I used to get quite frustrated with that, too, until I discovered that any one

So just click on the menu and type in what you need. The menu will go there.
Makes everything much quicker and easier.

Not enough space on the subject line! When adding a part to the catalog, we
have to scroll through every catagory in the catalog. I mostly add minifig pieces,
halfway down the list. And it is especially frustrating when the item number
I choose is already pending in the catalog and I have to scroll through it all
again. All of these categories have a number and I have considered just changing
my routine to adding the number on the pending items screen. I just haven't
done that because it feels improper to submit it without the category and I might
forget. If it were an option, that is the option I would use.

We can add pics of a pending item. Obviously that is a necessity. I inventory
a lot of minifigs and that means I am always adding items with new PCCs and torsos
that need to be inventoried and sometimes adding the minifig and its pieces to
the catalog. The catmins do a great job of moving things through, but obviously
there isn't always one at the desk! I have this routine for adding them
and I have another routine after they get approved and I try to do it promptly,
but things happen. This might not be something that generates a lot of interest
because most people don't do this stuff, but it would really streamline for
me if I could add the PCCs to pending pieces, inventory pending torso assemblies
with pending torsos, and even add the pending pieces to pending minifig inventories.
The same basic things would also help the people who tackle the sets (which
I don't usually do myself). Then when the pieces were approved everything
would just fall into place and it would be done.

Thanks. I was just joking: suggestions are always triggered by recent events,
so the people having participated in the last dispute could think you were bored
with them

By the way, you can see how many people ignore you in your My Activity page (just
above the defunct Chat subsection at the bottom), but you can’t know who they
are.

I’m of the grumbling and sarcastic but helping sort, I like to think the helping
part explains why I’m only on 7 ignore lists

if there's nothing like that i might make a suggestion to add this feature.

if such feature doesn't exist- i'd like to see one implemented, would
like the feature to be anonymous since while i might not want to see certain

Too late?

This feature already exists in Brick Seller. When parting out sets, the remarks
field will be automatically filled in with the remarks from other lots that you
have in inventory for the same part. If you have different remarks for the different
colors of the same part (let's say you have many in Black and you store them
in a different inventory location), the remarks field will be filled with the
remarks from lots that have the most colors stored in it.

On page 1 where I input the number of sets etc. - A tick box for something along
the lines of "auto add pre-existing remarks to items".

I am aware this is shown on the confirmation page but here is why this is a problem.

Some of my parts don't have any remarks because I have never had them in
my inventory. I and many others use the remarks box to input the a reference
number to their place of storage. If I have the item in my inventory I have to
either click onto a new page or wait until I go to the inventory page.

If I had this tick box on the first page, that I am suggesting, here is what
would happen.

The remarks would be filled in automatically for parts with your "default" remark.
This would occur on the same page where you can alter pricing, quantities, add
notes, etc. This would mean I can go through the part out list, add remarks easily
to new parts, store parts in their rightful places, alter quantities, etc. all
in one page.

That is a great idea. Then I don't have to do so much because I am always

I didn't think of that.

I agree! On step 3 it does show your current remarks and what you are consolidating
but it could work a bit better I believe.

I think they should have the step 2 remarks box show your current remark for
that piece and give you the freedom to change it at that point, say you need
to change the piece from a small drawer 'S109' to a free large drawer
'L82', then on step 3 it can show you if you have made a change or the
current remark if you haven't.

(My Remarks: S109) - No change
(My Remarks: S109 changed to L82) - Change to remark

How I am supposed to set prices and quantities once I place item in a list?

Depends.
If you put it from the item’s page, there are fields in the dialog.
If you want to change / add something when looking at or searching in your WLs,
you just click on the field you want to change and the WL goes in edit mode.
You go out of edit mode by clicking the “Save Changes” button that appeared
in the blue line at the bottom of the screen or by hitting the Enter key.
Or you can do batch changes with the leftmost checkboxes and the menu just above
the header (move, copy, apply colour, condition…).

How can I see what the lowest prices for a piece in a list?

Use the price guide.
Or you can show a few stores for each item if you click “More Options” (near
the “Search Wanted List” field) and then click “Show” in the rightmost column.
Don’t forget to change the sort option (stupidly defaults to store name) and
to click “Apply.”

I never have use the new one I always click on classic because it is much easier
to navigate and do what I need.

Remember when you learned how to use the “classic” one? Go the same way: try.
If you never try, you never learn.

