  I have part x376px6 (https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=x376px6#T=C),
the large lion flag from the Royal Knights collection. Bricklink says it's
only in one set, Royal Knight's Castle, and I know I never had that set (waaaay
too expensive for my parents to buy).

Does anyone know where it might be in another set?

What other set in the series did you have?

This is the list to check:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=S&catString=9.285

I can't find it anywhere,
but obviously I've got it. I want to say it was an individual mini fig, sold
with maybe a horse and the red lion cape (which also says it's only in one
set).

Hey Crystal,

How much would you worry if a buyer, who called you "overzealous seller",
"bonehead seller", "does not know whats going on",..., wants
to block you?

World ending. I'd be distraught. XD Then I'd reply to their feedback
with a non sequitur.

I would just wait few hours and the feedback will be automatically removed since
the NPD was completed few hours ago.

Seriously though, when I'm teaching people Ebay, I have to explain to new
sellers that you are going to have to block tons of people, and to not feel bad
about it. IMO the more questions asks the bigger then pain the person ends up
being.

I get blocked on Ebay more often. I am an established seller here and I think
I know why (for what reasons) and when I should block somebody. But I have no
idea why I get blocked by some sellers on Ebay. I already know that by messaging
a seller to ask extra photos,... I am already at risk of getting blocked.
Later time, I got blocked by a seller in the USA after few messages back and
forth. I have absolutely no idea why he blocked me. I politely asked him the
reason and what I did wrong. He did not answer me. As a seller, I literally cannot
come with a reason that he might have to block me.
I believe you did not teach him when and who he has to block.

I wanted badly his rare Lego listings and used a friend's account to buy
the products from him. Now I really want to leave a negative feedback for him.
Is this over-reacting?

I can even pass my communications with him. Maybe you have a better understanding
on how Ebay works.

In Inventories, marlinjc writes:
It seems the plume feathers that are not used in the minifig are extra parts.
The extra plumes are seldom found with used sets found at sales. Keys in the
Harry Potter set are also confusing in this regard. Other parts like 1x1 round
plates come together and the unused ones are considered extra parts. It does
not seem right that a castle must be listed as incomplete if an unused plume
is not included.

It can be listed as complete per definition of used complete set:

Complete - Set contains all parts necessary to build all of the models
(including alternate models) in the instructions
but does not have to contain
the original box/packaging and/or extra parts. If the set is missing instructions,
the description must list this. If the set did not come with instructions then
the set should include all parts listed in the picture inventory which is located
on the box or bucket. The set must include all original stickers used on the
model either still on the sticker sheet or applied.

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=102#:~:text=Complete%20%2D%20Contents%20are%20brand%20new,)%20and%20original%20box%2Fpackaging.

This definition does not say "Set contains all parts in the regular
or alternate section".
If the plumes in a castle set are not used in any alternate model, the set can
be listed complete without them.

This is especially true of black plumes.

In Inventories, Zab3uk75 writes:
Hi, can any one confirm the head gear plumes in this set.
The inventory (Bricklink) shows
Plume feather small 4502a x 1
plume feather large 4502c x 1

The instructions show neither of these (perhaps I have missed them) but does
show
plume feather triple 4502b

Thanks for your help.

We will only accept frosted bricks as an alternate.

Why?

By the way, you added an extra

What is the evidence of an extra 3743?
I have seen photos of a new set 956 but there were no extra 3743.

hmmm. sounds like it could be related to the auto deposit to a bank account that
you mentioned. I had that setup and it had the option of only transferring the
CAD funds or CAD and USD so presumably if it tries to transfer the USD to the
bank it would convert it to CAD directly in PayPal so if they set that up and
then you disconnected the bank then that would make sense. if you turn that all
off then you should be good to go.

Nope, I didn't have any other issues. as soon as I changed the password,
removed their stuff and setup the Microsoft Authenticator app I haven't had
any suspicious activity.

That scammer costed me like ~50 to 60$ conversation fees of PayPal.
Leave alone I could have used those funds to buy from USA, Europe...

  (Cancelled)

The title of this message was 2fa.
It was about PayPal account.

I wish I had taken this message more seriously.

Take this seriously! Now!

I'll never forget it, my PayPal account got hacked years ago so I had to
call them, we reset my email back, changed my password about to hang up and my
email was changed back to the wrong email address. Ever since that day I use
2fa for everything I can.

Sure it's a bit annoying at times, but much less so than having what little
money I have taken away, that is way more annoying.

The thing is 2FA dosnt even help (at least some forms) as I had 2FA via text
yet they still got in without me getting a single text then added a phone number
from the Philippines and a bank from the USA all without raising a single alarm.
I since changed to Microsoft Authenticator so it’s not possible to even sign
in on a trusted device without the code so hopefully that 2FA is better

Hi there,

I set up 2FA with Micros. Authen.

Today I noticed the recent funds I received in USD and EURO were converted to
CAD
The conversions happened at different times. I wonder if this was an automatic
conversation or maybe
Part of an automatic trasnfer: i.e. the guy set up a daily automatic transfer
within which he set the foreign funds to be converted first. Now his bank account
is removed from my account so that automatic transfer misses the bank account
but the part that set up "conversion to CAD" is still working.

I tried to undo this. Hopefully this conversions are stopped.

Or maybe the scammer somehow can login and convert my funds to piss me up because
he is disappointed he cannot transfer my funds to his bank account!

Otherwise, I don't know.

Do you/did you have the same issue ?

Cheers,
Reza

Hi

Customer has canceled the order after the deal was made

Customer does NOT have the power to cancel an order. You agreed to cancel. If
you didn't want to agree, you had to initiate an NPB.

  and the bricks were packed

Since the buyer had not paid, why did you pack at the first place? packing should
be done only when the buyer has already paid.

and ready for shiping. I have blocked him.
I want to give him negative feedback but I am afraid if he do that also, and
I don't want first negative feedback.

