What does "active elements only" mean? For white bricks 2x? it results in no
change in the listings when selected.

That parts list includes ancient bricks from the 1950s which are no longer purchasable.
I would assume these parts would be removed from the list when "active elements
only" is selected.

Where is the functionality documented? What does it mean?

When I check white 2x bricks, it changes from 896 to 859.

When looking at another category with fewer parts (Plant, Tree), I noticed that
the two parts that was removed did not have any stores selling it.

Therefore, I concluded that "active elements only" means that at least one store
sells that part.

It's a part of XP (v3) with no documentation.
The XP help center also links to the Studio forum instead of a XP help page.

I would suggest staying with the Classic BrickLink (v2).

In Packing Dimensions, xdennisma writes:
Thanks for the quick reply! However, I thought I already had this restriction
enabled, yet selecting this field on the Inventory screen does not bring up any
parts (yes, I do have several parts in inventory that exceed 2cm.)

Filtering by IC unavailable will only show parts:
-that are set to a manual package type, or
-if the weight is missing (if set to weight bound), or
-if any of the dimensions are missing (if set to volume bound).

To clarify, for my Store Settings, under the Shipping tab in the "Restrictions
and Adjustments" section for my main shipping option, I have a Max Dimension
of "2cm" showing for the middle "(h)" field.

This dimension is used to calculate the max volume of a package.

To complicate your search, looking at just the height of a part to see if it's
more than 2 cm will not give you what you want. You need to exclude any part
where any of the three dimensions is less than 2 cm.

For example, a 1x6x5 panel will show in your search as it is more than 2 cm in
height. but the system realizes the panel can lie down. In other words, it looks
at the smallest of the dimension fields to determine "volume" height.

To complicate things, the dimensions listed in the inventory don't follow
the package restriction dimensions of w x h x d.

Parts follow d x w x h:
DimX = Depth (shortest of the two horizontal dimensions)
DimY = Width (longest of the two horizontal dimensions)
DimZ = Height (vertical dimension)

Minifigures and sets use w x h x d (as if it is standing up)
DimX = Width
DimY = Height
DimZ = Depth

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2510

Is there any other way of adding in the height restriction to this shipping option,
to align with what you proposed?

I have the following set for package restrictions for my lettermail shipping
method:
37 cm(w) x 1.85 cm(h) x 26 cm(d)
I use slightly smaller dimensions than allowed by Canada Post to account for
packaging.

I only add a remark if the part is close to the max thickness allowed with lettermail.

----------------------------------
With regards to Packing Type setting: Weight Bound should be used for parts that
are approximately 2 x 2 x 2 cm and smaller.

From Admin Russell: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1342842
One aspect of the system that is not widely known or understood is the effect
of packing dimensions on weight bound items - these are small parts. Even though
an item is weight bound and will not cause a direct issue with size, when the
volume calculation is performed at the end of the process, packing dimensions
are used to calculate the total liquid dimension (volume). Small parts containing
a lot of empty space may trigger a volume issue even though the weight was within
the limits.

Since I track all packages for my small store, is there a message template (or

mark the order as RECEIVED. It would still be their responsibility to mark it
complete.

When Bricklink sent out the designer sets, they changed the status.

Thank you, Lisa

The seller doesn't have the ability to mark it received anymore.

Once set to shipped, your options are packed, shipped or completed.

Ah - I don't think you can edit the order once the status has been set to

The buyer has up to 7 days to change it back.
Ask your buyer to change it back and then you can cancel

he wanted to cancel the order.

I have no problem with this, so I refunded the total amount back to him via PayPal.
But now, since the order is marked "paid," in Bricklink, can the order be canceled?
I don't see where that's an option.

Go to edit order (between the order ID and date). The icon looks like two pieces

On that page you can change the payment status from completed to none.
Then go here to cancel the order

of the Architect House in the Studio Creation Session, I mean in BL format to
create a Want List? TY

Technically no. It is set to display only.
But the instructions are available, so you can build it using the instructions.
At the end, you can then upload the finished model to a wanted list.

