Well,
  10% for handling,
+ 10% for PayPal,
+ 5% for BL,
= 15%

that was only mentioned in the
banner/slogan and seems to be exclusive to non-EU customers for "VAT reasons"
even though we have no VAT.

“VAT reasons” = “we don’t want to do the job of removing VAT as we ought to so
we call it a fee.”

If I’m not mistaken, a few shops do that and are from the same two EU countries.
It’s hard to say if it’s actually legal (maybe there’s a loophole but IANAL…).

Anyway, there’s been a few threads about them and they are still at it.  But
maybe BL will eventually do something if they keep receiving reports….

Maybe a few more people can support the proposal if we allow for more than 100
minutes to respond

That said, I think that you are doing great work here. Thanks!

p.s. An administrator expressed interest in the data I have to offer that will
make the commercial side of the website run better, like missing weights,
packaging dimensions, and images. Um . . . how about we organize things first?

Because I'm certain BL would gobble up the requested data and then "forget"
about organizing the mess.

Maybe you can provide the missing data for all the parts that have a name in
the new format, solving both catalog problems at once.

What is a town wheel, or a space wheel? What if a wheel is used in multiple themes?

Thank you for the input! I certainly agree with you.

However, I think it would be hard to get away from organizing by themes. And
use is just as problematic. In the absence of both descriptors, wheels would
simply go in order from smallest to largest. That, or be organized by their
attachment type.

I did suggest themes, but it will be a very limited number of them and very broadly
interpreted. If I remember correctly, there were only these 7:

1. Castle
2. Fabuland
3. Freestyle
4. Technic
5. Town
6. Space
7. Znap

Items 1, 2, 3, and 7 will only have a few or maybe a handful of wheels each.
The bulk of the wheels would be categorized as either Space, Technic, or Town.

No system is perfect, but better systems of organization may become evident in
the future. Refining an existing organization will be easier, I think. And
until then, we'd actually be doing something instead of spinning our
wheels.

2) The 25% fee was calculated on the shipping and tax charges as well as the

My order was approximately $106 USD, but the combination of a very high shipping
cost (which I believe was deliberately overcharged as well, based on other orders
I've made from Denmark), tax, and this exploitative fee that's also charged
on shipping/tax adds almost $80 to my order cost. Do I have a valid case for
cancellation based on either the contradictory statements around the fee, the
fee being "hidden" in the banner/slogan, the fee only being charged to non-EU
customers, or the fee being calculated on the tax? Can I report this seller for
avoidance of Bricklink fees?

-Jordy (Brickitty)

If it is not in the terms page, I'd ask to cancel. And you might as well
report for good measure, then let bricklink decide if they want such behaviour
on their site.

Thank you all for the input! The votes were:

Approach 1: 4
Approach 2: 1
Approach 3: 1
Approach 4: 1
Approach 5: 2

Approach 4 description: One member suggested wheels be described not by external
attributes such as theme, but instead by the intrinsic attributes of the part
itself. A primary part of this description would be the way the wheel attaches
to other parts (pin, axle, etc.).

Approach 5 description: Two members liked the first approach without using any
themes (space, town, etc.). So this is a combination of approaches one and three.

_____________________________________

Other member suggestions:

Keep descriptors like small, medium, and large (two members).

Use 10D/10W instead of 10mm D. x 10mm.

Remove the letter D. from titles.

Keep the letter D., but remove the period.

Add a space like so: 10 mm.

Keep the website coding format in mind when formatting diameter. Format titles
in a way that is most likely to return useable search results.

And some further assorted discussion revolving around representing diameter.

_______________________________________

So . . . here's what I've decided. I'm submitting the changes using
the first approach I outlined which had the highest number of votes. The changes
might sit there for a couple years, but I'm turning them in.

I really enjoyed all the discussion!! I got to hear from people I haven't
talked with in some time. I think good points were made, but I don't contract
with this company anymore. It's up to BrickLink to decide what they do with
your suggestions.

And a message to the BrickLink website: The Wheel category has probably
never been truly organized. My organization isn't perfect. Not everyone
will like it. But at least this section of the catalog will be organized if
you approve my suggestions.

