As far as I am aware Studio 2.0 is made in Unity, so what happens now that Unity
decided to be anti-consumer?

If you are unaware, Unity decided to charge a 0.20$ fee for every install of
software using their engine. This should includes Studio, so I believe it would
be pretty costly since Studio is free.

Maybe Lego switches back to LDD?

Wow, talk about a bad decision... Unity actually got death threats regarding
their ridiculous fee plan. I wouldn't put odds on this actually going into
place in just 4 months.

Charging for every install and reinstall. Really? Did anyone think this thru?

I would love to hear from someone at BL about how many installs Studio has!

I think they backtracked the reinstalls on the same device. But we are in an
era of recurring payments for everything sadly.

If they are registered with Unity enterprise then there is the first threshold
of 1.000.000 installs free of charge, and accounting BL only has around 1.500.000
registered users the Studio community will probably be just a fraction of those.
So there might be room to grow without extra costs.

We will see... maybe time to work on Studio 3.0

I understand the frustration, but I am sure that the LEGO Group could afford
the cost to keep Studio free for everyone. Studio probably doesn't even have
1MM installs, so that would only be what? $200K or less? Drops in the proverbial
ocean. They spend more than that designing and making one new mold.
