Dear BrickLink member,

We’ll be making some changes to the LEGO® Account system in 2023 that’ll make
things a bit easier for you and other BrickLink® members. We’re introducing a
universal LEGO nickname that will work in all online LEGO experiences, including
BrickLink. This means that your username on BrickLink will be the same as your
LEGO Account nickname. That way, you’ll only have to keep track of one nickname,
and it’ll be easier for others to follow you and enjoy your LEGO content.

Right now, we’re giving our BrickLink and LEGO Ideas members a chance to create
and reserve their preferred nickname before we open the service to other LEGO
account holders. If you already have a LEGO Account, we’ll ask you to do a quick
setup on that account by following the link below. All you must do is submit
your BrickLink username as your new LEGO Account nickname. That’s how we’ll make
sure you get the nickname you prefer, on BrickLink, LEGO Ideas and everywhere
else!

If you do not have an account already, follow the link below to create an account
and to select your own nickname.

We understand how important it is to you that other BrickLink members recognize
you on our site, so we encourage you to complete the nickname setup as soon as
you can.

There’s one more thing, though. For trademark and copyright reasons, nicknames
can’t contain words like “LEGO” or “BrickLink” We appreciate all our BrickLink
members, and we understand that changing your nickname isn’t necessarily something
you’d like to do. It’s all part of our work to provide our BrickLink members
with the best possible way to connect with the LEGO brand and each other, and
we hope you’ll feel the benefits of this going forward.

If you find your nickname is rejected for this reason, we encourage you to use
other words related to the LEGO brand like “brick” or “build.” See what fun and
personal combinations you can make!

Anyway, here’s what you need to do:

• Follow this link to log in to your LEGO Account or to create a new LEGO account

https://identity.lego.com/en-US/profile?returnUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bricklink.com%2F&clientid=0fd7ca3b-3a33-48e3-a747-8ec6f09557c1&appContext=false&adultexperience=true&hideheader=true&hideclosebutton=false&hideexternallogin=false&childsignupexperience=

• Click the Edit icon next to your avatar
• Choose your preferred nickname in the field
• Click Submit and wait a few seconds for your nickname to be approved
• That’s it! You’re all set!

Please select your preferred nickname by the 16th of January 2023. If you’re
not able to change it by this time, we’ll give you an auto-generated nickname.

PLEASE CHECK THESE GUIDELINES BEFORE SUBMITTING A NEW NICKNAME

A nickname...

• can be created in the languages available within a LEGO experience, e.g., LEGO.com
or LEGO Life.
• must be between 4-25 characters in length
• can contain both upper- and lower-case letters
• can be a mix of characters and numbers
• can include a maximum of 4 numbers
• can only include the following special signs: ‘.’ and/or ‘-‘and/or ‘_’
• can include spaces, but not two or more consecutive spaces
• can’t contain the LEGO wordmark including any variations that make it look
as if the name indicates an individual representing the LEGO Group
• can’t contain a LEGO franchise that is a trademark owned by the LEGO Group
• can’t contain a name from another intellectual property not owned by the LEGO
Group (example: Star Wars)
• can’t contain an email address or other contact info
• can’t contain references to other social platforms
• must adhere to the standard LEGO moderation guidelines including but not limited
to political or religious topics, drugs and alcohol, weapon references, hate
speech, profanities, violence, or abusive language

According to the FAQs from the email, yes and no:

Will my store name change to my LEGO Account nickname?
No, your store name will remain the same. Your store name is independent of your
LEGO Account nickname.

Can my LEGO nickname be the same as my BrickLink username?
If your BrickLink username falls within the LEGO guidelines and is available,
your BrickLink username and LEGO nickname can be the same. Since LEGO nicknames
are based on availability, we’re encouraging our members to take advantage of
this early opportunity to secure their nickname now.

