So, I've been working on this little number for about a day now. Only problem
I'm having is in the cockpit area because I need side panels that would allow
for the minifig to fit its arms in, but not take away from the sleekness of the
design.

Turns out that panels did do the trick, just not the ones you mentioned. What
I needed was the 1x2x1 panels once I lowered the cockpit's height. Thank
you for reminding me about panels, though.
