Hey!

Anyone know where the image went for this part?

[p=3069bpb0208]

It was there last week when I sold one and now... poof!

There's an entry to the Change Log on July 1st.

I love when brand new people come through... look at stuff for 5 minutes, and
then decide they know everything they need to know.

Really, the site is built on ASP, a really old language? No way! I bet none of
the owners, developers, contributors, volunteers, and members had any idea. Now
we can fix it!

{Insert sarcasm emoji here}

Sorry, just had to rant. Of course, we all want to see better design, bug fixes,
and updates where appropriate. But, if you take away my ancient-looking really
awesome Forum, we are going to have some words.

  Hey guys,

This has been bugging me for a while. Every time I look at the Bricklink Community,
I keep thinking "woah, all those posts in such a cluttered UX... not sure where
I'd start" and then decide not to post. I mean, it took me a little while
to actually get to the forum index, organised in a way I've seen with other
boards. But then I hit a topic (like this one, [Suggestions]) and get thrown
back to the unorganized, plain text hierarchy. Is there no way for us to implement
the same software that runs the Stud.io forums? Why even two separate forums
running separate software? I mean, I think it has to do with Bricklink and Stud.io
being two separate legal entities, but still, it feels weird and counter intuitive.
It's the second decade of the 21st century, why the outdated look and feel?

Because there is more to this Forum than just looks. There are built-in tools
and features here which are essential to catalog work. Aside from being able
to ping someone (which is a feature that needs a great deal of moderation), I
don't think it is lacking for those that know how to use it.

  Hi there

I started updating the inventory for a set, and have reserved it. Now a day later,
I have no idea in how to get back to the screen where I can update the inventory
of the set I've reserved

Any help appreciated

Cormac

Add or Change tab, Add Inventory: -Set

It’s the same page you reserved it from, second column.

FYI: Put in your set number and a lot quantity of 1. The next page will tell
you if the data is available for your set.

Good luck!

The way to tell them apart is:
That the old version is cut with the fiber in + position and the c version in

I am sorry, but I do not believe this correct. There are both 40mm and 39mm versions
that are cut on the bias (fiber in the x position), so it is not possible to
tell the difference from a minifig image or video.

Just to add more confusion: there is one more variant unpictured. A 522 which

I wonder if these are actually variants - it could be that to waste as little
fabric as possible, some capes are cut on the bias. If the shape approximates
a triangle with angles 45°, 67.5°, 67.5°, then 8 capes could be cut from a circle
of fabric, and four of these would be cut on the bias

That's an interesting speculation! It's too bad we don't know anyone
at the LEGO group who could add some insight to our conversation.

It’s fair to presume that all capes produced within the last few years are the
slightly shorther, thinner texture ones. However, as the difference is so subtle
(& not obvious to most people), I believe that 522c should be merged into 522
& removed from the catalog entirely to avoid any further confusion.

That's very valid and should be considered. When I added the variant to the
catalog, there was no other good way to document that the part had been slightly
changed. Also, some collectors were VERY much for the new version being split
from the old.

I am fine with either solution as long as the recent 522 listings are all reconfirmed
and correct.

Thanks for being part of the discussion!

Yep, all catalog discussions (exept Packing Dimensions and Catalog Identification)
are now "suggestions" and won't be purged anymore. Russell made the changes
last week. So hopefully we won't loose important catalog discussions anymore.

That's great! Thanks for sharing this info.

Regarding these changes:

Are you going to leave these changes in place while you investigate the capes?
Many sellers have these minifigs for sale and could now be accused of having
the wrong part. I believe it would be best to confirm right away that this change
was initiated by someone who had the parts in hand and can confirm the differences.

Also, it's entirely possible that if the older 4mm capes ARE back in service,
that they are alternate parts. There are many aspects of this change request
that concern me!!

The black cape is included in four Star Wars minifigs from 2020:
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=522&in=A&itemYear=2020&colorID=11&ov=Y

I find it hard to believe that two of them came with 522 and the other two had
522c. (As said, 522 and 522c have the same PCC). So it is possible two of them
have been wrong since the beginning anyway and now, they are either all wrong
or all correct. I asked the submitter of the requests to help us with this.

Let me know if there is anything I can help with...

This is starting to sound to me like a great excuse to finally get a copy of
that gorgeous Cantina set.