Will I lose my BrickLink username?
Your BrickLink username will not change for now. When we’re ready to start using
the LEGO Account nickname system, your LEGO Account nickname will become your
username on BrickLink. This means that if your LEGO account nickname is not identical
to your current BrickLink username then it will change. This will not mean that
you lose your member profile, all your data will still be there. Also if your
BrickLink username in its current form is not able to pass our moderation based
on above guidelines then you will need to choose a different nickname as well.

Will the LEGO nickname replace my BrickLink username?
When we’re ready to transition completely over to using a LEGO Account nickname,
then your LEGO Account nickname will become your username on BrickLink.

Why choose to update your nickname? Is it mandatory?
It’s up to you what importance you place on your nickname, but one benefit, for
example, is that you’ll only need to keep track of one nickname and that could
make it easier for others to follow you and enjoy your LEGO content.

As a BrickLink member, we suggest you go through the setup above to make sure
your LEGO account is set up with the nickname you’ve been using on BrickLink.
If you don’t, someone else could take your nickname. If your nickname gets rejected,
try to make small adjustments to it, so your network on BrickLink can still recognize
you.

If you don’t actively update your nickname, we’ll give you a default nickname
after the 16th of January 2023. After this, you’ll of course still be able to
update your nickname in your LEGO Account profile settings.

If I change my LEGO Account nickname, will that change my BrickLink "username"?

Your BrickLink username will not change at this point. When we’re ready to transition
completely over to using a LEGO Account nickname, then your LEGO Account nickname
will become your username on BrickLink.
**I'm assuming at this point, if you don't change/sync accounts, they
won't change anything on BL.

Miles

Yes, because doing so will "make things a bit easier for you and other BrickLink®
members", obviously.

Why would I want to link account between here and lego.com. Does lego really
need to track my buying and selling habits more than they already have the ability
to do? Should we ignore the fact that lego's past actions to ban resellers
from buying lego from lego.com have taken place in the past?

I really want to keep my LEGO Account access separate from my BrickLink activities,
is this possible?

You can create multiple LEGO Accounts with different email addresses. For example,
you can have one LEGO Account for personal use and one for BrickLink activities.

You can create multiple LEGO Accounts with different email addresses. For example, you can have one LEGO Account for personal use and one for BrickLink activities.

That means that you can have 2 Lego accounts, one for Bricklink purchases (im
assuming for store stock) and one for personal purchases, not that you won't
have to link the Lego account to Bricklink eventually

I never said your LEGO and BL accounts wouldn’t be linked.  I meant exactly what’s
in the FAQ: you can have two accounts and they will be separated.
And they’ll be as separated as your BL account is from your LEGO account at this
moment….

You can keep your accounts separated.

However, the accounts may already be linked in some way.
When I clicked the link it took me directly to my LEGO account, without making
me log in with my LEGO account credentials.

Cookies, opened session...

BTW, I recommend you this extension if you use Firefox:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/multi-account-containers/

You can open multiple tabs or windows as a separate container, as a sand box
if you wish, or say a different browser.

What's the point? You can have in the same window say 3 Facebook tabs logged
in on 3 different accounts, 2 LSAH tabs using 2 different accounts, 2 in BrickLink,
very interesting to see BL as you're logged in, but also as passers by, etc.

As you can understand all tabs and windows then don't share the same cookies,
credentials, etc.

And of course, normal tabs (not container ones) works normally, sharing your
credentials, cookies etc - just as before.

I use this for years, works like a charm.

I thought of that, but when I went to LEGO.com outside of the link from bricklink,
it asked for my credentials and did not have me already logged in.

BrickLink is owned by LEGO, so they most likely already have access to all data
available from BrickLink. The question is of course if they use it or not.