What to do with customers like this one?

Thanks!

If buyer does not pay, initiate an NPB AND complete it. It can take about 2-3
weeks. Once it is complete, you can leave a negative feedback and the buyer will
not be allowed to leave any feedback for you. If he already left a feedback,
his feedback would be removed once the NPB is completed.

Set No: 6236 Name: King Kahuka
*
6236-1 (Inv) King Kahuka
41 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 1994
Sets: Pirates: Pirates I: Islanders

* Add 1 Part 3039 Light Gray Slope 45 2 x 2

Could you please tell us the source for this request?

The part in step 2 is a Brick 1 x 2 which is already in the inventory.

Part No: 3004 Name: Brick 1 x 2
*
3004 Brick 1 x 2
Parts: Brick {Light Gray}

Yes correct, there are two light gray Bricks 1 x 2:

https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/lego-set-6236-islanders-king-kahuka-172403696

But on the back of the box, in the alternate model, I see three

Part No: 3040 Name: Slope 45 2 x 1
*
3040 Slope 45 2 x 1
Parts: Slope {Light Gray}

They look to be Slope 45 2 x 1 and not Slope 45 3 x 1

Currently there are 41 parts + minifig
Minifig has 4 parts.
Total= 45

But three white parts 2x 6029a and 1x6029b came with sprue:

Part No: 6029 Name: Minifigure, Plume Wheel Sprue Complete, 2 Cattle Horns and Feathered Headdress
*
6029 (Inv) Minifigure, Plume Wheel Sprue Complete, 2 Cattle Horns and Feathered Headdress
Parts: Minifigure, Headgear Accessory

So the total becomes
Total= 45 - 2 = 43

The piece count on the box is 42. This is a mismatch.
If we add one extra light gray Slope 45 2 x 1, the mismatch would be held!

The quantity of the light gray bricks and slopes in the inventory is correct
according to the official online parts list.
https://www.bricklink.com/r3/inventorycomparison/main.page?sourceB=1&invB=6236&sourceA=0&invA=6236-1

You referenced the official Lego's inventory because you kind of agree there
are three 1x2 slopes?

At the end of the day, TLG has made a mistake. Either on piece count or on the
inventory and piece count both!

Btw., I own this set new in opened box. I just don't know where it is.

That is a common problem

In any case, there is no evidence that this set came with a light gray

Part No: 3039 Name: Slope 45 2 x 2
*
3039 Slope 45 2 x 2
Parts: Slope {Light Gray}
so the inventory change request can't be accepted.

The minifigure head and torso came preassembled and were only counted as one

Good to know it’s not just me.

Based on other responses, seems it's just me and you

maybe with this and the Paypal thing we are just unlucky

Yeap kind of unlucky but there are actually few things we can do to make things
work better ...

If so, does it have to do with November 3rd incident?

I have been on this site for many years now, and have done my share of purchases
and sales. Typically I charge the exact price it costs me to ship a given package,
sometimes I do this at a aloss i.e., I charge extra for the box (1-2 $), but
do not charge anything for the air bubbles or my hot glue gun.

Sometime back I ordered few parts ($5.00 worth), and the seller asked for $6.00
for shipping and $3.00 extra charges.

Maybe I have not kept up with the 'business', but isn't this extreme?

LOL Try buying from New Zealand. I don't even bother looking at any USA or
British shops on here. More often than not your prices and shipping ARE Extreme
in the true meaning of the word. IE more than my order by a long long shot and
simply not woth even looking at which is a real shame as you've got some
great stores.

for common parts, I buy from Canada. But I still order from few other countries
like Denmark, Sweden, UK, Germany,

The last time I received an order from New Zealand was for two minifigs:
Cost of parts: 25.19
Shipping costs: 11.85
Extra parts: 0
Total: $37.04 USD

Shipping costs for a 1kg package would be about $30 USD.

You may consider looking at stores in Canada and other countries.

I opened two cases and hopefully it gets resolved.

Yikes. Was it to “CITIBANK, NA Checking ••8643” like mine

CITIBANK, NA: yes
Was: ••1643

In my email, it says:
"You added ‪0*****97001"

Mine was “0*****80294”
So slightly different. But yah I wonder if they are targeting bricklink sellers
or if it’s just a coincidence. How is the saying. 1 is chance, 2 is coincidence

I don't know if it helps to contact that bank in NA.

high $ order from 0 feedback users is quite common.

Hi! Whats the potential implications if the order address and PP address don't
match?

If buyer pays via PayPal onsite, they will match because the address that PayPal
copies the address of buyer that he he uses to pay via bricklink and it will
be the one that appears in the details of transaction, so seller would not even
know and will not have access to check the primary address of buyer. (i.e. the
address of transaction can be different from the primary address of buyer on
PayPal)

Thx

I just received a very large order (over $2000) from a new account and the customer
has already paid for the order. But should I be worried? What precautions should
I take? I will deliver with insurance on the package and tracking for sure.

Thank you

Personallly i dont allow such high orders unless if the buyer contacts me beforehand.

Pypal requires you to ship with signature when total is over 850$ usd
I would invoice the buyer shipping costs including insurance.
If the order is not from canada, then candapost only insures up to$1000
In that case you would need to find a different courier, of you can do some surgeries
to this order, remove few items so that it is $1000 and then the buyer can submit
another order (once the first one is paid) which should be shipped nd insured
separately.

Attached are the images which you wanted to add to your other requests. I must

came assembled in sets through the early 2000's. The inventory changes for
4624c03 were already completed some time ago.

Interesting.

I cannot tell if the bags are original but there are also some facts making me
believe it:
- the parts look new
- if somebody tried to repack the bags, he managed to make everything look like
original, i.e. the sprues are there, the heads and torsos are assembled together,
the parts are grouped in different bags the same way TLG grouped the parts to
put in different bags. But yet, this guy disassembled the wheels from tires?!
Why?
- the seller or somebody repacked the bags for an uncommon set whose price is
just $150?!