(having owned all Star Wars minifigs which are taken from new sets) to compare
the capes that came within the Cantina set for the Labria (sw1126) & Garindan
(sw1127) minifigs.
Having compared their capes to many other recent SW minifigs I found no difference
in either size or texture between them & came to the conclusion that whoever
initially inventoried the two Cantina minifigs must of mistakenly assigned cape
522c.

Thanks for clarifying your request! You have confirmed that the recent capes
are the same, which is good, now we just need to know which type they all are.

I think it's pretty clear now that the capes need to be confirmed by measuring
and comparing with a known 522. And by that, I mean one that came out before
2016.

There has definitely been confusion caused by the term 'shiny' here.
I can easily see how a few capes could have been mistakenly listed.

Here are a couple quick images. It's not a perfect comparison as the older
one is a bit creased. I will need to dig a bit deeper in my collection to find
a 522 that is fresh from its sleeve.

The top Red 522c cape is from:

Minifig No: dim019 Name: Superman - Red Eyes on Reverse, Shiny Starched Cape
*
dim019 (Inv) Superman - Red Eyes on Reverse, Shiny Starched Cape
Minifigures: Dimensions: Super Heroes: Superman

It has a light sheen, feels thinner and less starched, is 39mm long, and the
part is cut with the weave on the bias. (diagonal)

The bottom Red 522 cape is an older variant. It has no sheen, feels quite starched,
is 40mm long, and the part is cut perpendicular to the weave.

Just to add more confusion: there is one more variant unpictured. A 522 which
has a light sheen, feels quite starched, is 40mm long, and is also cut on the
bias.

I will keep digging for fresh parts to create better comparison images.

My point is that it's best to tell the difference by measuring a flattened
cape and not from a video. The newer cape also weighs .01g less.

We should probably take a moment to fix the Shiny and Traditional terms on these
as they are very subjective. (I can practically hear Stormchaser right now insisting
on the better, more accurate terms.)

Hope this helps!

LEGO really switch back to the original after the variant was added so long ago?
I haven't been actively working on new sets so I don't know for myself.

Fair point, unfortunately I don't own any of these "shiny" capes myself.
But yes, it seems the original capes are back or maybe they were never really
phased out.
As you can see, Marek inventoried several new figures with 522 in 2019 and 2021:
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?M=sw1029
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?M=sw1063
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?M=sw1112

So I checked some pics of those figures at Brickset and I would say they all
show the same cape variant, so I assumed it is 522.
https://brickset.com/article/54044
https://brickset.com/article/45922
https://brickset.com/article/43362
https://brickset.com/article/53635

But maybe that's not correct and we have an even bigger mess with them?

Btw, LEGO has the same number for all black capes (with starched fabric) since
1999:
https://brickset.com/sets/containing-part-4124171
(Including the cape from

Set No: 71221 Name: Fun Pack - The Wizard of Oz (Wicked Witch and Winged Monkey)
*
71221-1 (Inv) Fun Pack - The Wizard of Oz (Wicked Witch and Winged Monkey)
33 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 2015
Sets: Dimensions: Dimensions Wave 1: The Wizard of Oz
)

So it is really a tricky thing with these capes.

Keep in mind that the 'shiny' in the name of 522c only indicates that
there is a light sheen to the fabric by comparison to 522. It is not reflective
or actually shiny.

Thanks for point that out - I think I need to add a "shiny" cape to my collection
to see the difference myself.
Would you mind submitting a comparison image for 522 vs 522c (assuming the difference
is visible in a photo)?

Yes, I will create some images. I recall the differences were well documented
here on the Forum when the variant was reported with Loki:

Minifig No: sh033 Name: Loki - 4.0cm Height Starched Fabric Cape
*
sh033 (Inv) Loki - 4.0cm Height Starched Fabric Cape
Minifigures: Super Heroes: The Avengers

Minifig No: sh033a Name: Loki - 3.9cm Height Starched Fabric Cape
*
sh033a (Inv) Loki - 3.9cm Height Starched Fabric Cape
Minifigures: Super Heroes: Iron Man

But that conversation is long gone. The differences are slight, but the new variant
was added to stave off future problems with people claiming the newer one was
a fake.

My suspicion is that all capes since 2016 are likely 522c and that the word 'shiny'
in the description caused people to choose the older variant. I was actively
confirming the part while I was inventory admin, but a few seem to have slipped
through since then. Like I said, I could be wrong about this as I haven't
opened a lot of new sets lately.