As it was originally created in Studio, there is a chance that some parts may
not be available in the colour in the instructions.

What I've done is look into the preferences to find the shortcut codes and
get to know the ones you use the most.
You can even change or add your own shortcut code.

If I'm building something from scratch, I've assigned the Z key to add
a step.
That way every time I add a part, I can click on Z and the next part goes to
the next step.

Get used to building using sub-models.

You can also make instructions using the step editor and working "backwards".
Work from the finished MOC and when selecting parts, use move to step after.
This removes the part from the current view. Rinse and repeat until you've
reached the first step/part.

Contact the buyer to check the address.
Double check to see if the address on the package is correct. You may have transposed
a number.
Also, check Google maps to see yourself if it exists.

Import the MOC to a BrickLink wanted list via XML.

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=1

Then follow these instructions in Studio.

https://studiohelp.bricklink.com/hc/en-us/articles/6483161921303

You will have to build the MOC yourself in Studio.

The dedicated forum for Studio and PartDesigner is https://forum.bricklink.com/
(hover over the red Studio icon on every page, then click “Studio Forum”).

What is wrong with the formatting of the list exactly? I've noticed its an

Remove the first line and try again.

Yes. Oops, I missed the quotes in his response.
My example was based on not using quotes in the search field.

The catalog search has a list of keywords which are excluded from searching.
Yet some of those keywords are being used in catalog titles, and are essential
when trying to locate a catalog entry.

As an example

4623b Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with Bar Arm Up (Horizontal Arm 5mm)

‘Up’ is used in the title, but that same keyword is being excluded from searches.

The suggestion is to synchronize the exclusion with the inclusion of certain
words.

Thank you

Titles are there for more than just searching. Plus you can search for "arm up"
so removing up from the title would break that.

I think they are saying to remove some words from the keyword exclusion list.
And of course keep them in titles.

If you use the advanced search page, “up” from “arm up”, would be excluded. It
is not excluded from the standard search page/box at the top of every page.

As you just started selling here, you don't need to collect GST/HST or QST
until you have sales of more than $30,000 per quarter (unless you have sales
elsewhere putting you over the limit).
https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/businesses/topics/gst-hst-businesses/when-register-charge.html

You may register for a GST/HST account, but why put yourself through that misery.
Same goes for QST in Quebec.
Shortly, BrickLink will start to collect taxes for you.

You still have to declare sales as income on your tax return though.

Baby steps.
They have to start somewhere.

Wrong tack, Johan.

The idea of “baby steps” or advance in progression should not apply to this type
of implementation. There should be no “baby steps” in addressing this particular
and inevitable factor for the individual vendor. Get it ready thoroughly and
in advance, then launch before the mandated date. Should never be a beta type
of launch, when fiscal obligations to one's government is on the chopping

I imagine getting audited by the Canadian government would feel more akin to
having-a-baby than taking baby steps... Put more bluntly, I don't think "baby

Has anyone experienced this problem: you have a design in a Stud.Io file. You
upload it to Bricklink so that its parts go into your wanted list so you can
order them (let's say for the sake of argument you have none of the parts
in the design on hand already, so you need to order everything - this was the
case for me). You place your order(s), and when the parts arrive you find certain
parts are missing - not because the seller made a mistake, but because the missing
parts were never included in the order!

Example: my newest build was missing a specific minifig torso, six 1x1 light
blue gray plates and one dark blue gray 1x1 technic brick (I needed 5 of those,
but for some reason only 4 were loaded into the wanted list and ordered). All
the parts were specifically in the Stud.io file, but they didn't make it
to the ordering stage and with so many parts they got overlooked.

Is there a way to prevent this, especially with large orders where its easy to
overlook something? Why would Bricklink skip them? Is there maybe a setting clicked,
or not clicked, during the automatic buying process?? Remedying this problem
cost me an addition $11 tonight, mostly due to shipping costs, and I'm tired
of having to spend extra money for missing parts. It's bad enough if I forget
something on my own, but BrickLink shouldn't be forgetting FOR me!