Anyway, we hopefully find another NIB copy of this set sometime in the future
and find out more.

For now, you need to reduce the size of your images to 640px wide or less to

Yes, since the November blackout.

Shall we upload photos once the issue is settled?

Here is the link for now

You should not post links to ebay.

Also, the image there does not support your requested changes for the wheels
and tires. The wheels and tires are all separated in those bags.

Even the

But I thought.... How could Randy failed to see this. It is obvious, isn't
it?!
It turns out the photos of Ebay listings I saved in my laptop yesterday are from
a different Ebay listings than the one I found to support my request

This set is from 1990 so it is exactly produced during the transition time. I
will submit a different inventory change request.

For now, you need to reduce the size of your images to 640px wide or less to
get them to upload properly.

Is this a new thing?
Never had this issue on the forum.

Yes, since the November blackout.

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1443251

Shall we upload photos once the issue is settled?

Here is the link for now

You should not post links to ebay.

Also, the image there does not support your requested changes for the wheels
and tires. The wheels and tires are all separated in those bags.

Even the

are all separated.

When i saw the link, i reqlized they were separated and found it interesting.
But they are not.
Today i checked the photos few times and found the wheels assembled and could
not find the wheells 4624
Bad eyes?

i will check them again later with my laptop. Sorry for that.

As for the ebay link, in the past it was ok to do so for inv. Changes . Anything
changed?
Butt ok i wont copy paste any link. What abiut the id of listing?

  Hi

A while back i ordered new window frames (for 2493c01) for my 8680 set using
the Bricklink inventory as reference. When i got them i was thinking to switch
the glass over from my discolored variants, however i found out that the windows
i had, has fixed glass in them. The window i have with the set is part 4347.
I also noticed that Rebrickable and brickset use this part in their inventory.

When looking in the instructions, the step where the windows are added does not
describe the glass being added to the frame, thus i think 4347 is the most corect
window here. However i cannot be sure that 2493c01 was never used also. Perhaps
the instruction was kept not describing to insert the glass, or perhaps there
are two versions of the instruction floating around?

I think both variants are correct, for first (few) year(s), it came with fixed
glass, then it came with removable glass, similar to this set

Set No: 7839 Name: Car Transport Depot

7839-1 (Inv) Car Transport Depot
325 Parts, 2 Minifigures, 1986

that was also from 1986 (until 1990).
See

I was hoping to get some input from the community before going ahead and requesting
an inventory change request since i'm not really sure what is the most corect
corse of action here.

Instructions only shows the first variant from 1986.
I assume for an inventory change, you need a reliable source, like a new set
as I had for set 7839.

In that case i am wondering if it may be someone who cannot login to his account
since 3rd November accident so he decided to create a new account and buy this.

Could this be some type of scam?
Should I cancel the order?

Not suspicious at all. It is a rare figure.
He/she probably created the account because the only place they could find it
is on Bricklink.

If you want to overkill it, you could ship UPS extra insurance and signature
required. That way you know it was delivered to their door and a person signed
for it.

Just let them you are requiring signature, some people are never home during
the workweek.

Probably worth it on such a high dollar figure. Use at least an 8x6x4 box though,
UPS loses bubble mailers.

Comments from Submitter:
Question: I tried to build the house, as described in the original instructions (dating to 1985).

I suspect I need 13 "Yellow Bricks 1 x 3", as opposed to the bricklink set inventory, which states a quantity of 12(?)

Referring to the instructions, I need ...
- step 3: 3 bricks
- step 4: 1 brick
- step 5: 1 brick
- step 6: 2 bricks
- step 14: 4 bricks
- step 17: 2 bricks

Sum: 13 bricks

?

Especially I am a bit doubtful about step 6 - one cannot clearly see what is going on at the front right corner / right yellow wall.

I did confirm accuracy of this set. I opened a new set (seals opened, content
new in sealed bag) and they were only 12 yellow bricks 1x3

Why does your confirmation say (source: Set Box/Picture)?

If you want to redo it, just let me know. I can remove your confirmation so that
you can submit it again with an updated source.

Cheers,
Randy

Because at that time, I had to choose Sealed content but my copy was a new in
an opened box so I asked Russel and he told me to choose Box\Picture. Later,
the other option Sealed bags\open box was added.

Yes, I can redo it if you remove it.
There are other sets of which I confirmed accuracy the same way.

Sounds weird to me - it's not a problem, it's just a different address.

The issue is that one wouldn't be covered by PayPal seller protection if
one sent to a different address

LOL PayPal Seller protection!?*

Ah I laughed so much, thank you!

*PS: it doesn't exists, it's a myth.
Mainly.

I'm of the same mind - in fact I don't think I've ever even looked
at a PayPal address unless the BL address looked "off". I think it is
best to send to the address used by the buyer when placing the order.

Since your orders on bricklink are paid via PayPal onsite, you don't need
to check anything.
The address that appears on the PayPal transaction is automatically copied from
the address the buyer uses (that you can only see on the order's page) and
so PayPal entirely ignores the primary address on buyer on PayPal.
There is absolutely no way these two addresses can be different, unless if the
buyer pays via PayPal offsite.

I received this message about a $5 head in my store, and am wondering what to
do, it appears the buyer has over 100 positive feedback and no negative or neutral

and am looking for insight. The message is the following:
“ Is there any wear or damage?
If no issues, would you accept my prepaid FedEx label for it. Can be dropped
at any Walgreens if no FedEx. I’ve had no issues using them on here.”

I ordered twice from a huge store in Canada:
Canada First bricks

I politely requested them if they are ok I create and buy the shipping label
and gave these reasons:
- I want to spend more with my account of CanadaPost so that I can reach a higher
discount rate (up $2500 per year is dicount level 1, up to $5000 is dicount level
2)
- It will be cheaper because you also have to charge me 13% extra for taxes.

and at the end, I mentioned i do understand if they prefer not to accept this,
and I will still pay for the order.