This change remind me of Microsoft changing the
search features in the "File Explorer" or removing the Program Menu. It was never
a good Idea.

I don’t remember MS ever having had a good idea for its users.

Perhaps refer to discussion thread https://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=217888&nID=1031088.
The feature was removed and the suggestion to reenable it was discarded.

Thanks for the link. I couldn't find a related topic, but new to the board,
and didn't know how to properly browse.

It's kind of stupid they got rid of it, even worse that they won't bring
it back.

  Hi,

I guess default photographs of Minifig Heads (specifically their expressions
and facial features) are being replaced with graphics.

That is not the case. For a somewhat detailed expression of the current catalog
image policy, please see here:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=87

As stated under Preferences:

"For decorated parts (both printed and stickered) photos are preferable to renders."

I find the angled, turned-away graphics (example (a) below) notably less visually
informative than straight-on great photographs of a Minifig Head's expression
and facial features (example (b)).

Everyone is in agreement on that point. The rendered image below was contributed
in 2011 by the contributor of the original entry. If someone were to upload a
good photo of that head today, it would be replaced.

Please retain good photographs as the default image for shoppers.

If a large effort is underway to create angled, turned-away, less clear heads,
I do not understand how this loss of immediate (i.e. default) visual presentation
data constitutes a site improvement. In addition to, for example beard/brow/cheek/glasses
alignment details, a straight-on photograph also informs the shopper of a Lego
paint scheme's older or newer production art quality.

Even if the great photographs are retained as alternates to the default graphics,
BrickLink administrators are adding more process steps to get to the best information
available, which is more time-consuming for users and illogical beyond uniformity.

I can obsess by the way, and love nice shiny rows of similar thingies, but not
if such uniformity is going to make any customer process more difficult.

Lastly the type of stud is no big deal for my uses, so I do not need a partial
top-down view. I suspect this is true for most shoppers.

Apologies if my overall image transition guess is mistaken.

Thanks for listening, Matthew

Admittedly there has not been much explanation of the large scale image project
that is underway. But that will change very soon.

You can monitor new pictures coming into the catalog and see that there is no
effort going on to replace head pics with lower quality pics. While there is
an effort to replace pics of real pieces with renders, actual piece pics seem
to be preferred for minifig parts. Where you see renders on them it is because
the submitter did the easiest thing and pulled the pic from Lego.com. The catmins
accept that to get a piece in the catalog, but I often submit pics of real pieces
before long and they always replace the renders.

Please, Bricklink give us back the Paypal notifications.
Or please notify us in any way that the payment is done.

Those who have switched to Paypal Marketplace are not receiving the notifications.
Many users are complaining about that in other posts.

Yes this needs to be done.

I contacted Paypal to confirm that the emails are being sent and that Bricklink

contact has not been answered.

I changed the message template for "purchase confirmation" to include "paid with

not expect a second paypal payment confirmation email.

Message Templates can be found under store settings.

Good Idea!

Much the same way as Ebay. I'm not sure why they call it "feedback". I strive
to offer a good service & if there is a problem, I will resolve it.
Regards
Tim

My favoured solution would be feedback rating only calculated on the last 12months
transactions, with the exception of NPB/NSS which I feel should be on permanent
record.

and 1 year history, but are always kept as a permanent historical record.

Plus they get lost in recent positive feedback. So if you are a decent seller
generating positive feedback, they soon become less important.

I feel that Negative feedbacks should be purged in the same way as orders are.
Much the same way as Ebay. I'm not sure why they call it "feedback". I strive
to offer a good service & if there is a problem, I will resolve it.

If they get rid of bad, then surely they should get rid of good too? If they
didn't, then lots of recent bad history could be hidden by a high overall
number from past very good feedback.

When I check feedback, I normally look at the time breakdown. If no bad feedback
in a year (with lots of good), then I ignore any historical bad feedback. Whereas
if there is no recent feedback but a lot of past negatives, then they are important
as the store may not have changed.

I get your point about negative feedback perhaps having an influence for too
long, but I am surprised you expected negative to disappear and positive to stay.
That's distorting the past. As crazylegoman pointed out, your negative feedback
will probably exist longer than you A suggestion to make very old feedback
less prominent or influential could be good, but not this way.

I changed the message template for "purchase confirmation" to include "paid with

not expect a second paypal payment confirmation email.

