I've got a small pile of torsos that I've kept off the site because it
isn't clear to me how to categorize "short" ribs -- are they
original torsos (which sometimes have no ribs at all) or are they reissues (which
usually have long ribs)? Usually I've found that parts have photos that clarify
the difference, but for these parts it's not exactly obvious.

Two examples:

973p43c01 / 973pb4441c01

Reissues of both of those have long ribs. You have originals.

Short ribs can be categorized as "flanken", which is cut across the bone,
or "English", which is cut parallel to the bone.