For similar reasons, I created and sent labels to sellers on Ebay,... and a few
accepted.
For sellers in the USA, I prefer to create my own label because they don't
use a cheap shipping label. So for small orders, it can cost me $15 otherwise
they might want to charge me $30-40.

It is always easy and quick to think: this is scam, that is scam,...
and if you google anything like "the buyer wants... is this a scam?",
you find some links that it is.

Look at the profile of buyer and the way he communicates and use your common
sense.

Last 2 days I got 3 orders for shipping relatively small sets to the US. And

the Netherlands). The other sets were €45 and €25, but all very common sets widely
available in the US. All 3 buyers have 0 feedback and these seem to be the first

off. Al payed with Paypall. Can this be a sort of scam/fraud or am I just being

paranoid 😂

Yes.

I ordered some parts a few months ago from an international seller and didn’t
have to pay the custom charge.

You should have been charged VAT, unless it was over £135.

The order was over £135, so am I meant to pay the custom charge then?

You always have to pay VAT.
but if the value is less than £135, BL charges VAT on the invoice. Then the seller
has to add documents and submit the BL's VAT number and when the packages
reaches UK, they verify that you already paid VAT and won't (hopefully!)
charge you VAT again.
If the value is over £135, BL do not charge VAT and so the courier charges you
VAT plus some extra processing fees.

Sets: Town: Classic Town: Coast Guard

* Change 1 Part Blue x244 Baseplate 24 x 40 {Alternate to Regular} {match ID 1 to 0}

In theory, it is impossible to prove a variant of part was never used in any
copy of a set, produced over 2-3 years.

This set is an upgraded version of set

Set No: 369 Name: Coast Guard Station
*
369-1 (Inv) Coast Guard Station
254 Parts, 5 Minifigures, 1976
Sets: LEGOLAND: Coast Guard
and its instructions was copied and changed from that but apparently they forgot
to change the baseplate or they decided to not print dots on the baseplate after
the design of instructions.

I have checked many used copies of this set sold on Ebay but did not see even
once the baseplate

Part No: x244px1 Name: Baseplate 24 x 40 with Set 369/575 Dots Pattern
*
x244px1 Baseplate 24 x 40 with Set 369/575 Dots Pattern
Parts: Baseplate

I even paid attention to only check those copies that came with early version
of the box. I also checked if there is any seller in US selling this baseplate.
Not that it would prove anything but seeing no seller in USA selling this baseplate
confirms this.
I myself bought two copies of 575-1.

Note that only the baseplate

Part No: x244 Name: Baseplate 24 x 40
*
x244 Baseplate 24 x 40
Parts: Baseplate
is listed in the inventory of

Set No: 575 Name: Coast Guard Station (Canadian Edition)
*
575-2 (Inv) Coast Guard Station (Canadian Edition)
284 Parts, 5 Minifigures, 1978
Sets: Town: Classic Town: Coast Guard

It is possible to upload a few photos of used copies of this set on Ebay where
the baseplate is

Part No: x244 Name: Baseplate 24 x 40
*
x244 Baseplate 24 x 40
Parts: Baseplate

but not sure if that helps.

Were there a few early-productions in which the baseplate x244 was used? The
chance if very slim. After 4-5 years checking those used copies sold on Ebay,
I have not seen any.

Bricklink buddies, you've been on point with your guesses! 🕵️‍♂️ Let's
give a round of applause to those who cracked the code and found our two undercover
heroes.

🥁 Drumroll, please!

🌐 Answer 1: Daily Maintenance Down Time! The site may have taken a short
beauty nap, but our daily 10-minute maintenance was right on schedule. Five days
down, but that 10 minutes is non-negotiable! 😴

💸 Answer 2: Monthly Invoice Marvel! On the 5th of November, while the

made its grand entrance. Talk about punctuality!

A big shoutout to those who hit the bullseye with these correct answers! 🎯 And

As the community ponders whether BL's actions align with GDPR, your viewpoint

the color is not dark gray as shown in the picture on the left. I would call
it brownish gray.
I have some bricks and plates in this color and am looking for matching stones.
So what color should I choose to find brownish gray parts?

I have many of them and I had noticed their colors are not the same. TLG produced
them in different charges over the years. So you need to order many of them hoping
to find those that match with the bricks you want.

I didn't know it would fit.
In any case, I have bought 100 x #4 mailers few years ago, and they occupy some
room in my small place and after few years, I have not used half of my $4 mailers.
If I buy a few #5 mailers, they each cost even more so I am fine with cutting
and taping but it may work for you if you have enough space to store them.

I have about 40 32x32 baseplates I'd like to add to my store. Problem is
that I'm not sure of the best way to ship them. Do sellers just typically
ship them in large bubble envelopes or boxes? Large envelopes seem the most economical
but I'm concerned about damage to the plates. Boxes seem the most safe but
more costly to ship. What are your recommendations? Thanks.

Within Canada i can ship up to three baseplates with mailer. It will only cost
3-6$
I have to cut the sizes of mailer and then tape the whole thing to make it fit.
When i ship only one baseplate, i add carsboard for extra protection.
They are robust enough i trust they will be delivered safely. They cannot bend
it so i don’t need to add a sticker ‘please do not bend’.
For usa or international, it doesnt matter as i have to ship them as parcel.
I just make sure to ship in the lightest possible box. For that i may even ship
again as mailer to make sure the weight remain below 250g or below 500g.

I basically cut both sides of the mailer and after placing the baseplate, i taped
it.
I also put a cardboard because i shipped only one baseplate. I think for two
or three baseplates, you won’t need a cardboard.