• can only include the following special signs: ‘.’ and/or ‘-‘and/or ‘_’

as if the name indicates an individual representing the LEGO Group
• can’t contain a LEGO franchise that is a trademark owned by the LEGO Group
• can’t contain a name from another intellectual property not owned by the LEGO
Group (example: Star Wars)
• can’t contain an email address or other contact info
• can’t contain references to other social platforms

to political or religious topics, drugs and alcohol, weapon references, hate

So, let’s see, almost everyone can’t use their BL names for some reason on the
Lego site. Because of “Vulgar language” or “Religious views” or your real name
or just because they said so. You can’t use the word “brick” “plate” or “tile”
AND apparently you can’t even say “macebobo” or “thecutegiraffe” because, y’know,
that’s just the way it works.

Rather ‘la girafe mignone’

(Yeah, ‘mignone’ is placed after, ‘jolie’ is placed before.  ‘La mignone girafe’
sounds like bad poetry.  It’s French….¹)

(¹ Some adjectives are placed before, some after, some can be both, sometimes
it depends on the noun, sometimes the position changes the meaning.  Lots of
fun mixing Latin’s ‘put it where you want’ and German’s ‘everything has a place!’
)

It's invisible. It's also impossible to give out my email address to
people. No one sees the extra N or hears it if I spell it out. But, when your
name is as common as Jennifer, you have to find a way to stand out! I ended up
with this after mistyping my name on my very first email account. It took me
several weeks to notice my error. For a while I was like: Wow, no one took jennifer
yet? Amazing! lol

Anything I try gets rejected. This is absolutely asinine.

BrickLink has always been a site for adults. Why do I have to create a new username
that is acceptable by all ages on all LEGO sites when I only use this one site
which is for adults only?

Well, I finally found something that worked. But it wouldn't accept it without

Because it is going to change sometime next year to whatever it is on the LEGO
account profile no matter what. Might as well get used to seeing it this way
before that happens. At least it won't be "ChiefGentleLasha", which is what
it was currently assigned as.

I made it official. I just changed my username here after 11 years.

I hope everyone else has as much fun as I did! And don't get too personal!

Mine went through, somehow. I wonder if they would have accepted "randyeff"...

Given the past history of sellers not being allowed to shop (even personally)
on LEGO.com this account linking move is honestly alarming. Is there a statement
in the terms clarifying that activity buying on LEGO.com and selling on BrickLink
will NOT be cross compared for the purpose of bans or blocks? If not, I can
never see this move as one that will never be taken well by the dedicated sellers
here. LEGO broke our trust...let's see them earn it back or at minimum a
legal promise to not pull the same low-leveled anti-trust law breaking bans as
last time.

Well, I'll be changing my TLG account email, so there's no connecting
info between that account and my BL. No connections, no way to link one with
the other. Failing that, I'll be using up my existing points balance, deleting
account, and making a new.

Got some bad news for you, they are already connected via browser fingerprinting,
and will be unless you use, exclusively, multiple browsers for each task.

Do you think they will force-merge, if there's no email, mailing address,
credit card, phone numbers, etc in common?

No, there is no need to merge for what this really is. And, that's data mining.
This is NOT for our convenience, it is for Lego's. What angers me is saying
this is for us (their users and customers) and not being 100% honest and transparent
what this is really about, which, at the fear of sounding like a broken record,
is DATA MINING!

I am not going to presume why they want this data so bad, but give us a vehicle
to opt-out, at a minimum.

Not a fan of this. Too many things that are not the least bit 'simplifying'
or convenient for BrickLink users.

How does lego.com know to tie an ID there to my Bricklink ID - only if the email
address is the same?

I've had my Bricklink identity since nearly day 1 and do not like the idea
of having it changed on me to suit some corporate initiative.

I also use my Bricklink email address exclusively for Bricklink transactions
to keep those communications separate from everything else I do online. I especially
don't want lego.com deciding what they are going to do with that email for
their own purposes (no opt-out option is ever fully honored.)

The big issue as I see it is NOT the prospect of data mining to figure out who
is a BL seller and to track their buying of LEGO products.. I am sure they have
used various techniques already to do that.

No, the big issue as I see it is the our BrickLink user name is the URL of our
stores.