Once it is actually organized, then you can think about looking at considering
on deciding how you want data formatted in titles. I know your goal's probably
to figure out the perfect way to format titles before you organize things.
And I'm sure you'll take years of board meetings, planning committees,
website surveys, technical consultations, etc., etc. to get anything done.

In the meantime, we have to scrabble through your junk drawers. Let me clean
up your 22-year-old mess. Then, in another decade or so, maybe you can spend
a few thousand dollars trying to comprehend how to clean it up "correctly."

p.s. An administrator expressed interest in the data I have to offer that will
make the commercial side of the website run better, like missing weights,
packaging dimensions, and images. Um . . . how about we organize things first?

Because I'm certain BL would gobble up the requested data and then "forget"
about organizing the mess.

There is no version number because this is currently listed as a gear item. It
will be made a set very shortly:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2541

All of the stickered parts are missing.

The correct procedure to add stickered Counterparts to BrickLink and a set inventory
is as follows:

(1) Add the stickered parts to the BrickLink catalog:

https://www.bricklink.com/wantedCatalog.asp?catType=P

Help on adding items to the BrickLink catalog:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=71

(2) Add images to the BrickLink catalog for the stickered parts:

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogImageAdd.page?itemType=P

Help on adding images to the BrickLink catalog:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=87

(3) Fill out an Inventory Change Request to add the stickered parts to the set
inventory after they are approved by a Catalog Associate or Catalog Administrator:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogInvChange.asp?itemType=S

The following videos are great tutorials for the process:

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1191009

Cheers,
Randy

I have given up on adding new stickered parts. I have stickered parts pending
since early in the year. Are they ever going to be added?

Is there any easy way to see / check who created the inventory ?

Yes, there is: https://www.bricklink.com/catalogListOld.asp?invPend=Y

As i said, its nearly been a couple of weeks, so I would like to ask them how
they are going and the AU bricklink stores are flooded with them now (though
not many selling as sets).

We already know when inventories are submitted, how long the inventories have
been pending, and when changes were last made. If things look like they are not
progressing, we are in constant communication with the submitters until the inventories
are finished or discarded. We do not try to hurry submitters or pressure them
until we feel we have allowed enough time for the work to be completed. My advice
would be to not personally contact them about it and assume that we as admins
will do the jobs we are assigned to do. In other words, a bit of patience is
required.

You guys do a super job, thank you!

Thank you very much. It is nice to receive compliments.

Dont mean to hassle, but I have 6 of them now and don't know if im better
to sell them as a set or just part it out.

Appreciate all the effort, if someone could have a look at this is would be super.

We are waiting for the user who submitted the inventory to say that everything
is complete. As of December 2nd, changes were still being made. When the user
says that the inventory is ready for verifying, it will be verified and approved
within a day or two.

I need to add a part to my inventory for sale but I can't find it in the
brick link catalog. It comes from set 75883. The part is 61678 and is green.
It has a sticker on it that says 'PETRONAS' and the part goes on the
right side of the race car in this set. However the sticker sheet is in the brick
link catalog.

Please advise.

You will need to add the part to the BrickLink catalog first. It's a bit
of a process but worth it! You've got the image already so you are more than
halfway there. I am happy to help walk you through it if you need any help.

.
I added some decorated parts to the catalogue in early 2022. They are STILL pending
approval... Is it just me or are older decorated parts not added to the catalogue
anymore?

J’ai une pièce lego de 2002 qui ressemble à une tête de souris, comprenant un
petit écran et fonctionnant à piles, mais je ne trouve pas de correspondance.
Une personne pourrait peut être savoir?

Title Section 2: Type. This will make sure that similar wheels can be shown near
each other in the catalog when sorting by name. I think that is convenient for
buyers.

+1

Title Section 3: Actual, measured size of the wheel hub in the format
"10mm D. x 10mm."

“⌀ 10mm x 10mm” or “d 10mm x 10mm”
or “10mm ⌀ x 10mm” or “10mm d x 10mm”

As hpoort said, there’s an international symbol for diameter, it’s never a good
idea to invent your own wheel ( ).

Title Section 4: Any other information deemed necessary.