The conversation about this fig's cape centered on the color but there are
no comments on the simultaneous change in part number:

Minifig No: coltlbm27 Name: Clock King, The LEGO Batman Movie, Series 2 (Minifigure Only without Stand and Accessories)
*
coltlbm27 (Inv) Clock King, The LEGO Batman Movie, Series 2 (Minifigure Only without Stand and Accessories)
Minifigures: Collectible Minifigures: Super Heroes: The LEGO Batman Movie: The LEGO Batman Movie Series 2

This part pretty much needs to be measured with a decent ruler to confirm which
variant it is. You could merge 522 and 522c and just add it to the list of unsplit
variants, but I think collectors will not like that very much.

I'll get to work on the images...

Thanks!

* Add 1 Part 522 Black Minifigure Cape Cloth, Standard - Traditional Starched Fabric - Height 4 cm (22231)

Interesting, just yesterday I was wondering if 522c is really the correct variant
here. We cannot ask the original submitter anymore, but based on several review
photos of the set I agree that the capes look more like 522.

Oh my god I could hardly believe this was real, had to check it with my own
eyes. So that's how Bricklink fixed it huh, casually telling its users to
click 500 individual boxes (on a page that you don't check when you do a
part-out) Haha that's really beyond ridiculous. This is a known problem
for at least years 3 years now... and in all this time, this is what they came
up with Dan made the entire part-out system from scratch in less than that
time, 20 years later there's a whole team of people telling you to check
500 boxes because nobody can figure out a fix

I believe fixing this would require them to touch the old 'spaghetti code'
section of the site. I would rather check 500 boxes than risk them breaking the
entire part out system. For some reason, I don't trust them to do it right...

To my knowledge, the workaround came from members figuring out a solution, sharing
it with the Forum, and catalog and inventory admin posting the information on
the affected sets.

Has this even been acknowledged by the BL office? It certainly is not listed
here:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2453&q=roadmap

You can't fix a problem you don't know or care about.

BL customer service only operates during normal business hours. They supposedly
work on tickets in the order they are received. They have been known to fall
many days or even weeks behind.
Are you getting automated email responses with ticket numbers? There is a bug
in the Help desk system that any request which does not generate a ticket number
is never received by the office.

Sorry that this has happened to you. I can only imagine how frustrating it is.

Hello,

I was hoping someone who has this part in hand can confirm the number molded

[p=68942pb01]

I rather suspect that this part number is just the design ID and that it's
really a decorated version of this:

Attached is a screen grab from a youtube unboxing video.

Thanks!

Hello,

I am working on set 21327 and found a new mold number 60591 for part 41530. It
has a new PCC as well: 6289758

The molds appear nearly identical except for the spoke pattern on the center
axle hole. The variations are exactly the same as the what has been previous
found on part 4265c.

Unfortunately, the weight is also different. 41530 weighs 2.40g on my scale and
the newer version weighs only 2.05g.

Please add 60591 as an alternate number unless you would prefer a new catalog
entry.

Ah okay thanks, I think I've got it. I entered £1.99 on the Order page and
then Submit Changes. It changed the Invoice to have £1.99 shipping. I assume
it will inform the buyer of this and they now pay the invoice?

No, you still have to send the invoice. It really is manual.
I added links to some Help sections that might be useful in my previous message.

Hello!!
My name is (Scammer) but I go by JBBrickFanatic online. I’m from Indiana and
I run
a YouTube channel of 6000+ subscribers. I have this crazy idea for a video/video
series that you could help me with!
I want to own the worlds biggest collection of part no. 15392 “Dark Bluish Gray
Projectile Launcher Part, Trigger for Gun, Mini Blaster / Shooter.”
It’s such an odd part with no real connection abilities outside of the stud shooter.
I am not sure how often they sell, but I am sure it’s taking up space in your
shop.
Even though it is such a small and cheap part, buying a ton does get expensive
and it would be amazing if we can make some sort of deal to help me get these
for free or maybe much cheaper (ex. I pay shipping). I could point folks to your
store, or do something in return for your help. Let’s make a deal!
Thank you so much, and let me know what you think!
Sincerely, JB

It's funny that they have chosen one of the smallest LEGO parts for an example
of something that is "taking up space"

Yes, I have a hundred of these in a 2x3 inch baggie. Wherever will I find room
to store all these?!

Doesn't someone want to buy all my unwanted Wedges and Windscreens instead?

