| Hello everyone,
I am new to this site so please pardon my ignorance on the subject.
I made a purchase for an item.. I got an invoice for it and paid the seller
directly through Paypal. That was last week and I did not hear back from them
since. I did not hear back that they got the payment, I did not hear back on
the status of my order/item. I reached out and asked for a status update and
no response either. Please let me know what to do or f this is typical behavior
and I should not worry.
Best,
Ken

And if that doesn’t wake up the seller, file a claim on PayPal. (You may also
decide to do that directly. The NSS won’t trigger a refund anyway.)
Also, you say you paid “directly through PayPal.” If that means you didn’t pay
through BrickLink¹, then there’s a problem because:
1. BrickLink has to collect sales taxes in Utah.
2. The order is not marked as Paid on BrickLink. That may explain why the seller
thinks the order isn’t paid. (But that doesn’t explain why they aren’t answering
you.)
Paying through BrickLink means:
— If the order used “Instant Checkout,” you would have been redirected to your
PayPal account to validate the transaction, and then back to BrickLink for a
last confirmation.
— If the order was invoiced “manually,” there’s a Pay button on the invoice and
on your Orders page. Clicking on the button redirects to PayPal and then back
to BL.
If you paid “offsite” (going to PayPal on your own and filling in the payment
info yourself), then the seller will have to refund you and you’ll have to go
through BrickLink to pay. (Otherwise, you and the seller are considered committing
tax evasion.)

Thank you.
What's ironic(to me). I submitted a dispute as per the link wildchicken
provided and I literally got an email from the seller stating that the item will
be shipped today and I'll get a tracking order later.
Hmmmmmm.

You started a NSS only 5 days after placing an order?
I'm sorry, but it's too short. And don't forget it was the week-end.
Even if you're new here, don't be in a hurry.
When you place an order, be sure you have read every store terms. The seller
can take a bit of time to prepare your order. We don't know if you ordered
a lot of bricks...
When you send an email through the Bricklink system, check the email has been
read before to say you have no response.
If emails have been read AND you have no replies 7 days after the order, you
could be able to take an action. Only after these 7 days.

AFAIK, the system doesn’t allow you to file “too early.”
That means that, unless the delay was reduced to 5 days on the form (but not
in the help), like it was for NPB, then it has been 7 days.

The threshold for filing an NSS was reduced from 7 days to 5, but the help page
hasn't been updated.
Five days does seem a bit hasty, but at least the buyer got a response from the
seller.

That is why I created this post and ask what was typical. I was not expecting
the item to be shipped but I think they should respond that the payment was received.
Doesn't say anything on the users page about a wait period for processing
an order. Just mentions they ship twice a week. I also only ordered 1 set. Despite
that, that shouldn't matter on letting the customer know that you did receive
their payment.

they got your payment. That is what the order status page is for.

Since the buyer seems to have paid directly through PayPal instead of onsite,
the order status will show as Pending (and can't, as far as I know, be changed
from that).

It seems to me that the order status can be reviewed on the "my orders placed"
page. Also I have done this many times and normally I don't hear from the
seller until the package is shipped.
