| I can't find where to search "super lots" -- I just want a bunch of random-ish
technic pieces. Random to me, but perhaps purposefully put together by a seller.
Something to get started with -- axles, gears, etc. Not sure how to search
super lots.

You don't need superlots for this. They are just lots that a seller won't
sell individually.
If you are just starting to play about with technic, I'd be tempted to buy
a complete set rather than random parts.

Those kinds of super lots are not common here.
The SPIKE Prime sets come with a nice selection of Technic parts, but also motors
and stuff so they are a bit pricey. There are also BricQ sets.
Good luck!

Your best bet is to get a complete set that has a good mix of technic parts.
That will expose you to what's available. Old sets focused a lot on connectors
and flex axles for styling. Newer sets use more panels (limited use) for styling.
The debate is still out, and depends on what you're after. Most people come
to Technic for 'functions' and not styling/looks, though lately it's
difficult to discern ne from the other. In any event, if you want an all-purpose
set, get the 8258 truck. If you want pneumatics, get 8455 (very old). If you
want car type with suspension, get 8070 or any newer car sets. The 8258 has a
motor (old PF style), many gears, and a linear actuator.
In Technic, many people are moving away from cars and ding things like GBCs.
Check out the technic forum on eurobricks.com. Lots of useful info there.