You should create a Wanted List with a variety of bricks and colors you like
and search for stores with items that way. Very few sellers here sell unsorted
lots. Start at the heart shape Want at the top of the page, or go to the Catalog
page for each brick you are looking for and click Add to Wanted List.

How does this work with invoicing? Do I need to calculate the vat, or is that

Sales taxes are absolutely collected for you when buyers use invoiced
shipping methods from any state where it is required. (Most of them.)

Make sure you have all the necessary columns visible on your Orders Received
page so you can be more aware of this.

It also shows on the Order Detail and Edit Order pages. It should show on your
invoice, but may not if you are using a custom template.

Good luck,

Yes, the weight was the first thing I checked! They were all very close to 4.75
grams. There is a 02/4 molded on one end and a barely discernable (at 5x magnification)
@LEGO at the other end.

The model is going just fine once these were encased. I should have the inventory

Must be the new plant based raw materials...
Since it's plant based you might be able to put it in your salad with some
Balsamic and croutons
LEGO has worked so many years to perfect their plastic formulas to become less
brittle and have less issues with color; Hoping we don't have to go through
sub-par parts with the switch to sustainable materials, also wondering how those
materials will hold long term in comparison to the tried and true.
You could probably still complete the build and it'll align once it's
built.
Good Luck.
THB

Well, for sure these are not brittle.
Mostly my worry was about how it will affect sellers opening these sets to part
out. Could you imagine if I sold someone those axles New (as they were) and the
reaction I would absolutely receive from my buyer?

Here is an image of the first page of the instructions where they are used. Them
being bent all over the place made it fairly annoying to build. However, they
end up being completely encased and there appears to be no problem with the model
from all that warping.

These axles do feel VERY bendy. I would only consider them a close cousin to
the black axles from older sets like this one:

Yes.

I shipped a parcel to a US customer on june 21st, already today it is in the
US. Expected delivery between jun 26th - jul 1st.

Not all mail is affected evenly. I have international orders from last month
that have not been processed and an order sent last week that is already in it's
country.

Why would there be such a difference between domestic and international?

he order ?

The difference is that, when customs or a sorting facility falls behind, they
leave the packages not finished that day in a container on the side. The next
day, they process the new mail and if they finish in time, go back and start
working on the older packages.

We have Mr. DeJoy to thank for this brilliant and ridiculous process.

You can choose the default template or create your own. There are two different
sets of macro tags that sellers can use to customize what their customers see.

The last two payment updates broke this system. The US sales tax was fixed behind
the scenes (or I completely missed any announcement) The UK Vat update is not
yet working with this system. I linked to that discussion in my original post,
but I guess you missed that.

https://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=291487&nID=1276733

Here are some threads to read of the history of what has happened.

https://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=276205&nID=1225916
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1227684

You will want to be sure the new system also works with Quotes!

If anyone on the Panel is reading this, please emphasize to BL how important
it is to have a seller involved with site updates and beta testing.

Please be sure to update all the seller information regarding invoicing for this
process. We need the macro pages updated and correct. We need to know if necessary
changes will be applied to the default invoice template.

There is no information currently available regarding the UK VAT collection and
seller invoices!

https://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=291487&nID=1276733

Our invoices were messed up when you added Sales Tax.
Our invoices are messed up from the UK VAT collection.

Please break this trend and address this issue for sellers. We need confidence
that our invoicing and payments are correct.

If they chose Paypal instead of Paypal (Onsite) at checkout then there will be
no payment button. Look on the Order Detail page and check the 'Payment By:'

  Hi All,

I ordered parts from a well known seller in the US and paid by paypal. It was
shipped by USPS with tracking. Package hasn't been scanned since 18 may,
so that's not good.

When I contacted the seller, he referred to his TOS where he stated that he
is not responsible for lost packages.

Well I think (read know) he is because he's an official seller so (at least
in Europe not sure how it is in the US) a seller is responsible for the delivery
of the goods. And secondly he accepted a payment by paypal so he is bound to
paypal terms.

What are you're thoughts about this ? Can a seller put in terms which are
against the law ? Should BL make an general TOS where all sellers are bound
too ? should I read his terms and not place the order ?

I sent two international packages from Chicago on May 26. Neither one has been
scanned since the 30th when they left my local post office. I wouldn't declare
your package lost just yet. Things are very, very slow right now.