Apply the order to the wanted list.
The apply order button is at the top right in the wanted list.
Choose more options and then filter the list by Hide Items if Have Qty is ≥ Want
Qty.
this should give you the missing parts if it uploaded properly.

First, did you register on the help desk site.
It is separate from the normal BrickLink login and requires its own login registration.

Second, If you settled the NSS, did you ask the affected buyer to cancel them.
Wouldn’t this be the easiest way to get rid of the NSS?

There is another way then refunding and re-invoicing.

1. Set the payment to none from received. If it set to anything else, you may

2. Add the shipping costs
3. Put what the buyer has paid in the credit field.
4. Re-invoice

Did we miss something?

I’ve found that when you have an OIRR or canceled order, the parts go back to
your inventory but are listed under Stockroom A.
Take a look there and you’ll probably find it.

  Hi,

I'm having an issue ordering from the Wanted List. I have a variety of colours
to buy but I'm having trouble find them. I thought I'd change the colour
to black or white and see if my Wanted List issue is colour related. I tried
to select the whole list but warning note says you can only change 1 item.

Is there a way to change the colour of all items in in a Wanted List in one go?

The only way your issue is colour related is if the part doesn't exist in
that colour.

If you still want to try to change the colour, use the following (but skip ahead
to the wanted list primer below first):
1. Click the checkbox for the part you want to change the color
2. Click the Color button

Careful though. This won't work if the colour already exists in that wanted
list. In that case you need to do it manually.
Also, if you need to keep some in the original colour, you need to add the new
colour manually and adjust the quantities.

Here is a wanted list primer:
Please see this help page:

Check out these great posts by SylvainLS

You can also select which country you want to order from.
Using the info in the above posts you will be able to see which parts you can't
get.

Good luck

  Hello,

My store was closed July 2021 for non-payment of fees ($11 balance was paid 1
month late, I was on vacation). I would like to re-open my store but no one
seems available or willing to answer help desk tickets.

Any way I can get an assist on this?

Thanks!

Bricklink really needs to hire more people to handle the help desk & actually
communicate with the community, as it stands right now it's just a waiting
game; they expect sellers to be prompt and on time with everything, meanwhile
tickets sit unresolved for weeks, if not months

The fact that there are posts like this every other day is enough justification
and proof that the current system they have going on isn't working; you'd
think that things would improve now that Bricklink is owned by Lego, which is
a billion dollar company with a huge ability to fund things, but it seems to
have stayed the same, or maybe even gotten slightly worse; I know Lego said things
wouldn't change once they took over, but I didn't expect them to be so
literal about it

I know the Admins are humans and they can only do so much, but that's also
a sign things need to be improved and that the workload is too much for the current
employees - just hire 2 - 3 more people to work on the support/public relations
side of things and communicate with the userbase more often & get feedback on
things rather than being radio silent

I obviously don't know the innerworkings of BL, but I've been using the
site long enough to understand some things need to be smoothed out

Should they hire some volunteer admins (like cat and forum admins) to help run
the help desk?
Might get some of the mundane easy stuff out of the way faster.

In Problem Order, bell.shaun writes:
  Hello guys,

I am buyer from Taiwan and rather new to Bricklink. I ordered some bricks from
a USA seller in May 2022 and paid with USPS Priority Mail International Parcels
with insurance. The seller sent the package, but somehow the package was never
delivered. By checking the tracking with the number that the seller provided,
it’s very clear the package was sent to the wrong country and returned to the
seller after 4 months. (The seller also said he got the package back and everything
is intact.)

