I was working on the archive for a few parts when I was working on 30151 when
I remembered an old thread

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1408010

and that these parts are being merged

For reference the old version 30151a (blocked open stud) along with (presumably)
some versions of 30151b are able to hold a connection with

Part No: 27148pb01 Name: Minifigure Armor Breastplate with Layered Shoulder Protection with Black Bow Tie Pattern
*
27148pb01 Minifigure Armor Breastplate with Layered Shoulder Protection with Black Bow Tie Pattern
Parts: Minifigure, Body Wear {Red}
and

Part No: 27148pb02 Name: Minifigure Armor Breastplate with Layered Shoulder Protection with Medium Azure Round Crystal and Pressure Gauge on Silver Background Pattern
*
27148pb02 Minifigure Armor Breastplate with Layered Shoulder Protection with Medium Azure Round Crystal and Pressure Gauge on Silver Background Pattern
Parts: Minifigure, Body Wear {Medium Blue}
Meanwhile multiple of 30151b (hollow stud)
have no connection and falls right off making it not usable for the figure.

Should this be looked into more before they are merged? it is a functional difference
used in official lego sets.

Ive confirmed this 100% with parts on hand and would include pictures but I dont
exactly know how to include pictures of a part falling off.

Can you check which numbers are molded into the parts that fall of/don't
fall of?
I don't own any 27148* so can't check the connection myself but I have
found four dome top versions which were released in this order:
- Blocked open stud (no number)
- Hollow stud with number 30151
- Hollow stud with number 26415
- Hollow stud with number 38708

26415 and 38708 have tiny inside reinforcements right where the part connects
to the armor, so I guess that is why it doesn't fall off. But based on my
findings I would assume the blocked open stud version would have no connection,
also.

Ones without grip

Some blocked open stud (as they have no number on them I cant say which exact

What about a video?

Great Idea!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIpkdqN2Hso&ab_channel=Nub%27sSelect

I made this video. (ignore the last 15ish seconds that are blank I had to add
that so it wouldn't make it a short which would be difficult to see)