There are only 2 options to pay fees onsite to paypal. Overdue amount & total
amount(Which doesn't include current months fees). Can we get an additional
option to enter our own amount? Paying directly to billing@bricklink.com does
not solve my problem, i need onsite.

Hear, hear!

The concept of the Quote Request is one of the precious few useful innovations
under the new management. However, that it can only be found and selected as
a secondary option on the last step of the checkout process is ridiculous. That
too needs to be rectified - have it as a separate path at the start of checkout,
not the end.

As well, the afore mentioned suggestion of making an option for the seller to
only allow Quote Requests will preclude the repeated bogus orders of buyers who
won't pay. They can then accept or cancel once they know the shipping, no
excuses.

Hi Bricklink,

After switching to PayPal marketplace for onsite PayPal, I no longer receive
email alerts from PayPal that I have been paid. PayPal tells me that all those
notifications now go to Bricklink. I think it Bricklink's responsibility
to pass on those notifications to your sellers. Can you please create an option
to receive payment notifications by email when a buyer has paid for their order?
This could be an option in my account settings that I either turn on or off.
I would think this would not be a huge undertaking and would make the transition
a lot smoother. Especially considering the fact that I did not read anything
about email notifications no longer working in Bricklink's communication
about enabling PayPal marketplace.

Thank you!

that much since instant checkout started. I sometimes get a "Wait for Invoice"
order and use it. But more often it is used to auto-send an invoice to someone
who clicked instant checkout and then didn't complete their payment. I guess?
These people are getting an immediate invoice that says I have packed their
order and everything is good to go, which is still what I would like to tell
the people who wait for an invoice. But I would rather have a totally different
invoice for the auto-generated ones.

I think what you describe already exists, the SHIPMETHODID-EQ block tag, right?
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/mystore/message_templates.page#/1

Actually, I would like no invoice to be sent for IC orders.

Invoices can have 3 different functions: originally, it's tax administration,
but it can also serve as payment instruction or order confirmation. Bricklink
already has both payment instruction and order confirmation, and I don't
know about others but I am doing my tax administration separately anyway because
for me BL does not generate legally valid invoices. That leaves not a single
reason for me why BL should send an invoice. I am abusing the BL invoice function
to just make its macros generate a list of data that I feed into my invoicing
software. Unfortunately, on the IC orders I don't get to delete this list,
and it is obligatorily sent to the buyer. Not very elegant.

I would really like to have the option to turn off automatic invoices. Many webstores
where I buy invoices are sent manually after payment, or after accepting and
preparing the order. I think BL should allow the same. Just as an option I mean,
so that everyone can run things the way they want.

My personal suggestion would be to do like we do at work. Throw away the bottom
and top 10% using the average of the middle 80%.

The bottom, because there are numerous stores list 1 item at less then .01 to
get people there then the remainder of the same item is about average, or above
average. Then there are those that use their store to hold items, Ive seen .05
items for "sale" at $500.00

I am asking this not to be snarky in any way, I am just wondering if maybe I

use of it.

Both are useful.

When you want to set a price on a item (buying or selling), you look at how much
similar items were sold for in the recent past but you also look at how much
it can be bought now. And how many were sold and how many are for sale now.

Say something sold for $5 last months but you can’t find some for sale below
$6 now. What help does the past sales give you? Will you wait until the price
goes below $6 again? What if that never happens?

Or the other way around, something sold for $6 but now you can easily find it
for $5. If you’re a seller, if you price it at $6, you won’t sell yours before
all the ones at $5 are sold ; and that could take a long time. And if you’re
a buyer, if you only check the sold price, you’ll be happy buying at $6 when
you could easily have had the item for $5.

All info is useful.

No. Median and quantity average are totally different notions.
(E.g. prices 2x$1, 1x$4, 1x$5, 1x$10, lot average = (1+4+5+10)/4 = $5, qty average
= (1+1+4+5+10)/5 = $4.2, median = the 3rd price = $4.)

Still, you can find the median by looking at the “raw” data and adding all the
quantities until you get to half the total quantity.

Problem is more, people desperately hang on to non weighted avg prices in stead
of their weighted qty avg.

Problem is people hanging on the price guide

I think a big issue is when someone accidentally (I assume) lists a cheap 50
pence item at £49 (or similar) by mistake, this does impact the avg greatly.
Seen it loads of times.

