| Hi BLers,
I have a simple question - has Deutsche Post changed their definition of an international
large letter ? I used to get postage costs around 7 euro (including insurance)
for 500g to Australia via large letter.
I have purchased a Power Functions battery and charger from a German seller and
he has told me that there are changes from 1 August 2022 to large letter. This
means he needs to send this as a parcel (due to the new size restrictions around
large letter mail) which is now 17 euro.
I did a quick google search on the Deutsche Post website and couldnt see this
change.
All I could see here - https://www.deutschepost.de/en/b/briefe-ins-ausland.html
Large € 3.70
L: min. 14 cm
W: min. 9 cm
L + W + H = max. 90 cm 2)
Up to 500 g
Thanks for the help.

Hi Yogi,
as in other countries like Netherlands, the German Deutsche Post does not allow
goods to be send in regular letter anymore. It needs to package. The consequence
is that bubbled envelopes won't work anymore .
What you can try to find out is if the seller can stamp the package via DHL online,
this is in most cases cheaper then bringing it to the post office.
It also depends if you are professional or a private seller, I think.
If I go online to DHL online stamping: As far as I can see as a private person
the cheapest product you can go is
"2 kg Päckchen XS Welt, max 35 x 25 x 3 cm, no tracking, no insurance" which
is already 10,99 Euros. Insurance highers the costs.
The next largest product is already
"2 kg Päckchen M Welt, max ? x ? x ? cm = 90 cm, no side longer than 60 cm, no
tracking, no insurance" This already costs 17,99. Insurance highers the costs.
Now you also have to add the additional charges if the seller has some and you
will see that 17 Euros is not unrealistic, unfortunately.

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess my usual expectation for cheap shipping
from Germany has to change

Now I understand why when I asked a German seller how much it would cost to send
a single sticker sheet I was told € 10,49
Needless to say they didn't get an order from me.
