And the grass grows in it, too. Never seen these trees that grow in grass.

amazing your outside has trees that grow in Dirt...
.. because Soil is the only 1 out of those 2 choices that can maintain plant
life.
-- The main differences between dirt and soil are:
1) Dirt contains no living matter, while soil is enriched with matter like humus,
living organisms like insects and microbes, water, nutrients, and air.
2) Soil is able to support plant life, while dirt lacks this matter that is necessary
for the growth of plants.
3)Soil is alive, while dirt is dead.
4)Soil is what plants grow in, while dirt is what gets on your clothes when you’re
working in the garden.

I grew up in the country where everyone called it dirt. I still call it dirt.
I am sure that I learned that soil and dirt were different at some point in my
life, but my brain did not remember that when writing the prior sentence. What
it did remember was that I call it dirt, and I am not embarrassed by that.
I also hike a lot in old forests, and there are a lot of trees with no grass
to be seen. But there is a lot of dirt.

You forgot about sand and rock! Those are the elements that green comes from
where I live.
5) Sand, no living matter, traps very little water, what plants in my area live
off of anyway.
6) Rock, what plants in my area grow out of. Also when mixed with sand, makes
“dirt”(the term dirt being used SUPER loosely) which is VERY hard to dig through.
7) Rock & Sand both fail to provide nutrients for the plants (which means no
grass(the only grass we have is a kind of weed(it’s nothing like the grass you
have))) there for the front lawn consists of; dandelions, weed grass, and sand.

Good advise for most everyone.
I do spend a couple of hours every other day at a park down at the shore, exercising.
There are plenty of trees at this park, but no grass in which to grow. I look
forward to it on my days off and would be down everyday were not for my schedule
and obligations. Haven't seen many butterflies that I recall, but yesterday
there was a mating pair of Osprey perched together directly above our workout
area the entire time, as though we were their entertainment Impressive animals.
It was a beautiful day, as it is today here in the Seattle area.
