I am a very patient guy. That includes waiting for payments. I do NOT use Instant
Checkout at this time.

I have an order from a buyer with pretty high feedback as both buyer and seller
who is also a repeat customer for me. I received the new order and invoiced
it about 10 hours later.

It has now been 4 days. No payment has been received.

The items purchased were pretty expensive (Old Brown parts) and I added reasonable
shipping charges based on weight and destination. But, I get the feeling that
the buyer is having buyer's remorse.

So, my Question is: How long should I wait before I send another Invoice?

I really shouldn't hafta do this, since just looking at the Orders Placed
page shows the PAY Button to the buyer. But, I confess to being a bit anxious
to receive this payment. I don't wish to be pesky or annoying.

Being patient, I usually wait 30 days before I add one more dollar to the shipping
charge and Re-Invoice. Just recently, I was lucky enough to receive a payment
that was 90 days overdue (and had 2 dollars added to the repeat invoices).

You could re-invoice (forward ther original invoice) on day 5.

I think you should at least give them a week to pay before sending it again.
Especially if the four days includes a weekend.

Do you give them paypal details so they can pay manually, or do you only allow
payment via onsite paypal? As if you send them your paypal username and they
pay manually, what do you do if they pay the original invoice cost, before you
added the $1 late penalty?

My invoices DO have my paypal details, and some buyers DO pay manually, but most
use onsite payment.

I add the one dollar to the shipping cost and send a new invoice. If a buyer
is smart enough to know how to avoid paying the late penalty, I would certainly
NOT be unhappy. I would gladly accept the late payment and ship out the order
with a smile and happy dance, as it is somewhat uncommon for late payments to
ever come. My list of unpaid orders is longer than I wish it to be.

I would have NPB some of those by now. Otherwise they are just locking up your
stock. If they haven't paid since september, I doubt they will pay now.

I may have missed it, but I don't see a deadline on your payment terms post-invoice
so it appears open ended. You may want to add that if you haven't.

I ask for payment due in 5 days post-invoice. I send a polite message payment
reminder the day before due date if no payment was received. If they can not
find the invoice, I don't resend from the order page but forward my email
copy. That way if I have to issue a non-paying buyer alert, it is available 7
days from the original invoice date. If you re-issue the invoice from the order
page, it will reset the date from which you can initiate the NPB.

I would re-send the invoice after 3 days (not counting weekends and holidays.
Re-send through both BL and directly to their email address. An NPB can be filed
after 5 days (used to be 7 days) and weekends/holidays count.

Someone placed an order, you should be paid in a timely manner, or at least get
some sort of a response. That isn't being pesky.

90 days is way too long to wait.

I wouldn't re-invoice a buyer unless I needed to make a correction. It is
my understanding that sending another invoice resets the time needed to wait
before an NPB can be filed. I hope someone will correct me if I am wrong.

After 3 days, I send a quick reminder in the order comments that payment has
not yet been made. For the majority of buyers, this is all they need to realize
they forgot to pay. I wouldn't wait longer than 3 days because most buyers
do want their items right away.

At this point, I offer anyone with very high shipping costs due to International
shipping or Priority Mail a chance to cancel without penalty.

After 7 days, I forward them a copy of the invoice directly from my email to
theirs. That way, if they are not getting messages from BrickLink due to whatever
problems, they still see my message.

After 10 days, I file an NPB.

I remember someone said that, if you didn’t change anything in the invoice, then
it doesn’t reset the NPB counter to resend.

I don't resend an invoice unless the buyer requests another, usually because
somehow they missed it.

I don't assume that the reason for non-payment is a missed invoice. (It almost
never is).

I give the buyer five days to pay. Then I send a message with a reminder. If
I don't hear from the buyer by day seven, I NPB.

I don't send out very many NPB's but in the vast majority of cases, I
never hear from the buyer again, which tells me something about the buyer's
interest in paying.
