Just wanted to give a heads up to some of the more avid Star Wars minifigure
collectors that there has been some development in the sw0112 discussion. The
origins of this figure and its subsequent deletion from the catalog has been
a topic of discussion here on the forums before without any real answers or direction.
Here is the information I have gathered and the changes to the catalog as a result:

- sw0112 was added to the catalog in 2004

Minifig No: sw0112 Name: Star Wars
*
sw0112 Star Wars
Minifigures: Star Wars: Star Wars Episode 4/5/6
Marked for Deletion

- Shortly after being added to the catalog, it was marked for deletion because
it is not an official minifigure. It claimed to be from set 4504-1 and/or 4504-2
but if you look up the instructions for that set, not only do the figures in
that set have light nougat heads, instead of yellow like this figure, the assembly
of the Han Solo figure shows him wearing the hair piece and not the parka/hood
piece. Per BrickLink's guidelines on minifigure inventories, an item should
only be included in the inventory if the official instructions show it as being
assembled.

- Instead of being shown as assembled on Han Solo, this parka/hood piece is shown
as an accessory that is placed inside the falcon in step 24.

- At this point, many believed that this figure was unique in that it had a hood/parka
piece with different colors/markings (white fur) than any other Han Solo figure
(such as sw0253/a). As a result, this figure has somewhat been treated like
a misprint or rare collector's item. The lack of an inventory for the
figure marked for deletion left collectors with the task of understanding the
difference between the prints on the two parka/hood pieces and has at times sparked
some debate of giving the minifigure a catalog entry again.

- I began digging into this a bit more and received information from the original
submitter of the figure that confirmed a suspicion of mine: When they took the
photo, they just took it of a minifigure they had assembled in that set without
looking up what the instructions had assembled.

- Digging further the catalog admin and I were able to determine that the hood/parka
piece in step 24 of this set was in fact different from the only similar one
in that catalog. This one had white fur, while the other one had tan fur, and
only the tan version was a catalog item.

- So the white fur parka/hood piece had been added to the catalog

Part No: x205pb05 Name: Minifigure, Headgear Hood Fur-lined with White, Dark Bluish Gray and Brown Fur Pattern
*
x205pb05 Minifigure, Headgear Hood Fur-lined with White, Dark Bluish Gray and Brown Fur Pattern
Parts: Minifigure, Headgear {Dark Blue}

and the inventories for 4504-1 and 4504-2 have been updated to the white version.
The tan fur version of the parka/hood piece has been changed to an undetermined
pattern entry and marked for deletion.

Part No: x205pb01 Name: Minifigure, Headgear Hood Fur-lined with Fur Pattern (Undetermined Type)
*
x205pb01 Minifigure, Headgear Hood Fur-lined with Fur Pattern (Undetermined Type)
Parts: Minifigure, Headgear {Dark Blue}
Marked for Deletion

and a new entry for the tan version has been added to the catalog as well:

Part No: x205pb06 Name: Minifigure, Headgear Hood Fur-lined with Tan and Brown Fur Pattern
*
x205pb06 Minifigure, Headgear Hood Fur-lined with Tan and Brown Fur Pattern
Parts: Minifigure, Headgear {Dark Blue}

with sw0253 and sw0253a inventories being updated to reflect this.

Minifig No: sw0253 Name: Han Solo - Light Nougat, Parka Hood, Tan Legs with Holster
*
sw0253 (Inv) Han Solo - Light Nougat, Parka Hood, Tan Legs with Holster
Minifigures: Star Wars: Star Wars Episode 4/5/6

Minifig No: sw0253a Name: Han Solo - Light Nougat, Parka Hood, Tan Legs with Holster (2010)
*
sw0253a (Inv) Han Solo - Light Nougat, Parka Hood, Tan Legs with Holster (2010)
Minifigures: Star Wars: Star Wars Episode 4/5/6

- sw0112 is not an official Star Wars figure, but if you want to create it yourself,
there is now a listing for the "unique" parka/hood piece.

Great info! But what I don't get is - why are the hands and head yellow in
the rogue minifig?

That's the one question I still have myself. The original submitter may
have grabbed a minifigure from a different set by accident and put the parka/hood
on, I'm really not sure. Regardless, there is no set that contains a yellow
headed Solo with a parka/hood. The catalog submissions were a little more lax
back then, which is probably how it initially got through.

There also is not, as far as I could tell, a torso assembly with that torso and
yellow hands - that is the primary reason for my question. So it seems the original
submitter must have taken the light nougat hands off the torso assembly and put
yellow hands on it.

Maybe they had a lot of spare yellow heads and realised they could make money
by having a good stock of rare figures that nobody else had.

Or maybe they were anti-flesh characters and switched them out and forgot they
had done it.

That was what crossed my mind also, then and still.
