Otherwise, it does not look like Lego to me -- unless it is a new or uncatalogued

Or neatly Dremelled

I don’t know any LEGO part that could be modified to look that way.

Enter the set number (75021-1) in the Part-out page: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/wanted/partout.page
it’ll (help you) put the parts in a Wanted List.

Then use the Buy Page to find a store. https://www.bricklink.com/v2/wanted/buy.page

It depends what other outgoings you have.

20% is a huge amount to be spending on lego if you are spending 95% on essentials.
Whereas 20% is not much if you are only spending 10% on essentials.

Isn’t LEGO part of the essentials?

Why is this?

Because EasyBuy doesn’t care about filters.

Use the Buy page ( https://www.bricklink.com/v2/wanted/buy.page ) and Auto-select,
it obeys the filters just above the list of shops ((3) on the first image here:

The solution(s) outlined in this thread don't seem to work anymore for this
latest update bug - at least for me. I've completed wiped every possible
folder related to Stud.io 2.0 and Part Designer but upon reinstalling both programs
it still throws the same error.

1. You could (actually should) have answered in said thread

2. You need to install December’s version of Studio (and refuse to update)
if you want to use PartDesigner before the devs fix the problem with the new
version.
(Explanations / links are in the thread, 3rd page.)

I'm building the 42145 Airbus H175 Rescue Helicopter. On step 142, the instructions
show inserting a red pin with axle through two narrow beams, through a wide beam,
and in step 143, placing a pinion on the axle end and another pinion on the axle
beneath it. After installing both pinions, the longer axle is almost impossible
to turn due to the friction from the red pin with the axle end holding the pinion
above it. Before continuing, I want to make sure this is correct as it doesn't
seem right.

Thank you!

Hi, I haven’t built the set or looked further in the instructions but it looks
like a classic brake, to prevent the axle from rotating freely.
Is it part of the landing gear’s up-down mechanism?

Open source culture is foreign to artists and scientists.

I don’t really agree with that, or that depends on whom you label “scientists.”
Open source is the fundament of science: you share what you do, how you do it,
with what you do it.
Grafted on that is the people who pay the scientists and want something in return
or want to know how/to whom to distribute the money.  And those people are therefore
interested in technology and applications, not science, and there you get patents
and secrets.

As for artists, well all the artists train by looking at and reproducing others’
arts (works for paintings or books).  Then they find & do their own things and
add their creativity… or not, when they found the “cash recipe” and rehash the
same work / story over and over.
Those AIs do exactly as the latter: they are trained on what exists, find the
recipe (in a totally obscure way for us) and produce similar things over and
over.

For anyone new on this topic and don't know what Chat GPT is: Chat GPT is
a AI-based program that people use for generating dialogues.

Thank you for wording it this way

Those AIs are indeed not answering questions, they are generating
text (or images) as a continuation of what precedes, mimicking answers, mimicking
a dialogue.

They are like your phone’s keyboard app’s (or Google’s search bar’s) completion
on steroids.  They don’t know anything and they even less understand
anything.

As such, they are reproducing what’s more probable to happen, that is, the average.
(And therefore they need to be “curated” because 80% of everything is crap.)

  […]
I'm flabbergasted by Chat GPT. What seemed unlikely 30 years ago (for example
in science fiction films) is now just everyday reality.

Well, in movies / books, the AIs know things and think.  There’s
no thinking or even knowledge here.
(One could argue there’s knowledge in the sense that the AI “knows” how to make
sentences… but it’s not organized knowledge, it’s fine-tuned reflexes.)

I am personally convinced that it will not be long before we can no longer differentiate
between real people and robots.

Well, Eliza already fooled enough people almost 60 years ago.

It also raises the question to what extent you
can still trust written communication in the future.

And pictures and sounds and movies.

It seems there’s been an update of Unity (the game engine on which Studio is

That’s what triggered the last big change in support for MacOS (add support for
M1 = lose support for MacOS 10.9 to 10.13; the True Apple Way).

Obviously thinking the next time I need one I will have it. To date, that has
yet to happen.

Thoughts?