On the other hand, your seller should be working with you at this point, not
denying responsibility.

I wish more buyers would stop shopping at stores that publicly say they won't
help their customers. There is nothing illegal in the US about their terms. It's
just not good business.

Only parts that actually appear in a set inventory are listed under Known Colors.
But you should be able to list the part for sale in white once you have it in
hand.

I have them in-hand now but am no closer to knowing how to get them added to
the catalog.

They won't be 'added to the catalog' until they appear in an inventory
for a set. However, you can still list them for sale. The day after you add them
to your store, the color will appear on the Catalog item page under Lots For
Sale and then the Price Guide Info after they sell. You can submit an image to

"known color" means it is in at least one set inventory on BL. So long as there
are no inventories published on BL with that part in reddish brown, it will not
show up under "known color".

Large envelope is for paper. Packages are for LEGO.

Yes, mailers can ship that way if they fit the dimensions although the postal
clerk won't like it. (They see mailers and think: package.) However, you
can't ship LEGO that way because of the other rules not related to dimensions.
Besides, Large envelopes are run through the sorting machines and that is not
good for your parts!

"What I also see is that there are many the same kind of items without dimensions.
So a lot of torsos (without arms, 973*), but I also see a lot of stickered items,
for example I have 73 1x4 tiles (2431*) with stickers that have no dimensions,
why don't those stickered items inherent there dimensions from the unstickered
'parent'.
A sticker (or print) will not make the peace larger, yes the sticker will ad
a very small dimension increase, but I don't think anyone is able to measure
that (with normal equipment)."

This.

The catalogue contains really thousands and thousands of items that could be
fixed in a minute by BL itself. Basically all printed tiles / bricks / shields
and other printed parts have the same packing dimensions as their unprinted versions.
Same for torso's, legs, heads.

While it's nice that you added this feature you could have done the
above first. This wouldn't be too much of a problem to program/execute, right?
So for all element that have a pb extension this could be automated.
Examples:

Part No: 3004 Name: Brick 1 x 2
*
3004 Brick 1 x 2
Parts: Brick {Blue}
has 244 printed or stickered variants

[P=3069b,7]
has 969 printed or stickered variants

Part No: 2431 Name: Tile 1 x 4
*
2431 Tile 1 x 4
Parts: Tile {Blue}
has 793 printed or stickered variants

and 973pb* (torso) brings up 8620 items - all have the same weight and
packaging dimensions.
Here's the link for this search: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/search.page?q=973pb*#T=A

Russell, now that TLG owns BL you have a wealth of resources that you could have
used before asking the community to help.

TL;DR: why do you ask the BL (seller)community to fill in the gasps in your inventory
while BL/TLG could have this problem solved easily for thousands of parts (perhaps
90% of the parts that are missing packing dimensions).

Did you add it just today? To my knowledge, those menus populate during the daily

like to get them added as well. Please direct me to where to submit this info.

Submit new IDs in the Add or Change tab. Change Item: - Part

Items show up automatically when they are listed in the inventory for a set.
What set are these parts from?

Also, how does one submit a photo for a new color?

Add or Change tab. Add Image: - Part.

I believe it is preferred that images are only listed for parts in known colors.

Yeah I can believe that, but I really just want to know if they're fake.

Okay. You said you suspected they were fake due to their low quality. I informed
you that the real stickers for that set have low quality. Since their quality
is no longer at issue, what specifically makes you still think they are fake?

Fake stickers for this set are widely available online but I'd bet that the
fake ones stick better than the real ones.

The stickers from that set are notoriously bad. They peel off and crack very

Seems you need to reset your invoice template since the last update.

There are 3 new macro tags:

{ORDERVAT-EQ:Y}{/ORDERVAT-EQ:Y}
{VATLABEL}
{ORDERVAT}

Ah, this is the info I was looking for! Where is the reference location for this
info? I don't see anything matching that on either of the macro help pages.

Thanks!

Update if anyone is following along...

I sent the invoice and checked my copy. There is no indication anywhere of the
amount of VAT that is estimated or charged. (This still seems like a major
problem to me, but what can you do? I would still appreciate it if someone from
BL can explain to sellers how to send invoices that are correct.)

The buyer paid right away (yeah!) and I received an email titled 'Your LEGO@
BrickLink VAT Invoice' There is also a large banner and link on the Order
Detail page.

So, I guess half of the process seems to be working very well.