The final weight of this mailer: 160gr

8 years ago a postal employee opened a package on the way to me and pilfered
the contents. PayPal took my side and I returned the package for a refund and
the seller accused me of stealing on the forum and 4 people stop listed me.
In those days you could see who stop listed you. All of those people eventually
took me off their list.

I just went from 6-7 a couple months ago.

1-2 more people stoplied me a couple months ago too. Maybe I wrote something
on the forum few people didn't like.

I checked all of the stores I had
recently bought from and it wasn't any of them. I don't know.

I know 5 of those people stoplisted me. Few years ago, I wanted to know who had
stoplisted me. I found a way to find out, using the existing features of Bricklink!
It turned out it was a store that I had not bought from and at the time he stoplisted
me, I had not written anything on the forum. It could be because I had an NPB
with a negative FB at that time and he somehow saw my profile and wanted to protect
himself.
Now, I don't care who those people who recently stoplisted me are.

  I stop
list people when they try to scam me or do an NPB or something like that.
It could be that someone I stop listed figured it out and stop listed me as
revenge. I really just don't know. But there are thousand of fish in the

I edited this to be 2 of the assembly.

Let me know if you disagree.

This sticker assembly was added by plankystone
It was approved about 30 days ago. As far as I know, the submitter does not get
notified that his item is approved and added to the catalog so this can be the
reason he did not submit any inventory change request in regard to this item.
Since this was his work and effort, he deserves to also obtain the points related
to corresponding inventory change(s) otherwise I think it is unfair (unless if
he refused to submit inv. change request).

Here is an example of an item I submitted and was approved after few months but
another user submitted the corresponding inv. change request. Unfortunately the
change request was accepted without giving me any chance to submit it myself.

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1351441

So I think regardless of who submits the inv. change request, the submitter of
the item should be notified and be given the chance to submit the corresponding
change request, and then his change request being accepted.
I did research in regard to the variation of this part, and spent the money and
time to submit it to the catalog, yet I was disappointed to see its corresponding
point was given to another user who did not make any effort. This is part of
the reason I stopped submitting many changes I came across with.
[Please do not expect anybody to check the recently items added to the catalog
twice a day to make sure he/she would be the first one submitting the inv. change
request.]

I add that this is not the fault of the other person who submits an inv. change
request.

Some of these that Robert has submitted are months and months since they were
added to the catalog. Some from 2021 and were never added to an inventory.

We know to not accept any requests from other users for parts you have submitted.

Other than you no-one else to my knowledge has flagged this as an issue in the
4 years I have been here.

If they do have a problem with this they can let us know and we can add them
to the list with you

Thanks
Paul.

Thanks

This! This is what has to be done, but like I said not every seller knows that,
or knows the correct way to do it.
The problem is that most sellers don't know the correct procedure. (EVEN

if you ask them about it before buying.)

If I wanted to order from outside EU, i would either order over 135 Euro, or
i message the seller before ordering. The message should be formatted in a way
that makes things clear for you:
For example:
I am interested in few items in your store but there might be a problem in regard
to import taxes (VAT): bricklink directly collects taxes as explained here:
[the link]

This means if the seller correctly follows the procedure on providing tax-related
info to the courier, buyer will not be charged VAT for the second time. Unfortunately
I ordered a few times from sellers outside Europe and they did not properly followed
instructions and I was charged VAT for the second time.
I checked the terms of your store and did not find anything in regard to the
VAT info. Could you pleas kindly confirm on how you follow instructions to provide
VAT-related info to the courier?

Really appreciated,
...
*****

You can copy the message and paste it each time.

If seller doesn't reply or if the seller gives a one-line reply like
"I will pass VAT info as per instructions" or "I will attach the
printed invoice to the package", then I won't submit any order in his/her
store.

If it is a huge store, I don't think you would need to worry about it as
much.

Weird that it still went wrong that one time. So not always the seller's
fault. I have no explanation for that.

Same problem still, not from the EU to the UK but from UK to the EU and from
the USA to the EU.

I had 4 out of 5 non-EU orders double taxed over the last two years.
Last one was +- a month ago and now I completely stopped buying outside the EU.
I've had enough. (That last one is still back on it's way to the seller
for a full refund)

The problem is that most sellers don't know the correct procedure. (EVEN
if you ask them about it before buying.)
You say the seller put the VAT info on the package...there is your proof he has
no idea how things work in 2023.

Bricklink can't do more than informing the sellers, but if they ignore that
it is only the buyer who get double taxed. No loss for the sellers so why would
they care.
And on top of that bricklink gets to keep the first tax unless you go through
that painstaking procedure. So why would bricklink care.

Once it is stopped by customs you're doomed. Best way is to refuse the package
and go full refund. Do not pay.

Good luck convincing the seller he made a mistake.

Greetings,
Koen

I add VAT IOSS # electronically to the package's info and attach a printed
copy of the invoice to the order.
I did not get any report that VAT was again charge except one time that I sold
via Ebay (to Hungary or Poland? I don't recall exactly). I am not sure what
went wrong: the courier didn't transfer the IOSS number or the customs made
a mistake? I never know.

* Change 6 Part Black 2412a Tile, Modified 1 x 2 Grille without Bottom Groove / Lip {match ID 0 to 10}

Comments from Submitter:
Yes, I just got 5. I also got one less than the inventory says for each of black, red, and yellow 3024. I assume that has something to do with the redesign.

Nope, they are just extra parts which are not yet listed properly. Seems the
original inventory was based on the full contents including the extra parts.
See the changes from December 2012 and
http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/4563-1

I can confirm the extra 2412a and the 3024s from my sealed bags: https://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=277057

Do you want to submit the necessary corrections?

And I have some more questions:
Is there a batch code on your box? (Probably on one of the seals.)
Is the box the early version with the LEGO logo only, or the later version with
the LEGO SYSTEM logo?
Are the minifigure heads with solid stud or blocked open stud?

