Hello everyone. Last weekend I bought some old Lego’s and wanted some advice
concerning the 1650 Maerske Line set. I’m missing some pieces and wanted to
know if it would be worth completing the set or just sell it as is? I also
have some additional pieces that are old as well. I apologize in advance, I’m
not really into legos, but I’d like to find out the value of what I have and
or the direction to take to maximize my profit.

Well, you will want to get your first feedback so that you can apply to be a
seller.

IMO, the set would be worth completing, since you have much more visibility with
a complete set vs. an incomplete set.

However, since you're "not really into Lego" you really need to think about
what you want out of this venture. If it is just profit, then I would not recommend
selling Lego unless you can become passionate about it.

Au contraire, John. It's situations much like the OP's that has started
many of us down this road, dispassionately

It's been fun, profitable and to be honest, an easy road to cruise these
past 15+ years. But I have never been "passionate" about LEGO. For me, it's
always simply been a well-marketed ABS toy from an exceptional organization,
that's easily sold in the aftermarket. No more.

I don' believe that for a moment Cory. Your inventory and participation here
give you away.

I reserve my "passion" as you put it, for the people in my life, not a plastic
toy. It's no more complicated than that, my friend.

Since this set hasn't sold on Bricklink in over a year, this probably isn't
the best place to try to sell a single incomplete set. I'm guessing a local
marketplace or online auction site might be better to sell it as is with missing
parts. Maybe you could get around $150.

As for the rest of the Legos, there's nothing particularly valuable. You
could maybe get $20.

Best of luck.

Run! It's a trap! My Bricklink store started with $2 box from garage sale
that had partial schooner and castle set.

Had you posted those images, and the general description, maybe 20 years ago,
you would have gotten one answer. Today the situation is much different.

IHMO, put the boat up as-is, and put a high price on it for incomplete, with
lots of pictures. Then kick back for 6 months and see if anyone nibbles.