I believe I also need to attach proof of VAT to the outside of the package. The

Where will this form be provided to me?

Thanks all for your help!

I think yes

Well, actually, maybe it is after payment not after invoicing.

Thanks for giving me the head's up about that!

Okay, well I guess I will go ahead and send the invoice with the mystery total
and hope that the VAT form shows and up and is correct somehow...

I keep running into issues with buyers where USPS packages are being delayed

Domestic packages or international ?

Most of my domestic packages are moving along right now. I do not ship international,
so someone else will have to speak to those.

One suggestion is that you absolutely need to get scans when you hand it over.
Once USPS scans it, then it is documented as being in their possession, and various
delivery metrics begin to run. If you just leave them on the counter, then exit
the post office, it may. or may not, get scanned the same day.

Nita Rae

The OP stated that they are waiting in line and getting scans. There have been
a ton of problems in northern Illinois over the last three months. Things are
just getting back to normal again these past two weeks.

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1267628

I had two packages lost before they ever got to a sorting center and a 8-14 day
delay with many of my First Class orders. I also had to start waiting in line
for scans so my customers wouldn't see only 'Label Created' tracking
and assume that I hadn't shipped their order.

When you place an order on BrickLink, your seller spends time reviewing it, invoicing
you, pulling the parts, weighing/estimating items for shipping.

How do you account for their time if you can keep placing and canceling orders?
Most of us are just individuals running our businesses out of our homes. We are
not big companies that can easily absorb these kinds of incidental costs.

Also, keep in mind that BrickLink displays how many canceled orders a seller
has right on their storefront feedback page. It might seem like a small thing,
but lots of canceled orders do throw up red flags.

Lastly, sellers feel vulnerable to neutral or negative feedback when they cancel
an order for a buyer who simply changed their mind.

Please consider your sellers when you are shopping here!

I'm not asking you to blow $250 on this question unless you really want to...

Well, the price tag on the box says only $39.99

But, now I see the Tactical Droid was featured in the last Bad Batch episode
so I should open the set and keep the droid, right??

They haven’t had orders in a while, so could it be the sales tax issue because

Short answer: stores need an onsite payment method to allow for sales tax collection.

Long answer: Search 'seller doesn't ship to' to find lots of posts

I am wondering if perhaps the Inventory Note on these problem sets needs to also
be displayed on the Catalog Detail page.

"Due to the massive number of lines in this inventory (1000+), the BrickLink
system may time out during the partout process. If this happens, you may wish
to part out the set in two different halves."

There are too many similar Forum questions to indicate that sellers are finding
this information on their own. I guess the average seller does not read the inventory
pages of sets they are parting out. We should do something to help out!

High-quality photos are always appreciated. FYI: renders are used as the main
image (as a general standard) when a part comes in many different colors for
consistency's sake. Photos can be used as an Additional image. For decorated
items and unique parts, photos are preferred.

Be sure to use a white background and crop the images very closely. The thumbnail

Thanks for the link and the explanation. I will look into finding the clear packets
that are needed. Unfortunately, I don't sell very much overseas anymore because
who wants to pay $15 to ship a package? When I started it cost $3 to send the
same thing. That's some crazy inflation in less than 10 years.

  Dear Bricklink Admins

I am worried and hope you can help me.
I have just visited the new Bricklink R3 Website and I have a few questions about
this future website.

Altough it looks visually very pleasing, I hvae two concerns / questions.

What happenes to the other 3 Categories Gears / Catalogs / Books? Are they going
to be
deleted? Will it be not anymore possible to buy old OFFICIAL Lego catalogs on
Bricklink?

Secondly, are you going to delete the Sub-Themes /Sub-Categories?
There is only castle and all castle sets cannot anymore be divided in sub-categories,
which was very handy in order to find certain sets?

Is this just an early version of the upcoming website or are these the final
changes?
I really hope Bricklink won't lose that much of information, possibilities
and content!

With the kindest regards
Barthon

I believe that the shocking lack of categories was one of the loudest and most
frequent concerns about BrickLink XP. It was supposed to make the website seem
less 'confusing' for newbies. I don't see how they can possibly switch
to that catalog structure without dumping the entire idea that BrickLink houses
the best LEGO Reference Catalog. A LEGO representative publicly promised that
the Classic site would continue to be supported no matter what. However, I don't
know how much that promise is worth really...