One other question:
What is the Id number of the instructions?
Is your different than the one uploaded on peeron.com ?

No problem here

Gift, still needs a declaration IMO - like a CN22 with "Gift" checked.

In the post office, they didn't ask me to add any documents once I confirmed
it is just "paper".

  Good evening BrickLink,

I'd like to give stores a heads-up on sending an envelope to the United Kingdom.
The last orders by envelope gave problems, because of the lack of a CN22 form.
Apparantly it is necessary to stick such a form to a envelope too, also if the
envelope only contains an instruction.
I decided to stop shipping envelope orders to the UK for now, because of the
risk of paying twice the shipment costs.

Cheers!
Henk

Just curious,
How would they know if the envelope contains sold goods like an insturction or
it is sent by a friend as a gift? (which does not need any CN22). A friend can
send some documents, letter,....

I sent an envelope only once that contained the flattened box of a small set
because I had forgotten to include it in the first package. It went through and
was delivered.
Otherwise, I did not know what to put as CN22 or CN23? How can I inform UK customs
that this was an item that was not sent in the first package and the buyer already
paid it?

That was not exactly as "I did not receive anything"...
But overall between 1-3 minor problems over 1500 orders is nearly negligeable.
Instead, I have had about 20-50 cases when buyer claimed they did not receive
something and upon checking, I realized they were right and all were my mistake.

Bricklink is by far the best platform I sell on as far as the ratio of honest
to dishonest buyers, but let's not sugarcoat things.

I probably didn't have any dishonest buyer. Whenever they claimed they didn't

orders same or next day, and even saved one of the buyers $15 on shipping. I
sent them "friendly reminders" to post feedback, but still nothing. What
do I do, what can I do?

You will eventually get enough number of feedbacks.
Do not care much about it.

Also send your remainder few weeks after they received order. And only one reminder.
I personally send the remainder to those buyers who are newbie and never left
any feedback. Those who are more experienced do not need a remainder and they
might have chosen not to leave feedback for their orders.
Also the wording of your reminder should be very friendly.

Just going through a job lot of vintage sealed sets I picked up recently and

Both seem to be the same type of set - 4.5v Straight rails, the only difference
is the year of manufacture.

Yeap.

Just seems odd Lego would re-number a set?

Do you call something that happened frequently odd?

Any ideas why?

This was itself an idea!

It may be they wanted to number train sets in certain way of between 156-XXX
so they renumbered this set and 151--157.

It's not the only time that the LEGO Group has done this.

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogRelCat.asp?relID=1

It usually has to do with a reissue of a given set in a different market or different
packaging.

I had assumed the situation improved since Lego took over BL.

Possibly due to it violating rules or something. This is possible although
far far far less likely then the other option

I guess this feedback-disappearing happens by BL merging profiles.

But to be clear, if parts are listed as alternates it's ok to use those in
a listed as complete set?

Yes.  That’s the meaning of Alternate.

From the help page:
Alternate Items - Parts from the Regular Items section that differ from
one production run of a set to another. These are typically mold variations of
parts. A match ID number is entered alongside the part or group of parts in the
Regular Items section and the part or group of parts in this section to identify
that they are matched with each other. The match ID number in each inventory
starts at one and is incremented by one for each match. Refer to Additional Information
About Alternate Items for further details.”
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=1562

Lots more to read on that page.

Also: in inventories, it’s says “N of part Pa” in Regular and “N of part Pb”
in Alternate.  That doesn’t mean all parts found in a set were of the same variant.
You can find about any mix of Pa & Pb, provided the total quantity is N.
LEGO uses what’s available, LEGO doesn’t care about variants.

This is yet another example showing that the wording "alternate" is very
confusing.
Unless if the user checks the definition or if somebody explains to him what
it means, he would not understand or cannot guess what "Alternate Items"
really mean here.

I don't have a different word that can better suggest what "alternate
items" are.
Maybe a link to the definition right besides the title "Alternate Items"
can help.

Few years ago, I changed currency (and prices) from CAD to USD. The reason is
that CAD fluctuates a lot, i.e. like today a price of a set is 100 Euro and in
three months, it can be 90 Euro.
I think it is better and fair to keep prices in USD.

the thing is with that you would be taking a hit in sales as (at least for me)
when finding parts to buy i find the item them sort by currency and generally
only look at those options for stores i buy from so any candaian sellers who
sell in USD have a smaller chance of being someone i consider as an option as
they only show in the buy all or if i sort by country

Interesting!
Now I see how you never ordered from me

I only search by country: first Canada, then Denmark, Sweden, then Germany,...
By when it comes to rare items, there would be only 5-30 stores having that rare
part so I even don't use that feature.

36 Parts, 2 Minifigures, 1990
Sets: Castle: Black Knights

* Delete 1 Part 4502c Red Minifigure, Plume Feather Large
* Delete 1 Part 4502a Red Minifigure, Plume Feather Small

Comments from Submitter:
On the official notice these 2 pieces do not appear

Please see the note at the bottom of the inventory:

This set comes with one red 4502 Minifigure, Plume / Feather Wheel, 3 on Sprue,
which includes three different plumes / feathers. One of these plumes / feathers
is included in a minifigure. Therefore, the remaining two are listed separately
in the Regular Items section.

Thus, these requests will not be accepted.

Cheers,
Randy

Please explain this decision. These feathers are not in the building instructions,
so they are not part of the model. They should be categorized as 'extra pieces'.
This problem occurs in many castle sets.