Yep.  Need 4.  Think of buying 8 because, eh, maybe I’ll build two or another
similar thing.  Hesitate in front of the cart: “so 8 or round up to 10?”  Or
“eh, they have 11, I can’t leave 1 all by itself.”
Then I eventually validate the order.
And 5min after that I look at the MOC and find another idea which either means
I actually don’t need the part at all… or I now need 12 and bougth 10 (or 11)….

That’s why I take a long time between orders

not obvious whether someone (sender or receiver) uses English or Globish / understands

I should remember him that as a seller here, he also has obligations ?

I would let it go: they are obviously not in a mood to receive advices, however
they are expressed.

I agree with you that your seller is way out of line.

I would just mention that, human nature being what it is, you should always expect
a defensive or negative reply when you tell anyone: 'You should...!"

Good luck,
Jen

You shouldn’t say “you should…!”!

As both buyer and seller are French, I suppose they spoke French and so there
should be less of a language barrier.

There’s several nuances in French that can be reduced to “you should…!” in Globish.
For starters, there’s “tu” (singular & colloquial you) or “vous” (politeness
plural) or the impersonal “ça” (it, but then it would translate to “it should”)
or the impersonal “il” (similar to “it should” but translates to “you should”).
Then there’s the tense: present (obligation) or conditional (advice).

So it’s hard to judge just on a translation what could have triggered that answer.
Also, these social codes are not always understood or shared and it seems the
seller is under stress at the moment.
I mean, the answer is still out of line but it may not just be the exclamation
point

the best was would be to watch a youtube video of an unboxing of the set to see
what you need for it as bricklink (or any other site i think) don't have
the option to see what is included in certain bags

The simplest would be to look if someone hasn’t already done the job.
For instance on Rebrickable, where they sometimes do “sub-sets” inventories.

And indeed, the T-Rex is there: https://rebrickable.com/sets/75936-1-s1/jurassic-park-trex-rampage-trex/?inventory=1#parts

Hmm, there can be two reasons they are most wanted:
— they are rare, and therefore you don’t need a lot of storage place,
— they are sold as fast as the the stock is replenished, and therefore you don’t
need a lot of storage place.

On the contrary, parts that are least wanted aren’t sold and therefore accumulate
in your store and need more storage place.

— Open the Wanted List,
— set the number of items per page to the max,
— select the parts (the checkbox in the header selects all the parts on the current
page),
— click the “Quantity” button, it opens a dialog with the option to multiply
all the quantities.

You’ll have to do that for all the pages.

You may also copy the wanted list to another one (same procedure but click “Copy”)
and buy the two together.

To buy multiple WL together, use the Buy page ( https://www.bricklink.com/v2/wanted/buy.page
) and select the WLs in the left pane.

The glass anyway, not so sure what’s in it in this photo, might just be the light.

I can't see or feel the difference and I don't know how to determine

They look all the same to me.
And what do they mean with embossed? Do they mean raised plastic with a print
on top of it or just a very thick print that feels lumpy?

AFAICT from the ones I have (some of them missing a bit of chrome), ‘embossed’
actually means ‘engraved and filled with paint’.
If you remove the chrome, the pattern is still there.

Easier to tell the difference with the black paint because the chrome is thicker
and you always feel it.

I believe its incoming too […]

It’s logical indeed.

It’s also logical that Royal Mail is talking to its clients: UK people, so it’s
talking about outgoing mail.
Incoming mail obviously comes from other postal services and it’s left to these
entities to notify their own clients.

And the BBC and other UK news outlets obviously talk to UK people first too

Thanks for the quick reply! Even if it was a big disappointment.
Any suggestion for the best way to do this? Export all to excel ?

There’s Rebrickable (website) or BrickStore (application).
Rebrickable has its own IDs & inventories, so there may be conversion problems.

  Hi,

Hi,

We have just started with Bricklink and are adding all of the parts we own directly
to our inventory stockroom. Then we found out that if we added a set into our
wanted list we can se in the part out section a "have" information (se
picture). We have tried to added some of the parts in to My collection instead
but it also ends up with zero in this information row.
How does it work?

Unfortunately, it doesn’t work.

The new My Collection thing is about useless now.  Hopefully it’ll improve….

