Hi,

I recently bought a 55 gallon tote of loose parts, random bags of unopened kits
and about 8 instruction manuals.

This project was inside, but none of the included instructions match to it.
The parts and manuals are almost exclusively from Star Wars and Harry Potter
kits.

I think this is the beginning of a Star Wars set.

Does anyone recognize what this might be?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Brian.

Thank you! That was way quicker than digging through pictures online.

Hey Brian,

Just a heads up, you can use the appears in search to fairly easily find these
partial builds. It may take a bit of time to identify 3 parts and their color
but this search is amazing if you spend a couple minutes using it (for the future).
Sometimes, if you pick generic parts, you may have to do it twice then cross
reference the results

Also very helpful for evaluating lots you haven't purchased yet.

Would it help if we raised the number of items searched for from 3 to 5? This
has been suggested before.

That would be great, you could probably narrow down a set considerably with 5
easy to identify common parts.

I recommend searching for the 2-3 rarest parts in the build. It helps to become
familiar with the BL catalog. You can do the same if you have random sealed
bags and want to identify the set.

In this example, I immediately recognized it was Star Wars and noted the rare
5x5 dish. Only one set it could be.

I do a similar thing the others have mentioned with the BL Search feature, but
I use BrickStore.

I create a new file, add a few parts that I recognize. Select All and it will
give you a list of sets those parts come in. If too many sets, I add another
piece and try again.

If nothing shows up, I find it easy to change the color in case I got it wrong
(light gray vs. light bluish gray, etc.) or if I picked the wrong variant (3069a
vs 3069b)

That's the way - and for any number of lots.
Yep this is another wonderful feature of BrickStore
