|
| Should dual molded legs or arms in their respective assemblies really be considered
as decorated?
To me BL considered the decorated as by means of printing or applying decoration
using stickers.
example
the reasoning is, how is that any different from legs assembly with single color
legs but different color hips or mismatched leg colors?
I feel the same way about dual molded arms
There are reasons for not separating them, mainly for new buyers not knowing
or caring about the difference or just the general way of looking at it, but
I feel like there is no real definition for the term decorated that should be
defined. As far I am concerned, dual color molding is not really decorating.
Any thoughts?

The number next to it corresponds to the length of the cable, or is it the length

Thank you for your answers.

| Hello,
the item 6468 is according to the catalog 1x3x4. This seems correct with the
picture.
However, it is referenced as being used in item 6460. That is not correct with
the dimensions.
I post a picture of the window/door that fits 6460. You can clearly see it fits,
but has other dimensions as item 6468.

| Hi, I have a 1x2 plate that has a sticker on it, I have gone to list it and have
found that it is marked for deletion because the sticker was applied to the wrong
part.
I have got this model at home and also have the instructions for it. the sticker
has been applied to the correct part as it shows it clearly on the instructions.
Who do we contact in order to get the deletion cancelled?
Part number is 3023pb01, you can see clearly in the picture that the sticker
is applied to the 1x2 plate and not the mudguard.

| Is there any way for me to view the weight/dimensions of a set from its catalog

I commonly use this when quoting shipping for a buyer so I don't have to

|
| Happy day The time that is spent differentiating between mold variants is
certainly not worth it money-wise, but worth it in other ways.
A customer purchased some classic 2555's. Apparently we still sent two different
variants to him. Sure, most of the older parts have various mini-differences,
just never thought anyone would actually care about getting a specific variant.
Either way, I was not aware of this particular difference.
Our customer described it as 'The wider ones and the narrower ones' and
sent us a picture, circling the different variants. A bit hard to see, I am attaching
one more.
The difference itself is in the sharpness of the outside/inside edges - the very
tops the clips. Principally kind of similar to the difference between classic
and modern 2555, except much more subtle. Difficult to judge if looking at the
edge itself, but becomes easy when comparing from the top view. At least when
you have two pieces to compare
The left one has, call it, completely sharp edge. The right one has a slight
roundness to it. That rounding comes at a cost of reducing the top surface area
of the clip.
Complete list of the differences between the two:
The 'flat top' type:
* Sharper edge / bigger top surface area of the clip
* mold pip on a side
* now looking from yet another side, the sidewall of the clip is completely straight
in all dimensions - does not get narrower towards the top and forms a straight
rectangle (the last picture)
The 'slightly slightly rounded top'
* Slightly rounded top edge of the clip, reduced flat surface area of the top
* mold pip at the bottom
* sidewall is of slightly concave shape - forms a trapezoid
Some more differences, but only concerns the construction of the mold and the
ejection pins placement.
Question(s).
1 - How many of you have/have not noticed this particular difference before?
Curious.
2 - any other different classic 2555s than these two?

| Except for the coloring, is there any difference between [p=62575cx1] and ?
Also, how do we go about numbering in such a case in general? 62575 is the LEGO
design number for the marbled version, 23714 for the plain version. Is the former
really seen as an assembly (cx1)?
I would suggest 62575cx1 renumbered to 23714pb01 and 62575 listed as an alternative
number. Before making such a request, I'd like to be sure about any differences
and guide lines.
And yes, Robert, I know the catalog team has different priorities right now,
but this one just came up and I wonder.

"Imp - Minifigure only Entry"
So I thought, "well, I wouldn't call it an "Imp" but I'll remember that

Then, I encountered it again more recently and searched "Imp" only to find no
results again because the figure name is now...
"Cute Little Devil - Minifigure only Entry"
When making a change to an item name, can the old name be left as part of the
name when possible/ feasible so that users can find a figure/part that they took

Like many others I have taken the self-isolation as an opportunity to go through
my LEGO storage. I have come across an oddity. LEGO released the Master Builder
Academy line back around 2011. Originally it could only be found in the USA
so I would pick up the latest sets as I found them on vacation. Somehow I managed
to buy the first set 20200: Space designer, twice. The thing is, they are in
two totally different boxes. Both are sealed, same parts count, same name.
But the box art is vastly different. I'm curious if there is a rarity to
one vs the other or do they essentially have equal value?
Anyone out there familiar with this variation?
Cheers,
Stephen

