I shipped an order to norway the buyer has filed a non shipping seller alert
saying 3 parts are missing. I have responded to the alert giving the buyer the
option of me either sending the parts on to him or refunding the but he hasn’t
responded and its been 3 days now since the alert was logged….. what do i do
now? It says that he can cancel the order from 23rd march but that will mean
he will get all his money back and all the goods for free except the 3 missing
bits obviously. So how do i go about stopping the alert? This is all new to me
ive not had one of these alerts before i have missed bits before (we all make
mistakes) but the buyer usually messages me directly and i either send the part
on or refund (there choice)

try to send an email again to the buyer. if he still not respond then explain
your issue to
the bricklink helpdesk. there is a topic for NSS there.

IMO NSS is not the rigth way to go:

"If the seller has not shipped an order after the buyer submitted payment,
the buyer may file a Non-Shipping Seller Alert."

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=110

You DID ship it, proof: there are parts missing. If NOT shipped, tehre are NO
PARTS MISSING.
Hence incorrect NSS started.

Elsewhere however is a list with reasons for a buyer to start a NSS: https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2148&q=incomplete

This is a 'missing part(s) in received order/order incomplete' alert.
But, that's not available as an alert.

Would you agree an NSS is “the right way to go” if the seller sent rocks or an
empty package instead of the order?

Or at what percentage of completeness is an NSS “the right way to go”?  90%?
50%?  1%?

“Please count the percentage of missing pieces, if it’s above X%, file an NSS,
otherwise file a Part of the Order Missing Alert.”
A bit ridiculous IMHO.
Oh, and how do you count the percentage? Number of items, number of lots, weight,
size?

So, simpler way: maybe the seller sent things but some things weren’t shipped,
hence NSS.

Just read the complaint, as OP did.

And no need to do math in order to reach the point when a shipment falls in your
approach of a NON shipped order.

NSS = 0 items were shipped
IOR =1 items were shipped (=1 or more , GREATER THAN sign got lost?)

(Chevrons are not displayed to prevent HTML code.  At least greater-than is just
invisible, lesser-than makes all the end of the line invisible.)

Why not add an NAD / Not As Described too?  That’s the third main reason for
an NSS and it’s clearly not a stricto-sensu-NSS or an IOR.

My point is the procedure is exactly the same for all these situations.  Dividing
them would just add to the confusion for the buyer.  (Yes, my point is also tha
sellers should know better.)

So, maybe the term “NSS” to group them all is wrong… but at this time, it’s a
bit like the “Bluish Grays”: it’s wrong but, considering how that kind of things
is (not) changed on BL, we’re stuck with it.

The order contained 133 pieces in 45 lots and I missing 3 pieces in 1 lot (they
ordered 8 of 1 item and i apparently only sent 5) i feel the NSS is unfair. As
a buyer i would always go to the seller first to try and resolve the matter if
I couldn’t then ok file a NSS but in this case i am the seller and the buyer
hasn’t messaged me at all had they of i would of been more than happy to either
send the bits on or refund them there choice… the buyer isnt even responding
to the alert so i cant even resolve it and i am worried they will try and cancel
the order even tho they have received almost all the order

Exactly im not perfect by all means and have missed parts before but the buyer
has always messaged me first and i give them the option to send the parts on
to them (at my cost) or issue them a refund. I’m happy to do this in this case
but the buyer is not responding to the NSS alert so i cant do anything and im
concerned that they will request the order be cancelled

you disagree with the complaint, submit your side of the story with any documents

You've attempted contacting them and they haven't responded in 3 days
it sounds like. Perhaps the safest route is refunding the 3 missing pieces and
providing this to BL. If these are cheaper parts and they reach out (eventually)
asking to have them shipped, you may want to keep them aside to still do so just
to help them out but there's not much more you can do if they aren't
responding, and especially if the method of shipment would usually be untracked.
If they aren't confirming that they understand you'd be sending replacements
parts this way, it's tough to prove to BL for the NSS but at least a refund
shows it was handled.

Yes this is the route i think i might have to take as the parts are 1p each and
to ship to norway is going to be about £5 so can i provide evidence that i have
done a refund on the alert or do i have to somehow directly contact bricklink

The buyer can't complete the NSS because you've responded to the NSS
in the Problem comment field of the NSS and are awaiting a reply.

I dont expect them to complete it i am just after a response as to how to resolve
the matter… im happy to either refund or send the parts on to them which ever
they would prefer but until i know what they want i cant resolve it but i think
seeings how they are not responding im going to just issue a refund and put that
on the alert

Thank you everyone for you messages and help i decided to just issue a refund
screenshot it and message bricklink to request the NSS alert be removed as i
had issued a refund i screenshot the refund too and added that to the message
so hopefully that will end it now.
It just seems silly if you have a issue with you order surely you first port
of call should be the seller to try and resolve it and i think bricklink should
maybe make this a thing first before allowing anything like this to be put in
place

A suggestion that may be correct but maybe not: If the buyer does not respond,
simply ship out the missing part(s) to him with tracking number and proof of
receipt. Photograph the stages of packing that shipment, i.e. taking picture
of the missing parts, then in the open box, then sealed box. Now you have all
the proof you need that you indeed made a complete shipment. This should help
you get the NSS removed even if it gets completed and you have proof of shipment
against any Paypal claim the buyer may file.