Being forced to change our BL name also forces a change in store URL. So, any
BL shop that has invested in and created their own websites, web address, redirects
and stuff like that may have to change them.

Well, that was a thoroughly unpleasant experience. I chose my nickname and two
hours later, it is still "moderating" or whatever.
Also, why is it I don't get more choices for an avatar?

I suspect more will be added at some point though you'd think Lego would
at least take the time to roll out a decent amount of varieties from the start
especially given many people probably won't bother to change it again!
Seems most of the guys on here are really spoilt for choice with the Lizard guy,
Samurai or Evil Knight? but the female choices weren't much better either
as 5 of them were Friends and the other two I can't even remember but at
least they get 7 choices. Overall very random and strange selection!

This one is well thought out.

In order to gain a small advantage which 99.9% of the users don't care about,
we will subject ±800.000 bricklink users to suffer through a mandatory nickname
change process. I realize this process is not mandatory. But if you don't
do it, LEGO will pick a nickname for you, which basically means it's mandatory.

Looks to like someone wanted to clean up the usernames on Bricklink and disguised
it as an improvement.

Also wondering how my lego.com account got linked to my Bricklink account. Both
are on different emails. Somehow they are already matched in the link provided
by OP.

That last one seems to be the answer, at least for me. I tried the link from
the email in two different browsers. The one that I normally use for Lego automatically
logged me in to my Lego account. The other one asked me for username and password.

the platform in a way that supports use of it, we suddenly get an initiative
that reveals how much Lego really cares about Bricklink users.

Hi, a few technical questions:

Question #1: Is this link actually associating my BrickLink Username with the
LEGO Account Nickname, or is it simply reserving the Nickname for future use?
Are we going to have to proactively link the two accounts later?

Question #2: How will you handle merging "later" for BrickLink users who haven't
logged in to see this message and act? I believe there are a lot of users who
don't necessarily log in to BrickLink frequently. If they don't connect
their existing account to the new LEGO account within (say) 1 year, what happens
to their old data? When the LEGO Account Nickname becomes the authentication
mechanism, will old BrickLink Usernames no longer have any way to access them?

Question #3: What metadata will be preserved from the BrickLink Username system?
From the FAQ, it says: "This will not mean that you lose your member profile,
all your data will still be there." However, if you're replacing the BrickLink
Username with the LEGO Account Nickname, then I'm assuming the old Username,
and possibly the numeric UID will be lost? That may mean things like URLs that
reference the UID or the Username are no longer valid? Will the underlying UID
be preserved? Will any other metadata go away?

Question #4: What tools are available for automated sign-in to the LEGO Account
system? I'm assuming that we're going to have to use AuthN through the
LEGO Account. How will programmatic logins be handled? Is there an API? Will
that API be offered through BrickLink, if not through LEGO's Account system?

Like is you have "macsbricks.com" forwarding to store.bricklink.com/macebobo,
you'll want to change that if you change your user name from "macebobo" to
"mac3b0b0"

Another question: Is this a typo?

The LEGO Account appears to have two distinct properties for these. My LEGO Account
has a "Username" and a "Nickname". I can also apparently connect it with Google,
Facebook, and/or Apple ID. My Username (for instance) might be "daveeaton" (my
current BL Username), but my LEGO Account Nickname is actually "ProfessorFizzyCap"
(which was randomly generated for me several years ago).

I assume you ACTUALLY mean: "You will be able to log in to BrickLink using your
LEGO Account".

Further, I assume you PROBABLY mean: "Your name on BrickLink will be displayed
to other users as your LEGO Account Nickname".

However, you also state: "We’re introducing a universal LEGO nickname", which
could mean that this new "nickname" is something that doesn't already exist?

As a developer on my own company's SSO, I ... think I know what you mean,
but it might be a good idea to have a lawyer and a member of the LEGO Account
IT team review what you've written, because it seems ambiguous.