There are definitions of complete set and regular/alternate/extra sectione on
bricklink. These definition are made by many members over many years, based on
all angles that should be considered. You here see only one angle of the situation.
The other angle is that they defined these concepts to work with in a way that
is generalized and can be applied to all sets in consistent way, otherwise we
would have a messed-up situation: one definition is used for one set while it
is not applied for the other set and it would not be clear what is applied for
what set/part and why.
Let's look at few facts:
- Bricklink wants the inventory to present the parts of a new set, as it would
be found in a new set. This means sticker sheet should be in new condition,
parts that are pre-assembled should appear in that way, like this:

Part No: 122c01assy2 Name: Plate, Modified 2 x 2 with Red Wheels with Black Tires 15mm D. x 6mm Offset Tread Small (122c01 / 3641)
*
122c01assy2 (Inv) Plate, Modified 2 x 2 with Red Wheels with Black Tires 15mm D. x 6mm Offset Tread Small (122c01 / 3641)
Parts: Wheel & Tire Assembly

Part No: wheel2ac02 Name: Train Wheel Spoked for Motor with Light Gray Train Rim for 4.5V & 12V Locomotive Wheels (wheel2a / trainrim)
*
wheel2ac02 (Inv) Train Wheel Spoked for Motor with Light Gray Train Rim for 4.5V & 12V Locomotive Wheels (wheel2a / trainrim)
Parts: Wheel & Tire Assembly
(but the trainrims were also sold separately)

The parts that came with sprues should appear as such:

Part No: 4502 Name: Minifigure, Plume / Feather Wheel, 3 on Sprue
*
4502 (Inv) Minifigure, Plume / Feather Wheel, 3 on Sprue
Parts: Minifigure, Headgear Accessory

Part No: 4073sprue Name: Plate, Round 1 x 1, 2 on Sprue
*
4073sprue (Inv) Plate, Round 1 x 1, 2 on Sprue
Parts: Plate, Round
The interesting thing is that TLG stopped producing round 1x1 plates with sprues
and since 1991, they are put in sets separately, i.e. without sprues. For example
this set:

Set No: 6534 Name: Beach Bandit
*
6534-1 (Inv) Beach Bandit
37 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 1992
Sets: Town: Classic Town: Recreation

So based on this goal, the sprues such as 4502 should be put in inventories complete
(and each sprue comes with three plume feathers) The only problem is that for
most sets, only one out of three sprues are used in a set, i.e. used in minifigs.
At the same time, minifigs are also supposed to come complete with all their
accessories as used for the main model of a set. If they also include one plume
feather for the complete minifig, they would be two plume feathers in the inventory
while only one came in a new copy of the set (with sprue). So the only available
decision was used: they add the other two plume feathers in the regular section.
This is the ONLY consistent solution available at this point. If they do anything
else, it would violate something else, making the whole situation inconsistent,
i.e. not following a rule.
As an example, lets look at the set

Set No: 6073 Name: Knight's Castle
*
6073-1 (Inv) Knight's Castle
390 Parts, 6 Minifigures, 1984
Sets: Castle: Black Falcons
One red and one black plume feathers are used for the minifigs of the main model:

Part No: 4502b Name: Minifigure, Plume Feather Triple
*
4502b Minifigure, Plume Feather Triple
Parts: Minifigure, Headgear Accessory {Red}

Part No: 4502b Name: Minifigure, Plume Feather Triple
*
4502b Minifigure, Plume Feather Triple
Parts: Minifigure, Headgear Accessory {Black}
So we have four plume feathers (4502a and 4502c red and black) that are NOT used
in the main model of the set, but are placed in the regular section of the set,
including a red

Part No: 4502c Name: Minifigure, Plume Feather Large
*
4502c Minifigure, Plume Feather Large
Parts: Minifigure, Headgear Accessory {Red}
but this part is different because it is used in one of the alternate model/presentation
printed on box arts . See photo attached, the image of the back of the box. So
this red plume feather should appear in the main model based on the definition
of a complete set, and the other three should not. Yet Bricklink is violating
its own rule considering these three plume feathers, because if they place these
three sprues in the extra section, they would violate the other rule that parts
of a set should be presented as they appeared in a new copy of the set, i.e.
in sprues,....

The ultimate solution would be to have multiple presentations of a set,
such as:
- parts as appeared in a new set:
Like complete new sprues 4502,....

- parts used only in the main model (this would be the one you are interested
in):
For the set 6073-1, the red 4502c should be place in this presentation, i.e.
only two plume feathers used for minifigs should appear here.

- parts used for the main model,
For set 6073-1, three plume feathers should be placed in the main section, and
the other three in the extra section.

- parts used only in one of the alternate models,
For the set 6073-1, perhaps the red 4502c should be placed in the section of
the parts ONLY used in one of the alternate section.

- parts after the main model was built (so the stickers applied and so, the stickered
assemblies should appear as such in this presentation)

If you want to include the feather wheel, add it as an alternate. These additional
feathers are not seen as part of the sets by bricklink members, but as extra
pieces. If you look at castle sets for sale, they are all marked complete with
comments that extra feathers are not included.

See the definition of a complete used set:
Complete - Set contains all parts necessary to build all of the models
(including alternate models) in the instructions but does not have to contain
the original box/packaging and/or extra parts.

It does not say that a complete set contains all parts in the regular section,
does it? So based on this definition that all BL members should follow, those
sellers CORRECTLY marked their sets complete. If they explain those other 4 plume
feathers are not present in what that is sold, then they are making it even more
clear.

Please reconsider and correct all these castle sets inventories.

Cheers FJ

you ship 32x32 lettermail? I've only ever shipped 16x32 via lettermail. just
curious as I've never heard that done before

A bit hard to tell 100 % but at least four of them have pretty clear LEGO marking.

Usually counterfeit parts do not have the word LEGO marked.

Anyone else have seen them and may know what they are?

Thanks for any insight,

179 Parts, 3 Minifigures, 1989
Sets: Town: Classic Town: Hospital

* Change 5 Part Red {3048 Slope 45 2 x 1 Triple to 3048c Slope 45 2 x 1 Triple - with Inside Bar}

My set came with 5 x Red 3048a. "Slope 45 2 x 1 Triple without Inside Bar
or Bottom Stud Holder", not 3048c. What's the right answer here? I'm
trying to eventually sell this as a complete set. It's possible, but unlikely
that what I have is from a different set. I have so many. The copyright date
on the box is 1989. Thanks.