As I really want the bricks, I asked the seller to re-send the package. But the
seller said if I want him to re-send the order, I will have to pay for the shipping
again. I want to make sure BrickLink’s policy on this. I can understand it’s
not his fault, but USPS’s fault. But I thought with any business, it should be
seller’s duty to make sure the goods were sent the right way, no? He said the
USPS employee told him that “I” (not him) could get the shipping cost back through
insurance. Isn’t his duty to get the shipping refund as the seller? And since
the USPS didn’t fulfill their duty to send the package to the right destination,
doesn’t this mean the seller is a “Non-Shipping Seller” in Bricklink? (As the
tracking showed the package was not even in my country at any time.) Should I
just file NSS? The seller said he’ll look into the insurance this weekend, but
he has been very slow in responding to my messages. I am not sure if he really
wants to take care of this order. Should I keep waiting and see if he’s willing
to re-send the package? What should I do?

Thank you very much for your help.

Insurance is there for the benefit of the seller.
He should be checking with USPS and file a claim with them to at least get the
shipping cost back.

That being said, he should still ship it to you at his expense as it is not your
fault. This doesn’t have to wait for the claim to go through.

I would wait until Tuesday, and if no reply from him, file an NSS as he still
has the parcel and hasn’t shipped it to you.

In the meantime, you can create a wishlist for the items and see if you can get
it elsewhere.

Don’t wait too long, as the order will be purged after six months.

Try uploading it directly from Studio.

When uploading a file, it should tell you the problem part. Usually it’s a part

You have to put your max prices in each wanted list.
Then when you go to a store, and search by wanted list it will show your max
price underneath each listing. It will be in red if your price is lower.
If you use buy all from your wanted list, you can select exclude Lots over max
price.

Spanish Ciervo = Deer

"The mighty Elk shield" does sound better than "The mighty Deer shield".

I would say it's a Cervus elaphus (Red Deer)

Yeah in Spanish that would be this case.

That being said, all elk are deer, not all deer are elk.

All this might be a translation issue probably from Danish to English.

Elk in Danish is Elg, which Google translates back to moose to avoid the above.
Deer is hjort.

It would be interesting to know what the Danish Language instructions say.

I couldn't download the Danish language instructions, it kept defaulting
to Canadian English for me, even with a VPN extension.

"The mighty Elk shield" does sound better than "The mighty Deer shield".

I would say it's a Cervus elaphus (Red Deer)

That being said, all elk are deer, not all deer are elk.

As a seller, apparently I accidentally set an order status = "Complete" (instead

Is there a way to undo setting of order status from Complete?

Not by you.
You can ask your buyer to change it back for you.

When they updated XP in 2020, they changed how sellers could adjust the order
status.

From https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1198619 by Admin_Russell

2. Order completion

a. When a seller sets an order as completed, it becomes "Awaiting completion"
status and it won't be finalized until it gets purged or confirmed by the
buyer on XP. It shows asompleted on BrickLink Classic.

No, but you can fill in the shipping information and send the invoice to the
buyer with the caveat that the buyer can cancel the order with no problem.

Unlike a quote, the order will take the parts out of your inventory.

  Howdy,

Has anyone else noticed a difference in prices depending upon which way you access
the site?

Specifically, I looked up a part using a browser via PC indicating the 6 month
average price was ~$23, however when I looked it up via my phone which used the
mobile version (beta site) it indicated the price at ~$13 which I think we can
all agree is a massive difference.

Baron

What was the part?
Knowing that we may be able to recreate the problem.

Easy answer is to not use the mobile version, which I'm assuming to be XP.
Check the URL. If it has v2, it's the legacy site. If it has v3, it's
XP.

It could also be that it is showing worldwide average on one, and local (USA)
average on the other.

What I do is put the seller's name in the remarks field, and then when it
arrives, I know what MOC it's for. Just delete the remarks field afterwards
in case you order from that seller again.

The remarks field is searchable using the wanted list search page. Search by
the seller name and it will show the parts with that name in the remarks field.

Can you please advise how to set up it? Or can somebody create it?

It could be very helpful for EU Buyer Country and VAT rate determination on the

Thank you.