The Wanted Lists are not linked to store inventory.  Apparently, the rationale
is that sellers don’t buy….

  What we want is:
Open a sets parts list and se if we have all of the parts?

Yep… nope.

Yes, there’s logos in the hollow studs on this part.

This is most obvious with rounded pieces such as 17485 or 18990.

IBAN is not onsite even though it is instant checkout.

Strictly speaking, it’s auto-invoice-able, as Instant Checkout = Auto-Invoice
+ Onsite Payment.

   I'd agree that the
buyer has used a hack to get more time to pay if they selected an IBAN option
when they intend to pay through PayPal, as the selected method holds the items
to give them more time to pay when selecting the payment method they will use
would not.

If you dont want them keep adding in multiple batches, you can mark the order
as packed and that would mean they cannot add to it. After your time limit, invoice
them with IBAN information as that is what they selected.

Yes, the buyer could at least have asked the seller before doing that.

If a seller wants to allow keep-open orders, they can.  If they don’t, that means
they don’t want such orders.

After seeing this for years I simply can't comprehend why someone would mix
up "buyer" and "seller".

Just like saying "I was the passenger" then "errr sorry I was the
driver" - how can you mix this? It seems common, maybe some english/US thing
I'm not aware of?

OP didn’t mix up buyer/seller, you just didn’t understand the unusually phrased
sentence.

They didn’t say “I tried to cancel as a buyer,” they said “I tried, as (a buyer
and I) agreed to cancel.”

There’s such things as nominal sentences.
Also, it’s not because Germanic languages speakers have troubles differenciating
/f/ and /v/ sounds that “off” (/of/) and “of” (/ov/) are the same words.

You didn't finish reading the sentence and got the context wrong The next
words were "and I agreed to cancel".

Here’s how the sentence is structured:

(Trying to put in a cancellation request)
as
((a buyer and I) have agreed to cancel)

So, “as” = “because,” not “in the role of.”

I must say though that “because when” is a bit unsettling.  I guess that it means
“I’m trying and not succeeding because” but I expected a simple “but.”

Medium CA perhaps? I used it once to repair a broken brittle blue plate, but
I don' recall actually using that plate afterwards, so I can't say for

Don’t use glue, use a solvent (one with aceton for instance).  But that won’t
solve (haha, pun) the problem, that’ll just repair/hide the symptoms.  Craks
happen for a reason, so the only way is to remove the cause.

Not yet.

For the moment, you can only upload as a new design (and then delete the old
one, or not).
This isn’t a problem for unpublished designs but, with published ones, you lose
the likes & comments.

It’s supposed to change “soon.”

I use the Studio 2.0 app to create the design.

Because, for the Studio forum, you need to set up your profile pic separately:
User control panel (bust icon in the very dark grey banner, on the right)
then Profile (second tab from the left just under the very dark grey banner)
then Edit Avatar (3rd entry from the top in the list on the left).
Of course, the rules are different too (90x90 and less than 6kiB).

Yes, there’s a “Download” link at the bottom of your list of orders ( https://www.bricklink.com/orderPlaced.asp

Well, when the list is not empty (:roll eyes.

It goes there: https://www.bricklink.com/orderExcel.asp?orderType=placed

You can download all your orders.  But orders older than 6 months don’t have
details (= items, colours, quantities), only the summary (who, when, totals…).

No - this won't help. It's just a clash between the LDraw and BrickLink
ids: the screenshot shows the 3D view, which is based on LDraw data. It would
be nice if the ids were harmonized, but sadly they aren't 100%, especially
when it comes to decorated or composite items.
The best thing to do IMHO would be to report these clashes to Bricklink and LDraw
and hopefully these can be fixed by their catalog admins in the future.

“Their catalog admins”?  Are you talking about LDraw?

That’s not how it works.

First, the IDs are different for the same reason they are different on Rebrickable
or in other databases: nomenclatures and IP.

Nomenclatures: Not everyone agree on how to number patterns.

IP: in 2014, BrickLink issued a Cease & Desist to BrickOwl for the use of BrickLink
IDs & names.

When the IDs are the same it’s because they are unpatterned, or are old / come
from Peeron, when everybody worked together.