With the purchase by the TLG, sellers had hoped that from now on things would
become easier for us:
- inventories
- communication
- helpdesk, service

Unfortunately, the first thing you come up with is a potentially insecure mixing
of personal data across multiple platforms.

You really have invented the worst way to tie sellers to you.

I can't help but say shame on you!

Nooooooooooooo. I picked an auto generated one to see if I could then change
it to something customized and now it says I have to wait 30 days to change my
username. I'm Sleekdolphin. I'm so sad.

Can lego customer service change it for me?

I believe they said that the nickname crossover wasn't happening until the
new year. So you should have time for one more try.

By the way, I find that LEGO haphazardly announcing that it was just taking away
the user names some of us have had for decades unless we follow some flawed and
convoluted process to be irritating and disrespectful.

I hope is works out for you and everyone else dealing with this issue.

Good luck,
Jen

I'm very confused by this...

They must be trying to merge accounts by physical address? When I clicked on
the link to update the nickname, I realized my lego.com account is in my wife's
name and with her email. We only buy from lego.com occasionally for presents.

So now I have no idea what will happen with my Bricklink account which has nothing
to do with her email address, but I'm afraid that there will be some mixing
up with her email address and my store.

Again, I really don't understand the point of this and hopefully there's
some reconsideration of this as it seems like a pointless exercise that will
potentially screw up 1000's of sellers.

From my view right now, I feel like they tried to hard and it kinda crashed.
A meh idea and they didn't really pull it off, what with no names and no
animals and apparently Teup is vulgar?!?.

Hope this gets fixed and hopefully we can all have our names that we associate
with.

Admin,

Thank you for this message. I've reserved the name 'leggodtshop'
with my LEGO account and also changed (already) the nickname of my BrickLink
account accordingly. Both were accepted! Thank you!

However, my store is named Leggodt.nl and when I tried to change that to Leggodtshop.nl
it was rejected. The name was not allowed to contain an imitation of the word
lego....... with respect to that it already does so what's the problem? LEGO
has by no means reserved the word Leggodt in any way, so why doe sBrickLink not
allow this?

So it seems there is some discrepancy in what is allowed and what not. Since
LEGO accepted my nickname and BrickLink too, would it be possible for BrickLink
to accept it as storename too?

Many thanks!
Paul

Thank you for all the input! You have some good points.

Just wanted to let you know that we are following your reactions and preparing

Thank you Tanja,

My own only concern at this stage is that despite being keen to secure my username
as nickname I'm still getting an endless spinning timer with the message:-

"Nickname in moderation

We’re just checking your new nickname:"

but its been doing this since yesterday with no change?

Ignore that as it seems after a couple of days it has now finally completed and
accepted my name
However I can't help but think that it may have been wiser to have automatically
linked/reserved peoples Bricklink names by default with the option of allowing
people to change it afterwards should they wish to only every established seller
here on Bricklink is left wide open to having their stores identity stolen, sabotaged
or held to ransom by anyone who may be that way inclined!

I’m not sure they could legally do that (GDPR…).  At least, when you click on
the link, they can claim you’re “opting in” into identity.lego.com.

But as I say if not automatically linking at least implementing a means of reserving
names for a period before it all goes live because right now it just feels like
a bit of a free for all with a complete disregard for the fact that any seller
could very easily lose their name along with any reputation they have built up
not only affecting them on this platform but wherever else they may sell too

The Cute Giraffe

It is unfortunate that instead of fixing issues on BL, TLG is simply creating
more of them.

My simple user name is a no-go at LEGO. Adheres to all the rules but not gonna
work... perhaps it is a choice swear word in Danish I am unaware of.

Alas it may be, like mine you might have to spell it wrong, it's an inconvenience
but it was an intentional spelling error or a randomly generated weird name.

See the image I've put as what I had to do.

Sorry, I don't agree you have to make a typo in giraffe just the name to
be accepted.

You should not accept this!

