Cost would become a calculated average cost between the consolidated lots.

This should eliminate a large portion of duplicate lots..

In addition maybe for lots with slightly different pricing and or comments have
a alert message appear indicating that you will be creating a duplicate lot and
give you some options to consolidate if you wish.

Anyway vote away..

Hi Arnoud

What would happen when it's in your inventory, admin send you a e-mail about
it ??

Ore is there a blank in your inventory ??

Jonathan just from Holland too

On my BL inventory the item is simply re-numbered, no problem.

It is just my 'backoffice' local administration (in Excel) that has the old number,
and it needs to be updated. An e-mail won't do it always, because not all items
are in my BL inventory.

I am tired of looking in stores to find Minifigs that are missing parts -- Particularly

Suggestion:

A) Add complete/incomplete to minifig listings -- this might be too large of
a change - not sure how hard this would be.

OR

B) Make a rule that ALL minifigs MUST be complete as inventoried. Otherwise
they should be listed as their component parts.

OR

C) Make a rule that ALL incomplete minifigs must have the phrase INCOMPLETE included
in the comments so that they can be excluded from searches somehow.

Hi,

I would like a conditional MACRO for the ORDER BATCH NO in the Order Notification
mail, like this:

{text to show}

where value could be 1, 2, etc.

this would allow me to show different text for the 1st batch and consecutive
batches.

e.g. the first batch could show text with a thank you for the order, general
information like please wait for invoice etc. The consecutive batches could show
text with a thank you for the addition, etc.

Thank you,
Arnoud

We are trying to grow our online business to get to around 200-300 per week average
year round.

We need coupons/promotions/specials/cheap product to accomplish this.

Aren't there any other options? Like improved service, or lean&mean conditions?

And yes, the economy in the USA is shot. That does not translate to better prices
on LEGO products (which I would love if it did).

Yes, this is bad indeed. I've seen a doc about LA, wow. High tops, deep falls.

We would like to see an option to put a standing coupon for returning customers.

Not a 'spam style' coupon per say, but maybe something on the order of;

Return customers get a 5% off their order coupon.

Lower your prices by 5% and charge new customers a fee, same effect

Saves all the hassle with coupons... and no need to wait for this to get implemented,
which could take a year or ten or ...

It would be nice to reward returning customers without having to go through every
one and post a coupon (time consuming)

Any other ideas would work as well.

2nd idea;

Really do not want to send emails to all clients, but it would be nice to be
able to mass coupon people (like mass feedback).

Maybe something without notification?

Voted YES of course. It is normal statistics procedure to remove hi/lo values
from large enough ranges of numbers to obtain a better average. It does not work
for small ranges, so there should be e.g. at least X values available to remove
hi/lo values. (X = 10, X = 100 )

Please implement an OPTION to allow members to have the highest and lowest prices
removed when calculating Price Guide averages for any items with ten or more
Price Guide entries. The purpose of this suggestion is to prevent most extreme
pricing anomalies from corrupting and distorting Price Guide averages - averages
which many sellers use to price their goods and decide which sets to purchase
and part out.

Removing these extreme data points is a long proven statistical tool for improving
the accuracy of averaging.

This suggestion is offered in conjunction with or as an alternative to the currently
pending suggestion to incorporate median prices in the Price Guide. Personally,
I don't care which of these two suggestions are implemented. I just hope at least
one of them is implemented soon. Whatever is easiest and best in Admin's opinion.

"No personally identifying information - Do not include any e-mail address or

The policy seems a bit too strict on the personally identifying information.
Interpretation of the current policy is open for debate, though the moderators
follow it to the letter.

I propose that it be modified to be "No Personally Identifying Information of
any BL Member." Outside corporation addresses, phone numbers, etc can be be
informative and very useful. The moderators would still have final say on anything
that is borderline on the updated policy.

Thank you for considering the change.