| Not sure if this has been brought up before, but is there a possibility to have
more options for listing used items? For example, I was shopping around for a
few hard to find, relatively expensive minifigs and in searching I notice from
lowest price to highest the Used ones of course are usually listed first, and
I appreciate sellers putting descriptions to help out, but most listings under
Used simply don't have more details. Especially if we are all using stock
photos, it's hard to discern between used minifigs when all have the same
stock photo and just listed under "used." Honestly, I just don't take a chance
on those and look for used with a description that has "like new" or "adult owner,
never played with" "displayed only" "great condition." etc.
Again, sellers have to type in those descriptions, but can there be options such
as "used - like new" "used - heavy playwear" etc. to give more accurate listings?
I guess a store's front page can be a good place to generally describe your
items too. Just a thought and if it's easier like it is then so be it and
I will advise sellers to try to give good descriptions for used expensive items

how

There are two parts of the
part 1
shows how to submit such part to the catalog (ca.20 min long)

part 2
shows how to add such part to an existing inventory (ca. 4 min long)

I hope they will be helpful.
Please share yout thought about them. Do you like them? Are they helpful? Do
you want more, if yes about what?
or maybe you don't like then and they are not needed.
I know first one is quite a long (20 min) but wanted to slowly and thoroughly
show process on two examples from one set and even there I didn't showed

So are such long videos are ok or should be shorter.
All inputs are appreciated. We can do more in that way if needed.

|
| As part of the larger roadmap project of updating catalog guidelines, we anticipate
making this page official on or before June 1st, 2020:
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2479
Your feedback is critically important. Once this page is official we will be
open to moving items from one category to another as necessary. The implementation
of these category definitions will also allow the launch of the Part Reclassifications
project from the roadmap.
Please take the time to look over this page and provide feedback. We are open
right now to changing anything on the page and will carefully consider all feedback.
This page is not fully finished and will be undergoing continual revisions between
now and the time it's implemented. Some questions to consider as you look
through the page:
Do the definitions do their job?
Imagine a part you'd like to see placed into another category. Do the definitions
of the existing category for the part and the category where you'd like to
see the part moved fully explain the necessity for the move?
Is the page structured well?
We are working on a heading that will allow quick navigation to each section.
It will be added soon. Beyond that, is the page confusing or difficult to understand?
Will this page solve problems or add to them?
This page will affect the future direction of the catalog to some degree. Will
it be a positive or negative effect? Will this page help to resolve problems
regarding where items should go?
Keep in mind that this page does not address item types (sets vs. gear, for example).
That will be a separate update. For now we're just trying to define what
existing categories should contain.

| Thanks for your feedback in private messages guys
Bricklink recently moved all torsos with pattern into a new category, which resulted
in avsearch not finding them.
I've fixed it now by adding an option for plain/decorated torsos. Enjoy:
http://avbricks.no/#/avSearch
avSearch is based on goatleg by 62Bricks with some additional input from mfav.
For your information, the new nougat colors are not yet fixed, but I am aware
of the issue.
I'm considering to take my store from being a hobby into something more,
and would love to get some feedback. I am planning to find out how much it costs(how
many hours) to sort and register used-bulk-lots. Did anyone measure or research
how much time you spend to sort bulk lego, and what is the best strategy? My
current strategy is:
1) sort everything into 10 self-made categories
2) sort each category into specific pieces or narrower categories
3) repeat previous step until everything is sorted by specific pieces
4) sort each specific piece by color
5) Add to my inventory.
I plan to check kg/minute speed for each of my steps.

| I'm new to the Bricklink ecosystem, including selling. I've gotten the
Store API up and running to help drive my personal inventory software and replace
the Rebrickable API I've been using up until now. Because Bricklink maintains
records for parts with sticker and for assembled minifigs this switch is critical
for me.
However I'm running into one roadblock - how to programmatically download
the full Part List and Set List. I see in the API docs that the only Lists I
can access are colors and categories. But for items I seem to need to specify
the item number.
I have manually downloaded part list and set list from the Downloads page but
I can't figure out how to do that using code.
I've noticed that the program BrickStock updates its database automatically
which makes me think it's possible to do. Is it?

| Please help. I don’t understand the apparent randomness of the abbreviated naming
rules for minifigures. I collect DC superheroes - specifically anything in a
Batman set. Back many years ago Batman Sh016 had a type 1 cowl. Shortly after
Lego released a type 2 cowl variant and this entered the catalogue as Sh016b.
And now in 2019 as part of the Gotham comic con scene and a magazine exclusive
they release With a sponge cape and this is now Sh016b. This is inconsistent
with other naming conventions. Which is right? For example the first repeat
in the Batman theme was the riddler Bat017. Then he got released with a jet
pack but identical figure and that was Bat023. So should the same figure but
with an accessory variant be a brand new number in the theme or should it be
an a/bc??