I tried Sge314 and Sge1 and lots more variations on Sge were rejected without
telling why...
So i closed the browser and reopened it.
It said my last attempt Sge1 was rejected.
But i tried Sge1 again and it was then accepted...
Strange...
So i will try Sge314 in 30 days because i like that better and Sge is too short...
Maybe after 20 tries it accepts or so...

My Bricklink email is different than my LEGO account. Do I have to change it?
Do I have to create another one specifically for Bricklink that uses my Bricklink
email?

No - they never talked about e-mail.
Just LEGO nickmane and BrickLink member name.

The LEGO account lets you use spaces and Bricklink doesn't. Will the spaces
be allowed on Bricklink?

Do you really want to make it even more complicated?
People are crazy

Hi Tanja -

Our account at LSAH is 1001bricks.
Same as our member name and shop name on BrickLink - and this for 16 years.

I can see and can't find any reason why I can't use 1001bricks for our
LEGO nickname.

We wish to keep 1001bricks - for obvious reasons - as our member name on BrickLink.

Thank you for your help?

Follows all rules and gets rejected. Hmmm... I am sorry LEGO group, we deserve
to keep our names as they are linked to our reputations here going back decades.
Go back and work out the problems you have created here.

Problem solved... by chance?

Anyway - I think no one should have to rename his BrickLink account - apart
if the nickname already exists
- that's all.

Thank you Tanja to help us all.

Mine reached the 24-hour mark too but was finally accepted sometime overnight.
So, there's at least hope whatever process that is eventually completes.

I've been trying nicknames for hours and they all get rejected without any
reasons... Any chance someone can provide clearer guidelines on what makes an

I have been assuming this whole time that the "new default username" will be
used for the Lego account, and that your BL username will be left alone. I am
now worried that I am wrong in that. If I don't do anything, will my BL account
be stuck with a new nickname, or is my BL fine, but my Lego account will have
the new? Does anyone have an idea which way that is?

Miles

In Administrative, Admin writes:

I believe at some point your Bricklink name may end up being merged and replaced
with a random Lego name if you do nothing... Basically if you want to ensure
you keep your existing Bricklink name then you need to use that name for setting
up your Lego nickname

This is dumb, dumb, dumb! Account continuity is not required or asked for as
far as I can tell. Another make-work project instead of working on sellers tools.

BL coder: Hey we're almost done with taxes... now what do we do?

BL management: Make work! Make work! Make work!

BL middle managment: Let's mess with account names! That should give us enough
work for the next year at least!

BL coder: What about seller tools? [sound of crickets]

I've never heard. Now that LEGO owns Bricklink, have they relaxed on their
thing about resellers? I have heard of people who got banned from Shop@Home
in the past because they bought too many sets and LEGO decided they much be a
reseller. Now I guess I've voluntarily identified myself to LEGO as a reseller.
Will that turn out okay?

Hi axaday,

You are not the only one who has voiced this concern and since I was a part of
the AFOL engagement team in Denmark at the time we solved this issue many years
ago, I thought I would share the best response that I can. (for the rest of the
concerns we will still come back tomorrow with more input)

It is true that due to many AFOL's somewhat crazy purchasing patterns like
buying many of the same set to get that one new element, lead to some being banned
from Shop@Home, however I don't believe that is the case anymore, at least
not to the extent it was back then, I base this on not hearing about someone
being unfairly banned for years.

Today we are more concerned when someone if trying to e.g. buy up the entire
stock of kids advent calendars in order to make a profit from parents wanting
their children to have one of these.

If there are still issues with this based on 'normal' AFOL purchases
please let me know and I will address this with our Consumer services organization.

So the short answer is that you do not need to worry about revealing yourself
as a, in your own words, a re-seller because you are selling on BrickLink.

Tanja,

Thank you for your reply. However, the LEGO groups terms of service still seem
unfriendly to bricklink sellers and AFOL customizers: https://www.lego.com/en-us/page/terms-and-conditions

I can see why bricklink users would be hesitant to merge accounts.

