BrickLink help page (linked to from the payment status indicator) says that the
orange-ball-exclamation-point will go away when the payment has been confirmed
by PayPal. There is a suggestion that an eCheck might be involved.

When I looked at the PayPal side of the transaction, I see nothing there about
waiting/hold for payment to clear. Looks exactly like any other payment I receive.

I have eCheck acceptance disabled on my PayPal account.

Anyone know what might be happening here ?

I can't help here, but what I do notice is that I get notification emails
from all payments received in my PayPal except for buyer payments to PayPal from
Bricklink.

The customer has responded to my inquiry, they did not use an eCheck and have
no idea what might be up here. For the moment, I’m going to call it a glitch,
ignore BL, and ship as usual.

When the order status was changed from Paid (with the exclamation point visible)
to Packed, it went away.