The copyright date for all copies produced for this set is 1989.
What is the 4-digit number printed on one of the transparent seals? That gives
the production date of the set.

Just spoke with Lego Support. I was told the first two digits are the week number,
the last digit is the last number of the year, and the third digit is unknown.
So 3059 means that it was manufactured the week of July 24th, 1989.

Well, it means 30th week of the year 1989 which starts at 24th.
Since this set was released in 1989, it seems you had an early copy of this set,
which came with early versions of these two red slopes (without bottom tube).
Only a few months or year after, TLG changed the mold of these slopes and added
bottom tube to these slopes and so, later productions of this set came with later
variations of these slopes, i.e. those with bottom tubes.

Does this mean I can use 3048a to complete the set?

You could always sell them with the slopes you had.
The inventories on bricklink are very accurate but not always perfectly correct,
including all variations,...
I just submitted a change based on your finding, to add red 3048c as regular.
Thanks!

  The set inventory includes 4 x 3044a {Red Slope 45 2 x 1 Double without Inside
Bar or Bottom Stud Holder} and NOT 3044b {Slope 45 2 x 1 Double with Inside Bar}.
Doesn't make much sense to do this and then not make an allowance for 3048a.

Actually it depends. It could make sense sometimes. The inventories reflect what
people find in a new copy of sets. It is theoricaly possible some copies or all
copies of a set came with 3044b (with inside bar), but with 3048c (without
inside bar).

TLG did not think "oh my God! how can I include slopes with inside bar 3044b
and also slopes without inside bar 3048a". It goes like this:

Let's say for a set that was released in 1990, they had left in their warehouse,
- 5 barrels of 3048c (without inside bar),
- 1 barrels of 3044a (without inside bar),
At the same time they had already decided to produce these slopes with inside
bar, but they already had few barrels of these slopes without inside bars. Don't
forget: "TLG never throw anything!". So they started to use the slopes
they already had. The set was produced for two years 1990-1991.
- In the first year of production 1990, the early productions came with 3048c
and 3044a.
- Later in 1990, they ran out of 3044a because they had left only one barrel
so all the later copies came with 3044b (with inside bar) and 3048c (without
inside bar).
That is how finally, no copy of this set came with 3048a but some copies came
with 3044b.

To make it clear these things are not just theory, see the set

If you say to TLG this does not make sense, they would answer "It made sense.
We sold the sets, kids and parents were happy and satisfied and we made money
and grew our business"!

Thank you for that thoughtful reply SezaR. I am learning! It makes sense that
TLG would build like this. I plan on selling my sets on BL, and I want to make
sure I am following the set inventory when completing my sets by using parts
from either the regular or alternate lists (if any). Just to be clear, the part
in my set is 3048a not 3048c. The 'a' version has no inside bar, and
the 'c' version has the bar. I wasn't sure if you meant to say 3048a
when you said "I just submitted a change based on your finding, to add red
3048c as regular." It seems like it might make more sense to add 3048a as
an alternate and keep 3048c as regular since it looks like 3048c was the more
common part, but I'm new here so not too familiar with this whole process...

Yeah, correct. I wanted to add 3048a, but as regular because
3048a without bottom tube
came first so it should be added as regular.

99.99% buyers don't care about these types of variations between parts and
the majority of them don't even know about these details.
Even if you have an incorrect variation, you can still add a note in the remark
section of a set so that the buyer knows what he gets before his commit to purchase.
Most important thing is that if the set is complete, the stickers of the main
model should be included and electric parts to work properly. Printed parts should
be in good condition, otherwise a note is needed. If there is a yellowed part,
you need to explain this as a note in the remark section.

This might seem like a dumb question but we have an issue with an order.

The buyer purchased empty boxes and wanted to receive an invoice without any
shipping because he would send his own shipping label.

It took a while for them to pay but after we initiated an NPB they said that
they hadn't seen the previous messages reminding them that they needed to
pay their order.

We packed the order, sent the dimensions in a bricklink message as we as through
email.

The package has been sitting here since the 5th of October, no response.

Since there is no 'Non-responding buyer' alert, is there something else
we can do to get in touch with the buyer? I don't think so, but maybe someone
here has an idea that I didn't come across so far.

I guess the next option would be to send the buyer a message saying that if they
don't send the shipping label we will have to refund them and cancel the
order, or to refund them and declare an NPB, which seems counter-productive and
somehow unethical, so we're at a loss.

I assume you have sent them few messages via bricklink and to their email address.
It wouldn't hurt to wait more, even few weeks. The worst case scenario is
that you refund and cancel the order. But maybe they got caught with something
more important in life. Or maybe they answer today because they can get a free
shipping label with CanadaPost today?

I don't know if USPS does something like that but yeah, I've sent a few
messages and emails. Guess I'lljust wait some more.

USPS or UPS?
So this is an order from USA. If you meant USPS, how can you ship with USPS from
Canada to USA?

I said USPS just to keep with the Canada Post free shipping thing but the buyer
actually said he would use DHL, which we know works for this as we use them for
pick ups in both the USA and Europe.

I'm not sure if USPS allows someone to pick a package up in Canada, but I
don't think they do.

That was a bad attempt at humour from ne, guess it didn't land.

CanadaPost is better than USPS. This is a fact known by people in ne or nw, no
humour is needed

Please make changes to the following inventory:

Set No: 6482 Name: Rescue Helicopter
*
6482-1 (Inv) Rescue Helicopter
179 Parts, 3 Minifigures, 1989
Sets: Town: Classic Town: Hospital

* Change 5 Part Red {3048 Slope 45 2 x 1 Triple to 3048c Slope 45 2 x 1 Triple - with Inside Bar}

Thanks!