Kind Regards,

Andrew

Hi Tanja

Apologies in advance if I’ve misunderstood the announcement, but this seems to
indicate that there will be a transfer of my personal data between LEGO and Bricklink
sometime next year (i.e. the ‘nickname’ linked to my LEGO account will be migrated
across to my Bricklink account and my current username will be overwritten by
it, without my consent).

Quite honestly, after having both accounts for 12 years+, I think I’m capable
of remembering the details of both, and I really can’t see any potential benefit
in having them ‘integrated’. I’d be very grateful if you could confirm that this
won’t be enforced, and that Bricklink members will be able to opt-out from this
change.

If not, please can you provide a 100% assurance that if members decide to create
an additional new LEGO account, using a different email address as suggested
in the FAQs (i.e. ‘You can create multiple LEGO Accounts with different email
addresses. For example, you can have one LEGO Account for personal use and one
for BrickLink activities’) that they won’t be banned as a result.

In addition, please can you confirm how this would work in respect to buying
limits? For example, if a set has a purchase limit of 2, would users be able
to purchase 4 overall without any issue (i.e. 2 each from their ‘personal’ and
‘Bricklink’ accounts) or would it still be limited to 2 overall?

Thanks for your help

Regards, Robin

Dear all,

Thank you for reaching out with your questions and concerns related to the nickname
and the future LEGO account integration. Below we have addressed the concerns
and questions you have shared with us, please have a look through

Long moderation time – some members are experiencing a long wait time or continual
loading icon when trying to change their nickname

We have informed the Account team about this, and they are looking into it.

If you are trying to change your nickname and the system won’t accept it, then
you should be able to select a different nickname right away, however if you
select a nickname that is accepted then it will be 30 days before you can change
it again.

Not wanting to “link” or “merge” BrickLink and LEGO Accounts

You are allowed to have multiple LEGO accounts if you want to separate your personal
LEGO activities from your BrickLink activities, in that case just make sure that
when we integrate the two systems that you integrate with the LEGO account that
you wish to use for BrickLink activities.

There is no need to worry about being banned because of selling on BrickLink,
should anyone experience issues related to this then we will assist in sorting
that out.

The LEGO.com purchase limits are determined on a per household basis and are
not affected by the number of LEGO accounts involved.

LEGO nickname guidelines

If you are creating a nickname to be the same or similar to your BrickLink username
and you believe that you followed the moderation guidelines but still are not
able to change it, then we will be happy to assist you in sorting things out.
For that purpose, please contact the BrickLink helpdesk https://www.bricklink.com/v3/help/contact.page.
This also includes cases where you believe that someone has purposefully taken
your username.
Once we integrate with LEGO account your account nickname becomes your username
on BrickLink however it will not impact your store name which is different from
your username, hence the URL for your store will not be affected.
Words such as “brick” or “stud” are allowed but we see that some of you have
had issues with that, we have reported that to the account team and they are
looking in to why this is.

How will the integration take place

At this point the details of the actual integration are not finalized. We wanted
to give our members a head start in changing their nicknames so that once the
integration takes place the chance of the nicknames having been taken by someone
else is lower.

Concern that there is already an integration between LEGO account and BrickLink

If an email address was already populated in the LEGO account login, then you
may want to clear your browser cache and try the setup process again or, you
can simply re-enter a different email address than the prepopulated one.
There is no integration of email addresses between LEGO Account and BrickLink
at this point.
Unfortunately, we did have an issue on the BrickLink site yesterday related to
cookies. This is completely unrelated to changing your nickname on LEGO Account.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend!
The BrickLink Team

Hi all,

Perhaps we were not completely clear on this, misunderstanding the concern. Your
store URL's will not be effected unless you are not able to get the nickname
identical to your BrickLink username, another reason to get in there and grab
your username asap.
Your store name is separate, you will be able to keep the store names through
the integration.