The “Buyerlocation” macro tag doesn’t exist.
You would need to use “BUYERADDRESS”.
Just change the quotes to the less than and greater than signs for the macro
tag to work. If you put them in a forum message it doesn’t show it.

The invoice should already have this tag in it.
I also thought that VAT was automatically applied.

This is a caution to those seeing an error when refunding buyers through BrickLink.

I just tried to partially refund a buyer and received an error stating "Something
went wrong. Please try again."
Knowing about errors with some comments, I then tried to again with a shorter
comment and received the same error.
I then tried to again without a comment and received the same error.

The order did not have the refund listed on the order, so I went to PayPal to
refund from there.
The three refunds were listed in PayPal!
When I returned to BrickLink, the three refunds were then listed on the order.
At least the refund was only for $1 (each).

Refunding should be easier than this.
At least there wasn't a tax portion on this refund, I don't know if the
tax portion would be processed correctly if going directly through PayPal.

Offsite payment methods (including IBAN) are available only by special permission

payments. Exceptions may be made in countries which do not accept PayPal or other
common onsite methods.

Yes you have to refund the buyer "manually".

Open the order and click on "Issue Refund" on the second line.

This will open the Issue Refund page.

You don't have to fill anything in the details box. If you do, don't
use any special characters or it will fail the refund.

1. It's asking me "Select the Account / Party who will pay or has pre-paid

2. It's asking me for "Tax Type". what do I select?

3. It's asking me for a "Tax I.D." Whose I.D. is that? Bricklink's?

4. It's asking me for "Export Data". What is that, and where do I find it?

I appreciate any help for Canadian Sellers who have already dealt with this process.
Thank you.

This is what I've used with no problems:

1. Receiver
2. Leave Blank
3. Leave Blank
4. Leave Blank

Under Product Info:
Description: Plastic Toy Parts
HS Code: 9503.00.00
Origin: If you are sending a set, look at the seal to find where it was made.
See here to find the country codes: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1304582
If you don't have the box and it is a recent set, you can put Mexico, if
it is an older set or parts you can put Denmark.

If this had been an order shipping to the EU, the "Tax Type" would have been
IOSS, and then the next line would be where you would put the IOSS number.

If you are wondering what the Export data field is:
AES is the American Automated Export System
FTSR is the American Foreign Trade Statistics Regulations
B13A is a Canadian export declaration for goods over $2000. Not applicable for
shipments going to the USA

USPS has never initiated tracking on the package. Can I assume that the package
is in a crate either at seaport in Germany, German airport, waiting until it
can fill the crate to ship the crate to NYC?

This is one of the longer delays on any package from Europe I have seen. Typical?

Could it be a USPS problem?

The last three orders from Germany took four days to get to me.
My last Pick a Brick from Denmark took three days after I was charged for it.

Since you have already refunded the money via Stripe, you have to update the
order saying you refunded the money to the buyer first (upper right on the order
summary). This resets the order to ready or pending from paid.

Then do the OCR. https://www.bricklink.com/retractOrder.asp

I have found that the parts sometimes goes to stockroom A, so check this when
you complete the OCR.

Can a positive comment still be changed if the transaction is still not complete?
Can I still file a claim about an order after this comment has been placed?

I ordered from a seller about a month ago. A week after, the status has not changed
and I sent a message. Seller states that her children were ill. Alright, I could
understand and I was patient with that, and she was apologetic about it. It took
about ten days until she said she had already shipped it. However, she left the
status as "packed."

Two weeks later, I ask about this order and apparently, she had not shipped it
out at all. She posted the tracking info and it states that a label had just
been created! That was already two days ago!

The problem is, I will be moving out of my apartment in less than three weeks!
I informed the seller about this, and she gave no reply!

As a buyer, you should only post feedback after you receive your items and set
the status of your order to completed. You should not post feedback before you
receive your items.

You have 30 days from date of posting feedback to remove that feedback.

Click "Feedback I posted" inserting the requisite order number: https://www.bricklink.com/feedbackDel.asp
