Hey all,
I have a box full of brown lego elements ranging from plates to tiles. I am careful
with my lego but for some reason my reddish brown and burgundy elements are snapping
quite easily.

Is there anything I can do or is it an un-avoidable problem.

Thanks,

Most likely parts from around 2012 plus or minus 1-2 years?
Maybe Lord of the Rings or Hobbit period?

There is nothing you can do about it, they are very brittle/fragile, it is a
factory issue that occurs after a few years and is, unfortunately, quite common.

Thanks,

If by Burgundy you are referring to Dk Red, welcome to world of brittle dark
red pieces. There are some older pieces out there with this problem.

We just went through all of our sons old bricks from the early eighties, all
of the dark brown bricks were broken or fell apart when we tried to take them
apart, we also saw a lot of chipped burgundy pieces, in forty years of buying
Legos have never seen them so brittle and break like this, seems you have same
problem.

Dark Brown and “Burgundy” in the “early eighties”?

Dark Red (“burgundy”) dates from 2001.
Dark Brown dates from 2008.
Reddish Brown from 2003.

Even “old” Brown wasn’t used for common bricks and plates before the late 90s
(except the 1 x 2 plate/tile/brick to “fill up” horses in about 1987), before
that it was mostly tools or horses.

Something is wrong in your colours… or your dates.

The brown colors tend to be very brittle, especially the old brown from prior
to 2004.

Reddish Brown from the Hobbits sets (post 2004), yes.  Brown from before 2004,
maybe, my Dark Ages and I never heard of it.  Brown from the eighties, no.
And as I said, there were no bricks nor plates in Brown in the eighties.
Even less “burgundy.”

Great show, one of my favourites.
