Im not top level SW expert ; but to me it seems to be a different (variation)
all together. The orange pit on top is shaped differently also .

Did you try google Lens with some Angeles or background variation?

Is this considered a misprint?

It is from the At-te.
The orange triangle is common at these helmets.

The discrepancy between sharp triangle and the more U-shaped pattern is odd.
Every single minifig I see online has the U-shape, while the triangle is only
on this packaging and in the helmet render. Note how it's the 2 rendered
"minifigs" that have the triangle, while the real one (in the big red
D on the bag) has the U-shape. Maybe the printers aren't printing the intended
design correctly? That being said, I am not a SW expert, and it could just be
a variant.

Anyway, that gray streak is what I assume you're talking about. I would say
that indeed is a misprint! It's cool that it looks like battle damage. Could
be worth something to someone who likes making dioramas
