I'm now getting the "Only one item/color combination is allowed per Wanted
List" error trying to make almost any change to a Wanted List.

Does anyone have any tips/suggestions for finding the Wanted List(s) that contains
the duplicate item/color combination?

I have over 1,200 Wanted Lists right now. Yes, that's not a typo.

It's a simple fix on my part once I find the affected List(s), but brute
force checking 1,200+ lists is simply quite painful.

I think BrickLink has managed to find and plug most, if not all of the places
where we, as users, can inflict this situation on ourselves. But maybe I found
a remaining 'loophole' without realizing it. Or maybe there was some
kind of backend catalog merge of two separate items into one (and both of these
were in one of my lists as separate items with the same color prior to the merge).

Whatever the cause, so much of the BrickLink functionality is effectively disabled
for me while the problem persists.

Thanks

-Eric

PS - I submitted a Help desk ticket to see if they could programmatically find
the source of the problem for me. But I realize it's a small team with a
large volume of issues coming at them daily. So I wanted to see if any of you
had alternative suggestions while I wait (and slowly move through one Want List
at a time)!

Oh, my…  How do you manage that?

Well, as you should still be able to download them, you could check them with
a script on your PC.
The problem being that you’d need to use the API, or a script that can log in,
to download them in the first place.  Otherwise you’d rather open the lists one
by one

(
That’s a bit like the joke about a mathematician in the army:
Day 1:
Sarge: “You!  You have an empty pot, some wood.  How do you get boiling water?”
1st conscript: explains how he makes a fire, how he finds water and use the
pot and fire to boil it.

Sarge: “Okay, you do that.”

Day 2:
Sarge: “You!  Take the pot full of water and use the fire to make boiling water.”
Mathematician conscript: throws the water on the fire!
Sarge: “But why did you do that?”
Mathematician: “Well, now we’re back to yesterday’s problem for which we have
a complete solution.”

Somehow I'd never heard about BrickStore until today...I've got it downloaded
now and starting to explore (synced store inventory and wanted lists successfully
so far). Quite a different user experience, so it will take me some time to try
doing all of the "online" equivalent functions within BrickStore.

Thanks for the heads up on this!

Solved my issue. In case any of you run into this, BrickLink does make it easy
to spot the problem...you just need to scroll through you're entire Wanted
List and look for one (or more) Wanted Lists that show a red "Contains duplicate
item/color combinations" error message.

I've attached an image here.

Whatever the cause, so much of the BrickLink functionality is effectively disabled
for me while the problem persists.

Looks like the root cause was a catalog merger. Either two different colors
or two different "molds" of rubber bands had been merged together and I had both
included in a Wanted List. After the merge I had two of the same rubber band
on one Wanted List, causing all of my Wanted Lists to be mostly unusable. I've
now deleted one of the two entries and everything is working again!

Probably this?

It was listed in bright green as an alternate part in several Bionicle sets,
but apparently the color is always green (and just looks like bright green from
time to time due to the material). Therefore all bright green entries of this
part were changed to green.

Have there been other items where the colours have been merged, specifically
Bionicle weapons and parts thet were listed as both Pearl Light Gray and Flat
Silver?

I have come across a couple of items where this seems to have happened, but wondered
how widespread this may be.

Has anyone else noticed this while going through their inventories?

Thank you Randy

You saved me a trawl through the Forums looking for that.

Good luck on what looks like a long slog for the catalogue team.

It will certainly make things easier as a buyer/seller/builder of Bionicle and
Hero Factory sets.

Cheers

That’s great that they added the message here… but they never tell us of such

large volume of issues coming at them daily. So I wanted to see if any of you

I see that you've found a solution, but there is a much easier way. You
can search your wanted lists in many many ways. If you hover over the "Want"
heart on the menu bar and then click search, you can filter everything in your
lists. You can search by part number, color, and a lot more. I use this often
when I have big orders so I can update the wanted lists with the parts that I've
picked up so that you don't have to brut force though everything.

Good luck with those 1200+ lists.