  Hello,

I sometimes have the question from new buyers how this is being calculated. This
is an example. Someone bought €2,45 at a store but order total becomes €3,96?
Where is this calculation coming from? I can't found out. It's not with
shipping price or...? Can someone give me some more information about this?

Maybe it has to do with one of the 'in progress' items here?

downtime from the server?).

Just wondering what other people's thoughts are now that they've had
control of the site for a while. Better, worse, about the same?

I would guess that LEGO has done very little that has directly affected the site
up to this point except:

Non-LEGO items have been removed.
Some language and terms have been updated.
The sales tax/brexit/vat issues were met head on, but I don't know if LEGO
was the impetus for this.
Our volunteer admin are now called Experts.
A few surveys have come and gone...

Did I miss anything?

Lots of people are assuming the LEGO is now in direct control, but I haven't
seen any evidence that this is the case. Help Desk is still slow. Bugs still
aren't fixed. Transparency is actually getting worse. Shrug.

Hello all,

I have updated my Common Tire Sorting Guide:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/mfflmbrgrwq660d/LEGO%20Common%20Tire%20Sorting%20Guide%202021.pdf?dl=0

It's meant to help you sort out all those pesky tires quickly and accurately.
Remember to be sure that you print it out actual size if you want to be able
to just line your parts up with the images on the page.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions for improvements or notice any
errors that need fixing! If the dropbox download isn't working for you, just
send me a message to get a direct copy.

Take care,

Properly, in English grammar, when there is a countable noun, we do not use the
quantitative adjective "less". That's flat-out wrong. We must say "fewer".

We can say "less milk," but not "less cookies." We must say "fewer cookies."

So here, English grammar demands that we say "Fewer Filters."

I do think that correcting this error will enhance the site's professionalism.

You are correct about the grammar. However, “less” is very commonly used this
way in the United States. Much more commonly than “fewer”. There is a fuzzy
line between poor grammar and a language evolving. They’re/there/their is clearly
on one side of the line for me, as an example, but less/fewer doesn’t bother
me.

I like this point of view!

My kid loved the Weird Al Word Crimes video when he was little. It's been
playing in my head since this thread started yesterday...

I have a mad buyer because he ordered 87568pb02L and 47566 was stamped on the
piece. According to him: 47566pb02L has a light gray print and 87568pb02L has
a white print.

Part No: 87568pb02L Name: Arm Mechanical, General Grievous with White Pattern on Left

87568pb02L Arm Mechanical, General Grievous with White Pattern on Left
Parts: Minifigure, Body Part

He himself said he knows that bricklink has 47566pb02L as an alternate item number
to 87568pb02L but also says that I listed on the wrong listing. I got that piece
from a new set and know I listed it correctly.

So is there actually a difference in print between the two? If so, there should
be a note on the listing (like 2345p01)

Part No: 2345p01 Name: Panel 3 x 3 x 6 Corner Wall with Black Lines Pattern
*
2345p01 Panel 3 x 3 x 6 Corner Wall with Black Lines Pattern
Parts: Panel, Decorated

to 92747pb01).

Part No: 92747pb01 Name: Minifigure, Shield Elliptical with SW Gungan Patrol Shield Pattern (Undetermined Type)
*
92747pb01 Minifigure, Shield Elliptical with SW Gungan Patrol Shield Pattern (Undetermined Type)
Parts: Minifigure, Shield
Marked for Deletion

The buyer is having a very hard time understanding that I didn't
make a mistake. He's saying it's my responsibility to make sure I list
items correctly, which I did.

I am not sure about the differences, but since BL only has one entry for all
versions, it's up to the buyer to inquire if the seller has the exact variation
they wish to buy. They placed an order for 87568pb02L and you don't have
a crystal ball. ( I assume so, anyway.) I looked quickly and didn't see other
sellers listing this part with a note about the number or print color.

We need our resident Star Wars minifig expert! I only have the older version
so I can't help with the comparison.

Good luck with your buyer... hope they listen to reason.

What is your BrickLink rule of thumb to organizing inventory and pulling orders?

Condition / Category / Size / Color

I pull orders alphabetically by Item Name since that mostly aligns with Categories.

I've heard that sorting by parts not color is a good one. Another is cutting/taping
your own boxes to save on shipping.

This takes a lot of time. If I sold a lot of sets, it might be worth it, but
I mostly sell parts and ship small orders.

And a lot of pros and cons to setting a minimum price/lots.