| Hello
Question, about adding some additnal change on a minifig in a set.
I'm starting to sell some old sets, in this case 2 sets of 7171.
I have seen that in both sets minifig SW0017 doesn't have DG color hips but
LG Hips.
Both Sets are original with boxes en inner boxes.
So the first one I didn't understand why Jar Jar had different color legs;
but on parting out the 2nd the same color so my guess is that Jar Jar SW0017
also
can have LG hips.
How to proof or change/add to the part list as adittional minifig?
Thanks & Keep Safe

| Hi,
The reason why 3830c01 Hinge Brick 1 x 4 Swivel is marked for deletion is not
justified IMHO ("it sets a precedent for adding dozens of unnecessary combinations
of hinges").
I don't think anyone has the intention to create colour-combinations for
these two parts combined.
Most sellers just want to sell the two parts together to avoid unequal (worthless)
quantities of the underlying parts.
So can this decision be undone please so that new items can be listed?

| This is a secondary concern, also having to do with Games being listed under
Gear.
In the case of G3853, there are a number of sellers trying to sell the empty
box. But Gear does not allow for listing Original Boxes, only Instructions. Therefore,
they are listing them under the primary set listing.
Can anything be done about this shortcoming in Gear ? I know that in Sets, it
is variable if a Set has Instructions or not. The same may apply within Gear

| Any plan to resurrect special assemblies?
I came across a mostly complete
I didn't want to break the hulkbuster down so I decided I'd list him
on another site and oh boy...
Apparently said site has a new policy where buyers can request a cancellation
in the first hour.
Didn't see that message request and printed a label while I was in paypal
printing 10 other labels for bricklink.
Apparently, the action of printing a label automatically denies a buyer's
cancellation request.
Which is silly as I had no problem refunding since I hadn't shipped.
The other site would not let me cancel and refund through them. I got in contact
with CS and they said I had to refund through the paypal transaction since "I
denied the original request".
Then if I gave CS the paypal transaction, they would give me credit for the fees,
but I'm not holding my breath. I'm guessing they'll credit back the
final value fee, but I'm definitely out on the papal fees and the jury's
out on the sales tax.
Funny how THEY charge the buyer sales tax, and then when YOU give a full refund,
the sales tax portion gets refunded out of YOUR balance!?
Another funny thing is that paypal adds the sales tax that ebay collects to the
total and charges you 2.9% on that total. So you're paying a percent fee
on a percent tax collected by another entity..
I personally don't feel there should be sales tax on used items.
These days, that other site is about only good for buying and sorting out high
quality pcs to relist on this site.
So if special assemblies are a hassle with inventories, can we list partial components
of sets as "custom items"?

Author: | Leftoverbricks | Posted: | Mar 19, 2020 12:46 | Subject: | Add paper flyers to set inventories | Viewed: | 86 times | Topic: | Catalog | Status: | Open | |
|
| Quite a few of today's sets not only contain instructions (= booklets or
single sheets of paper) but also other paper items. These are included to promote
the product line or to provide information about what you can do with the set.
Currently there's no way to add these to a set inventory which means that
--as a seller-- you cannot sell a set as 'complete' until these
items are part of the catalogue inventory.
Example:
contains an instruction sheet https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?I=41906-1#T=S&O={%22ss%22:%22NL%22,%22rpp%22:%2250%22,%22iconly%22:0}
and a leaflet/flyer --whatever you want to call it-- with building ideas
and a product overview.
For the above set I added this paper sheet to the catalogue under number 6317480.
I can't add a link to this item in the form of p=xxxx or whatever because
it's not supported in the macro tags. See https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=1147
Also: this item is nowhere linked to the sets in which it appears.
StormChaser approved it with the item number 'm20dots' and description
'2020 Mini Dots (6317480)'. BTW: I don't think this is very helpful.
I think we need a way to add those paper leaflets to the inventory of a set.
There are two ways to do this:
1. make items like this a part of the inventory or
2. extend the current set description [set entry | instructions entry | box
entry] with '| other included items' or whatever you want
to call it.

Some takeaway observations so far.
Catalog is inconsistent in how it treats variants.
- Sometimes there is one ID number for two different designs.
-- Sometimes these design differences are noted, other times not
- Sometimes there is one ID number plus a letter (1234a, 1234b, etc.) indicating
different designs
- Sometimes there is one ID number plus "alternate numbers" for a single design
-- Sometimes these alternate ID numbers are the same design
-- Sometimes these alternate ID numbers are a different design
I would suggest that 48729 and 48729b are functionally different designs.
I would suggest that 48729b is actually 41005, and 41005 is a later variant of
48729b.
21 unique clip shapes to this point.
Some clip shape differences are obvious and others are subtle. Many probably
can't be distinguished by most people, even upon close examination. Through
the process of photographing these elements, and bringing the actual 6mm size
up to somewhere around 180mm these differences become more apparent.
So the differences are now cataloged and you can deal with them or not as you
see fit.
There's probably another page or two to come, but this is pretty slow going.

| This is sort of akin to Number Six on your roadmap. I think.
Is there a standardization scheme in the works for items like these shown, and
similar items, where the length exceeds the footprint of the attachment plate?
If you're going by the scheme used for 6239, then 2430 ought to be a 1x5.
If you're going by the scheme used for 2430, then 6239 ought to be a 2x3.
I know this is bound to have implications all over the catalog with many modified
bricks and plates and other things, especially when you get into SNOT pieces,
but there's inconsistency within and across categories now.
One would think the overall x-y-z dimensions of the piece would be considered
every time...
I know this is going to require some quiet contemplation followed by noisy debate,
but some semblance of consistency would be really nice to have.

How should the new type (and the printed variants) be added to the catalog?

| There are problems with these:
[P=41168c01]
[P=41168c02]
[P=41168c03]
[P=41168cx2]
Additionally, there are others not in the catalog. There are various problems
with images, part numbers, colors, inventories, titles, etc., etc.
Bored? Dive in and clean it up! Figure out what needs to be done and start
submitting the necessary requests/additions.
I don't have time + interest at this particular moment, but it needs to be
done.

| I was trying to identify some Marbled Bionicle Rhotuka Spinner and I noticed
that only 2 colors show up in the known colors list. However, if you click the
link for Color Images it shows actual pictures of 13 identified colors. Why aren't
the other 11 colors shown in the known list? I have the Yellow Marbled and Dark
Red Marbled on hand if additional pictures are needed. The ones I have came from
a bulk lot purchased years ago so, I have no way to identify which set they are
from. My intuition tells me they were from either set #8748-1 or set #6620-1.
While I'm on the topic, does anyone know if the Spinners in set 8749-1 were
all of one color (I am referring only to the 4 Marbled Spinners without code)?
A standard mix of colors? or Completely random assortment of color?

| Hi,
Anyone knows what finish the 8 x 8 DBG dish that is included in 75159 death star
comes into? There seems to be 2 variants of finish on this one (smooth and shiny)

| So, what is the official policy for pieces with official Lego part numbers that
also have Bricklink numbers?
Such as:
bricklink: 98138pb023
Tile, Round 1 x 1 with Black Number 5 Coin Pattern
Lego: 17968
FLAT TILE 1X1, ROUND "NO.24"
Obviously the Lego description needs some work, but I would prefer to see the
Lego number when it is known. It facilitates checking shop.lego.com for new bricks.

| Hi all!
We are searching for the minifigure in the subject
Please, the next who submit a new SH minifigure use this code because in the
set 76147, that have three minifigures (sh617, sh618 and sh546), there aren't
no more new minifigures and that code had been skipped.
Many thanks!

| Hi there,
Can someone please enter the correct weight of instruction booklet 6624 Delivery
Van. Due to Bricklink catalog the weight of this booklet is 55 grams, but it
should be 3 grams.
Thank you.

| set 40166 has a new counterpart in the minifig,
the darktan hair is different in about half of the sets i parted,
new partnumber that has to be added is, 25972 instead of 62810
tried changing it in the inventory (no luck since its a minifig entry) so cannot
use the inventory id of the part.
tried the minifig, but that can't have alternate parts,
why does this have to be so hard?
trying to add to the catalog seems to be a 1 time thing for me now, since it's
already taking me 30 minutes to do this, and nothing has happened,

|
| At long last, it is time. By the end of March, my goal is to eliminate duplicate
catalog entries for sticker sheets:
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogRelList.asp?relID=15
You can see that this has been moved from Section 11.1 to 11.2 on the roadmap:
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2476
I have some ideas, but I'd like to hear yours - especially those of you who've
given this some thought over the past decade or so that some of us have wanted
it.
Sticker sheets are handled quite consistently at the present moment. How can
we retain that consistency while eliminating duplicate entries with the least
amount of disruption?
As a side note, how do you feel about the NA/International duplicate entries?
These are the same sticker sheets, but have different item numbers, differently-sized
paper backing, and in some cases a slightly different finish (matte vs. glossy).
I don't want to get too distracted with this particular side discussion,
but do we need to maintain separate catalog entries for these sheets? Do you
want us to?
Looking forward to hearing some discussion and seeing some ideas other than my
own to get these duplicate entries handled.
