I was looking at the potential extra value obtainable from selling minifigures
parted out as opposed to whole figures. I did some research on CMF figures and
it seems that ON AVERAGE you could obtain maybe +30% value by selling the parts
separately as opposed to the whole figure. Obviously this assumes you manage
to sell all the parts (+accessories), in reality I think you would end up with
a lot of legs and hair left over whilst the torsos, heads and (maybe) the accessories
would sell quite well.

Just wondering if anyone else has looked into this and do you agree with the
approx. +30% extra profit? Also if you have tried it, do you sell enough of the
parts to make it worthwhile, or is sticking with whole figures better as you
can't sell ALL the bits if you part out?

That is all that I do in my store pretty much exclusively (except for a few single
sets I parted out). I have not done any research on the price difference, but
I know some people will sell the whole figures on other websites for a higher
profit than you can get here.

I usually don't end up with large piles of heads or torso's, etc. (Except
for Harry Potter heads & hairs). The plain legs actually go faster than the
torsos.

Thanks for the reply Lance! Did you try selling complete figures? I would assume
selling the separate parts is more time consuming as you have to list each bit
then store it all separately, pick and pack it etc. I take it despite the extra
effort you find it's still worth it compared to selling whole figures?

I sell both complete minifigures and minifigure parts. Let me tell you, everything
goes, with maybe the legs taking the longest. Hair/headgear always sells super
fast.