You need a minimum unless you are just trying to raise your feedback. Otherwise,
you will be losing money on itty bitty orders. Buyers hate lot limits. Don't
use them unless you have to.

My sub-query would be; are there any slow sellers that you
leave in the odd parts bin, or push to the end of the queue (of listing parts)?

Wheels, Tires, Wedges, Windscreens. Hate 'em.

Lastly, is BrickStock worth it or is Rebrickable a nice alternative?

Never tried either one. Shrug.

Thanks,
cycbuild

Good luck!

Sometimes I don’t understand why we should feel the need to go to such lengths
to edit Legos official renders or even Legos official colour names as in doing
so we just seem to create further problems for ourselves?

Honestly, we are going to these lengths because we think we are actually solving
a problem. Most of our renders are now fairly good, some of them are still bad.

If these official Lego renders were used as White, LBG, DBG and Black I would
soon become accustomed enough to be able to tell the difference regardless of
whether I’m able to see them side by side or not...

And then we have new sellers getting them all mixed up while they are 'becoming
accustomed'? And new buyers ordering the wrong thing?

**The best solution is to have the most renders possible with the best color
accuracy.**

Anyone can contribute and fix the remaining problems with this issue. I should
mention that fixing some of the colors like Tan and Dark Tan are a bit more challenging
to get right than others. Most of the bad examples in the OP were actually some
of my early attempts that need to get brought up to randyf's standard.

I will set aside some time today to contribute some better versions.

Take care,

for example, looks much darker than it ought

But a lot of this comes down to simple display settings for instance on my PC
LCD they currently look perfect whereas on my Laptop they look a little too dark
but something easily adjustable for those that are bothered by it. Either way
at least all those example Lego images are uniform in colour/shading and that's
the important thing as the OP's examples show tan in different colours altogether?
besides if they're good enough for Legos official site I don't see any
reason why they shouldn't be good enough to use on Bricklink?

Here is where we agree to disagree. I don't how LEGO using them makes
them good enough for our uses. They are not pulling parts using their images.
The accuracy means nothing to them. They use different images in their instructions
booklets and on printed material.

I think their renders are only clear if you have another render to compare them
to. At a glance, the White look LBG, the LBG look DBG, and the DBG look Black.
The Trans images are all terrible. The Yellow all look... well not Yellow.

Would you really go pull a White part from just seeing this render? randyf's
images are WAY closer to the truth.

No, we went from 2D line-drawn renders to a mixture of LEGO and BrickLink's
3D renders.

LEGO's are better than BL's but their colors are still bad. The old renders
were awesome for color accuracy but apparently off-putting to people who thought
them old-fashioned.

Photos would be great, but to really work, they would all need to be consistent
and continuously updated. No magic button that I know of to make this problem

Oh well, just in case, if there's a fix also for Dark Tan... I'd love
to use it

Much of this would be achievable if we focused on using Legos official images
wherever possible expecially when it comes to generic bricks but it would take
a lot of time to expect community volunteers to go through and update them all.
Personally I think this needs to be done by an allocated Lego employee that also
deals with the images on their own site

If it was done this way all the parts in your examples would look correct and
as below for both Tan and Dark Tan respectively:-

The LEGO renders ARE the problem. They are so badly lit that some colors are
very poorly represented. Members like randyf took it upon themselves to adjust
each file manually to make the images actually resemble our colors. This is totally
worth it in my opinion. I can also adjust renders but I am not as good as he
is at it. If anyone ever wants an existing render to be improved, just drop me
a message and I will try and fix it.

This is a problem that can be fixed with a bit of effort and skill. I have not
seen a perfect set of renders out there for us to use, so this is what we have.
Trying to make the best of it!

Ouch! You got me there: I harbor no good feelings toward the BL office. However,
I do generally admire your positivity and wish I had more of it. I used to look
on the better side of things and now I don't.

There's too many things that could be better if they chose to make them better.
This rankles me. I do try to be supportive and kind when I see genuine effort.
I help newbies, I support our admin, I contribute. So, I am incessant in wanting
things to be better. You're right. 'Denigrating' implies that I am
lashing out without cause. Is that fair?

I don't feel good about what happened. I think we are worse off. If I came
across as disingenuous, that was not my intent.
Take care,
Jen

He has my gratitude. What I also feel is a sense of responsibility as a member
of this community to seek reassurance that he was treated fairly.