That being said, many LDraw parts have the BL ID in their keywords (that is,
inside the file).
For instance, 3068bpx8.dat contains “BrickLink 3068bpb1126” as a keyword.

If you want a match between BL IDs and LDraw files, you may also try Studio’s
database (when Studio uses the LDraw file and hasn’t made its own).

  Hi,

Hi and welcome

I'm new to BrickLink and, embarrassingly, it's been 15 years since I
played with Legos.

Nothing to be embarrassed about.  Most of us have had a “dark age”

I'm looking to purchase a single new black 1x6 plate.
So I've added one to my Default Wanted List, then I go to said Default Wanted
List and click "Buy All." I'm taken to the Buy Wanted List page,
I click that I wish the store to accept US Dollar and to be located in North
America, and then I click "Auto-select." BrickLink suggests a store
to purchase from and I click "Create carts."

When I look at the cart from the suggested store, the plate costs $0.03 USD plus
$5.90 USD shipping and handling. Is this really the store with the cheapest
shipping for this one plate, or does the "Auto-select" algorithm not
search for the lowest shipping cost?

Thank you for your kind patience with me, since I'm a newbie.
Andrew

The algorithm can’t know the shipping price of every store.  It could for those
sellers that have Auto-Invoice (when the shipping is automatically calculated)
but many still have manual invoicing (the sellers calculate shipping on their
own).

What we have been told is that the algorithm uses an estimation (something about
the average cost for similar orders between the seller’s location and the buyer’s).

The algorithm also takes feedback into account (no idea how).

Honestly, Auto-select is a good start for a Wanted List but for only one part,
I’d just pick a reliable store with an acceptable shipping.  You’d best read
each store’s Terms anyway.
Or I’d wait to have a need for more parts

Hi
Sorry you seem to have misread my post. I don’t want to create a store on bricklink,
or sell my Lego on it. I am floating the idea of selling my entire Lego collection
to one of the sellers here for their store. The sale of my collection will be
private no on brick link. I’m just seeking interested parties.

Then Brickwilbo totally understood your intent: you are using BrickLink to find
buyers.  That’s the definition of “selling on BrickLink” and you need to be a
seller to do that.

Older people put those pains on “getting old” but it’s often “just” dehydration.
They need to check their water input because the thirst feeling disappears with
age (you don’t feel thirsty any more).

(Not saying anyone is old here! Just adding info )

Anyway, everything you do is AWESOME, so be proud. I appreciate what you do!!

Oh, because of this you could be excused for ANYTHING!

In my books, Jennnifer earned the right to be excused for anything long before
that… not that she needs to be excused anyway.
I mean, she even managed to explain MIDs to Nubs and he understood!

Select the one just got cancelled and open it, at the bottom there is a button
to add the contents to a Wanted list. Do it and then return to the store, go
to the wanted tab Shop tab and click Wanted Lists, then select the Wanted list
you created on the left and with a click in "Auto-Fill:[Min" (once per
page) you should easy add back all your items.

Nice! Didn't know, thx!

Seems logical as you can do that with orders but good to know it works with quotes
too

Not true.  The second is clearly a crystallic form and it’s not regular: the
protrusions are 3 sizes.

About this, often Brick & Mortar LEGO or more generic Toys Shop have also a shop

This permits them to have a seller contract with LEGO, buy Sets at discount for
their Shop and part out a part of them for their BrickLink Shop.

Yep, I forgot about that… but then their BL store is still “business” and not

Hi,

Studio expects a Wanted List XML file, not an Inventory XML file.  There’s a
few differences between the formats.  And the one difference that’s causing your
problem is that an Inventory uses a QTY field while a Wanted List uses a MINQTY
list.

So, you need to edit the downloaded file (it’s just text) and replace all the
occurrences of QTY by MINQTY.

That being said, the dedicated forum for Studio and PartDesigner is https://forum.bricklink.com/
(hover over the red Studio icon on every page, then click “Studio Forum”).

Please search the forum for your question before posting a new one (the search
box is in the very dark grey banner).
There’s indexes of known bugs and suggestions that you can browse first:
