| I have added the contents of 49595, a-g, for catalog submission but do not have
images since BL requires minimum sizes and I only have smaller images which I
could not upload.
I am asking that the items be allowed to be added without the photo or allow
the smaller image as having a photo does not seem to be a prerequisite considering
the vast number of empty cape boxes that are being added without photos.
(I'm not questioning why empty cape boxes are trending in the new items added
category, everyone has a thing)
Thank you for your consideration in adding without photo or feel free to add
the photo without me

Possibly you should be made aware that Bricklink considers its part names and
numbers to be its own proprietary information, and that using them on your own
commerce site might draw unneeded problems. They have taken action at least once
in the past to require another site to stop using the Bricklink part numbers.
As a result, other sites choose to come up with their own part numbering system,
or they use the LDraw names and numbers, which can be used freely with the proper
attribution.
Of course many BL numbers are the numbers actually molded on the parts by LEGO,
and these are probably safe to use. Also, many BL part names and numbers are
from LDraw. These should also be safe to use.
|
Thanks for the advice. Actually I'm not "using" Bricklink part numbers -
my sync system just needs to know what is what, so for that part, it's essential
that my software is able to "speak Bricklinkish" - I imagine that's the same
for BrickOwl and for Brickstock. I don't use it in the shop itself for the
customers. Names/descriptions I'm not using at all, I've described them
in Dutch (which was the most exhausting part of the job )

I'm eager to hear more about your webshop. As far as I've understood
you've been dreaming about it for quite some time now, and finally your on
the way. Do you have something to show? Screenshot? Do you have a markedplan?
How do you decide which features to add? How big development team have you managed
to put together?
Good luck
|
Thanks! You're right! Someone I know put me on the right track with a content
management system that's featured in my hosting package. I'm essentially
able to do it all by myself, thanks to the versatile system, a bit of programming
skills I do have, and €20 I spent on a programmer to tweak some things It
has been a huge amount of work so far, 1. tweaking the store, 2. writing software
that turns inventory files that I download from Bricklink into the format I need,
3. writing an entire database of all parts and 4. finding rights free pictures
of everything. I really don't want to take anything from Bricklink that was
given by contributers and isn't mine, so I'm really working like crazy
these weeks
I won't go sharing much of it, as I don't want to border on inviting
to buy outside of Bricklink. But anyway my main idea is to make a very white,
minimal site with good overview, and make it all Dutch. I'm going to try
to focus on the Dutch market, since I believe there's an untapped market
there for people who aren't insiders but would buy from a friendly accessable
webstore they can understand easily, and use the payment method they're comfortable
with that isn't featured on Bricklink. Also, having my own store means I
can go and advertise it everywhere. That's alot better than constantly having
to tell people that my store is on some platform called Bricklink.
I don't know if I'm right. I could be wrong, but if so, it'll just
mean one wasted summer If I am right, I could be having some great business
and stability for many years to come. But probably I will be having to boost
my inventory alot more in order for my store to be significant enough by itself.
I hope hierachical category system and independent filters for many part properties
are going to be selling points.
I was willing to gamble some €2000 on having someone build me a store, so if
everything fails, I'm fine with just having wasted a lot of time and still
have all my money - except from the €20

Thanks Marek, that's useful! Looks quite intimidating anyway, all those changes.
I've now put a module into place that recognises "new" parts that have new
part numbers but are linked to previously existing LotIDs in my inventory. It
then adds the new part and updates the lot with the old part number to zero quantity.
I think that should do the trick

Those can change as bb... are replacment bricklink numbers when part number is
not known. So wneh somebody discover correct number they can be changed

I imagine most parts now have the correct numbers but minifigure can change,
like the extra 0 in SW figs.
|
Yes, I noticed some added 0's in the pattern numbers of some parts, because
the Bricklink number did not match with what Rebrickable thought was the Bricklink
number. I wonder how regularly such things happen. If it's a rare thing then
I should be fine just whiping and reuploading my entire webshop once in a while,
but if it's regular I should think of some way to update these items specifically.

I was able to remove the head, so I didn't check further, but the legs are

Hehe
I was looking for the torso with goatleg, found the one from cty1022, then I
looked further for some legs (970c00pb0718) and noticed that the minifigure (njo355)
with those legs has the same torso, although BL says that the previous one only
appears for one minifigure (cty1022).
But at least they are both priced nearly the same, so merging them shouldn't
be an issue I guess

Yes please do so.

or not, especially when it comes to what number I should assign to the part.
|
[p=87079pb619]
[p=87079pb620]
There was needed only small corrections in names as I remember
| Here is another one, but I haven’t submitted it yet. For set 60173 :
4515pb057 ???? ( the highest number I see anywhere is 4515pb056)
Slope 10 6 x 8 with rusting sheet metal roof 48 sections pattern (Sticker) -
Set 60173
|
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogListOld.asp?pg=1&q=4515%2A&catLike=W&itemBrand=1000&v=1
exactly, first free number is 4515pb057
Please remember also about correct category, just look where other parts of this
type are
And one more advice, in describtion almost all words should beggin from capital
letter beside 'and', 'or', 'with' and other conjunction
those should have small all letters. So your description should look like this
"Slope 10 6 x 8 with Rusting Sheet Metal Roof 48 Sections Pattern (Sticker) -
Set 60173"
|
I want to get this part listed. Unfortunately I don’t have the stickered parts
for the helicopter from this set to add them also.
|
You could also check this message where I tried to explain addition process of
stickered counterparts
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1085264
No many users add stickered parts so many are missing in inventory.

It is white printed on dark plastic, so some of the plastic color is transmitted
through the paint, making it look less than white. However, the paint is definitely
white.

| I'm about to create the Danish/Norwegian version of [G=G31314] in the BL
catalogue.
But I have one question: In G31314, the 14 curved and 6 straight road sections
are claimed to be identical, but the Nordic versions look different. They contain
studs on the road, and all road sections have subtle differences (see example
of two curved sections in attached image). They may be hard to differentiate
by users, so should I just create one part and maybe have a note on it that inform
of the differences, or should every different part be created?

I checked the HTML source for when you go through "Market" - "Parts" - "[some-category]"
and there is no "onclick" or anchor or anything, so this is not a browser issue.
By poking around I fond you can get the old behaviour back by changing the URL
of the page. For instance, when browsing the "Accessory, Human Tool" category,
it lands on the following URL:
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&catString=990&itemBrand=1000
Now manually change the URL to read as follows (add "Old" in there):
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogListOld.asp?catType=P&catString=990&itemBrand=1000
Extremely clumsy, but if you are really needing large pics on those pages.
Niek.

By the way 3684 is not marked for deletion yet.
Where was the issue ? "It's not you it's us" or just me ?

I used to think this until I found Tom Alphin's lego ruler and sorting tool:
http://tomalphin.com/2014/02/lego-ruler-and-sorting-tool.html
One stud is 8mm wide but a plate is 3.2mm high, therefore the size of a 1x1 brick
is 8mm x 8mm x 9.8mm. I have Tom's guide printed and laminated and reckon
that it has saved me a load of time while sorting!

It's been broken for weeks. It doesn't affect all pages, which may be
why some people are reporting the issue and others are not.
It's not browser or OS related so far as I can tell - I've tried three
different browsers on two different OSes and three different computers.
The 'add to wanted list' links are also broken randomly.

Also it would not surprise me if some torsos are sold without glove, and so it
would be good to have the gloveless entry, as otherwise some sellers might have
to sell them as missing a glove when in reality it isn't.

Can we add years to these. Clearly we know what year these appeared first. Also
it would be nice to note somewhere (item description or sub-category) that these
are exclusive to the Build-A-Minifigure (BaM) station in LBR stores. It will
help to have this information in the future, and the years will make it useful
to place these into some chronological context.

normal sets. I do not reckon now such cases when firstly such parts were in BaM
station and later appeared in normal sets but maybe there are such. Then adding
year could be problematic as when parts appear in a set then system add year
automatically and I do not know what bug in the system then occurs
For now we add years for those type parts
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogTree.asp?itemBrand=1000&itemType=P
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogListOld.asp?catType=P&catString=534&itemBrand=1000
The problem is also with normal parts which are in sets but are in colors which
do not appear in sets. Recently were added
in Orange
and
in Bright Light Yellow
There is no possibility to match that they are from BaM station
But for now I added a note for mentioned torso part you can check if it is OK.

This thread is a useful reminder that exemplifies that measurement values without
units creates confusion. I work as a scientist in my day life, and talking about
measurements without units causes same problems.
To the OP, the slope 3684 is 3 bricks tall, which is the same as 9 plates tall
(a brick is 3 plates tall), or 18 Lego units tall (a plate is 2 Lego units).
A good relation measurement is 2x2 brick width is same as 5 plates height, which
means that a 1x1 brick width is 2.5 plates height, therefore the 3684 slope which
is 3 bricks tall = 9 plates height = 4.8 stud widths (12/2.5=3.6). So as you
can see, it makes no sense in referring to this slope as 3.6 stud heights. It's
very confusing. That being said, having units in the dimensions handy, will prevent
further confusions.
Knowing dimensions is very practical when SNOT building, where the orientation
of bricks is placed sideways and combination of upright and sideway bricks.

I suggest to add a note on each single page of inventory for parts (done

Or that the size be formatted as “2 x 1 x 3 (studs x studs x bricks)” or, better,
“2 studs x 1 stud x 3 bricks.”
And these suggestions have been made almost every time a remark such as yours