Interesting idea and it does solve a problem. Another method could be taking
the median rather than the mean. Or the seller could have the option to select
his default preference (eg. Median or Mean Value).

median is already there via the quantity average.
it is stupid to take out the lowest and highest because you cant cancel these,
as they are legit buyable offers.
Furthermore would you delete a part with 4.5 cent as lowest, but dont do to one
thats exactly 5 cent?

The highest parts dont have much impact on the price, because one part at 20
dollars,
is not much recognizable in a complete offer from 20000 parts from 10-15 cent.

Problem is more, people desperately hang on to non weighted avg prices in stead
of their weighted qty avg.

It's not an issue when there are only 1 or 2 but more than that and
it can get a little annoying.

You can use the Mass feedback link for 3 or more orders.

This issue was observed on Chrome, it may react differently on other browsers,
if so I would love to hear about which ones if the button works!

Thanks!

This is a bit more complicated than what I had in mind (and I am not even sure
where to access it!).
Perhaps the button on each post could be a link to this page, and a category
of “Other” could be added.

It works, but such a button would be a very useful alternative.

Voted yes! I feel like PayPal is becoming overly important on Bricklink. That's
not healthy with a commercial party. PayPal is already getting more dubious.

Please keep up the pressure. If everyone who needs to pay Sales Tax quarterly

Alas, it is not.

For those of us that collect sales tax, having that field in the order download
spreadsheet would be extremely helpful, along with the street address and city/zip
code. All of this information is required when filing sales taxes in NY.

Thank you for all you do!

exactly when this occurred, since Bricklink does not differentiate between the
original and revised versions of the part.

I think the change occurred very quickly after the Vikings theme as the only
ones I have ever found in ABS are white and from the Vikings theme.

Okay. I can see how there could be other such examples of LEGO tweaking materials
from time to time.
Anyway, I think for such little differences, a simple note should suffice (something
like “Early parts came in harder, more shiny plastic.”). There should be no
need for a doubling of all the colours with shiny/matt variants… otherwise we
could also want a new colour for each material (cloth, rubber, paint…). There
is already enough variation in parts in the “same” material and colour to make
them sometimes hard to recognize.

Regarding parts and colour entry.

It would be good if there were an entry to say whether the colour is matt or
shiny. I have to replace a part on Harry Potter Knight's bus. The original
was shiny black but the part I received as a replacement was matt.

On this particularly set it is rather noticeable so rather than have to email
each seller to ask if they have a shiny black part it would be good if it were
stated. Not sure if Lego make the distinction but it makes a difference to the
look of the set when its a visible part.

All new bricks are shiny. It’s when they are used and get lots of micro-scratches
that they become matt.

Softer materials (plants, horns…) are matt, but I don’t think there are bricks
that come in both ABS and PP or other soft plastic.

So,
either the shiny/matt clash comes from different materials and it’s useless to
differentiate “colour X shiny” and “colour X matt” on BL because no bricks come
in both shiny and matt,
or the shiny/matt clash comes from new/mint bricks vs. older/scratched bricks
and it’s a matter of asking sellers in what condition are their bricks prior
to ordering.

I understand your wish.

But if there is one thing that it is not, it is simple.

Making and old site based partly on classic ASP mobile friendly is everything
else than simple.

That is probably why they are going with an app.

Very good to know this from a Bricklink administrator!
My post has no intention to speed up the process but to find answers.
I tried to find related posts but I didn't see the post you've shared
now.

I wish you all a good job on this innovation!
I look forward to see the new mobile website.

Thank you for your work!

Clearly BrickLink is aware of the necessity of being mobile-friendly. I don't
believe a suggestion or a vote by members will speed things up any.

Nowadays the majority of online worldwide buyers are using the mobile to complete
their purchases.
For example, in China the 83% of customers are buying from a mobile device.

Benefits:
- Buyers are more satisfied and the customer experience would be increased.
- Stores would increase the number of orders received
- Bricklink would have new customers that now are potential customers but, due
to this lack are not customers yet.

The competitor "BrickOwl" has a mobile-friendly website.
But BRICKLINK you are the largest LEGO Marketplace!
Please BRICKLINK, the whole community needs a mobile-friendly site!

They are currently in development of an app. Dont know of an ETA for it yet.

Guys please, support my suggestion

I think before improving the interface, first of all a bug needs to be fixed.
This orders received display is way too wide because of all these columns. And
we cannot turn off columns such as additional charges, additional charges 2,
and insurance. I've never used insurance yet it takes up the center of the
display. These columns used to be mandatory for some mysterious reason and their
checkboxes were greyed out in "customize display", but now they have been enabled,
but modifying them doesn't do anything. You can check and uncheck them and
the orders display remains exactly the same. If this bug is fixed, we will be
able to cut down on the width of that page quite a bit, and it can bring a couple
of buttons back in sight. And it will make my list of received orders more comfortable
to look at, too.

I see now that besides this bug there's also another problem that recently
emerged. The orders pages used to have zoom levels that were independent from
the rest of the site. I remember requesting this in the past, this was done specifically
for making these pages fit. That, however, has now been undone again. All pages
have a single linked zoom level. That means you're forced to choose between
either an order list that fits but a Bricklink that's a narrow strip with
half of the screen blank, or a Bricklink that fills the screen reasonably well
but an order page that is cut off on the right side.

I can see it all if I bring the zoom down to 80% but, then of course, I can't

I did check this, thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately we do need item
number rather than item name as our inventory is sorted by part number.

So I use to post in the forum all the time. About 4 or more years ago before
the new company took over BL and changed things on here.
And it was much easier to find the POST NEW MESSAGE button than it is now. Took
me about 5 minutes to find the damn thing! That is ridiculous!

Why can't I just click on the BIG Community button at the top right on every
BL page and then on that 1st page that comes up is a BIG EASY TO FIND AND READ
button that reads: POST NEW MESSAGE!

NO, what you have to do is look at all the little buttons at the top in the grey
bar that read:
Forum, Messages, Topics, Search, Stats...
Click on Topics, click on one of those topics and in the top right corner of
those pages it says in little size font: Post New Message....

I use to be good at BL. Thanks for the frustration. I was going to post an
announcement sharing that I am only 1 feedback away from the big 5 double 0 after
almost 11 years on BL but I will probably forget how to find the Post New Message
button in the mean time.
(Why do less than half the members on BL leave feedback? I'd be over 1000
if everyone left feedback. lol. It's the same on ebay.)

James

You can click 'post' before choosing a topic. The link is on the same
bar as 'topics'.

That doesn't show on my screen at all???

I can't even screen capture my desktop to show you that the POST word doesn't
come up for me at all??? I'm confused why it's not there for me???
How can I Print Screen and then paste it in this thread?
Thanks for the help.

No need, I believe you Perhaps it's hidden by CSS because your device's
screen is a little narrow.

Mine does too, but sometimes I can't find the same message I had posted before.
I would enjoy this suggestion.

One general message thanking the buyer for the order,
One thanking new buyers and welcoming them to BL,
One thanking repeat customers.

It'd be great if we had some options at the feedback screen to just select
from 4-5 pre-set messages. Something like radio buttons for message A, message
B, message C, etc.

My browser already makes feedbacks selectable, I only have to type the first
letter.

Please could we have API access to seller's own values for DimX, DimY, DimZ.

Currently, none of the below methods return any seller's own dimension data:

UserInventory.GetInventory
UserInventory.CreateInventory
UserInventory.UpdateInventory

See picture. Why is this part blank? That's weird. Why can you only make

Suggestion: Allow fixed discounts to be conditional as well.

Hello Teup,

Not posting that I think your suggestion is invalid or that a coupon that would
just be "free shipping" (and conditional) isn't a nice idea.

It would seem like you could deal with this now though in 2 ways.

1. Do create a Domestic shipping method that is free over X amount. If you keep
it Domestic I assume it might not get used by others before you remove it (after
they place an order) if that is the plan. I posted some ways to do free shipping
over X here: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1072145

2. Make an agreement and have them checkout with one of your Manual Invoicing
options, and don't charge for shipping.

Cheers,
Cosy

Thanks for your suggestions. I guess I didn't really explain the situation
properly; I would like to offer free shipping on any future orders that may come
from this buyer (and ideally, all buyers in this town). There's not a current
order yet that I want to have it for.
I think I will create a domestic shipping method with a minimum order, as you
suggested, and put in the description that it's only available for buyers
in my town and the next town. Not ideal, but I can at least try it and evaluate
after some time.

I hope this missing coupon feature will be added, as well as an option to offer
a shipping method based on password and/or on region. I'm sure I am not the
only one who for whatever reason would want to offer a shipping method on a selective
or individual basis.
